The Rescuers (1977) starring Bob Newhart, Eva Gabor

Giants third baseman Daryl Spencer loses his cap in a futile effort to score as Dodger catcher Roy Campanella tags him out at plate in second inning, April 26, 1953, at Ebbets Field. Bases were loaded and none out when pitcher Jim Hearn hit a fly ball to Dodger right fielder Carl "The Reading Rifle" Furillo, whose perfect throw to the plate was in time to catch rookie Spencer trying to score after the catch. Umpire is Frank Dascoli. The Dodgers won, 8-4.

For the WIP game, please tell me about your Gentlescribed fic!
Looks like this one had by far the most intriguing working title, since @shoegazy-pie also asked about it here! 😊 You can read the fic description there, and then come back here for a second snippet!
The fic is mostly Ed/Lucius (Lucius/Stede and proper Gentlescribed to come in future sequels, I plan it as a trilogy of short fics), but I thought you'd enjoy this little bit of Lucius and Izzy banter:
Lucius rolled his eyes as he swiveled to face the angry little gremlin man. “You know, you can call me Lucius. Pretty much the only people who call people they actually know by their last name are, like… jocks. Well, and military guys and cops, but that’s just cause that's who the jocks are imitating with their macho fucking bullshit. And, let’s be real, Jim’s occasional drag excursions aside, no one here qualifies as a jock. Well—” He pursed his lips thoughtfully. “The Swede runs a lot. But the track and fielders are always kinda different from, like, the normal jocks, don’t you think?”
“Whatever,” Izzy grumped.
Predictably. The man was basically a flesh and blood Oscar. He just needed a fucking trash can.
“Blackbeard has requested your services,” Izzy said, clearly forcing each word out through gritted teeth.
Lucius raised an eyebrow. “My services? As a friend? A notary? As a personal assistant? Or as a personal… something else?”
Izzy glared at him, clearly triggered at the mention of Lucius’ other revenue stream.
The SWERFy hypocrite. As if a drug dealer had any business putting up his nose at some cam work and a little light hooking.

KO , JIMIN ( n. ) is a dependent , single - muse character written for euphoriafms by joy! ( twenty - five , eastern , she / they ) .
[ choi yeonjun & he / him ] jimin ko is a twenty - one year old junior at monterey university . around campus , jimin is usually known for the lingering scent of store bought hair dye after one too many and cheers echoing from the stadium after scoring a winning goal . apparently , he has a sugar daddy that is responsible for the school’s biggest donations . i wonder if that’s true . if i had to choose a theme song for him it could be coffee by miguel . a quote from jimin would be ‘ i would rather eat my own foot than wear something from h&m . ’
full name : ko ji - min . nickname(s) : none , would cry if someone called him jim or minnie . origin : ji - min [ korean / my wisdom will be higher than the sky ] , ko [ korean / high ] . age : twenty - one . date of birth : january 1 , 2001 . place of birth : sydney , new south wales , australia . pronouns : he / him . sexual orientation : bisexual biromantic . language(s) : english , korean , and conversational japanese . occupation : architecture major and soccer mid - fielder at monterey university .
faceclaim : choi yeonjun . hair : naturally black , currently dyed pink , but oft kept either black . eyes : brown , extremely sharp and expressive . features : a strong jawline and full , roseate toned lips . height : five foot , eleven and a half inches / 182.5cm . build : athletic / ectomorph . tattoos / piercings : both standard lobes , both upper lobes , right helix , right tragus , and left rook / no tattoos .
mother : park ji - eun [ forty - six / retired principal ballerina & ballet mademoiselle ] . father : ko min - ho [ forty - nine / private practice dentist ] . siblings : ko seol - ji [ seventeen / high school senior ] . class : upper . children : none . vice : lust . virtue : justice . weather : summer , prefers the heat and dislikes being cold . genre : neo - soul . beverage : iced matcha latte with extra sweetener .
headcanons.
dumb , but also very smart . jimin has a habit of not taking things as seriously as he should sometimes , but he’s still smart ( otherwise he would not be an arch major ) . he became an arch major simply because of his mom’s work— theaters were always so beautifully crafted , and he always got backstage access thanks to her position .
he’s been playing soccer since he was little , and that’s how he ended up at monterey . jimin’s not on scholarship , but he was scouted and thus moved from sydney to attend . he’s a mid - fielder and his long legs are a great benefit .
full of sass , does not bode well to being told what to do . jimin marches to the beat of his own drum . one minute you’ll see him studying hard and then you’ll see him sleeping on a ledge somewhere . most don’t think he’s passing any of his classes , but he’s just got his head on straight when he needs it to .
jimin is a spoiled guy , since it was only himself and his younger sister , the two were constantly showered with love and whatever they wanted . he can be kind of clingy sometimes , but it’s literally because he likes attention and craves it often 😌 .
dyes his hair often , but only ever switches between black and another color . right now his hair is pink , and probably the only time he’s gotten it done professionally .
wanted connections.
honestly , i’d d*e for an ex that jimin really misses / really liked , but there’s a hint of tragedy in their story for literally any reason . i just love angst lol .
someone he flirts with a lot , but he doesn’t have feelings for them and vice versa . they just have fun trying to make each other red in the face . jimin probably kisses their cheek a lot just because he can .
i’d love something like a rival whether academically or on the soccer team ! perhaps they’re both really good at what they do , and for whatever reason the two continuously bump heads . there’s always little squabbles between them and sometimes jimin does things that will get under their skin for no reason .
a summer romance would be very cute i think . two kids who had a romance that fizzled as soon as the new semester started . the two were attached at the hip during the blistering summer months ( and maybe jimin even invited them to australia 👀 ) , but perhaps they knew from the start that they weren’t going to last .
and really i can’t think of anymore , but i’m happy to stick jimin wherever you may be needing a plot filled ! or , we could always brainstorm something !

Hispanic Athlete’s Pillars of the community
With out a doubt sports are an important part of the representation Latinx communities have all around the world. but the history of sports was the exact opposite. Many of these sports groups sought to uphold notions of whiteness by excluding black and Latinos from playing The Routledge reading states, “ It is only through the efforts of athletes such as Jim Thorpe, Jackie Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, among others, that barriers of entrance into sports are overcome. On the other hand, institutionalized and systemic racism, sexism, and classism are never completely eradicated with the advent of a singular, pathbreaking player.” (Routledge, 333) In this reading we see how black athletes paved the way in America for other people of color to represent their culture and compete against white individuals on a fair playing field.
Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker, a Puerto Rican professional baseball right fielder. He played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"Jim Fielder played bass with the Springfield for a while and he was in this group Blood, Sweat and Tears. Al Kooper had quit and they were thinking about me (as a replacement) for a time but it just never materialized and I was already on the way with David and Graham anyway so the timing was kind of bad. It would have been interesting, though." - Stephen Stills via Facebook

Jk’s not a comedian, but he definitely has an interest in comedy and approaches most of his roles with a comedic slant. He’s talked about how much he admires Nathan Fielder, and I think it’s obvious in his roles (spree 100%) and the little skits he did in college that that’s the kind of comedy he goes for. Like not the broad laughs but the cringy, uncomfortable, pretending not to be self-aware kind of satire comedy? And he’s really good at it too. Most of those kurt youtube shorts were completely improvised and he just nails that awful sweaty inarticulate desperation. There’s really not a lot of actors I can see do that AND play effortlessly charming in another role.
I think he’s kind of a goofball when it comes to comedy. Like he’s goofy. And he’s not afraid to be goofy and awkward and that’s what makes it funny. But when it comes to like body humor, like Jim Carrey… I don’t really see that and when it comes to over-the-top humor like Will Ferrell, I don’t really see that. I think it’s his own specific brand of comedy.
