@ghosttmachine tagged me in a get to know you meme thing (tyyy!!)! So. Here i am posting for oncce lez goooo
Last song:
Technical answer is post traumatic blues by corey taylor, bc ive been using the spotify dj thing and it keeps giving me metal that i o ly kinda like. The funner answer was rhe barbie movie ost since me and my friends literally just got back from it n my friend mariana had me play it in the car. Not rlly my thing was catchy (barbie movie was good btw! Posts abt it being like. Not the deepest critique of social issues and the like are correct but it was a fun time w a lot of heart + rlly great production value + honestly. Very funny. And i watched it w two of my best friends so :})
Currently reading:
For books:
When the Angels Left the Old Country
I haven't touched it in a hot sec, but its a queer, historical fantasy ya book based in jewish folklorex about an angel and a demon that leave europe, after a girl goes missing from the village they've set up shop in. It's very light and whimsical which is not my usual fare, but I'm enjoying it! Its very heartfelt and the two main leads have very good chemistry. And its always cool to see angel/demon lore outside the usual christian sphere.
For manga: steel ball run (part 7 of jojos bizarre adventure) its. A story about a cross continental horse race to find the body parts of jesus. Which is the most coherent way i can put it. Im rereading it w two of my friends rn and im enjoying it! It isnt my favorite part, but its up there, and features some of the best stuff in the series. This is. Also a story featuring a pair of ride or die protagonists with a very strong dynamic and chemistry (honestly, best 'set' of protags in the series) and so much comes from their bond. Its at the point in the series where it started getting a monthly release and it shows, w some rlly gorgeous art. Gyro and Diego are highlights artwise because the former doesnt have a stand he just. Has these steel balls he spins and throws around, so you get very dynamic shots of him just. Chucking them that the author uses in super creative ways to lead the eye and compose panels and the latter. Can turn himself and other things into dinosaurs. Have you ever seen a dinosaur ride a horse? Its fucking sick. It also has some interesting themes of american imperialism and christianity, of all things, which i think are done, well in some respects, esp given the authors track record. IT ALSO HAS SOME OF THE WORST STUFF IN THE SERIES THAT MAKES ME WANT TO KILL HIM W HAMMERS.
Currently watching:
Nothing in particular, but ive got a p big to watch list (Trigun, mob psycho, etc) and i just watched the barbie movie, like i said.
Current obsession:
Guess. Take a guess.
Jfc jojos bizarre adventure is holding me at gunpoint. Its not good its not bad (besides when it is) it its own tier of media. I forgot how much 15 year old me was obsessed w it and so i foolishly rewatched it thinking id be. Normal. I was wrong. God. I've never seen anything like it! It's so clearly a passion project from someone who's very eccentric and so it goes from absurd and stupid and comedic to circling right back to being very human and poignant. Like, it's about love! And familial trauma! And prevailing in the face of great tragedy! And also killing the president because jesus told you so! It's got a myriad of flaws from technical writing issues to genuinely tasteless/bigoted content, so its not some untouchable media, but ive been enjoying it a lot.
Part 5 and 8 are my favorites for very different reasons.
Part 5, Golden Wind, is abt a bunch of weird mobsters on a roadtrip through italy to kill their boss. It has a very charming supporting cast who are a sort of found family of societal rejects, brought together by this guy named Bruno who acts as a leader + mentor + sort of dad? To them. They're all surprisingly fleshed out characters, esp for this early on in the series, and their group dynamic, combined w some of the best fights in the entire show, really sell this part. The main character and main villain are. Not good. Sans a few aspects. Tho. Like i forget giorno is there half the time. (Giorno is my beloved stale cracker of a character but hes MY stale cracke, tho)
Part 8, Jojolion, is uh. Hm. It follows this amnesiac dude who wakes up in the dirt, as he tries to piece together the person he was. It's set in an au version of the town from part 4, w some characters being spins on old ones. Its the most recent part, and it shows. Its a lot better structured, paced, and developed compared to earlier parts. The mystery running through it has a lot of fun twists and turns, the themes are coherent, and the pace is slow, but not meandering. The supporting cast is fun (the lead's romantic interest is an actually decent jojo woman and they have a very cute relationship, and the family the main character is sort of adopted into are all fucking insane) but the real draw for me was the main character. Josuke (the second. Theres another josuke from an alternate universe in part 4, anyway) is probably my favorite jojo. I could go on about him, but compared to the others, he feels the most real? Theres this very grounded sense of frustration abt him as he tries and fails to piece together who he is, while everyone around him seems to have somethimg they need from him, or an idea of who he SHOULD be. He isnt a hero, he isnt even all that noble, hes just trying to find himself and if anyone out there loves him. He's blunt, one track minded, and is doing the jojo equivalent of spamming x to skip through all the dialogue bc hes not here for anyones shit beside his own. Jojolion somehow captures the feeling of being a weird, displaced pseudo adult trying to piece yourself together, while everything Keeps Fucking Happening. I love it so much. But by god does the ending suck hoooooly shit oh my god dude jesus christ. Fucking. I hate tohru i hate tohru i hate tohru fjcjendnxzlzm. Anyway jobin sweep
OTHER OBSESSIONS INCLUDE OCS AND DND.
Im currently running a csm tabletop n curse of strahd game, and am in a ravenloft game. They're all very different but i love them all.
Ravenloft game is a sort of sequel to the curse of strahd game i was in a while bsck
I play pageturn (kenku paladin) and coda (changeling flavored as fallen angel, bard). Ones a 13 year old w a kill drive going through a double crisis of faith while somehow being the heart of the group and the others a shapeshifting corrupted celestial, whos trying to find themself. we are currently exploring the fomain the latter was imprisoned in and have found the eye of vecna and. I am. Excited and concerned for what our wonderful dm has cooked up.
Chainsaw Man game is a high stakes office drama following the worst group of devil hunters youve ever seen. Its more episodic and light than my other games which is a nice change of pace, and i rlly like the energy our group brings to the table. I am always horrified and surprised by whatever new government supplied human rights violation they commit next! Every character is uniquely sad, while still maintaining the token csm dark comedy abt them. We are currently revisiting a mystery allll the way back from our first session and im stoked for some stuff i have planned.
Sippy Crew (curse of strahd game) is drawing to a close and ahh i could make a whole post abt how much these guys mean to me. Its been a joy dming for this group of freaks and watching as they come together not into a found family, but a group of distinctly doomed, but fiercely loyal individuals. They've had two pc deaths, even more close calls, and have lost so much, but they're pushing through like dandelions in concrete. Its genuinely the most emotionally invested ive been in a ttrpg, and am so excited, to see their journey come to a close, and will miss them dearly.
Both jojo and ttrrpgs have been a way to reconnect with friends i dont usually talk to as much, and strengthen the bonds of the friends that i do, which is why theyve hit so hard, haha.
anwyaY this turned out way longer than it needed to be bUt.
@turtleslothart @500sunstone you. Do this.

Okay so, this has been the most controversial conversation in this fandom since 5x09...but here we go.
A few months ago, I rewatched s5, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m on Bellamy’s side, and before you kill me, let me explain.
This does not mean I don’t understand why Clarke did what she did. Quite the opposite actually. On rewatch, I realized how literally everything she had been doing all season was to prevent Madi from becoming commander. So, when Bellamy presents the idea to her, she’s blindsided. So much so that “the true believers have all the guns” flies right over her head.
Because to her, that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter that right now, nobody who would harm Madi has the means to do so. It just doesn’t matter. Clarke’s priority isn’t just keeping Madi safe. It’s preventing her from becoming commander. Even if it won’t kill her today, somehow, some way, Clarke believes it will lead to her death, and she can’t let that happen.
Most of all, she doesn’t understand how Bellamy would let that happen, and so, she won’t even hear him out. He tries to say that he and Gaia will protect Madi, but she doesn’t let him. Because that doesn’t matter. Again, what matters is that (in Clarke’s eyes) Madi will die some day if she ascends now.
She even goes as far as to make a deal with the devil--who was locked up and unable to get to Madi before Clarke let her out.
She just...loses it. Bellamy was her anchor, what kept her centered, and without him, she spiraled out of control. She made a deal with the devil and left her best friend to die, telling herself it was what she had to do. If Bellamy couldn’t be trusted, if he wasn’t as devoted to her as she had been to him, she was all alone in this. She was the only one she could trust to protect Madi from this world.
It’s not right, but it makes sense. Clarke has no idea that Bellamy is just as devoted to her. He let her believe that poisoning his sister was about everything but to stop Clarke’s execution. He was afraid of admitting to Clarke (and to himself) how devoted he was to her--even after all this time, even more so than his actual girlfriend--that she wound up believing he didn’t care.
Just let that sink in.
He loved her too much to let her know, and that’s why she leaves him. And in turn, her leaving and pretending not to care (because he “doesn’t”) is what makes him think she’s not as devoted to him as he is to her.
Jfc, they are t r a g i c.
Anyways, my point is that even though I agree with Bellamy, I fully understand why Clarke acted the way she did, as does Bellamy. And along with him, I have forgiven her. For the same reason. She did what she did not because she didn’t care, but because she was traumatized, and actually, cared too much.
I always cared, she told E.cho, right before ensuring that she won’t die--even though Echo just tried to kill her, even though she believed Bellamy to be dead--and all because he loved her. You can tell me that Clarke Griffin doesn’t love care about Bellamy Blake, but I won’t believe you. And neither would Bellamy. Thanks to the radio calls, he knows just how much she cares.
Plus, she came through in the end. She let her daughter go off into the middle of a fucking war zone to save him, stopped the missiles from launching, and was ultimately a large part of saving the day.
Bellamy sees that, recognizes it for what it is. Trying to make up things and do better. It’s something he knows all too well. Something he’ll appreciate greatly, but also (hopefully) lead him to tell her she doesn’t have to tear herself apart just to gain his and everyone else's forgiveness. Because he can’t speak for them, but to him, she’s already forgiven. There was nothing to forgive in the first place. Not to him.
And while the others are attacking her, if there’s anything I need from season 6, it’s for him to defend her. Clarke made mistakes, that’s true, but she did so in thinking that she wasn’t one of them. That she was alone. Bellamy knows that now. It’s why he made sure to invite her to the bridge to decide the fate of the human race. To include her. Let her know she’s part of the family.
What I’m trying to say is that Clarke can work to earn forgiveness because she believes she needs to earn it while also already being forgiven. The two things are not mutually exclusive, contrary to popular belief.
However, we know that Clarke will be begging for forgiveness next season, based off what both Eliza and Jason have said, so at this point, all I can hope for is that Bellamy has her back.

A non-exhaustive list of academic-ish articles on film theory that I’d love to write but probably won’t get around to:
Alita: Battle Angel, Avatar, Aliens, Terminator, James Cameron’s broader filmography, and the separation of the self from the body (aka what the hell is this guy’s deal. I need to know)
Alita: Battle Angel, “Strong Female Characters” and how the cure to cinematic misogyny is not having a woman punch people (why we need to deconstruct story structures which promote or condone misogyny and toxic masculinity, rather than simply centering a woman in these story structures)
A related, or possibly the same essay, Alita Battle Angel vs Wonder Woman 2017, or how to write a naïve character without depriving her of agency
And finally, Alita Battle Angel is racist, mostly in typical ways that should be apparent to anyone with decent critical thinking skills, but I could probably circle back to my first topic (separation of self from the body) specifically as it relates to Mahershala Ali’s character and get into some meaty stuff there
The Man From UNCLE as a film which consistently subverts gender tropes and stereotypes, especially surrounding masculinity and the expectations for the male action movie lead, and why this may have contributed to its poor performance with reviewers
Beasts of the Southern Wild - I don’t have any firm theses on this yet, it’s been a few years since I’ve watched it so I’d have to refresh my memory, but probably lots that could be said about the magical realism aspects of the film, and of course racism and classism
Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, and why this film does everything that A Star is Born tried to do, but does it way better and much more interestingly and didn’t make me feel like I’d wasted 2 hours of my life
The Handmaiden - A loooot to talk about here. Power dynamics between Japan and its neighbouring countries (obviously Korea, in this specific case, but that dynamic has parallels within the region) as played out on a personal level, fetishization of queer women (not saying that’s what the movie does, I’d have to rewatch and dig into it more to get a thesis on that). Oh and I am FASCINATED by this film’s use of gaze. And how gaze interacts with architecture and space.
The Circle - Yes, that Emma Watson/Tom Hanks tech company film. It was spectacularly unsuccessful as a film, a story, or really as anything, and I want to deconstruct why it sucked so bad
A non-exhaustive list of other films I’d write about in no particular order
The Favourite
Romeo + Juliet
Wes Anderson I like your films but you are kinda a misogynist (yeah let’s just cover his whole filmography because why not)
Widows (race, relationships, misogyny, and the messy intersection between those three things. Also women’s platonic relationships)
Disobedience
The Red Turtle and why I, a lover of animation, fucking hated it (spoiler: because the male main character, who admittedly has been having a bad time lately but that isn’t a valid excuse imho, acts like a dick and is rewarded for it)
The Beguiled (gaze, power dynamics)
The Florida Project
Annihilation (admittedly first I’d have to understand this mindfuck of a film before writing about it, but if I could get there I’m sure there’s lots to be said)
The Fall (not the Gillian Anderson tv show, the Lee Pace movie)
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri (idk if I’d get much further than “it’s racist” but if I were really motivated I might be able to deconstruct that a bit further) Update: wrote the “it’s racist” post. HERE
Dunkirk and perpetuating the myth of White History
Atomic Blonde
ETA
Tomb Raider (2018) and why it is at best “two-steps-forward-one-step-back” to give a white woman no romance in a story if by doing so you deprive characters of colour, namely a Chinese man and iirc a black woman, the opportunity to be romantic interests/leads
Beauty and the Beast (Emma Watson version) it’s almost impressive how this film goes out of its way to subvert its own marketing department’s attempts to make it sound feminist
Their Finest - something something war something lesbianism (I’d have to watch this again)
London Road - yes I know no one else saw this film. Even I can concede that “musical about a series of horrific serial killings” is a difficult sell to most people. But it’s a good film. Watch it. There’s lots to talk about here
Home (Dreamworks) which has a surprising amount to say about colonialism for a children’s film
Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, absent parents and the struggle of self-determination for boys coming of age. Or, portrayals of boyhood in the filmography of Taika Waititi
Kill Bill , Strong Female Characters” and how the cure to cinematic misogyny is not having a woman punch people and JFC these films are misogynistic
Anna Karenina is unadaptable as a film so please stop trying to make that happen, everyone, because by trying to cram it into a 2-3 hour movie everyone drops the Levin/Kitty story and without that you lose literally half of the actual story of the book
ETA (29/03/2019) wrote a post at least touching on the basics about racism in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri so I’m crossing that off the list for now.

GLEE was always bad and I can’t believe I watched 4 seasons of it lol. I stopped watching at some point but I rewatched it a while ago and from the randomly selected cringe scenes people put on Twitter I realize now that it was just always BAD. Honestly IMO Ryan Murphy and his shows are overrated. I don’t think his shows are ever that great even AHS which I like a few seasons but it still has his handy work all over it. His shtick is shocking/mean spirited humor because it’s EdGy and trying to tackle issues that he has business of handling like race and disabilities. I guess it works for some people but it always rubbed me the wrong way because I never found it to be funny or entertaining when mean people are mean.
Yeah I agree, I feel like he gets a lot of traction because his shows are soapy and outrageous, but JFC they do not age well. He’s really an edgelord.

Voyager review.
This is long overdue (I was caught up with life stuff and had to stop liveblogging), but I actually finished watching Star Trek: Voyager last week.
Judging by the length of this post, HOLY SHIT, do I have a lot of feelings.
TL;DR: I’ll give it a 7/10.
My verdict:
Voyager had a number of truly extraordinary moments sprinkled among clusters of average to very low points.
I still loved Janeway a lot, even though there’s notable issues with her characterization. (Kate Mulgrew’s gr9)
Seven’s introduction gave the show a much-needed kick up the next level, but they ended up overdoing it imo.
Some characters are more developed than others, but I found the crew to be generally likeable.
Continuity? What’s that?
prime directive... prima directa... primal dialga... perma dry roof... pearl digestive... prophylactic dental... partial deposit... parking at disneyland...
I still enjoyed Voyager very much, but oh boy, did this show have many, many flaws. I also took it upon myself to read up on Voyager’s behind-the-scenes issues for context, and jfc, the production is even messier than the text. Put two and two together and it’s obvious why the show took the course it did.
I’ll go into detail behind the cut. It’s very long. Spoilers ahead :).
[CUT]
I’ll start with the negative points:
The ‘Endgame’ episode was... abrupt. It was still emotionally impactful, but it wasn’t the most graceful way to tie things up. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the show was given fair warning that the 7th season was going to be their last? If that’s the case, I expected more pre-finale plot development before this out-of-pocket Deus Ex Machina plot of future!Janeway pointing out a shortcut to the Alpha Quadrant. Or at least all the Borg encounter episodes could’ve added up to building Voyager’s path home. Endgame’s resolution is acceptable, but it really should’ve been spread out for the last half season.
The serial, episodic format of Voyager ultimately led to all the aspects in which it fell short. Particularly in continuity and character development. There were bad episodes, average, above average, and then there were GREAT ones.
But, it’s always Schrodinger’s cat on whether the next episode is going to be watchable or not, as well as which Janeway is going to show up.
At times, Janeway would be stringent when it comes to the prime directive. Other times she unquestionably abandons Starfleet protocol to be a good samaritan. One day she backs out of complicated situations in order to prevent any losses of life. Another day she’s adamant in achieving her goals even if means accruing some casualties on the way. She gave Harry shit for sleeping with a girl from an alien race without getting medically checked, but then makes out with Devore!Spencer Tracy-lite Bashyk next episode.
Over the course of the show, Voyager had many episodes that were forgettable. I found myself having to skip a lot of the holodeck fillers (Fair Haven is the worrrrrrssttt), some of the bottle episodes where the crew get first contact with alien races that would predictably betray them, and at times near the end, my fatigue of Seven and the Doctor can get me to tune out of their more unimpressive episodes.
But then there’s also episodes where they delve deep into character development, but they never acknowledge the character’s growth in any subsequent episodes. The better episodes of Voyager often feel like missed opportunities for more in-depth exploration. B’Elanna undergoing depression was a great plot point that they could have explored more. The episode they did on her about her self-hate for her Klingon half was great but how she came to terms with her Klingon identity felt incomplete. Her character always fascinated me, but I seriously needed more.  #JusticeForB’ElannaTorres
The episode “Mortal Coil”, for example, explores Neelix coping with the loss of his belief system after experiencing death. HIs usual positive outlook was compromised because he realized there’s no heaven and he’s questioning the point of living. Neelix is far from my favourite, but I kind of relate to what he went through. Before the next episode started, it looked like he’s headed to a darker path. Perhaps this change will interfere with his approach to being the morale officer, or he’d don a more assertive aura in future eps. Then he’d be a more interesting character. But NOPE, next episode he’s back to his old sunny self. Missed. Opportunity.
I’m going to echo what I said in this post I made awhile back. I do love Seven’s character, I truly do, but the balanced family dynamic of the crew was special. She didn’t have trouble integrating into the cast, but she pretty much hijacked the show from then on. She’s a great, well-developed character but I found myself longing for the others to get as much depth as she did.
I just read up on the Jeri Ryan/Brannon Braga stuff,  the beef between Mulgrew and Ryan, the writers willfully shortchanging the actors they don’t like (Beltran, Wang getting less focus episodes), the intense working conditions, and just... the general toxicity of the environment (not to mention Rick Berman’s an ass). I see how the behind the scenes conflicts could’ve influenced the show and now that’s just... really irresponsible.
Now, for the positives!
The writing of her character is flawed, but I thought Captain, *ahem* ADMIRAL Kathryn Janeway was a splendid captain. We wouldn’t know which Janeway showed up each episode, but I love all the versions lmao. Before I binged Voyager, I was already defensive of her from a symbolic standpoint, being the only female captain to lead a show and all. But it turns out that defensiveness was justified. Janeway is both strong, yet fragile. Authoritative, but warm. Adventurous and scientific, but can also get reclusive. She was overly curious, stubborn, and indecisive, but ultimately handled her woes with grace. She proudly demonstrates her iron will, but her empathy for others always prevailed. Her character arc took many paths and turns (intentional or not) but I enjoyed how the character was conducted as the leader of the ship. I felt a different affection she particularly shows to her crew that I don’t think other Trek captains ever did.
If anything, I have to credit Kate Mulgrew for masking the inconsistent writing quite well. Janeway came off as layered and multi-faceted instead of mischaracterized.
As for the rest of the cast: they each have their own quirks and they all helped prompt the dynamic of the team. A number of them fell flat towards the end, like Kim & Chakotay, (but I guess it was for the best because of the racist elements of the Chakotay character and Kim’s infantilization. I really wish the writers got more creative with them though.) But either way, all the chracters contributed to the crew in their own way. Each one of them did have a standout episode. They all took a while to find their footing at the beginning, but they all eventually grow into it.
Now, when Voyager has a great episode, it’s REALLY, REALLY GREAT.
By far my favourite episode in the entire show is the “Year of Hell”. There’s been plenty of episodes where the crew undertook mishaps but always came out unscathed. But in the “Year of Hell”, this conflict took the crew to dark, new places that really challenged their limits. They were plunged in a darker place of total despondence and desperation, where they got in each other’s nerves, they sacrificed things they love, and the situation tested their hope and will for survival. The desperate situation made for compelling interaction between the characters in how their dynamic changed after their morals were compromised. I also enjoy the laid back nature of Voyager, but I do wonder what it would’ve been like if the whole show had been like this?
Other favourites were:
Living Witness-- a poignant examination of the nuances behind historical remembrance. An issue that is still relevant today. At first I was going to be annoyed if the point of the story is to clear Voyager’s good name, but later on, The Doctor says that the obsolete Voyager’s reputation is irrelevant to the creating peace between the two factions. *cough*Japan downplaying wartime aggression to clear their name*cough*
Timeless-- just a well-done episode. Yes, once again, they dabble into alternate timelines, but this episode brings such emotional weight and splendidly tackles the issue of survivor’s guilt. Kim’s finest moment. Also, Geordi my king!
Deadlock-- Another space-time episode, but the duplicates really posed a formidable challenge to the crew. It was also a testament to their nobility and sacrifice.
Scorpion-- the game-changer for the show. Also, Seven’s first appearance!
Equinox-- again, this episode featured the crew encountering a real moral dilemma. One of the few episodes that treated the prime directive with a non-simplistic, nuanced approach.
Resolutions, The Chute - ‘cause I’m shipper trash.
Anyway, this was tiring to write. I’m thinking of taking a break from sci-fi shows for a while, then maybe I’ll rewatch TNG or BSG again. Voyager was the only Trek I haven’t watched chronologically and it was nice to witness ‘new’ Star Trek again. This is really long, but I spent over 120 hours watching this, sooooo...

My QOTS 5x10 live reactions:
I saw the first 10 minutes over the weekend which was, what, like the “previously on” and 8 minutes?
So I feel like I have some time to warm up here during Samara OF ALL PEOPLE getting a voiceover in the FINALE episode
Can we get to the fake death reveal already? Can Pote die for real already?
They put the KG tribute in the last episode which is nice but where was this when it actually should have been dealt with?
This dialogue between Pote and Samara is just so…why WHY?
We all know James didn’t kill the love of his life. Who are you kidding? And that ILY is not even the right flashback he had in the police station. He’s thinking about when they get to reunite.
The thing with seeing the first 10 minutes means I have to rewatch Kote and that’s just…that’s not necessary. Kote saying ILY is so not necessary.
She’s not dead. They didn’t burn her body. That ain’t even her. Stop it with this ~shock value~.
Ooh okay finally stuff I haven’t seen yet!
So wait. THIS is what they went with? Devon dealing DIRECTLY with Boaz? JFC.
Relax, Chicho. She’s fine. What wasn’t fine was you saying she had so much on her plate and making a decision for her last episode. That’s still not cool in any way shape or form.
Marcel with that “NO” hhnnngggg. I like mad Marcel!!!
WE KNOW SHE’S NOT DEAD. This ceremonial thing in the field to make it seem real is more wasted time. Get your pictures and send ‘em to Devon, J! You gotta go get your girl!
Can we take a second to appreciate how good James’ hair looked during that phone call with Devon though lol
SON OF A BITCH WAS GONNA KILL JAMES
DAMN RIGHT YOU SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD J
James has to go help KA now, doesn’t he? Can’t KA figure this shit out for herself ughhhh
So they treat James badly, like he’s the worst, all season. And he’s the one who has to warn them? Must he do everything around here? SMH.
Every Kote love declaration eats away at me and grows the hate in my heart
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR KA DRIVE GTFO
Sunglasses at night yeah that’s not suspicious at all
“See if someone will lend you one” and you can’t do it?
The only thing I feel bad about is the plan going a bit awry, not Pote being arrested tbh
James is here to rescue KA isn’t he?
This is A LOT of Chicho.
You found nothing on James probably because James isn’t running around like a chicken with his head cut off like you idiots
“Pote isn’t a risk” lol because Pote is dumb
Oh the flash forward is now??? With 20 minutes left??? Our girl T is still assumed dead?
Chicho looks so handsome
Ok does this mean T & J have been together in hiding this whole time? FOR FOUR YEARS? *cries in Jeresa*
so. Wait. Ok. Marcel and Pote are cool? They’re bros? Did Marcel come visit in prison? What the actual fuck imagine if you made your show make sense!
Ooh psychopath Boaz with the sneak attack!
mano a mano still on that bullshit?
“Pote was a legend” dskljdffdds hahahahahahahahahaha
Honestly? Super disappointed it’s not T who gets to kill Boaz. A swing and a miss again. But what’s new about that?
How many minutes were wasted on this Boaz and Pote scene when we could’ve gotten REAL plot instead?
There’s no way Pote actually would have won that. This is so unrealistic. Don’t throw this at me in your finale if I’m supposed to take it seriously.
OBVIOUSLY she left you the waterfront, Marcel. How long have we all been talking about this?
This is Pote’s daughter then?
You kidding me? KOTE GETS A HAPPY ENDING? KILL ME. Oh fucking spare me with this swelling music.
Oh and now he’s happy he has a daughter. THIS IS SO STUPID. THIS IS AWFUL. After we listened to him grunt and make loud noises all season you want me to be happy for this guy?
Mmmhhmm yeah yep James went to the motel. Honestly, how predictable is this shit?
Let’s see Teresa’s pregnant belly in the next few minutes to make up for this Kote bullshit?? Please? I am begging you for something good.
“Of course, brother.” WHO WROTE THIS. THIS IS NOT JAMES VALDEZ. BURN THESE SCRIPTS.
So this is all the flashback we get to the plan? Wow a bad season ending badly. Please remain on the line while I bang my head repeatedly against the wall.
“You thought of everything” yeah would have been nice TO KNOW WHAT SHE WAS THINKING WHEN SHE DISCUSSED THESE THINGS WITH JAMES
Also…where did James shoot exactly? Because they make it seem like there was no race against time or anything? T was totally fine in the morgue? Why couldn’t they make their show make sense?
Sidenote: so Teresa’s coke usage is really never gonna be addressed, huh? Please remain on the line while I…go do something else violent. Gaping plot holes without explanation we could fall into and nothing, just nothing.
Oh NOW Pote wants be in the kitchen? UGGGHHHHH
Is now a bad time to point out James is wearing pink shorts?
A JERESA FOREHEAD KISS is that all we have to squeal over now?
Ok wait. So Teresa. Bad ass bitch (I say that affectionately). Queen pin. She just…gave up and got out? Took up cooking? As a hobby? That’s what she’s happy doing now? That’s how she saved herself? I have so many questions about how this is even remotely related to a show about a strong woman.
James was really dipping that bread enthusiastically. Finally he gets to eat. The biggest snacker didn’t get to eat all season. (I wish it was a steak)
“we’re so happy to have you back” I’m not. You both annoy the fuck out of me. There is no justice for me having to sit through every single Kote scene even once and Pote didn’t even die.
ONE SINGLE JERESA KISS
Yes, of course I’m glad it’s a happy Jeresa ending.
But ugh I hate this ending overall. I hate it so much.
J & T watch Kote with their daughter on the beach. Who cares? Honestly?
J & T finally have intertwined hands. It only took 5 seasons. Is this the only consolation here?
Guys. I’m sorry. I don’t think it was good. At all. That was just…underwhelming. Predictable. Poorly written. The beach was so cringe.
I suppose a throwaway ending is the appropriate ending for a throwaway season?

2019: Year in Review, I guess?
Or at least for the fan part of my life
All of the things that nobody asked, lol, but it’s kind of more for me to go back Dec 31, 2020 and be able like ‘Huh’
Top 3 Fics by Kudos
1. Ready Player One--it’s so funny that the fic I drunk wrote last January would be my most popular one from this past year.  While we were still relatively sober, I would grind out the establishing part of the scenes, with my partner in crime chipping in, and then as we got more drunk the two of us would try to come up with absurd options for the game.
2. Blood Inheritance--it was kind of a beast (I started writing last January and finished writing mid-June, and now it’s been 5+ months to edit & post like 2/3 of it) and parts of writing this were absolutely brutal, but with any big project I try to take some pride in the fact that I got the damn thing done
3. Cost of Valour--this was another beast that I put a lot of time into, kind of expecting that no one else would be interested in a Tortall AU for YOI, so it was nice to encounter the (super lovely) people out there who were also really into both of those fandoms.
And then my favourites for 2019...
Fics I wrote
1. the to be posted Ymir/Krista fic--it’s cute and fluffy and it it was just so much fun to write
2. Blood Inheritance--see above
3. Hearth--I just really loved writing about victuuri being bad ass fighters while still kind of soft and fluffy, and having a little family with Yurio
Shows
New
1. Dororo--this show broke my heart.  It’s gorgeous and painful and so damn good.
2. Demon Slayer--I was not expecting to love this as much as I did.  It kind of overwhelmed me with how good it was, and exceeded the hype.  It’s sad and funny and exciting, and the sort of thing that I wanted to rewatch the moment I’d finished the first season.
3. My Roommate is a Cat--I don’t know how, but this show made my cry.  When I try to explain to people at work why it was so good, I can hear how ridiculous I sound, but I don’t care.  This show is soft and cute, has so many feels, and the theme song has been on my main playlist for months.
New to Me
1. Anohana--oh god, this just...this just was so good and so sad.  But a good sad? And like a good painful?
2. March Comes in Like a Lion--so   his is gorgeous and comforting, but in a sort of somber way.  I had kind of a super shitty fall and this show was the thing that slowly made me feel a little more okay.
3. Food Wars--it is the pervy food school-days romp that I hadn’t realized I needed in my life until I watched it.  It’s funny, it’s OTT, and the characters are all just precious beans.
Non Anime Shows
1. Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020--oh god, this is the show that keeps on giving.  Like with just the first part it was amazing, and then the second...I watched Part 2 in like an afternoon the other day and jfc...how am I going to wait for Part 3???
2. Derry Girls--not sure if this came out this year or last, but I watched it this year (and we definitely got the second season on Netflix here this year).  This was so funny.  Like way funnier than I had anticipated, and made me nostalgic in a weird way for the sort of shit that used to go on during my undergrad days. It also has a great soundtrack and these serious moments that work so well.
3. Drag Race All Stars--s4 was so epic. SO EPIC. I am still crushed that Manilla went home the way she did.
Books
1. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson--the writing is gorgeous and sinister in this low-key, restrained way.  And the story/character is the sort of thing where I have a huge urge to write some sort of
2. A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahreh Mafi--beautiful writing and this voice that just kind of grabs you
3. With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo--so between this and The Poet X, Acevedo is officially on my automatically buy list whenever she next has a book out.  Her writing is SO DAMN GOOD, and she has this way of developing a voice that’s so wonderfully endearing and complicated, and viewing the world in these ways that skate between beautiful and painfully real
Manga
1. House of the Sun--it’s soft shoujo that has a kind of found family thing going on, and just really sort of explores the feelings of being left behind.  It’s sweet and cute, and unexpectedly funny in parts (though it kind of teeters on the edge of having the manga age gap issue, though it’s one where the context and how it develops make it feel like it might be okay)
2. Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun--I read this towards the start of the year and I still periodically try to explain certain funny bits from it.  Like, it’s the deadly combination of cute, dumb, and funny.  This is one of those series where I don’t really care how many volumes it take for it to wrap up, I kind of don’t want it to end.
3. World’s Greatest First Love--so...part of me feels like this is something that needs a lot of caveats before I explain why I like it.  It has some problematic elements to it (the usual that you would expect for BL), but it just has so many feels that it still kind of sweeps me along (especially for the the side story The Case of Shota Kisa).  Really, almost any manga that’s about writers/editors and I am there.
For this I feel like there need to be some honourable mentions because I read so much manga this year: My Hero Academia, Haikyu!!, Demon Slayer, Mars, Horimiya, The Way of the House Husband)
Looking forward to what 2020 brings
