The Koch Brothers' decades long-game strategy to plummet America into under-funded chaos while they maximize their wealth has been remarkably successful.

Their father Fred Koch co-founded the John Birch Society. Charles Koch himself ran a John Birch Society bookstore in Wichita until he inherited his father's wealth. Their family's extremist philosophy has remained consistent for over sixty years.

Pat Robertson is Dead and I Feel Conflicted

In the late 1970s, Robertson was a founder of the John Birch Society funded movement to persuade Baptists (and Protestants in general) to vote Republican, along with fellow evangelists Oral Roberts and Jerry Falwell, lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and film-maker/fund-raiser Frank Schaeffer Junior. Originally named the Moral Majority, we now know it just as the Religious Right.

Schaeffer has come to repent of his work as (basically) the Koch Network's bagman in the late '70s, and has written an autobiographical expose of that movement and his role in it called Crazy for God. There's a chapter, near the end, where he shares what he remembers of his first impressions of Abramoff, Falwell, Roberts, and, yes Robertson -- and Robertson was the one he actually felt sorry for.

He said that every time he was in a room with Robertson, he was surrounded by staff who were straight-up taking advantage of the fact that (in Schaeffer's opinion) Robertson was an unmedicated schizophrenic. Over and over again, staff would come into the room from some other meeting, or get off the phone with somebody else (presumably a funder), walk up behind Robertson, and whisper something. A couple of minutes later, Robertson would tell people that he had just "heard a voice from God" telling him, word for word, what he hadn't consciously noticed an aide feeding him.

Schaeffer's opinion was that Robertson was a mentally ill person being abused by the sharpies around him, because they'd learned that they could get him to say anything with perfect sincerity because once the voices in his head repeated something, he would repeat it back as many times as necessary with absolute sincerity.

So it feels to me like today we're celebrating the death of an abused mentally ill man who was used as a tool, as a puppet, by people who basically got away with it. I want to say that he didn't do a lot of harm, that he was used as a disposable cut-out for the people who used him up and got away with it.

John Birch Society (JBS) and the Convention of States

I have been a COS supporter since this latest run was started. JBS has yet to convince me it's not the right thing to do.

JBS points out the moral decay and how socialism is the inevitable outcome. While I agree, I also look to the bible and how each time Israel (or Nineveh, for that matter) drifted too far away, they eventually turned back ... I believe we are at the beginning of that turn. The argument that we are in decay and, therefore, cannot handle the responsibility of proposing amendments is not a good one since morality is still very prevalent in our country; we are just at a point where the immoral make the noise.

The claim the COS will "draft a new constitution" is, IMHO, a scare tactic. Article V says that I may only provide amendments, not a rewrite. There are two paths to amendments: 2/3 of Congress or a Convention and 3/4 of the states legislatures approve OR 3/4 of the "Conventions" approve.

My complaint about the COS is that Article V is very vague on how this CONVENTION would look. Some say it would be the House and Senate, while others say it will be 1 person from each state. We already know that Congress is corrupt, and one person could easily be corrupted. That would be disastrous if evil crept evil corrupted 3/4 of the COS.

My interpretation would be that Amendments would be proposed in a NATIONAL Convention, and 3/4 of the state's legislatures (or state conventions) would need approval. This interpretation comes from the following statement: "or by Conventions in three fourths thereof." I believe the first mention ("call a Convention") is for proposing Amendments, and the second is plural for ratification. I believe this means that once the COS is finished, the states can ratify the proposed amendments through the legislature or a state convention. Because of this, I believe the COS is a safe alternative to amending the Constitution. *** Note: I am not a lawyer, but rather an engineer, so therefore I read the Constitution as a specification:-)

I have never heard about this before. They were the anti-Kaepernick of their time.

(The JBS was handing out flyers as WANTED FOR TREASON posters with President Kennedy picture, in Dallas Texas on November 22, 1963.) Not so incidentally, the JBS was co-founded and primarily funded by Fred Koch, the Koch Brother's daddy. Fact. This is a good read and a good reference for serious discussion among people that pay attention to what's going on in the world, for most of their lives. Those that don't, simply miss the chance to understand why it's all happening NOW and why we're (USA) constantly at War! War is Business. The business most important in every war since WWI is Oil. Once the Oil & Gas crime families (aka Koch Industries and others) are calculated into the war business, they are NEVER subtracted out. Oil & Gas crime families have provided energy to ALL opponents on ALL sides of ALL Wars since 1914. No matter who wins, Oil & Gas crime families make HUGE Profits! These days, those profits are approaching tens to hundreds of $Trillions of dollars, Globally.
