Hi! Are you a podcast person? I've been trying to find good hockey podcasts for weeks now. Could you share your favourites?
here are some hockey podcasts I personally really like :) all of these can be found in spotify (bc that’s what I use to listen to podcasts)
NHL @TheRink is a big one. They bring on players to interview which makes it fun, but it’s also not the whole focus of the episode so you get a wide-range NHL cover. They also do fun little arguments about questions (who’s the best player, choose between these two teams, etc.) I personally loved their interview with Jack Campbell.
The Residency Podcast is a podcast dedicated to all Vegas sports but they interviewed Alex Tuch (ep. 74) and Robin Lehner (ep.75) and they talk a lot of the NHL as a whole, plus they talk about Flower too a little bit and I’m a big fan of him so👀
Locked on NHL is a great podcast if you’re really into like ESPN style analysis. But I always listen to their Friday episode podcasts each week because they cover everything from the week and upcoming games. It’s a great tool to keep up with the league. They do daily episodes so you get plenty of content.
The Athletic Hockey Show is fun. It’s similar as the above ones, analysis, news, etc. They recently did an episode that talked about “Hockey Moms” and this author interviewed certain player’s moms which I thought was pretty interesting.
If you’re a Women’s Hockey fan Laughter Permitted with Julie Foudy is my favorite sports podcast ever. She’s interviewed Angela Ruggerio, Kendall Coyne Schofield (literally such an incredible interview oh my lord), Hilary Knight (!!!!), and Meghan Dugann and Kendall Coyne Schofield together. All these interviews are incredible and if you love women’s sports in general I highly recommend this podcast. But all of these specific interviews give great in-depth understanding of the WHL and the hockey world in general.
that’s all i can think of for now, but I hope you enjoy these!!
Brother: Pulisic just has to shoot that. I know he's trying to set up Lukaku, but he's got to score that just for ESPN+ viewers.
Me: I just want to add that I’m royally pissed off that this wasn't on regular TV ESPN. Same with the women. Pulisic definitely would've scored, then.
Brother: ESPN: The plus in ESPN+ is Taylor Twellman.
Me: Oh god, now I feel slightly less bad about watching ITV with two guys who still don't know how to say ‘Azpilicueta.’
Brother: Well, you don't have the world's greatest player doing your commentary, so you are missing out.
Me: I don't know, I have Lee Dixon, who I appreciate more now, but is still talking about why he doesn't understand defenders not doing it his way.
Brother: At least he had a way. Taylor talks like he never made a mistake and he is incredulous that people mess up.
Women’s final, 39th minute:
Me: Is this Julie Foudy commenting? That's more like it, someone who actually has won stuff.
Brother: ESPN trying to give the plus effort today.
I'm really enjoying the players' perspective that we are getting this tournament. It's so refreshing to hear people talking about soccer who also love and understand the sport and know the team and how everything works. They actually talk about tactics and coaching.
