Kat is a kind and compassionate individual. She has no problem doing what is asked of her or helping someone out when they're in need. "I'm tired." Katrina mumbled.
"It's rude to complain during a meeting, your highness." Her tutor whispered from the place behind her.
The princess did her best to float a little less wearily. She hadn't meant for her thought to be spoken aloud, and was grateful that no one else in the council meeting seemed to notice.
"What do you mean we shouldn't raise the price on our imports? The other region is raising the cost to even send them, why can't we increase just to afford the transport?"
"The new tolls are undertow robbery! We don't need these imports to live. I say we just drop the agreement on the terms of their unreasonable and unexplained change in price!"
"But-"
As much as Katrina wanted to help her kingdom, the continued arguments started to become background noise. They always did, no matter what she tried. It didn't help that if you were doing anything with your hands other than taking notes or embellishing your point you were seen as paying even less attention then if you were staring into the void. So she stared into the void.
Her own opinions on these matters were few and far in between. Even when she had ones, she was still seen as too young and naive for them to be taken with any fleck of seriousness. She knew she was only there to sit still, look regal, and attempt to learn something about how she'd rule the kingdom someday.
She barely shook out of her blank state by noticing that the business owners had started shaking hands and preparing to leave. A glance back told her that her tutor knew her mind had been wandering. Great, wonderful, another lesson about whatever she missed and why it was so important. At least the tutor let her scratch little things into pebbles while they talked.
At least that's what she expected. She was surprised, when lesson time came around, to see her mother in the designated area. The tutor was watching strictly from the back corner of the room.
Katrina was nervous, but did the traditional single twirl and half bow before facing the Queen with a smile and saying, "Mother! What a lovely surprise. What is the occasion."
Her mother frowned, "You've been slacking in your studies again."
Katrina held her hands in front of her as she replied, "I am trying, Mother, I promise I am. It's just-"
"No more excuses!" The queen cut her off, "Your father would be here himself, but you know how busy he is." Her expression softened. "My darling katfish, I know you find the meetings dull, but you have to listen during them. Not only is the information important, but so are our relations with our subjects. You can't keep letting your head wander on the land."
"If I could carve or mess with a piece of coral, I'd be able to focus, but everyone glares at me when I do that." Katrina said.
"Why do you care about their looks? You're the princess. If that's what it takes for you to focus, then do it. No one will correct you out of respect and the glares will fade."
"But won't our relations suffer?"
"No more than you not listening makes them."
She took a breath. "Sometimes I wonder if..."
"What do you wonder, dear?" Her mother smiled.
Katrina sighed, "It's nothing. Just a silly notion that won't help me be a better ruler."
"Well, I'll see you at dinner, dear. Oh, and your lessons will be going over guest accepting and proper etiquette again for a few days. Your aunt is coming for a visit soon and I'd love to show my sister how far you've come since last time."
Before Katrina could respond, she opened her eyes.
Andrew was sitting on the floor next to her.
"Are you okay? You started crying in your sleep."
Katrina sat up on the couch and felt under her eyes. "I guess I was... I'm okay, just a bit homesick is all. I'll get past it."
He looked sympathetic, "Yeah, I get that. It set in really hard for me in the second week we were here. I know it's not much consolation, but it'll get better."
Katrina sighed, "Do you think-"
Her thought was interrupted by Harvey entering the shack, soon followed by Audrey.
Harvey examined the scene for a moment before asking, "Is everything okay?"
"I just had a bad dream. It's fine." Katrina frowned before getting up and heading near the kitchen. Before entering it, she turned and asked, "Do you guys think I did the right thing by coming here? I know your involvement was your choice, respectively, but I also admit part of me feels like I dragged you out here without any real idea of what I was doing."
As she leaned against the wall and started to slide down it, Andrew answered. "You seemed really miserable back there. Here you may not know where you're going, but I've seen how much fun you're having trying to figure it out."
"They expected more from you than you were able to handle back home, of course you need some time away to sort things out." Harvey responded, "We're with you on your choice to be here, and if you ever consider going back... I for one will be with you on that too."
"Absolutely!" Andrew said, "Though don't think that means we'd push you to go back without believing you would want to. If any of us find we want to leave and you don't, we'll let you know and go back alone without any hard feelings between us."
Audrey stayed silent.

Trev is working a lot this weekend (from home) so I’m trying to take this time to do the things I’ve been wanting to do more of... Art stuff. Heh...
I am notoriously bad at finishing (or even getting very far at all) in anything I start. So I’m trying to stay motivated to work on my web comic.
The other day I wrote a first script (this is different than the initial planning notes). It’s one page long, but given how much is conveyed in images, it won’t be very long once I’m finished with it. It will, however, take me forever to draw I am guessing. I’ve also been working on character design for my main girl. The story is told from her perspective, it follows her life. So it’s pretty important that I be able to draw her quickly and with a lot of consistency. I haven’t even started working on other characters yet (in terms of looks). I’m trying not to over plan or over think any of it. I think doing that makes me feel like I’ve put a ton of work into it without getting anything out of it, but really it’s all just too much planning and thinking. I’m hoping that just plugging away at it for a while when I get free days to do so will be enough to get a good momentum going.
So right now, I just need to keep working on it. It’s hard to not post everything I make because I’m so bad about wanting instant gratification... I’m trying to get better about that.
I’m gonna stop avoiding and go do some drawing now!
I think I’m going to call it Katfish.

INDUSTRY WATCH: Who's Who and What's What In The Defence Sector
(Volume 24-7)

Germany and Norway officially joined the European/NATO program to acquire Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft along with Netherlands and Luxembourg. The two nations committed to participating in the project through the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at NATO headquarters.
Known as the Multinational Multi-Role Tanker Transport Fleet (MMF), the program was initiated by the European Defence Agency (EDA) in 2012, according to Airbus.
The program is funded by the four nations who will have the exclusive right to use these NATO–owned aircraft, which will operate in a pooling arrangement, the firm noted in a news release.
The aircraft will be configured for in-flight refuelling, transporting passengers and cargo, and medical evacuation flights. The first two aircraft have already been ordered. They will be delivered in 2020 from Airbus Defence and Space’s tanker conversion line at Getafe, near Madrid. Five additional aircraft will now be ordered, and that order will include options for up to four further aircraft, Airbus added.
The U.S. and Canada are negotiating an agreement for the continued provision of maintenance and support services for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s C-17 fleet. That deal will be worth around $195-million U.S. Boeing, which built the C-17 transport aircraft, currently helps maintain those planes for the RCAF. That agreement expires on September 20, according to Public Services and Procurement Canada.
Canada purchases C-17 maintenance and support from the U.S. government through the Foreign Military Sale system. According to the U.S. government, the work will be done at Boeing’s facilities at Long Beach, Calif., and in St. Louis, Missouri. Lockheed Martin will also be involved.
In addition, the U.S. government noted that there are currently 13 employees from Boeing now in Canada who provide C-17 technical support on a regular basis.
Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles has entered a framework agreement with the Bundeswehr to supply over 2,200 state-of-the-art trucks. In embarking on this project, Rheinmetall says it will play a leading role in modernizing the German military’s fleet of thousands of logistic vehicles. The agreement is structured to run seven years and the framework contract covers a total of 2,271 HX2 family vehicles. Delivery of the first lot will take place during the 2018–2021 time frame, according to Rheinmetall.
Naval Group (formerly DCNS) reports that it has successfully achieved a European first: the coordinated deployment of three types of drones: underwater, airborne and surface. The deployment was made possible because of the DCNS I4 drones mission system.
During the June demonstration, it was possible to detect a suspect vessel, which was identified and neutralized in less than 20 minutes, according to Naval Group.
The drones included:
The D19, an underwater drone, for the detection phase.
The IT180 UAV, a rotary-wing drone, for the identification phase.
REMORINA, a naval drone, for the final step of interception and neutralization.
Kraken Sonar Systems Inc. has signed a teaming agreement with ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH.
The objective of the agreement is to combine the expertise and technology of both companies to provide the Royal Canadian Navy with the optimal solution for its Remote Mine Disposal System (RMDS). In addition to the RMDS program, Kraken has teamed with ATLAS to provide military-grade KATFISH towed sonar systems to a leading Asian navy as part of a major mine-countermeasures procurement program, the firm added in a news release.
ATLAS and Kraken officials say they are looking forward to jointly pursuing further opportunities for both the Canadian and global naval defence market.
Dr. Jens Bodo Koch, CEO of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH, stated: “We are pleased to announce our cooperation with Kraken. By working together both companies can use their experience in sonar systems and maritime technology to meet customers’ demands throughout the international maritime defence market. Our teaming is in alignment with our strategy to embrace new technologies, rapidly deploy smart products, improve platform efficiency and offer cost-effective solutions for our customers.”
Karl Kenny, Kraken’s President and CEO, said, “ATLAS represents the ideal partner for us in the military market. By offering advanced sensor solutions we expect that underwater vehicles will become more affordable and reliable, smarter and more closely aligned with operator needs.”
Carleton University conferred an honorary Doctor of Engineering on Lockheed Martin Canada’s Rosemary Chapdelaine in recognition of her career as an award-winning mechanical engineer and talented international administrative leader. Chapdelaine began her career as a mechanical engineer at IBM’s Federal Systems Division. She currently serves as vice-president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Canada, where she leads a team of 600 employees working across the country. Her program portfolio is valued at over $1.5-billion and her customer base extends around the world, from Canada and the United States to the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Chile, according to Lockheed Martin Canada.
MBDA has developed what is calls NCES (Network-Centric Engagement Solutions). This new network-centric, ground-based air defence architecture is based on the latest real-time data exchange protocols, the firm noted in a news release.
The NCES architecture is suitable for a wide number of organizations, ranging from mobile batteries up to territorial defence systems. It can also easily integrate existing ground-based air defence systems, by means of a gateway converting the data normally exchanged by the battery with the ground-to-air defence tiers above or below it, MBDA pointed out.
Saab’s Gripen E, the next generation of that fighter jet, made its first flight on June 15. That is a major development for the plane. Deliveries are set for 2019.
Sweden and Brazil have purchased the Gripen E. Sixty E models will be acquired by Sweden’s air force, while Brazil is buying 36 jets, including eight of the twin-seat F versions.
Leonardo Helicopters and IMP Aerospace & Defence have added more Canadian industrial partners to its team that plans to pursue the contract to modernize the RCAF’s fleet of Cormorant search and rescue helicopters. CAE, GE Canada and Rockwell Collins in Canada have joined the team. Other key Canadian companies will also be announced in the near future.

I knew damn well she wasn’t my friend that she just uses me because my parents are never and being the desperate idiot i am lets her come over ever every time. we ended up meeting up with some of her friends to smoke weed. honestly its not my thing i dont even know why i went in the first place. we end up at a park i was only one who didnt smoke and everyone was already buzzed. so i was walking away from the car to get some air. they started laughing at me saying that i was bad built i felt like crying, but i didnt. then one of them said “ your gonna make the poor girl kill herself” and everyone stared laughing. i still didnt cry. then the next day i asked her to give me a shout out on ig. one boy commented “katfish” with laughing faces and someone else said that if they fucked they would have to look away. I'll probably get some flack for this, but I really think he digs a nice, cozy missionary. And I'll EXPLAIN.

i really hope i’m not the only person who has said this but i really really really appreciate the fact that you don’t use “baby girl” as a term of endearment joel says. i have seen almost every other writer using that and it’s just such an ick. thats literally the nickname he called his DAUGHTER and other writers are having him call his lover/partner that and like in a sexual way?!?! absolutely not!!! i much rather prefer how you use darlin or honey, it’s so much more fitting and in character for him and also it’s not weird 😭 idk it’s also the oversexualization of the name now especially because of the hbo series and pedro pascal’s voice, which i get it he’s attractive, but let’s not sexualize the father-daughter nickname, esp the trauma of joel losing his daughter 😭 anywayssss this is just a long way of saying you’re literally the best joel writer i have ever seen and i am absolutely in love with your blog 🫶

idk if this is just me but whenever a pic of joel from the ellie+dina dance scene in part 2 comes up on my pinterest, after joel defends ellie but she gets made at him, he just looks so heartbroken like i cannot put into words how sad his face makes me and i cannot help but think about being there to comfort him and reassure him afterwards because he was just doing what he knows best which is to protect his loved ones 😭 also now that im thinking about it, sarah died before she could really get into the *rebellious teen years* so hes going into this age/stage blind with ellie and the fact that shes just entirely different from sarah, hes just trying his best and i am going to cryyyyyy ugh!

I did see that. It makes sense. TLOU 2 is at least twice as long as Part I.
They absolutely are killing Joel off. They have to. You have no story without it. It’s the catalyst to everything. Without that, Ellie stays home and cozy in Jackson and lives out her days.
I think it’ll be pretty early, maybe episode 2 if they stretch it but that would make episode 1 pretty boring. You can’t start with the random flashbacks that span 3 years and the museum works better when he’s gone, it’s more emotional. TLOU 2 is very chaotic time wise so it’ll be interesting to see how they do it. It sounds like they’ll be making Ellie and Abby’s stories linear vs the time hop back to restart Seattle in Abby’s eyes, which would make it easier for viewers. I personally think doing all of Ellie’s story and then starting season 3 in the same moment season 2 started in Abby’s eyes is more interesting but I think that’s just me.
I think it’ll be Seattle season 2 and Santa Barbara season 3.
I sincerely hope they add more backstory for Abby prior to her golfing escapade if they want the audience to have any of the sympathy they want you to feel for her. I feel none after she does what she does 😂 idc if he murdered her entire family and her dog too.
Neil has said he doesn’t care that people hate TLOU 2, and he better own his bullshit trauma porn he’s so proud of. Everyone is about to see the magic of Bruce Straley’s input lol.
