Sometimes, days last longer than 24 hours. Kunigami felt that when he finally entered the house, closing the door behind him and crouching to take his shoes off. The exhaustion hit him like a truck, making him let out a long sigh. He hoped that in some way, it would call for you, and you would be coming with a little smile and sleepy eyes to lure him to bed. The thought itself was very tempting, so he dragged his feet in search for you, when there was no answer to his greetings.

He didn’t have to search for long. You already made yourself cozy under the blankets surrounded by way more pillows than you needed. You looked inviting with the steady motions of your calm breathing, a halo around your head made out of your hair and a serene expression. With the tiny fog that lashed his eyes, you might as well be an angel that dropped by to show him heaven. He leaned against the door frame, taking in your sleeping figure. He was happy you chose the bed instead of the couch, where other nights he would find you in a crooked position, waiting for his arrival. He always scolded you for torturing your poor spine like that, before picking you up to move you to the comfort of the mattress.

He laughed lightly, ripping himself from the doorframe with droopy eyes. He couldn’t nag you if he skipped his nightly routine, so he proceeded to the bathroom with heavy legs to do his usual tasks. It took longer than needed to wash his body, brush his teeth, put his clothes in the laundry. 10 minutes that felt like 10 thousand. Satisfied with his small achievement, Kunigami made his way back to the bedroom. You didn’t move an inch, still somehow occupying ¾ of the bed. He almost felt bad to move you aside, so he set on the margin of the bed, thinking how to proceed with his actions. The moment he laid on his back, bed dipping with his weight, you shifted in your slumber turning to the side.

Your back was facing him now. With your nape exposed, he couldn’t resist the urge to trace it, before placing a little kiss there. You hummed, as if greeting him. Even lost in your dreams you were so reactive to his touch. At this, Kunigami brought himself closer to you, dropping his arm around your waist and nuzzling the back of your neck. He was hoping you were dreaming about him. The sensation of your unusually clingy boyfriend woke you up.

“Sorry.” He mumbled half-asleep, sound muffled against your neck. You turned in his arms, brushing his bangs before peppering his forehead with kisses. “Did you brush your teeth?”, he asked in his daze. If you weren’t so tired, you would have burst out laughing. Even on the brink of dozing off he still sports the motherly behavior. “What will you do if I didn’t?” your teasing didn’t seem to affect him in any way. “I’ll come with you so you can brush your teeth.”, he hummed with his forehead resting on your shoulder, ghostly kneading at your waist. It got quite for a moment. Kunigami enjoyed nights like these the most. He felt oddly safe with your chin resting on the crown of his head, like there was nothing mean in this world. He relaxed like he was embraced by a goddess, receiving her blessings.

Your legs bent to rest on him, cold as always, seeking for warmth. “Did you wait long?”, his voice was raspy. You shook your head, basking in the heat that his body was emanating. You almost didn’t want to go back to sleep with your boyfriend cuddled against you. It was a rare sight to have him so eagerly seeking for your touch, for some comfort to lull him to dream land. The moment didn’t last long since nature was calling. You sat up, making a beeline to the toilet, walking with your eyes as closed as possible to not shake up the sleepiness. Kunigami stood on his elbow, confused by your actions. Getting out of bed, he met you in the doorway.

“What are you doing, Ren?”, you were equally as confused as him.

“I didn’t know where you were going.”, his reasoning made no sense.

“I went to brush my teeth.”, you laughed a little at your little lie. He didn’t process the joke, but all the more reason for you to tease him tomorrow.

“Let’s get back in bed.”, he said, tugging at you sleeve for you to follow him. Plopping on the mattress, you stretched a little before relaxing under the covers. Kunigami took the opportunity to drop himself over your form, action met by your protesting groan. He adjusted his position so that he wouldn’t asphyxiate you, head nuzzling in the side of your neck with his muscular leg trapping you underneath. You sighed, resisting the urge to have your little payback and tell him how crooked his spine must be.

“You’re really adorable right now, Ren.”, your compliment was met with silence and with steady breaths. With this, you closed your eyes to catch some z’s, thinking about what face he will make tomorrow, when you will tell him the same remark.

you can never go to the gym with kunigami because he’s the one who encourages you to do keep going and give him “one more set” when you’re limp on the ground. you roll off one of the machines for rest and he picks you up by your weightlifting belt without breaking a sweat and plops you right back onto the machine.

We all know that Kunigami cannot handle praise.

Whenever he is embarrassed and blushes, his entire face bursts aflame, but his ears get especially red with any compliment. It’s amusing to see him trying to keep his composure, stern face with blooming cheeks that spread their color up to his neck.

Last year, on Valentine's Day, when you gave him home-made chocolates, he froze, taking them before turning his back to you for a few seconds. Right when you were about to panic that you might have done something wrong, he turned his head to you with a neutral expression, thanking you for the attention. Based on his reaction, one might think that he didn’t find the gift special in any way, but you couldn’t stop smiling when you were greeted with his flushed expression. Those chocolates made him really happy, and your reaction made his heart stutter.

Dating him is like finding a safe space. He is a serious person who knows when to relax and enjoy life. He always feels at peace when he comes back in your embrace, no matter how hard his day was. All nerves, frustration and negative feelings fly away whenever he sees your cute and gentle smile greeting him.

He enjoys both outdoor and indoor activities that include you.

Were you too busy to go out? He will take you for a long walk, discovering new parts of the city. He lets you set the pace and doesn’t rush you.

Are you planning to enjoy a lazy day? He’s at your door with the snacks that you like and ready to give you all the cuddles you crave. When you are both settled on the couch with the movie playing, you put your head on his shoulder, arm lazily thrown on his abdomen and he rests his ear on the crown of your head with his palm resting on your hip. He stopped complaining about your fowl positioning on the couch, even though he sometimes worries you might develop problems with your spine.

Otherwise, he doesn’t have any preference when going on a date, he usually lets you plan it however you like.

I don’t see Kunigami as the touchy-feely type. That doesn’t mean that he is against any physical affection that you provide him. Actually, sometimes, when he’s really tired, he just lays on your chest without saying anything.

His favorite place to kiss you is the nape. When you wear one of his loose shirts and have your hair up, he will come behind you, touch the back of your neck with light fingers before kissing it. His kisses are short and most of the time his lips are chapped. You kept buying him lip balms, but he lost them all after 2 usages. The lip balm is the only thing he can’t bring himself to keep account of, so usually the first thing you do when you meet is reaching into your bag, fishing for the small tube of moisturizer and applying it on his lips. After the act is done, he reaches for your wrist, placing a small kiss on the palm of your hand. Sometimes you wonder if he kept losing the on purpose, even though it doesn’t stand in his character.

He expresses his gratitude through gentle touches. He puts a hand on the small of your back whenever you are in a crowded place. He touches your thigh or shoulder whenever you are nervous. He ruffles your hair whenever you come up with a silly little plan, before acting like a grandpa giving you a life lesson.

I believe that one of his love languages is acts of service. Kunigami is the type of boyfriend that nags you to drink your water, sleep 8 hours a day and eat plenty. Even when your self esteem is low, he will do his most to make you love yourself the way he does. You once let him braid your hair. It was a decision you were sure to never take again. After the mess of tangles he did in your hair, he made it his mission to learn how to do a simple braid. Both of his sisters refused to help him. He tried watching how Chigiri does it, but it was a lost cause. You assured him that heroes don’t need to know how to style hair.

Kunigami isn’t the type to get jealous, he knows he can trust you. If a guy makes you uncomfortable, he comes up and excuses you without further detail, taking you aside to make sure you are alright and safe.

He’s also pretty patient, so whenever you’re getting into an argument, he will rest it for a few minutes so he can discuss with a clear mind. If you choose to ignore him, he will become silent, lost in his thoughts, but without the intention of guilt tripping you. He usually takes too much thinking of a way to cheer you up, so you might be the one to initiate a discussion in this situation. He is open to communicate your problems and find a solution together.

All in all, he treasures you with all his heart, but you come to think that he might never be able to receive compliments.
