Shout out to my Aussie friend (I think they were Australian?) I met online on Kik who I spent time raving over VenturianTale. More specifically Johnny Ghost and Johnny Toast, we shipped them like mad. Jimmy Casket my beloved,,,
We lost contact a long time ago.
Really hoping she (or whatever pronouns they go by now) is doing well...

If there happen to be (former) Amino users on here, I just want to bring an update on the app.
Some time ago, AminoApps came into possession of Medialab. Medialab also owns Kik, which is known for the large amount of inappropriate content. They have now decided to interconnect the two apps to try to pass users from Amino to Kik. They’re trying to do this through the Live feature.
Kik is an 18+ app. Amino is a 13+ app. Medialab solely wants to gain users on Kik and is disregarding all safety of Amino users, an app of which the demographic is mainly minors. I personally believe that some communities on there are some of the few relatively safe spaces for youth to enjoy their fandoms without being faced with inappropriate content all the time. With this update, that’s no longer the case.
There is no option to turn off the Live function. Not for communities, not for individuals. It’s literally being shoved down our throats, including the throats of so many minors.
Over 500 communities in 5 different languages have come together to show out outrage and concern. Amino users have been mistreated by Medialab and the communities are being forced towards inactivity. This new feature is just another terrible thing on top of horrid customer support and the bugs that make it nearly impossible to have a good experience.
I know this might not do much on Tumblr, but every little bit of attention helps. Please don’t let another app that is meant to help (primarily) teenagers find people to share their passions with to the hands of predators.
We’re using #TogetherForAmino on Amino itself, as well as on Twitter and on feedback on the Kik app in the App/Playstore with calls to remove the streams feature. First and foremost. If you want to contact Team Amino directly, we’ve found that by selecting ‘I’m a parent and I have a question’ in the support desk let’s you contact actual people and not autogenerated messages.
