I dunno why but I feel like Gokkan would have stockpiles of preserved or ready-made food items for emergencies because it's a tundra so Rita would sometimes have cup ramen late at night while working. Himeno never had any bc why would the Queen of Ishabana eat that when she has servants available 24/7 that can whip something fast and simple for her? But she likes it after insisting on staying in Gokkan for a night while the two are working and was feeling peckish. The three would just chill and chat over some while Rita gets some last-minute work done lol

This was one piece that I felt executed rather easily easy. (Tbf, the composition and poses were never that complicated to begin with which was nice for me!)
There was a lot of discovery involved in the early passes with Jeramie’s posing, which I think was key to keeping him in character. I really labored on that expression throughout the whole process though, it was a challenge trying to strike such a fine line between the fear, sorrow, and a foolish guy trying to put on maybe the most important performance of his life. Proud of this one!
Also the inks! Because inks are my favorite, and i’m very proud of them.

A semi-recent idea:
I think Zaiban Court is like the old town/historic capital instead of where Gokkan's acutal heart of operation is. Rita is the titular king of Gokkan but apparently their business has more do with judiciary than administration. Zaiban Court is really up north because of the prison complex and all the sensible Gokkanians already moved southwest to the port town here. That little strech of green is where you'd find what you'd call Gokkan's "government staff"*.Though, the climate is still tough and population bare and sparse that Port doesn't overshadow Zaiban while being the logistics centre. Rita still oversees the final decisions. In terms of economy, the fits-all solution: mining & energy, plus a very, um, selective outdoor tourism.
*(the cat lady that doubles as town librarian and accountant, the firefigher captain that's just Joe from the farm, the milk AND postman, that one tinker, the triplets that run a Only in Gokkan shu-tube channel that want to take over the tourism board, the actual Tourism & Immigration Office that's a little more than a lemonade stand who had to emergency-expand 2.5 years ago due to the influx of visitors attending their kings and queen's trial etc).
Also where my headcanon lies, whether or not Rita's parents are ex-cons, they are now travelling the high seas. (hehe what next level oc rita's gonna be if they have pirates for parents)

I'm glad and thankful they gave Boshimar a proper last scene in the last ep. I really didn't expect it.
When KingOh first aired I was hoping for Boshimar to get a similar treatment to Douga later and I really liked Fukuzawa's energy. He was allowed to stick out and it was really fun.
Because they did the traitor reveal and didn't show him again afterwards I thought this was his last appearance, but I was really happy to see him in a cool scene for one last time.

I guess I went to and saw the Kingoh FLT
This was my first time in seeing anything like this so that was a blast.
The first half was sort of something I expected. Like a post show episode? I'm surprised at how much of the plot I could follow along with. I guess all that studying actually paid off.
I wasn't sure what was going to be happening during the second half, I thought it would be more music oriented than it was.
Honestly the most fun part was seeing the different types of fans. There was a lady on the way back who I thought was on a business trip until I saw her goodie bag and Jeramie plush
Overall I had a good time.
Spoilers start here--
The plot was fun. I feel like the low stakes of this episode was something I was missing from the broadcast show. Where the Kings were arguing about something and the monster was almost more annoying than not? Well at least up until a certain point.
There was fan service for all the popular ships at every part. Altho himerita was the most popular at the show I saw.
I actually kinda liked stinkbug man. He was a goofy guy.
The currency plot was a really fun show case. It felt like the best of the first half of the show when no one could agree on anything, but also had like them having each others backs more? Like they could bounce off each other more than not.
Like himeno wanting her face on the currency
Kagu made the money worth more to his people or in his country specifically or something like that
Yanmas bit coin/credit system that made it easy to do crimes with
Rita and her moffuncoin bit. The way he got carried away on the palanquin with the giant mofffun plush was something.
Gira didn't have too much to say I think, he was more concerned with something else by that point
The fight scenes were really fun with a surprise showing from the buns. Those guys jumped around a lot more.
I do love the Sentai theater tricks. I think it would've been more fun seeing it closer, but seeing the show from above was fun too. Kinda get a bra vibe. Also I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of the guys smoking out back before the show started so it was kinda funny to see.
That guy was 199th in place for the throne and then died and the 200th guy took his place? Or was it the same person and he faked his death? I got a bit lost there. I'm pretty sure it's the first one b/c they used their finisher or whatever
I do want to see it subbed later to see if I got the gist of it correct in the end. The recording whenever that comes out.
The second half was harder for me to understand since they were talking faster and enunciating less. There were quite a few bits/puns with the call and response section I didn't quite understand?
Gira and Rita had the most nonsensical one. I think gira wanted oiishi/delicious to be his call for something? It felt like they were running out of ideas but in a funny way.
We got himeno and kagu's songs. Honestly I think Erica sounded better live than the CD? She's super auto tuned in that, for some reason.
I might add to this later but man what a good time.

I think an interesting thing about the preview photos that people are overlooking is Himeno being in Rita's office.
Yes, people have noted Himeno in Rita's personal private space, but my focus is her looking through everything which is an argument I have for what Goma did to Rita.
So Goma could've done a body swap as his intro episode had a body swap. But he's a ninja so he has more than one trick up his sleeve.
And while I've said "personality swap" many times, I don't necessarily mean Goma switching Rita's personality with someone else. Twisting their personality or bringing forth their buried emotions seems to be a more fitting description of my prediction before.
Now in the photo, Himeno looks rather shocked as she's looking at papers that appears to be in a box. A secure box, to be more specific.
And from what I can make from the details, they appear to be drawings of sorts. (What can't Rita do???)
So I feel like with the visible details in the drawings and the fact that the Galactinsects tends to keep an eye on the Kings and Goma being a ninja so he snoops around, it's possible his technique brought forth what Rita used to think about as a kid or what they dreamed about should they have not been confined to becoming King and Supreme Justice, allowing them to be more honest while also taking advantage of such a huge secret and manipulating them.
So I feel like Goma is simply forcing Rita to let their inner child out and make them believe they are not bound to their job as we've always seen them.
What actually encourages it is Rita's line this week where Kaguragi decided to use them as a distraction to fight/seal Grodie while he handles Iroki.
"Everyone keeps doing whatever they want. What the heck am I doing...?!"
And then they get whisked away by Goma before they could fight.
So yeah. Food for thought.

i think kingoh arc2 so far has done really well with solidifying character chemistry and connections. especially with regards to jeramie
of course they’re all insanely different kings with strong, clashing personalities, but they’re unified now not just by the common goal of “protecting their people.” when hilbil showed her face after jeramie essentially martyred himself for all of their sake, i’ve never seen them so angry before
yanma and kaguragi were understandably ready to fight. they’re already shown to get along quite well with jeramie, but what surprised me was rita and himeno
rita, the unshakable sovereign who values neutrality and truth above all, is now defending jeramie not just as a fellow ruler, but a person. someone they fight alongside, who trusts them with the safety of their people
himeno initially thought the wrath of the gods was jeramie’s doing and was fully ready to kill him for it, but sorted out the misunderstanding and decided to accept him. and now, years later, she’s willing to fight to defend him instead
and then of course, gira. simultaneously his parallel and foil. just as gira was a fugitive, jeramie became one too. during the shuffle kings ep, gira tells jeramie that he’s naive for believing this is only an opportunity for them to understand each other, only to later admit that maybe jeramie was right. but afterwards, it’s now jeramie who tells gira that dreams alone cannot solve things
we’d only ever seen the kings united in righteous anger before. but this was something personal. maybe it’s just me, but it seems this team has really grown to care about each other beyond simply fighting together

blessed by the shugods!!
god I love kingoh, such an ambitious sentai... I think it really won over in the end though!! The way it started with Jeramie's narration and the way it ended with it <3 I will say I loved the first half so much, the interpersonal royal drama of all- loved it. I also loved how it started to seed the story of redemption for the Bugnark with the introduction of Jeramie. I think it''s important to write a story of oppression and relationships. I do think it was overly ambitious in the end!! The bugs just got SO sidelined after the introduction of Duggy. But still, we got such a happy ending of not really homogenizing into one country, but to allow cultures to expand, to interact and grow from those interactions. Maybe love will bloom from it!!! I hope Jeramie tries to attend every wedding.. he would cry so much.
SO hard to say more from the story, it's such a packed one! Some things happen with such weight and then "it's actually fine no worries :)" next episode. I would of loved to see all the plot points fully expanded in a manga or a multi-season series.
THE CAST!!! THE RETAINERS!!!!!
You can really feel Taka's love for this series, he's really the show's biggest fan. Everyone feels fleshed out enough, and it's hard to pick a fav (it's jimmy). MAAN. What a show.. great passionate show tbh.
GOD is Kagu the best... BEAUTIFUL MAN. I loved all his focus episodes. It was also fun guessing how much he playing Racles or helping him, and now knowing that he's been believing in Racles since the wedding just makes me want to rewatch.
Who else is the best.. Jeramie.. I LOVED it when he stopped talking between the lines and blurted out what he feels. It's so cute.
Even Himeno! I love how passionate she was on the kingoh legends, it's a difference from Yanma who vaules tech more and learns to have faith in the legends. Yanma's so full of charm, really love him too. Rita is the best, what else can I say..
Impossible to pick a hard fav from the main kings.. easy tie with Rita and Kagu though for the top.... and Jeramie. They each have their strengths and I'm glad we got to see the odd dynamics near the end too.
For Gira, I really liked him ever since the first episode. His acting was great! Although I loved the doomed and fated sibling relationship, I think the show should of showed us more of Gra's thoughts when he thought he killed Racles. It's not really implied he knew he didn't die (unlike according to bts), I think Gira should of been more fucked up he killed his only family... Yano did a good job displaying on his face how their first duel really messed up.

Seeing through Racles lies/act was so satisfying, all the way back to his first fight with Gira, I knew something was up him. I loved his seemingly emotionless behavior in the first half, when he had the all the chances to kill his brother and didn't take it, episode 20 was fantastic in this regard, and we got SUCH a treat with 42 telling us all the truth. especially knowing all the context. And maaaaaaan, I knew his reaction to "killing" Yanma was special.. god if anything Kingoh gave us an amazing character arc with Racles. He had great dynamics with the other kings (Yanma n Jeramie in the second half), BUT I kinda wanted him to have more scenes with Rita though, considering he basically wrecked their country by trying to reveal the traitor. Him trusting Suzume with his life and wanting to reach out to Kagu <33333 one of my fav dynamics <33 tormented by the bees <;3 GOD kagrac was SOO real...
I love how his actions were never excused, both by the character and everyone. Just getting my thoughts about him during his worse validated was satisfying. His interactions with Jeramie and Yanma post reveal were my favorites.
Just.. being right about how power hungry he really was (not as an act).... Racles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I usually don't get swayed by shipping art but.. Suzume and Racles fanart really sold me on them.. the show really helped too, but.. I think they're so cute. Re-falling in love after being married is so.. IT'S SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I had ONE major complaint... other than the Bugnark's plight getting sidelined HARD in the second half, I think Suzume's character really fell to the wayside. I liked the Morphina and Suzume episode, but it really highlighted Kagu more than Suzume. It really should of been more about her feelings on ruling Tuofu than her dream of marrying someone she loved, cause why would that stop her from ruling???

man. what a show!! Going to miss it a lot... crazy good highs in my opinion. The world is just rich enough to play around with it in your head, which makes it fun!!

They should of let him keep his facial hair. I have been seeking out his other works so far and I really do hope the film Wheel and Axle gets a release... it showed at a film festival so I assume it must have a subtitle track done.

Top 5 WORST sentais you’ve watched. or simply least favorite bc I know you’re more of a lover than a hater
OK SO these are simply the ones i think about the least since finishing them (i've enjoyed every season i've seen so far, but some just have less staying power in my brain than others)
OR the ones with the most "little annoyances"/characters i cared the least about/etc etc
So this is less of a "worst" list and simply more of a "i liked other things more" list 😂😂😭
5. Liveman - worst ending in the whole franchise. Absolute downer of a show. Two completely wasted rangers who really didnt need to be there/could have easily been made so much better. I would not recommend this show to someone unless i knew them very well and knew they'd get it. 10/10 i fucking love liveman but oh my god OH MY GOD.
4. Dairanger - very enjoyable episode to episode but really fumbled the bag in the second half imo. I love lots of aspects of this season, i love the characters (probably one of the only people in the whole world who doesnt hate Koh lmao), the suits and intro theme are some of my favourites in the whole franchise. But like... what actually happened in dairanger??? Daigo got a bird gf for a minute? Kemp hurt comfort episode???? We played baseball??????
3. King Ohger - i think i would have enjoyed kingoh a whole lot more if i was able to watch it at a faster pace. The general lack of longer fight scenes and robot fights started to weigh on me lmao, i didnt quite realise how important the robots were to me until kingoh took them away 😂😂 again, i enjoyed the show, but i havent thought about it much since it ended
2. Gaoranger - it was great fun and full on and i enjoyed it a lot, but boy howdy did it make me feel TIRED lmao. I watched this directly after watching Gingaman and was still very much in the Hyuuga trenches, which i dont think helped with Gao not sticking around in my mind. Also, didnt like the ending song (the theme song goes hard though, and Gaku remains a special boy in my special boy jar)
1. Kyoryuger - I remember really enjoying it and its characters, the bad guys were fun and the music goes hard. But there are a few factors that work together to sadly have it end up at the bottom of my sentai pile
- i find myself not really thinking about it AT ALL unless its right in front of me lmao.
- I have a lot of love and nostalgia tied to PR Dino Charge which kinda clouds most of my kyoryu memories
- tyler/shelby >>>>>> king/amy
- fav thing about kyoryu is Utchy and he wasnt even in the kingoh crossover eps wtf
- i think i have simply watched too much since watching Kyoryuger. I definitly am glad i watched it early on, cause i genuinly feel like i'd probably enjoy it less if i watched it now (i did however recently rewatch the Souji parents episode for the dynaman brain rot 10/10 junichi haruta my beloved)

how i look at Rita's relationship with the others
something i noticed is that Rita's just there, a lot (more than I expected)? like the plot would demand them to be there as a witness or the script would give them exposition lines, in turn giving them quite a few interactions.
Gira:
I think in-show Gira should be the youngest followed by Rita, and among them, Rita should be the latest king to take the mantle (even though she might not be that much younger than Himeno or Yanma).
I think these are two are similar, as they are both portayed as the 'righteous' character. They both act as 'King' because of / to protect somebody else. Even though its their focus episode, Gira and Rita only had brief a dialogue, with Rita under a presumption. Rita attempting to "balance the scales" for Gira in ep8 is a more meaningful scene for the two. Rita feels a sense of responsiblity to control the Gira situation (and to find out the truth of Gira's kidnapping). Gira came to respect or learn a lesson from the other 3 kings but there never was that animosity targeted at Rita. But then… Rita still doesn't know Gira might be the one person they tried that don't hate them…
Rita's impact on Gira is seen in his speech in the cell in ep5, and the sparkles in his eyes when Rita delivered a just judgment. Gira's impact on Rita is through Morfonia that Rita begins to open up.
These two are still interacting indirectly for now and I want to see them adopt each other. Some people are shipping it but I don't see it, they are more sibling vibes to me.
Yanma:
The natural antagonism between a deliquent and an officer of the law. I need their buddy cop road trip episode. They don't like each other but have a mutal respect. ep11 illustrates the divide between Yanma and Rita. They are both pracitcal-minded, yet appraoched problems from two sides of the law. They are both stubborn yet they can work efficiently in ep12.
Himeno:
i'm not immune to heated drama between women (gn).
Okay this is really interesting because Erica and Yuzuki are friends IRL and the the stage shows has been feeding us so it's easy to project that onto the characters. From what little we've seen so far I love how Himeno is the one inviting Rita into the conversation. If you don't count Kaguragi's "Rita-tono" then Himeno is the only other royal that called them by their name. They are so going to bond over Moffun please bring them to Moffunland Himeno-sama we're counting on you.
For real, so far I don't think they have much of a relationship to speak of? They barely know each other and you could say ep5's probably the first time Himeno set foot in Gokkan. I think Himeno sees Rita as 'better an ally than an enemy' but is stunned by their screams at times. Rita… Rita counts themselves lucky they don't get sensory overload each time they go to Ishabana. Can you imagine the dissonace between 'someone go do that for ME' Himeno Ran and 'I have to take care of everything but myself no matter how hard it gets' Rita Kaniska though.
With them it could be the extrovert adopts introvert trope, but classic's classic (Himeno go make them more wagamama)
Kaguragi:
They are platform boots shopping besties. They stand next to each other a lot because sentai color-coding. WHY ARE THEY SEEMINGLY FRIENDS (What's the deal with Kaguragi and EVERYONE)
I saw some tweets that had definitely affected how I look at their first meeting. The idea that Rita had to make an official publicity tour around Chikyuu after their accession is hilarious. Kagu said to Racles that Rita has a reputation of being 'cold as ice' - I can't even tell if this man is making that up or if he has a file on every king, or he's just repeating the general concensus.
Rita does not oppose to being dragged into Kaguragi's schemes (though I doubt anyone could do that sucessfully). Do they know they are being used in Kagu and Racles's gambits? Can they and do they want to, do something about it?
Racles:
Their relationship, if there exist of, is so fascinating. Rita's not the first Gokkan King Racles had to deal with. Racles has Rita (Gokkan King)'s direct number. Rita slapped that bitch.
Racles see the Gokkan King as another cog in his scheme, another chess piece, if however that worked with the previous king, or they simply hadn't threatened Racles power, would that work with Rita?
Morfonia:
Only after "potential successor" is pointed out I notice Rita is quite indulgent of her? I mean you could read it this way, but I don't think Rita would stop her from lazing around if Morfonia can come up with a citation from the rulebook.
I'm not sure about the age gap here because IRL Morfonia's actor is 9 years older but the character looks at max Rita's age if not younger?? Either way Gokkan's throne probably has a fixed term---oh i derail
okay my headcanon is that they grew up (like ~age 10 onwards)/entered the academy together and later apprenticed to the previous ruler as successor candidates. that dynamic probably hadn't changed since day one just some immature rivalry subsided.
From the frivolous way Morfonia speaks to Rita (addresses their first name without/instead of title), you'd thought they are the closest among the King-Retainer pairs, but they still seem just co-workers? Morfonia refuses to work overtime but genuinely cares about Rita when they're hurt.
