I still haven’t been able to find a specific name for these props as maiko and geiko just call them Golden Shells (金の貝 - Kin No Kai), but they’re used for a dance called Kai Zukushi (貝づく���) which means “Many Shells” ^^

Fantastic obi depicting kaizukushi (assorted shells) woven with metallic threads over purple-black ground with kagome (basket weave) pattern. 

The iridescence of the awabi (sea-ear/abalone) is especially striking!

What are the dances that require props other than the usual (maiougi, mai tenugui, kasa, hanagasa)? I know himesanjya uses kagura suzu but are there any other props used? Can you also cover himesanjya in your dance series?

That’s really hard to say specifically as the use of props tends to depend on what the dance school prescribes.
