(Hi Suz! Hope you had a lovely bday <33 thank you for hosting such a cool event!! So I decided to write a confession to my dear boy Jean hehe)

Dear Jean,

It’s been a while, I hope you’re alright.

You’ll have to excuse my awful handwriting. My hands are literally shaking as I write this. I’ve never said anything like this to anyone before, so please bear with me.

We’ve been friends for a while now, haven’t we? Still, though, it feels just like yesterday when we met at induction, all those years back when we were just kids wanting to get into the Military Police as an easy way to provide for our families. Just train hard for three years, then enter the Capital and live life in luxury. Simple enough, right? Of course, that didn’t end up happening - you joined the Scouts instead, but I panicked, took the coward’s way out and joined the Garrison. I admire you for that, doing what I could not, wanting to bring justice to those we lost that day in Trost. Wanting to do the right thing for humanity, refusing to let the tragedies of Trost break you. Maybe that’s where it started. Maybe I started to fall when I received the first letter from you - despite everything that was happening within the Scout Regiment, you still found time to think of me and to write. Truthfully, I’d been scared that you and the others would scorn me for my decision, but you seemed to get it. Even back then you always seemed to get me. You have an instinct for that, you know.

Crap, I’ve used up enough ink on all this rambling. I will just cut straight to the point: I love you, Jean. I’m in love with you. And I know this is terrible timing, since preparations for Shiganshina will begin soon, but when you were on the run from the Crown… I don’t think I have ever tasted fear as potently as I did then. So when the Commanders Erwin and Pyxis had me and Lt. Anka stay in correspondence with the messengers from Hange’s Squad, I would ask them for news on you first, every single time I met with them, and I think it was then that I truly came to the realisation that I loved you, and that you and your actions after Trost inspired me to step up and do something, even just a tiny bit, to bring about the change in the regime we desperately needed. Hell, I nearly told you right there and then when I saw you alive and well after the Queen’s coronation. Since then, I’ve been working up the courage to tell you.

So here it is.

I’m sure you are busy, since by the time this letter reaches you the intense training will resume. So I won’t expect a reply too soon, or one at all, but I can’t help but hope…

Is it weird to say I missed reading your letters? It is nice to see something we started back in our early days has survived, despite the circumstances.

One of the hardest choices I've had to make was to turn my back on my plans to join the MPs. It went against my goals, but you know how much that annoying jerk Eren gets on my nerves. But more importantly than turning my back on my goals...was losing you.

These days, as you know, there are not many I can trust. The many factions, the loyalties, one can never be too sure. But you Jay, I know I can trust you. Ever since we were kids, and even now. No matter your title, I know who you are. That's what I've always liked about you.

I won't make any promises about being able to survive the suicide plan that is Shiganshina, but I will say that the moment it's over, I will send word. No news is good news, so please, wait for my word.

Dammit, I wanted to tell you this after the mission, but I can't help it. You make me want to finish up the stupid mission so I can visit you. To tell you what I want to say in person. To tell you that I feel the same way.

Last movie I saw: it’s been forever since i watched a movie? i guess from memory it would be End of Evangelion

Last thing I googled: inefficient synonyms (i was writing a history essay and i am running on 4 hours of sleep)

Favorite musician: Crywolf and EDEN, easily - though i have a lot of fav musicians but these two are two that i’ve stuck with for a very long while alkdlajlweflkj - Jimi Hendrix is also very good... Hyakkei is a band i recently got into if you like post rock! it’s very nice
