Oh that thang? Is a crudely simplified mining excavator. I'm not sure why I give it such long treads, it certainly looks like a Talita, but it's about the size of a 3 story house.

It makes me feel a little insane to think about how cave paintings and stone carvings are the iceberg of paleolithic art. Those are the artworks we associate with their time period because they're the only thing that survived long enough for us to see. So much of human history has literally rotted away.

Inane worldbuilding minutia of the day: there is a viral dance craze in Runaway to the Stars "modern day" (approx. 2325), because what is society without a viral dance craze. It began on Martian social media and then spread to the rest of the human internet via the extranet social platform Megaforum.

It is called "The Whop."

It takes some skill to to whop quickly without losing your balance, and videos of skilled whoppers dancing in increasingly ridiculous and inconvenient locations have plagued the human internet for years now. It has a resurgence every time a new bubble of human space discovers and spreads it.

There is also a two-person version of The Whop:

Two-person whopping is extremely popular among children, much to the dismay of their elders. If you don't pay attention and keep time with the other party, it's extremely easy to slap them square in the face. Video compilations of people getting injured while whopping abound. School nurses have seen many victims of the viral dance, sent in with bruises and bloodied noses after whopping too hard.

If I remember correctly, centaur teeth grow and get worn down constantly; would this mean that the occupation of "dentist" doesn't really exist in centaur society, since their teeth are self-maintaining?

Just because a body part grows continuously and can be worn down through use, doesn't mean things can't go horribly terribly awry. If you're curious, look up rodents with overgrown incisors and birds with overgrown bills. Centaur dentists spend a lot of time trimming and sanding their patients' teeth back into functional shapes.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what do the different sophonts call their parents? Like a centaur or bug ferret equivalent of mom/dad/etc?

Many things in thousands of different languages. I will explode and die if I have to make that many conlangs so I'm going to talk about English terms. There's gender neutral endearment terms for parents in English, which often originate from tailed spacer communities, like "per," "parry," and "sasa/zaza/xaxa." These sometimes get transposed onto aliens when referring to their familial relationships, since most Anglophones in RttS refer to aliens as non-gendered, as it's considered polite form. With avians dun and bright tend to get slapped on as a prefix to specify relationships, like brightparent and dunparent. With centaurs most humans would probably just refer to the parents by their clan roles. I.e. matriarch and entourage sire. But humans tend to be quicker to gender centaurs since their sexes function similarly to ours, so automatically gendering matriarchs as feminine isn't uncommon.

#sometimes tailed spacers will refer to their sire as dad and birth parent as mom and if like #their dad gave birth to their sibling and their mom sired. that sibling would call the mom their dad and the dad their mom #tailers tend to play it fast and loose with gendered terminology #jaytext #runaway to the stars

Would GLaDOS and bip get along?

I think they would have a catastrophic clash of personality because Bip is a deeply socially needy person who knows this, but pretends not to care for the bit; and Glados is outwardly hostile to other people, but keeps pulling them back into her life because she can't admit to herself she likes having them around. I think Bip would find her immature and abusive, and she would find Bip's fixation on social life dumb and frivolous. Like they are both jokesters but if they interacted Bip would realize Glados is using her humor as a thin veil for her insecurity and superiority complex, become enraged, and immediately drop the bit.
