Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)

A comet comes plummeting down on Mike and Debbie's small town. What comes with that comet? Clowns. Not just any type of clowns but of course the ones that are ready to kill as many people as viable. This feature had me laughing from start to finish with its killer popcorn, pies, cotton candy, balloons and of course Clowns.

Nevertheless of course for every good 80s horror film you need to have a cop that doesn't listen to the people in his city. That's where Mr. Mooney comes in, a small town sheriff that of course has been there for Decades and most likely probably hasn't listened to anyone else’s opinion or ideas other than his own. Then we have Mike ( Grant Gramer), one of the main characters of this film. Frankly his acting in this film is so subpar that he falls flat every time. Though, I judge in the 80s you really don't need a great male actor. It's a lot easier to be a bad male actor than it is to be a bad female actor especially in this era. That's where a lot of the side characters such as the police officer under Mr. Mooney (John Nelson) really shined with his acting skills. He really stood out amongst his fellow actors in my opinion which doesn't come easy for a side character.

Now on to my favorite things about the Klowns in the movie.First I would like to talk about the prosthetics alone, they were something that could easily capture your eye throughout. With the way they envisioned these Klowns. Borderline cartoonish but with a finish of evil that really brought these characters to life. Further, the makeup done for these clowns is also something to marvel at for this era. I would like to give special thanks to Tawny Capricio,Art department coordinator and everyone under her for all the amazing work they did in this film as it definitely exceeded my expectations.

My general thoughts on this movie were that it was a fun watch that really had lots of moments that were comical but really no scare was to be found. With all the hysterics this flick would be a cosmic sight for anyone who loves the 80s as much as I do.
