Team Voltron:

Shiro: Shiro is so happy not only for Keith, but for Pidge. Until Krolia came into his life he had no one to call his own for a long time, and this was not only different but meant he was finding his own family (excluding the team who obviously he is close with but not close with). He knows family is important to Pidge too and that Keith has just been unofficially adopted into the Holt clan.

Lance: Oh, Lance. AND JUST HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GONG ON UNDER HIS NOSE?! He goes through the five stages of grief trying to get his head around the fact two of his best friends are now romantically entangled! Nope, this is some sick joke, where's the Earth calendar, it must be April Fools! Mullet?!?! And Pidge?!?! How dare he steal her innocence by actually loving her!?! Listen, Pidge, if you were that desperate for a relationship, I can date you, just to give you the experience, and then you can go back to being you and not being a girl who does...things with mullet. No? He pouts for about a week and won't speak to either of them. Finally, acceptance. If that's what makes you guys happy, then fine. But if you hurt her...

Hunk: Teary-eyed, excited, great big group bear hugs during which Pidge pulls a face and Keith secretly enjoys because honestly he's touch starved but doesn't realise it. Hunk offers to cook them a fancy meal for date night, he just needs a few days to source the perfect ingredients!

Allura: So happy for them. She gets excited thinking this means Pidge will start wearing girly clothes and makeup for dates. Is very disappointed when this isn't the case.

Coran: "Oh, I thought you were already an item. Isn't that why you were always undressing each other with your eyes at the dinner table? No? Oh well, I look forward to seeing what human courtship rituals entail. Now, go ahead and act natural." *starts observing them both far too closely until Allura drags him away and has a quiet word about boundaries.*

The Holt Family:

Sam: Can't believe his little girl is growing up so fast. Realises how much Keith has changed since his days as a garrison cadet and that they are probably going to be good for one another. But it's just a nice simple innocent relationship. Will not tolerate thinking about his little girl being...active!

Colleen: KNEW IT! She called it months ago, and has been asking very indirect direct questions that only a mom can get away with. "Why don't you invite Keith to family game night this week?" Appearing in the garrison mess hall and acting surprised that they're together, then joining them for lunch. "So, Keith. What's new? Katie told me about just how form-fitting your Blade uniform is..." "MOM!!!"

Matt: Happy for them, but still has the big brother talk with Keith. He remembers just how disruptive he was back in the old days when he was a cadet and hoped that, as he appeared now, he had matured beyond his fiery temper. He had watched them together though, and could see how tenderly he looked at his sister, which did set his mind at rest but also made him contemplate far too much how Pidge had grown (glowed?) up, and how happy he made her. He's absolutely ready to go to bat for her if Keith ever does anything to hurt her!

Krolia: This man before her, the little boy she wasn't sure she would ever see again, in love! She knows a relationship between a human and a galra (even half) can be tricky, but also how rewarding. She can see just how happy the smallest paladin makes him and hopes that now the war is over they can have the relationship she always wished she could have had.

Perihelion: Chapter 1

So I’ve finally uploaded the first chapter to my Galra!Keith and Altean!Pidge AU that I’ve been working on forever!  Big shout out to @andinewton / @kidgetrash for betaing this story for me!  She’s such an angel!

Summary:  A young Blade of Marmora agent's life is changed forever when he meets a strange girl. Why does he feel so drawn to her and eager to protect her? Together, they'll work to help Katie regain her memories and find their way in this expansive universe. Voltron!AU. Slow burn Kidge.

     Now or never.  That’s the kind of person he was.  A quick thinking, get the job done sort of person.  That’s why Keith hated these sort of missions.  They were tedious, uncomfortable, and sometimes ended up serving no greater purpose in the long run.  But someone had to do this infiltration mission and being that the Blade of Marmora’s forces had been stretched thin, they had no choice but to send their most juvenile agent.  

     From the outside, he was galra.  Light, purple skin, with markings adorning his cheeks.  His head was covered in dark hair, almost black; but in the light, it was quite obviously a deep plum shade.  His violet eyes were offset by yellow sclera.  But despite his appearance, he was a halfbreed runt, smaller than most galra in stature and more quick to temper than his fellow marmora members.

    Since he was a small cub, he had, and still was, working long and hard to prove himself.  Sure, this mission opportunity was a massive display of trust.  That didn’t mean he had to like it.  He had been aboard this galra ship for a considerable number of movements and had began to get restless.  This vessel seemingly had nothing to offer that they didn’t already have.  But there was a reason he was sent here, right?  

    Today it seemed like he might actually be able to find out.  The higher ranking officers on the ship had seemingly disappeared, locked away in meetings or whispering secretively with one another.  Normally he wouldn’t have bat an eye at this sort of thing.  The really suspicious part was that security seemed spread incredibly thin.  With the exception of an officer here or there, it had been mostly sentries.  Even still, there weren’t many of those.  

    This wasn’t one of those heavily guarded ships.  It didn’t need to be.  They didn’t generally transport prisoners or classified cargo.  It was mostly just parts for other things like technology or weaponry.  Even for a minimum security vessel like this one, there still should have been sentires on patrol in every hall.

    Keith rounded each corner, only seeing sentires in a couple of halls.  Whether something weird was going on or not, he didn’t care.  This was the perfect time to strike and get the data that Regris had asked of him.  Movements of sitting around on this ship and he’d finally be able to get off of it.  

    The young galra entered the control room, checking all directions to ensure no one had spotted him entering.  Once he got up to the panel, he pulled out the device Regris had given him to store data.  Hacking wasn’t his forte, but the other marmora member had made it simple with the little gadget.

    Keith inserted it into the system’s drive, tapping his foot impatiently as he waited for each file to upload onto it.  He felt it had been an eternity before the process was finally completed and with a sigh of relief, finally was able to exit the control room.

    He headed down the hallway quickly, eager to begin planning a smooth escape route.  If he was too sloppy about it he risked either getting captured, or the possibility of being identified and placed in the system, making him unable to do these sort of assignments anymore.  Although, the latter didn’t sound too bad to him.

    Seeing a couple of officers ahead of him, Keith lessened his pace, not wanting to draw any suspicion to himself.  As he passed, he could hear them talking, their tones hushed and eyes darting about to ensure the wrong people didn’t hear them.  “-Yeah in sector C!” He heard one of them quietly exclaim.

    Sector C?  That was the lower level of the vessel.  To his knowledge, not much was down there except some storage and a few empty rooms.  So what could they have possibly been keeping down there? His brow arched as he fought a small, internal war as to whether he should continue on with his escape or investigate.

    Curiosity ultimately won out, but at least he could say he put up a good enough mental fight.  If it was some really good intel, then maybe they wouldn’t be so upset with him for going against the direct instructions of the mission.  The last thing he needed after this snooze fest was a long lecture.

Ah that all-important first time! Honestly, these two fumbling embarrassed virgins knew the theory, but putting it into practice was an entirely different matter!

There were awkward moments, getting caught in clothing as they took it off, the clashing of teeth, and it didn't last very long. It wasn't what either of them was expecting; Pidge didn't finish, Keith was embarrassed by how 'quick' he was, but in his defence seeing her naked for the first time nearly finished him off then and there. They lay together after, with the sheet pulled up over them both.

'So,' Keith began hesitantly, 'I'm sorry.'

She turned her head to face him, finding his cheeks pink and eyes downcast. 'What are you sorry for?'

'I don't think that was what you were expecting?'

She rolled over and propped herself up on her elbow with her chin on her hand. 'I don't think it was what either of us was expecting but that doesn't mean I don't want to try again.'

He finally looked at her, narrowing his eyes in confusion. 'You do?'

'Of course I do.' she laughed. 'Neither of us knew what to expect, or honestly what to do that the other would like. And do you know what one of the best things about being a scientist is?'

'The sexy lab coats?'

She dug him in the ribs for being cheeky. 'No, stupid emo! It's experimentation! That's how you get the perfect results.'

'I do like the sound of that.' He leaned over and placed a soft kiss on her lips, grateful she was so open-minded.

Who worries the most?

This is a toughy, because they worry for different reasons. They're both pretty practical in accepting that their lives involve danger. After any fraught encounter they find comfort in one another, revelling in the fact their hearts still beat, they still had one another, and sometimes the only way they can get rid of their adrenaline is some seriously wild, frantic sex.

But! Pidge worries that Keith will go back to his self-sacrificing ways, even though he has promised her many times that he will value his own life more, and especially their life together. They have plans for the future and that won't work with one of them dead! She may have told him exactly that after one too-close encounter which made him realise he didn't just have himself to think of any more. If what he did hurt her, even indirectly, he would never forgive himself.

In turn, Keith worries someone will target Pidge again. She was far from a weak link but not only he, but the whole team, was protective of her. The last thing he wanted was for her to feel less than the rest of them, but it was something he always kept in the back of his mind. She was a capable fighter, smarter than anyone else he knew or likely ever would, but that didn't mean others might take advantage of that. This is why, he tells himself even though it's entirely because he's smitten with her, he stays near her after the incident with Ezor & co. He looms over anyone who might want to take advantage of her, he glares at them from behind her, beside her, letting them know they are already standing on thin ice just being in close proximity of her (he's not jealous, why would he jealous?)

However, Keith thought he had his worry under control until they had been together for a good few years and she handed him a positive pregnancy test. Boy, did he find new things to worry about really fast!

Who wakes up first?

Keith. It's Keith. Pidge is always getting tied up in her work and loses track of time. Keith has tried to get her into a better routine since they began sharing a room, but trying to get her to wind down when her mind wasn't completely exhausted just didn't work. So he let her do what she had to do but made sure she was in bed when she finally succumbed, rather than slumped over her desk or half hanging out of her chair. He tried to make sure he himself kept a good routine, and he needed less sleep than most of the team, and was always up by six at the latest to go and train for at least half an hour, time permitting. He often had quite a few of his tasks behind him before returning to their room to wake Pidge, and that was something else he had learnt. How to wake up a permanently exhausted pigeon.

He had tried gently shaking her, calling her name, threatening her with tickles, until he finally settled on a successful method. He would crawl back onto the bed with her and snuggle up close before speaking to her softly about how it was time to get up, placing small kisses on any skin he could see, normally her forehead, cheek, or nose, very rarely a hand. She in turn will burrow towards him, making a disappointed noise when she realises he's on top of the covers and can't get any closer. She will poke her face out with a pout, eyes squinting even though he didn't turn on the lights. Then he kisses her soundly until she gives a satisfied hum and is finally awake enough to carry out a conversation. She asks how his morning has been while he strokes his fingers through her mussed hair, and other than on rare days when they both stay in bed late together and have lazy, slow morning sex, it's her favourite way to wake up.

I hope this is okay and not too broken up, I've written in through bouts of blinding pain so if it doesn't make sense, that's why!

Not from the ship meme specifically, but still a fun question I think. Where is the weirdest place you think that they've had sex? You've mentioned both on the roof at a formal Garrison function, and Zero G, so I'm interested in what else you can come up with lol

Alternatively, if you don't feel like answering that, who carries the other? I feel like this can be interpreted in two different ways:

1) Who physically carries who (which realistically should be Keith just because of his height and Galra strength)

2) Who carries who emotionally/through social situations? Which I find personally find more interesting of an interpretation😅

Weirdest place they've had sex?

Okay, it's not weird in so far as the location itself but...well, maybe they should explain...

Pidge: It wasn't my idea.

Keith: Then whose idea was it?

Pidge: I just said we should find somewhere fast because, well, I wanted to. With you.

Keith: Okay, that's true. I guess it's not our fault that the door wasn't locked and we were distracted.

Pidge: That's right! It's totally his own fault!

Hunk: Wait, whose fault is it then?

Pidge & Keith: Lance's.

Lance: YOU DID WHAT IN MY ROOM?!

Pidge & Keith: Him/Her

Cue Lance spending the next ten minutes freaking out. He never lets this die.

Who carries who? Physically/emotionally/other?

Physically:

Pidge has tried, boy has she tried. She's snuck up behind him and tried to lift him by surprise, as though he's deliberately making himself heavier if he knows about it. She's offered him a piggy back, which doesn't go to plan as his legs reach the floor. He refuses to let her try a shoulder carry in case she hurts herself, and the one time she tried princess style she ended up with a pulled muscle. In the end she tried a fireman's lift, throwing him over her shoulder, if you could call him barely off the floor a win, but what she wasn't expecting was him to take the opportunity to grope her ass, which resulted in her squealing with a jerk, which toppled her backwards on top of him.

They leave the carrying physically to Keith after that.

Emotionally, Pidge is the more stable one when it comes to logic, she can see the bigger picture, and everyone is surprised when Keith's anger is running high in a meeting and she is able to calm him down in SECONDS. It was like someone flipped a switch that nobody knew existed, Pidge standing in front of him like the shield to his sword brought to life. She spoke quietly, taking one hand and looking up at him until he realised she was there. The two of them spoke, no one knows even now what about, but it took less than five minutes. Keith was logical again, the steam stopped coming out of his ears, and he was able to finish the meeting with minimal disruption. Afterwards, Iverson took Sam to one side, asking if he knew what his daughter was capable of and if they could bottle it.

That being said...Pidge is a firebrand in her own right! Keith isn't so good at talking her down, he just separates her from the situation, normally picking her up while she still yells at whoever was the target of her ire over his shoulder. No one knows what he does, but she's always so mellow afterwards, it's like he took the anger right out of her.

Yeah. They fucked it out.

Until Keith learnt that doesn't work for everything. Thankfully, for those of us who have them, in the future periods are pretty much extinct and very well controlled (please!) and only necessary for procreation, but hormonal symptoms still haven't quite been eradicated. The first time Keith finds Pidge crying into a jar of peanut butter while watching a movie he panics. Who died? Who does he need to kill? It's several sniffling minutes before she explains it to him and he realises he's never been in close enough contact with a period-having person before to realise just how bad the symptoms could be. Keith hits supportive boyfriend mode HARD. He makes up a trunk which he tops up whenever possible. Hand creams, essential oils, head pads, blankets, pillows, chocolate bars, pretzels in case she wants salty instead, a list of her favourite movies, music, and books laminated so she can just tick which one she wants next then it can be wiped away, her favourite drinks, water pouches to keep her hydrated, tissues, and some of his clothes, soft joggers and t-shirts he knows she likes because they are huge and comfy and smell like him. The first time he finds her tearing up over research he informs Matt he's taking her off for a few days and will have her back good as new. He scoops her up, takes her to his room and plops her in the middle of the bed. Next, he pulls out the trunk and opens it in front of her, telling her to take what she wants, everything or nothing, and to pick their first movie or music. Then, from the bottom, he pulls out a large plushie that looks suspiciously like Kosmo. That broke her. She started crying but this time because she was so touched. They spent the next few days in his room, just quietly helping her through her emotional breakdown until she was ready to face the universe again.

I have no idea if that's what you were thinking, but it's all I could come up with 😅

‘It’s fine.  You got the intel.  You made it back in one piece.  What’s there to be mad about?’  Keith stood, fists clenched at his side, a stern expression plastered on his face.  Katie, on the other hand, was sitting in a chair, yet somehow mentally buzzing about the room, elated by any bit of technology her eyes came across.  She would point at things, touch them, ask what they were.  Compared to her demeanor for the rest of the time he’d know this strange girl, she was a sudden ray of curious sunshine.

Keith’s brow arched at her and he answered all of her questions, but once the doors slid open, he was quick to shush her and request she calm down.  Through those doors came his mother.  She moved swiftly and with purpose.  Keith lowered his head, preparing himself for some sort of lecture.  However, when she passed him, he went wide eyed and turned his attention to Katie.

His mother approached her, looking her up and down, her eyes narrowing and widening ever so often.  “Incredible.”  She mused.  She reached out, poking at the smaller female’s markings and then her ears.  “Where did you find her?”

Keith tilted his head in confusion.  “You know what she is?”  He asked.  Judging by his mother’s expression, this girl was far from normal.

The older woman’s brows knit together.  “She’s Altean…but Altea was wiped out decaphoebs ago.”  Through all of the poking and prodding, Katie seemed a little less impressed than she had a few ticks ago.

Altean?  Keith had heard the name, but he’d never seen one and they were rarely spoken about.  No wonder the galra seemed so interested in her.  A race, thought to be extinct.  Did this mean there were more like her?  How does one even survive the mass destruction of a planet?

“Can you stop touching me, please?”  She asked, her tone flat and dry. Keith frowned.  At least she asked her nicely, instead of biting her.
