SHIPGIRL APPRECIATION DAY - Duke of York
Tumblr media
HMS Duke of York
The vampire duchess herself, the Duke. The most enigmatic and elusive of the King George V-class, and maybe of the entire Royal Navy.
Rumors are abound of her true nature. Her vampirism, which many may consider a curse, is an open secret that follows her sparce appearances in public. However, the Duke considers vampirism the highest gift she could ever attain: Immortality and lust (mostly) satiated with blood.
Her old and wise words make her double entendres hard to hear, for thy mortalkind relish for but a second in her umbra of vast esoteric knowledge. Her Estate, only rumored to exist, is a safe haven for any shipgirl willing to become her companion - no matter their walk of life.
She prices loyalty to herself and her image above anything else, to be her little plaything to kill her boredom; an action she pays handsomely with the most expensive and exquisite meals, the most refined ancient bathhouses, lessons in archery, horse riding and more, access to ancient tomes of knowledge from all around the world - but most preciously, her company. The Duke might have a rough reputation, in part thanks to her harsh relation with her sisters (except Howe), but one thing is true: If the Duke deems you worthy, you will feel worthy.
Overall, Duke of York is one of my favorite shipgirls in the game. Her relationship with her sisters is rocky, yes - King George V can hardly stand her, a mere mention of her name making her roll her eyes. Prince of Wales respects her legends of being able to lay any person, both in battle and in bed, yet is far too influenced by George's opinion. Howe adores York, as the Duke gifts her with many gadgets as well as dessert recipes from all across the world, and loves pampering her little sister. Monarch, while not officially a sister of the KGV-class, struggles keeping her adoration of York a secret; however, outwardly, she will follow the same steps George does.

who is duke of york?
(fair warning - this is a look at how i characterise duke of york, and the character arc that i envision when writing her. also, thank you to @cursedalthoughts for starting the shipgirl appreciation trend and encouraging me to write this! )
that's a question with many answers, because doy is fundamentally an actor. to understand where this comes from, we have to understand what her environment is.
the royal navy is obsessed with appearances. not (always) in terms of vanity, but the combination of strict hierarchy and the rife repression issues causes an environment where disputes are waged behind backs (the perfect place for both talking and stabbing, after all.) and the air is thick with tension and secrets. doy is the third ship of the king george v class, a battleship line that has manifested only second in importance to queen elizabeth herself. this position means that in such a class-based hierarchy, people look to them for how to act, and look at them to scrutinise their moves. this has impacted how the kgv class goes about their lives: george throws herself into being the perfect leader (without overshadowing the qe class of course, because that's not proper), wales lives up to being a lady in polite company but the rumours that abound about her being lecherous show that her time in the us was likely a way to escape the public eye and live her life, and howe plays into the sweet girl next trope. doy?
doy plays herself.
doy is a vampire - the sole one of her family to be (so far, pls prove me wrong anson) and the friction this creates... doy's nature instantly sets her apart from her family. combined with the physical differences (being the only kgv without red eyes or blonde hair is distinctive enough) she is also the only kgv class with a dietary preference that isn't accommodated in waitrose, which means she is already excluded from enjoying what her oldest and youngest sisters create, which is an expression of love for them - a love she cannot eat, or else she'll be sick. and on top of that, george is a doting sister when not on duty, and george also has a sun motif. her skill activation calls upon the empire and the sun which never sets, wales refers to her presence as like a sun in her memory, 'bright and indiscriminate'. which is a bit of an issue when doy takes after something to which the sun's touch is lethal. every time george reaches out to doy it'll only hurt her more, and the only thing that hurts george more than seeing her sisters in pain is not being able to be there for them, which happens as doy pushes her away thinking that george does not care for her (because she stopped trying to reach out, and because when she does it only causes hurt due to their incompatible goals - george wants her family to be seen as the pinnacle of royals even if it means that george has to sacrifice her time, doy wants to be able to live true to herself even if it means pushing away her family)
doy cannot be true to her nature in the royal navy, where she is in the public eye so often - it opens up her, her family, and her nation to criticism by having a monster among them. she cannot be like wales and be sent to another country to mitigate scandal - that would be seen by some as an act of war. at the same time, many think keeping her among the royal navy is like letting a fox into the chicken coop. yet doy cannot deny herself, either of blood or of her sense of self - she suffers death either way, be it the death of her body or the death of her mind.
her 'solution' is, in the words of shakespeare (and in a play about her namesake no less), she shall play the villain. doy shall be the moon to george's sun, and make the royal navy unite under george for fear of her. she puts herself at odds with the royal navy, but only in a way that the royal navy can see. the cut of her jacket may be daring to an outsider, but it's thoroughly improper for a knight-lady of her status - which one would only know from inside the royal navy. as such, she straddles the line between ship and human and monster in a way few others must. doy paints herself as a monster, a predator, and uses that bloodlust to defend the royal navy, because she is an incredably powerful combatant, and leverages this - the royal navy cannot let her go because else they lose one of their most valuable ships, capable of defeating sirens with both gun and blade. so in return, the royal navy gives her a ration of blood bags and pretends not to see what she gets up to. (officially. maids talk, after all, and ladies are horrible gossips.) so now when doy stalks the halls of the base, it is with a cape and whispers behind her. she can play at being a lady and take tea in the garden gazebos, she can stir up rumour by seducing a maid. she doesn't have to worry about what is proper for one of her station, because anything she does will be commented on but none of them can do anything about it. no one knows what is proper for her station, because no one knows what her station is. she is free of the shackles of royal society, and bound in the ones she cast herself - by casting herself in this role.
she now draws the ire of detractors in the royal navy - wales got handsy with a eagle carrier? doy seduced, fucked, and drank the blood of a past defeat from the ironblood, so people forget about wales' deeds. doy is a protector in the same way a dagger is - subtle, deadly, and prone to driving people to madness. doy throws herself into tragedies because they are villains of circumstance and choice, like her, because each new play gives her her lines and stage directions because the moment she leaves her room each day she is on stage and even in the wings she must rehearse. even her room is set with props to further sell her character, as if each day that she wakes up onstage she'll believe her persona her true self. she sees herself in those pages because she cannot allow herself the hope of a comedy, not when her smile displays fangs. it is better, in doy's mind, to choose to lock yourself away than risk rejection.
and these are all things she unambiguously likes! doy is a creative person, and she loves the macabre too - but she cannot let such a weakness be exploited, and so when she must talk about it to others she introduces it with an air of cynicism, because she cannot be true to herself, not when she has spent so long cultivating an image under those harsh spotlights of the public gaze. doy is hesitant to step off the stage, and thus outside of the rules she's made for herself and caged herself in. even when she lets someone inside it still takes time for her to unmask, and even then it seeps through. even once she is comfortable to, she jests about her nature in a self-deprecating way.
and so, doy has locked herself in to a state of existing between scylla and charbydis - the greek monsters, not the maids (she'd likely not mind that) - where she cannot be herself, or risk being outcast by her reason for existing, nor can she be someone she is not, due to her nature.
doy played herself.
there's friction between her other sisters too - wales' career is... less glorious than doy, and it leads to wales' inferiority complex towards her sisters, which when doy plays the villain makes it easy for her to step in and show off her skills. the issue arises when doy gets as much attention as she does - after all, there's no better excitement for an audience than a villain they love to hate
and howe... howe, who is near universally loved, who has social calls and pleasant words aplenty is a cruel inversion of doy, who is regarded with fear on land but whose capabilities in war are never once brought into question, unlike howe, who wishes people would see that she's just as capable as her older sisters.
and doy envies her sisters for all that they can do - what is a duke, when compared to a king, a prince, or an admiral?
second-rate.
but doy is not the only vampire within the royal navy. surely a precedent must be set with vampire too? alas, not in a way that impacts doy. vampire's manifestation prepared the royal navy for the concept of a vampiric shipgirl, but vampire is a destroyer, not a royal knight. people do not look to vampire to lead, to sign policies, to deal the killing blow. this is something which creates a rift between the two - vampire can be herself and have a relationship with others in the royal navy, even if it is shadowed by her nature. vampire is perhaps the one person in the royal navy who would understand doy, but doy has convinced herself that she doesn't want to be understood - and in truth, is terrified of understanding herself, because it calls into question all the decisions she's made.
she plays her role with all the grandeur an actress could dream of, and those she shares the stage with, even for one night, are lavished with gifts - the only price is being tainted by the vampire. her estate is remote, unlike her sisters that reside at least somewhat close to civilisation, doy lives in the yorkshire pennines, in the dark peak, an area of the peak district known for its brooding moorland and bleakness - a place no one would come to unless in distress or invited there by doy. it is in her own home where doy is her most herself - as seen by dropping the iambic pentameter, which she adopted as a false heartbeat to replace the stillness of her own.
doy's desire for blood and the carnality that accompanies it is treated with distance, and so doy distances herself in order to spare herself the heartache, never addressing the core misconception, thus the cycle continues
and so, doy is an actor with many masks. the monster, the sister, the fiend, the lady. perhaps one day she'll figure out who she is behind it.

Can you tell me a story or two you know about the married life of Queen Mary and King George?
Everyone thinks they got married to protect the monarchy or they say that the reason they continue their sex life is to produce arrivals. I don't want to believe all this. It seems ridiculous to me that Mary avoids sharing a bed with her husband or does not want to have physical contact with him. I believe they love each other. Yes heir They were supposed to produce, but it seemed strange to me that they only had sexual intercourse for the child or stayed together for the monarchy. What do you think about this?
Curious about your comment?
King George V and Queen Mary had a strong loving marriage!
I think their engagement period wasn't very ideal for many reason. George was deeply mourning his brother and marrying his fiancé was not making it better. Also their wedding was rushed, which resulted in a hectic and stressful period for the both of them. Of course, George and Mary were fond of and admired each other before the wedding, but when people say they married for duty, I think they are referring to their unideal engagement story since they didn't really know each other.
On a side note, I was thinking how crazy it was that any royal marriage ended successful because of the limited choice of candidates. In our modern world, the thought of choosing a spouse from a group of twenty would be insane. Even a couple like Nicholas and Alexandra, who had to fight for their union so are usually seen as a "love match" (in my opinion all marriages in these situations were arranged to a certain extent), really didn't know each other pre-marriage compared to modern ideals.
One of my favorite KGV and Q Mary marriage story includes:
“On a state visit to the King of the Belgians in 1922 he wrote in his diary: ‘May lives at one end of the Palace & I at the other, it is not very convenient.’93 In the middle of the night May heard her bedroom door opening. She switched on the light and there, peering round the screen, was his ‘dear, sad little face’, having found his way to her rooms on his own in the dark from the other end of the palace”
Excerpt From George V "Never a Dull Moment" by Jane Ridley
KGV and Mary actually shared a bed throughout their whole marriage (which was unusual for the upperclass) . I, of course, have no idea if Mary enjoyed her husband in such a way, but they did have lots of children. I've made this point before, but there is newspaper articles from around 1911, when he first became King, saying Mary was pregnant. Since her last child was born many years before that, I assume she miscarried, which shows her and George were sleeping with each other even in their upper 40s/50s.
Also, many upper-class (and royal) couples in those days only had a two-three kids (like KGV's sisters), so to assume they had that many kids for duty would be wrong. If they did not enjoy each other in that way, KGV would have stopped sleeping with Mary probably after George VI or Pss Mary, in my opinion.
KGV also never took a mistress throughout the marriage. He was also pretty he-man like so I don't think he would be abstinent.
So basically, they did love each other! I really think the confusion comes from their unromantic engagement. Also, not to be dramatic, but I think George and Mary shared a bit of soul (soulmates), which explains why they were so deeply in love with each other, even though they had a lot going against them (George being very busy, stressful periods like WWI, his moodiness, them not sharing any hobbies, Mary being enigmatic, both of them being argumentative).
Also, another reason people think they didn't love each other might be their oldest son, David. Sadly, David painted a pretty bad picture of KGV by describing his mother as his father's slave. I think it's because he was closer to his mother and liked to blame her not taking his side during the abdication (or throughout the 1930s in general since before that Mary did tend to take David's side occasionally) on his father's control over her.
Here are some other good quotes concerning their marriage:
“Very often I feel in despair,’ George told May, ‘& if it wasn’t for you I should break down.’ When they were apart he felt ‘tired, worried & depressed’.”
“On George’s insistence, the royal couple shared a bed, rather than sleeping in two beds side by side; ‘I certainly prefer one bed,’ George had earlier told May, ‘I thought you did so too.”
“You will find me D.v. [Deo volente – God willing] waiting on the platform of the station, ready to kiss you, you mustn’t be shy. We will have a better kiss when we are alone in the house.” (KGV to his wife)

Model of HMS Scylla at the Glasgow museum of transport. In the background is a rather large model of a King George V class battleship.
HMS Scylla and her sister Charybdis were unique among the Dido class cruisers. They were completed with 4.5 inch guns because of a shortage of the intended 5.25 inch guns (which coincidentally can be seen on the side of the KGV model). Despite this apparent shortcoming, both ships proved to be effective anti-aircraft cruisers, and would come to be known as the ‘toothless terrors’.
If anyone knows the identity of the aircraft carrier on the right please feel free to add it.

SHIPGIRL APPRECIATION DAY - Monarch
Tumblr media
HMS Monarch, the preliminary design of the King George V-class battleships. Monarch, the prideful and elegant yet arrogant and disdainful half-sister of the KGV-class. Her whole existence, her whole reason of being, revolves around understanding herself. Why was she scrapped? Why were her blueprints disregarded in favor of - in her mind - an objectively worse design? Why, after disregarding her, did they bring her into existence? Just to mock her?
Monarch is a complex character. Deep inside her mind, nobody likes her. Nobody stands her. She's just an asset to be used in war, a number; a statistic. If she goes down, there are better battleships than her, so nobody would miss her. If she dies defending humanity, not even a memory of her career would remain.
But it's that true? Monarch might not understand what's the hype about a 'chainsaw man' but Vanguard won't shut up about it, because Vanguard cares about Monarch and wants to turn her into a weeb. Monarch might not understand why Georgia keeps inviting her to all these parties and adventures around the world, for Monarch only thinks Georgia is mocking her. Sometimes, however, Monarch understands why Georgia invites her to a party with Seattle and New Jersey. Sometimes, Monarch sees Duke of York inviting her to her mysterious estate as a sign of trust. Sometimes she sees Hood trusting her to take care of Queen Elizabeth as a sign that people value her. But only sometimes, because if Monarch is one thing, is stubborn. Stubborn and self-depricating. Hateful, not of others, but of herself.
Of course she was discarded. Triple 380mm turrets weren't a thing in the Royal Navy when she was designed. She relied on a different armor scheme that they didn't fully understand.
Some days Monarch doesn't want to get out of bed. She ponders if she vanished, would anyone miss her? "If a tree falls in a forest, but no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?" she asks herself, for she is a tree in a lone forest, and her fall wouldn't be heard.
Cornered by her own thoughts, Monarch fails to see the truth that people care about her. She hides behind an arrogant and superior demeanor to hide her many, many colorful complexes. She acts stronger than all others not because she believes in it, but because it comforts her. However, the truth is simple. It is also scary to her. She yearns to be of value to others, yet can't stand the idea of having to depend on others, as she can hardly keep herself afloat most days.
That is why you should headpat your local Monarch. Take her out for fancy diner. Arrange her to meet with her half-sisters that care about her - Howe and Duke of York. Put her in fleets with shipgirls that appreciate her presence. Force her to understand that she is wanted, because otherwise she will ignore the signs.
-----
Special thanks to @snowydragonsden for that beautiful Monarch x Georgia fic i linked. it means a lot to me.
also yeah she's basically me. that's why i love Monarch so much.
the next shipgirl will be Mainz!!! hopefully i publish that post within this month of August!

undead gang. who's in it. alternatively who's in littorio's party invite list bc you *know* shes throwing some in her private-beachside villa
undead gang undead gang, uhh erebus and terror are the obvious choice. as to who would employ necromancy to further her plans there's a lot of options, but only 2 real answers:
fdg and doy. fdg to further her plans for the Ironblood, DoY to please herself - undead servants to do the menial tasks, nothing that fancy, but stuff that would alleviate the work her entourage have to do
as to who littorio invites to her private beachside parties in her private estates that may or may not involve nudity and other things like that: powerful women. she's always tried to invite bismarck and fdg, but they always refuse, they have "more important issues to attend to". the KGV sisters (ALL of them, even Howe, sometimes all of them all once) have been seen at her private estate, and sometimes neither DoY nor Littorio could be seen for hours while the other women where enjoying themselves in the beach with all the fancy snacks and drinks Littorio can afford. some Eagle Union gals, like Washington or Enty, although Littorio doesn't enjoy Enty's presence - she's too oblivious to her flirting efforts.
the Zara-class is a staple, they're always at her estate - they even have a whole building/house dedicated for them. her sisters visit Littorio's estate at least once a month, Veneto and her discuss matters of the State while drinking wine that costs more than 5k€ a bottle, Impero always sleeps in her cushioned sofas and Roma loves sparring with the ancient swords Littorio owns as part of her private collection.

PR6 PREDICTIONS - Eagle Union
This time around the burgerboats have plenty of choices for at least 1 PR, maybe even a DR! and I am here to tell you all about them.
Like always: Just like last post: Do not treat any of the following choices as guaranteed. I would not bet money on any of these specific ones getting added as part of PR6 this year, it's just the ships I see as Very LikelyTM.
Let's start with the DRs. There are 2 main candidates and both are effectively the same thing.
Tumblr media
USS Delaware
Tumblr media
USS Kearsarge
Both are hybrid battleships. We only got 4 BBVs in Azur Lane and they all suck (even if waifu>meta) and are from Sakura. These 2 different hybrid battleships would be, well, different.
Delaware would have access to a squadron of 5 dive bombers that drop 10 bombs (2 per bomber), fast and tanky planes. Her upgraded ones are AD-1 Skyriders, which is a plane that exsisted I guess (I'm not an aviation nerd). Kearsarge, however, has access to attack aircraft; her only option being a squadron of 5 F8F Bearcat.
This means both ships would be able to equip any planes whatsoever (well, dive bombers or fighters, but any of those), unlike the existing BBVs.
Delaware is literally an Iowa with a runway strapped on top.
In terms of gunplay, Kearsarge is an absolute monster - her 12 406mm guns hit like trucks but are delivered in 3-5 shipping days (as in, they're slow). Delaware is ok, her shells are a bit faster because they have longer barrels.
Any of them could be the DR of the Eagle Union.
Tumblr media
USS Vallejo
A preliminary design of the Worcester-class light cruisers, she would undoubtedly be a PR. She's mediocre at best - Seattle is better in a lot of regards, but she has a high rate of fire and very good AA. She's an option but honestly, I don't think we'll get her.
Tumblr media
USS Tulsa
I can't find info on her existence IRL, so I assume she's a made-up Wargaming ship, meaning she counts for PR6.
Tulsa is a half-sister of the Oregon City-class, meaning she'd be a half-sister of Northampton II in AL (same way Ägir and Brünhilde or Monarch and the KGV-class can be considered half-sisters if you squint).
She fires incredibly, incredibly fast. Her reload rate is 5.8 seconds, which, even if she only has 6 guns, is scary because those are Des Moines guns. Des Moines is a famously great heavy cruiser in WoWs, having a faster-firing variant one tier lower is intimidating.
She would be PR and honestly, I see her addition far more likely than Vallejo. Besides, Tulsa is a cool name.
Tumblr media
USS Congress
A preliminary design of the Alaska-class.
Yes. A large cruiser.
I see Congress being the Georgia of USN vanguard ships. She would act as a herald of what's to come for when we inevitable get Alaska (and possibly Guam as well); same way Georgia acted as a tease for the Iowa-class (of whom we have only gotten NJ. PLEASE ADD MORE IOWAS. I DARE YOU). In terms of gameplay she's extremely fragile and weak in the wrong hands, but can be a useful asset. She has good AA, radar, hydroacoustic search, and only 7 305mm guns. But those are 7 very hard hitting 305mm guns, which can devastate anything that's a lower tier.
Tumblr media
USS Constellation
The capital ships don't stop coming.
Constellation is a what-if: "what if Lexington and Saratoga never underwent aircraft carrier conversions?"
The answer is a funny little battlecruiser. Well, "little". This shit has more free board than [insert hilarous comparison].
However, despite her obvious weakness of having a lot of flat armor on her sides, she's somewhat fast and has 8 406mm guns. That hit like trucks. Like all American 406mm guns (except you, Colorado. You suck.) And radar. And one of the best AAs of all battleships. And if you thought those were all her gimmicks, she also has a spotter plane, meaning she can fire at a ludicrous range.
Oh.
And torpedoes.
This bitch has torpedoes.
Tumblr media
USS Minnesota
She's a fat, slow, slumbering, ugly, hideous battleship. A Tillman design, ever wonder why the Colorados were the last Tillman design? yeah, because they suck.
Minnesota is an enlarged Colorado in the most literal sense. She has 40 seconds of reload. You can genuinely prepare coffee from scratch while you wait for her guns to reload. And her guns are disappointingly innacurate at times.
But when they hit.
Oh god. They hit.
Tumblr media
USS Nebraska.
If we get neither Kearsarge nor Delaware, there's always Nebraska.
She would be PR. She's a North Carolina that can launch Helldivers.
Tumblr media
USS Annapolis
The hail mary.
She's a super-super Des Moines. She's the heavy cruiser to end all heavy cruisers. If we get her, she would be a DR for sure, and would outdamage some of the already top-tier battleships in Azur Lane. It's impossible that we get her, but it would be incredibly funny.

what height do you think each KGV sister is?? im weak for tall women but i love when people have their hcs about their height lol
That's cool!
I've always pictured the sisters being somewhat similar heights as each other, with King George V herself being the tallest one, or Monarch if I'm including her as well.
So, basically, it would range from, 5'5" ~ 5'7"/166cm ~ 171cm, and it's without taking heels into account.
Pretty average heights, but most of my height headcanons for the shipgirls in general are closer to average with a couple of exceptions anyway, lol
To be more precise: KGV (~5'7"/~170cm) | PoW (~5'5"/~166cm) | DoY (~5'6"/~167cm) | Howe (~5'6"/~166.5cm) | Monarch (~5'7"/~171cm)

I have a question for you. How was the first time of their marriage when Queen Mary and King George V were formerly the duke and duchess of York?
I read that Mary George's sister Victoria (Toria) never liked each other and they were not on good terms. Even her other sisters Maud, Louise and Victoria were very jealous of Mary (for her painting talent, etc.) She made fun of Mary's hands. I read . Mary 's hands are a bit big and masculine so Mary didn't like her hands . What was King George doing when he was between these sisters and his wife ?
Especially when he was between Victoria and Mary. After all, Victoria is George's favorite sister. Besides, was George jealous of his wife?
For example, what was George's reaction when he saw her talking to a man or was praised for her beauty?
Sorry for taking so long.
You will make me very happy if you answer.
Thank you in advance 😊🙏
In my opinion, their relationship was pretty consistent throughout their marriage. They loved each other deeply while having many mini arguments (both were pretty high-strung).
Princess Victoria never liked Mary, since in the eyes of her and Q Alexandra, Mary was basically splitting up their family and taking their precious brother away. Mary's new higher status and attention also didn't help Victoria warm to her sister-in-law. In her defense, Victoria (and the other unmarried sister, Maud) were around Mary's age, and probably found her getting married, while they had a slim chance (in credit to Q Alexandra), upsetting.
Mary also didn't fit in with the Wales family. She was very much an indoor girl, while they were very Gibson and tomboy.
The hand comment is really rude since Mary was insecure about them. Mary was pretty tall girl, I think around 5'7, so she wasn't petite like Q Alexandra. So obv, her hands were not dainty piano fingers, but I've seen pictures of them and they weren't bad (probably around US 6-7 size).
Also, Louise (the oldest sister) was the one who wrote about Mary's "Wurttemberg hands", which historians usually see as a slight for being German, not being fully royal (Wurttemberg was seen as a questionable royal line), and her hands being unattractive. This insult is really perplexing coming from Louise since she married a commoner and had half royal children, which shows how petty and ridiculous they were to Mary.
I don't think George was aware of his sister's (or mother's) dislike of Mary. (I'm not sure if Mary knew about the hand insult or the other petty things his sisters wrote about her, but she definitely knew they didn't like her)
Mary was very pragmatic and probably didn't want George to get involved, since it wouldn't fix anything. This is because, the problem that caused their fury would never change (KGV putting Mary before them).
Regardless, if George witnessed his sister Victoria or his mother being passive toward Mary, he probably wouldn't react since he pitied them so much. George was walked all over by his mother, which he allowed because he knew what his mother went through (bad health, Eddy's death, extensive husband drama). Also, I think Mary forgave Q Alexandra and Pss Victoria for their mistreatment of her because she, like George, pitied them.
KGV was not jealous of his wife! I can't find the quote but when they went to Australia on tour, Mary was a hit, and George wrote to his mother how everyone praised her beauty and it made him proud.
I doubt anyone would straightforwardly flirt with her because of her status, so her talking to other men wouldn't have been a problem (since any gentleman would treat her with respect). I doubt anyone ever flirts with Duchess of Cambridge, even in private, since she, like Mary, are in line for the sacred position of Queen. Also, you would have to be very bold to flirt with the wife of someone who was in line for the throne.

KGV's rooms on a ship while he was Duke of York. I am not sure when this was exactly, I think the late 90s. Regardless, it's interesting to see the photos used, notice lots of Mary, his sisters, and his mother Alexandra.
