Season 2 of Lincoln Lawyer (part 1) just dropped and I couldn't be more excited. So far I only managed to muster the time to see episode 1 and it did not disappoint.
That twist at the end!
This show is so worth it, give it a shot.

Connelly Squared
[3.5 stars]
There are few authors who manage to have more than one series running at a time in the entertainment-verse. After decades of producing mystery book series, Michael Connelly has both Bosch: Legacy and Lincoln Lawyer alive and well on streaming.
Bosch, of course, is a direct continuation of the previous series, but with a focus slightly shifted to his daughter, Madison Lintz, and the attorney, Mimi Rogers’ Honey Chandler. The three drive intersecting storylines that build on what we already know. And the addition of Stephen A. Chang and the potential set up for Denise G. Sanchez are solid.
Lincoln Lawyer stems from an entirely different series of books and focuses the stories primarily through the eyes of a defense attorney fighting the system rather than the eyes of law enforcement, which Bosch still tends to hold onto. The cast here is a bit less sure, but Bosch was initially as well.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Sweet Girl) is very different from Titus Welliver (Escape Plan 2: Hades), but then again Welliver has many seasons of the previous show to draw on to layer up his Bosch.  And Bosch is still the stronger show, but Garcia-Rulfo has only just begun setting out the foundation of his character and the new show. But both characters value justice over law in a way that is often both surprising and oddly encouraging. And the rest of the cast comes out of the gate with potential, including Neve Campbell (Skyscraper), Becki Newton, Angus Sampson (Nightflyers), Jazz Raycole. The primary case, cause there’s always more than one, is driven well and annoyingly by Christopher Gorham (One Night in Miami).
What is interesting, in a good or bad way depending on your way of thinking, is how similarly the shows are templated. Both shows are top lined by true believer men with checkered backgrounds, surrounded by women and odd characters that help them along. Each have abrasive cops who inhabit one side or the other of the gray zone between legal and illegal in the pursuit of justice. But it isn’t just the main casts that mirror one another, the over-arching mysteries in both are similar enough to get confusing if you watch them at the same time (as I did). They each are driven by an uber-rich character and those around them, while the indigent and less powerful are at risk of being trampled and forgotten.
To each show’s credit they aren’t exactly alike and don’t copy one another, but the range of characters and misdirects and side pressures are fun-house mirrors of one another. It is more a curiosity than a complaint or ding, but it was noticeable since they dropped at nearly the same time.
If you enjoyed the original Bosch run, it’s spin-off, even with the annoying Freevee ads, is worth your investment. And if you’re looking for more of the same kind of complex anti-hero and mystery plots, Lincoln Lawyer is also worth the time investment. Both shows have their next season teed up in the final moments (no surprise), though Bosch ticked me off more in its choices since its cliffhanger will have to wait a year before they pick it up again for season 2. Either way, enjoy the twists and turns of some very clever plotting and solid deliveries.

Notes:
I only did l,l,ladies, ladies because blackfemmecharacterdepency, so I don’t need nobody to point out the Black ones that are men and stuff.
Most of them cookies darker than the most popular current Black actresses, so fancasting would be a breeze.
Tumblr media
Lightskints of all ages could be the majority of these cookies and then there's also some darker ones that would need to be casted accordingly. The fanart be a lil' half baked. IDK what cookies some of y’all be looking at. Maybe my screen different.
Pictured: Sofia Wylie, Sofia Bryant, Zoe Kravitz, Aisha Wainwright, Amandla Sternberg, Ruth Negga,Tesss Thompson, Zazie Beetz
And there's a huge area for Black gingers to be included in the redhead choices as we have plenty of them too. They don’t get called into the conversation a lot whenever the folk start up with their whole The Blacks are stealing redhead representation thing, so I’d cast every Black ginger I could think of for the redhead cookies we got.

Now, I'm just showing off. Flaunting some of my Brown skinned girl faves, for your consideration. Extremely important information if you ask me.

Aight, so I already have been honest about not knowing these cookies’ lives that way, so IDEK what ages they are to accurately cast for them. Are they all kids? Are they all adults? Are some young and some old? Don’t know. What I do know is that I’m about to go into dark skinned actresses/models for the browner cookies.

Black people love naming they kids some kinda "Ash"(ley,leigh,ly...)
At any rate, if nothing else, I just put a bunch of FCs on a post, whether or not anybody here cares one bit about Cookie Run or whether or not any Cookie Run people care about this.
