2023 Art Summary

I originally created my blog back in April, but I've decided to jump on the trend and share a compilation of some of my favorite works.

JANUARY

My first attempt at a digital painting style, featuring a character I don't believe I've introduced here before. A reimagining of the Tails Doll, with a Phantom Ruby twist: The Phantom Amalgamation (or Maggie, as my friends call them), made for Project Alacrity. I'll have to get around to redrawing them so they can have a proper introduction.

FEBUARY

Fanart for YouTube creator, Miharu the Fox. Whilst watching one of her streams, I asked what I should draw, with her co-host Marc suggesting that I should "Draw Spyro glitching into the abyss." Seeing that they were playing Spyro Enter the Dragonfly, it seemed only fitting. So I drew him shaking on top of a trapped baby dragon in ice.

MARCH

An attempt at a papercraft style using a tutorial by YouTube user, CariadsCoffee. The character pictured is Squirrelflight (or rather, Squirrelstar) from Warrior Cats, using my own design. Learning this method of drawing is what eventually led to me adopting the lineless style I use in many of my posts.

APRIL

Parody designs of Silver and Blaze, aptly dubbed Pothead and Lighter. They originate from a Sonic 06 parody comic for 4/20 that was written by my friend, @alzikeiswrong , and was illustrated in TuxPaint by me. Whether or not I decide to actually finish and post it is a mystery.

MAY

A post made as a gut reaction to discovering the amount of articulated parts the Jakks Pacific Tails Nine figure had. 70 points of articulation is ridiculous, but man is the figure amazing. I just wish he was to scale with the normal Tails figure.

JUNE

My second attempt at a digital painting, this time featuring Blaze the Cat. Manipulating the flames and how they interacted with Blaze and the background, was a fun challenge, as well as figuring out the textures and posing.

JULY

This is the point when I discovered my lineless style. Specifically the one I use when drawing my fursona, Sapph. Her design has developed a lot over the years, from being a Minecraft X Warrior Cats crossover OC, to slowly rounding out and becoming less Minecraft, gaining new design details in the process, to where she is now.

AUGUST

A drawing of multiple AU designs of Tails for Project Alacrity, socializing at some sort of get together. This was mainly a test to practice how to frame a drawing with multiple characters in it, as well as giving them each something to do. To show the differences between these various different versions of the same core character through their designs and how they interact with one another.

SEPTEMBER

One of the ask answers for my MommyClan cat's ask blog, @stepcousinclawspeaks . Stepcousinclaw was originally created for the fanclan in August, but this panel was one of my favorites. It shows his chaotic and often arsonistic side really well. I'll return to the blog soon for a big story update. Stay tuned!

OCTOBER

October brought with it the Sonic OC Showdown 2, which I had miraculously managed to get my Trace the Tasmanian to participate in. She passed the first round by a close call, but lost by a wide margin in the following. It was a good fight, with a good string of propaganda art coming from me and some of my supporters as a part of the campaign. Thank you all for supporting me while I was a part of it.

NOVEMBER

Whilst exploring through old files, I came across a template I saved. I used it to share the designs I made for various Warriors characters, some who I already had made designs for, and others I had to make up on the spot. One of my favorites was Spottedleaf. The balance of colors and details seem just right to me, as well as being a vast improvement from the color inaccurate one I had made as a ten year old.

DECEMBER

December's was fun. I haven't ever really had a "set style." Every time I try to revisit one specific design I always make something a bit off. Same can be said for this sketch style. I loved doing it. It felt the most accurate to how my art on paper feels as I draw it. Rough around the edges, but lifelike. Sadly I've had a hard time returning to it after dumping out all my thoughts around the 06 AU onto my screen. I've been working on it. There's more to see in the coming year, so I hope you'll stick with me to see how I can grow as a young artist!

VoicePlay Labs — personalized theme songs

VoicePlay has always been enthusiastic about interacting with their audience in many ways. The most obvious is bringing folks onstage during live shows to be serenaded or participate in "auditions". But for a while, they also offered an individual experience from a distance.

People could fill out a questionaire on the VoicePlay website, and receive a personalized theme song. The first two people who took them up on that offer even got videos in which the guys wore custom t-shirts bearing their names.

This one has more of a folk / doo-wop feel. It's just so cheerful and pleasant, and really feels like a 60s sitcom theme.

Clearly Alexandra was passionate about photography, but I like that the final lyric is a request for her to smile for herself.

Did i do my prayers correctly last night? Cause i’m having some head issues. I have to go back to that long psalm and read it again.

(interestingly enough, in all my years immersed in catholicism, i never ever called her Mary Mother of God. i called her the Virgin Mary, and my mother called her the BVM. So i think this was how it was being phrased to me, because I had a habit of repeating the words i would hear. )

Should i still meet with brandy at 10?

Maybe i’ll roll out my back, i seem to remember that did some good.

It’s 23 degrees!

It's my first time here on Simblr but since 2019 I've been on my sims Twitter sharing edits and renders I've been doing [UPDATE: currently, I've been here since April of last year]. In relation to SK8 The Infinity I want to clarify that in this blog characters are treated as in anime, when they're themselves are called by their real names and surnames and when they're “S” skaters by their “S” names (except for Reki and Miya for obvious reasons). Here you won't find me calling Kaoru, "Cherry/Cherry blossom" when he's not an S skater (unless it's part of the story/writing and it's in context because he's called that by someone else for whatever reason at the time). Also feel free to block me if you don't like or are uncomfortable with Shindo Ainosuke/ADAM for whatever personal reason you have, HERE YOU WON'T FIND HATRED TOWARDS HIM BUT YOU WILL FIND A LOT OF CONTENT OF HIM.

I don't mind other people's likes/loves, but I want you to know that I won't interact with things I don't like or make me feel uncomfortable (things I already have muted), so I have no problem with interacting with the likes we do share. 💞 As long as you don’t try to impose on me what I don’t like (since I never try to impose on anyone what I love/like). Although I also want to make it clear that I have no problem debating politely with people whose opinions are contrary as long as those opinions aren't make in an aggressive way. But I will never start this kind of debates as I mainly come here to have fun and analyze characters and dynamics of everything I love (including my OCs).

Our Original Characters are morally gray characters, aren't labeled as either "good" or "bad" characters, they're just humans/supernatural beings that make mistakes, either because of past they've had, how they've been raised, circumstances around them or their personal/mental situations to give a few examples. That is, they will only be "good" or "bad" for other characters around them, who will see them in one way or another depending on their points of view. Apart from English you can write me in 日本語, Español, Italiano, Català, Gallego, Euskara or any other language you want, as long as you keep in mind that in some of them I will use translator to understand you better and it may not translate well.

On the other hand when there are any trigger warnings (tw), even if I post it as sensitive content and the type of content, I'll add hashtag warnings. Although for now the only Trigger warning (tw) I have is [#tw: child abuse allegory]. And I always put at their own post on top the same picture very, very blurred with the trigger warning and the picture without blurry is usually placed below the cut line so you can avoid it at all costs if you don't want to see it.

I want to clarify that I don't make art that shows delicate material in a direct way, because personally I like more to portray that kind of material from the psyche or with subtlety, and in this way practice metaphors in pictures, since metaphors are something I have a hard time interpreting. That doesn't mean that I ever try to do something less subtle, but I will never try to do it in a way that I personally don't like.

The People are Talking, The People are Talking

“It’s interesting in the timeline; on march 24, psychic jakk told me he was in trouble, so i went over to his apartment, which was when he finally texted me back for the first time in months, saying things that were not in alignment with all the things psychic jakk had told me, which i talked about in the “p.j. 3/24 after i texted jakk” .

Well, two days later i was told that my niece stella had caused blond to have a miscarriage, who was a) supposedly pregnant since january and b) supposedly in jail for attacking jakk. I’m sure that’s the only reason i would have taken the chance in going to their apartment, thinking she wasn’t there.

This whole thing about “causing a miscarriage”...that had been something i had been told about by gina (aka the painting) for a long time. From what i remember, from the moment psychic jakk told me she was pregnant, they were also talking to me about how she must miscarry, because the plan was to sacrifice the baby Easter weekend.

I remember the moment that the miscarriage supposedly happened, the night before this tape. . My body got deeply sick, as if it was happening to me, the pendulum was flying with a force like i had never ever felt before, and i had to keep my feet cemented to the floor, as if holding the pendulum and not letting it fly out of my hands was of some vital importance, despite the physical experience i was having. It was a surreal experience, to put it lightly.

Afterwards my “niece” came to me. She told me she was drunk, and that “they” made her do it, and that that was what the spinning was...her pulling the baby out.

That fucked me up. I didn’t know that it was going to be her who would do this thing that i was being told needed to happen.

There’s some things to put out there about this tape.

I took “mothering” my niece very seriously. I did whatever i was told needed to be done for her. Stella and i were super close when she was on earth, yes, but being that i was the only relative of hers that could interact with spirits, i took my duties with her very seriously.

This definitely tapped into the part of me that never got to be a mother; there was a lot of transference at play. But also, that got played on a lot. It makes me uncomfortable to hear how gullible and all-in i was, but by that point, i had been isolated for months, which seems to have been part of the plan.

After this initial conversation, fake stella would tell me over and over that she was spending most of her time getting drunk with jakk.

That she was messed up from what she was forced to do. There was always a lot of things that she was bringing up about jakk. At one point it was told to me that she was trying to convince him to kill himself so he’d be on the other side with her and she’d have someone to play with.

You’ll see a reference to me saying that stella was christ in the beginning of time; what can i say? I was told that in early january (yes, it’s on a tape).

Someone was super creative with their story lines.

As i was getting ready to finish this up, the following songs played:

This last one got to me. At some point psychic jakk told me that he had some chip in him so he could always be tracked, which of course flipped me out. He actually told me what it was called, and i googled it, and it was something that is used in the military, sure enough. He also told me he had to wear a nanny-cam at all times, and that he had a tattoo over his heart that said “Property of Blond”, which completely freaked me out because I thought we were always on the brink of being together. Ultimately all these things ever did was make a mess of my nervous system and got me to a weight i was in high school. Will we die out of shock?”

You weren’t wrong. You had to do something..that ..you did something..to allow….you basically did something for the cause. You did something so that ..things could be moved forward, quicker.

And when we first talked about it happening, however long ago that was, it was never, never brought up that it would be you who did it.

It was never brought to my attention. That was never an idea. And if it had been presented to me that it would be *you* who would do the act, i would have said..i would have said absolutely not. And i think that you know that.

You knew that didn’t you? Did you know that?

Yeah.

And...when random had first talked to me about it...he had first said to me that i had done wrong and i don’t even remember who had presented to me to go do this spell, i don’t even remember who it was….i just remember being presented, “go do this”.........and going to the roof and doing it. And then going to God and being like….look, will this be cleared from my record pretty much but then having Random come to me and be like, hey this is not cool and asking god and being like ...god being like “ well it’s cancelled out by what you sacrificed with the baby and this wasn’t….she never was supposed to have this baby...and it will be taken care of.”

But you have always maintained a purity...and i know that something happened to you in the last 24 hours...28 hours, 30 hours, whatever you want to say... and...you lost ….you can also say that you lost part of your purity when you had your ______________________________ or what have you, but this is different in that something happened for you.

And you have to rest, and you have to let me be...your mom. And that means you have to eat, and you have to know when you’re tired, and you have to stop, and know that you’re 10 years old.

And you have to read your books.

And you can do your magic and you can do all of that stuff...but you have to not exhaust yourself.

Because if i see..that you are weakened...then it means you have to take a break. Like if i have to take a nap, that means you have to take a nap.

(pause)

Because the other way we’re gonna get anywhere...the only way that we’re gonna be the chariot is by..having boundaries, and by..doing excellent self-care. Jakk has been doing shitty self-care.

Shitty self-care. And you see where he was at.

I’ve been doing better self-care than jakk. Much better. As you can see. So that means you either ride on my shoulders, or let me carry you, you take naps, you eat food,....you take breaks. You listen to me. You listen to god. You don’t like stop...you don’t constantly look for trees. ( we spent hours upon hours doing this thing with trees...moreon that later.)

(pause)

You don’t like, give everything away. You feel the roots, feel the breath, hear the still small voice of the spirit, and everything will be as it should be. And know that i am not going anywhere, ever….because i am yours. And you are mine. Forever. You have my heart, you always had my heart from the moment i held you in my arms. From the moment i sang to you. You had my heart.

And you can’t be shy about saying what you need. You have to tell me. You have to ….i want you to tell me. And it’s ok if you make a mistake. Don’t be afraid of making a mistake. You know? I should have told them no jalapenos.

(this is a reference to when “we” were at calexico. What did we look like? Typically me at a barstool with her framed picture, the pendulum in my left hand, the stick and crystal, and a bunch of bags at my feet. For a while i carried 3 or 4 pictures with cheap plastic frames from the dollar store in my backpack. I think at one point i was carrying three bags on the regular.

You see in here references to telling stella to eat; well, this one time at calexico i ordered some baja fish tacos, and one black bean taco for us to share, thinking she would like them, since she had been vegetarian, and when i was almost done eating, she told me that she didn’t eat her part, that they were too spicy for her, which made me feel like a failure. Thus the line about jalapenos. )

We could probably make a business just of like people sending us a picture of their loved one who is sick, and bringing them to trees. We could probably start a business that way. We could probably make money that way. People see us doing it. They see us doing it. That’s how we could start our business. You could lead me to the trees that heal. We could take the pictures of the people who are sick..is that how it works? They could send me a picture of someone’s who sick, i take the picture to a tree,....this is how we can get started. And i can sing while the tree heals them.

We can just go ahead and get started. We could get a business license like….i could talk to naussica about it..next week. She would probably put up the money for a business license. And i bet aaron would put a website together for us. A simple one, until i can figure out the website that the tarot reader has in mind. And we could get business cards. And i could just start passing them out. We could get that going in the next three weeks. Maybe i don’t get the license yet, but i could get the website and the cards, and if people ask, that’s what i do.

That’s what we do.

Because we do it together.

...Tonight i care about the baby. The baby who was….sacrifice...i just want this to be over, and i want to go to sleep. And prepare for tomorrow, because tomorrow is the universe. I’m pretty sure. So, let’s go to bed.

(sounds of her in the bathroom, then we hear the toilet flush)

I felt that..i felt that…( starts breathing hard and laughing softly) awwwwww. I felt that.

(continues to be choked up)

It’s almost six months. (crying slightly, but mostly overwhelmed with emotion at feeling her)

It’s funny, i used to think that this place was….i don’t know. Wasn’t what i wanted but...now it’s perfect. You need to make a list of stuff to keep here for you...for…..like, food. “

Dragcon (Biadore) - Lemonade

Summary: She didn’t know how to interact with someone she had such a history with. Someone she still had feelings for. Someone she still planned on being with when it came down to it.

AN: Inspired by there being no (public) interaction between Adore and Bianca during Dragcon.

Adore bit her lip nervously as her eyes focused in on a familiar silhouette. All she could think about today was the fact that Bianca was in the same building as her. She came in with a plan to avoid Bianca at all costs. They hadn’t been talking the way they used to. Adore hadn’t seen Bianca in what felt like a year. She didn’t know much about Bianca’s life right now, and Bianca didn’t know much about hers. She was starting to feel like a stranger.

Adore missed her.

Bianca almost felt untouchable. She was surrounded by people. So many people that all the conversation going around created a loud buzz in the room. There seemed to be a light shining directly on her, making her the star of the crowd. Adore suddenly understood the anxiety fans faced in a meet and greet setting.

But Adore missed her.

It was awkward. So awkward. Adore knew she still loved Bianca. Bianca knew she still loved Adore. In the back of their minds they still held on to the idea of being together sometime in the distant future; When Bianca could slow down. When Adore could settle down. Right now wasn’t like that. Approaching your ex, who has a boyfriend that isn’t you, usually wasn’t a good idea.

But Adore missed her.

Her feet must have taken action while her head and heart went to battle. She was standing behind Bianca, so close their bodies were almost pressed together. A split second thought to turn around and run crossed Adore’s mind.

But I miss her.

Her slender finger shyly tapped Bianca’s shoulder. Usually she’d wrap herself around Bianca, or fling herself into Bianca’s arms if she wanted her attention. That didn’t feel appropriate anymore.

Bianca squeezed her eyes shut when she felt the light tap, assuming it was a fan who snuck backstage. Bianca loved her fans. She’d never be cruel to them, but God she needed a break. A professional smile painted her lips as she turned around. Her face melted into relief when she saw Adore instead.

Bianca smiled—genuinely smiled. She instinctively wrapped her arms around Adore’s waist to pull her in for a hug. Bianca’s hugs were the best. She held you so tightly, rubbed your back, rocked you back and forth a bit if she really loved you. She really loved Adore.

Adore was a bit shocked at how Bianca embraced her as if nothing had changed between the two of them.

Bianca only slightly pulled away from Adore. Her arms slid a little further down her waist. She kept Adore in her arms, but held her loosely.

“Hey,” Bianca beamed. Adore held her tears back. She missed Bianca’s voice so much. “How was today?” Bianca inquired about the chaos of Dragcon.

Adore composed herself. The whole situation leaving her in a foggy haze of emotions.

“It was good. Crowded. What about you? Miss a thousand people in her meet and greet line.”

“It was only nine hundred.”

Adore playfully scoffed, putting her hand over her chest. “Well, excuse me.” They laughed together.

Truth be told, Bianca thought seeing Adore today would be an awkward, angsty mess. She missed Adore so much, but didn’t (or at least she thought she didn’t) know how to talk to Adore anymore. Things between them had gotten so serious, and intense. She didn’t know how to interact with someone she had such a history with. Someone she still had feelings for. Someone she still planned on being with when it came down to it.

But they were doing an okay job so far.

“How’ve you been?” Bianca asked a question that had the power to ruin their little reunion. Adore sighed. Worry bubbled in Bianca’s padded chest.

The blonde shrugged in Bianca’s arms. “I’ve been worse.” The thing with Bianca and Adore was that no matter how strained their relationship was, or how long they hadn’t talked for, there was no need to sugarcoat or lie about the bad stuff. Adore knew that if she collapsed in Bianca’s arms right now Bianca would scoop her up and take care of her like she always did.

Bianca pushed a piece of Adore’s wig out of her face, tucking it behind her ear. Adore weakly smiled at the gesture. “Are you okay?” Bianca’s question made Adore feel like they were the only two in the room.

She nodded her head. “I am, I think. I’m trying. Love’s been kicking my ass lately, ya know?” Adore started to ramble. She felt so safe with Bianca, she never really censored herself with her. “I’ve been dumped like four times these past few months. Jakk basically cheated on me on national television; made me look so fucking stupid and I let him. Then the whole twitter bullshit—you saw it,” Adore recalled Bianca reaching out to make sure she was okay. Adore, against her inner pettiness, had to beg Bianca not to jump into it as well. “The guy I was seeing after Ex On The Peak fucking called me fat. Things didn’t really work out with Tyler either, and I really, really fucking miss you, B.”

Bianca gave Adore her undivided attention as she spoke. She offered touches of comfort as Adore went on. There was so much to unpack; too much to fit into this cramped room. Bianca had to address the last thing Adore had said, though. “I miss you too, honey. You know you can still talk to me, right?” A hand moved from Adore’s lower back to her cheek. “I’m still here for you. I’m still your friend.”

Deep down, Adore knew that; but she was sensitive and stubborn. “I feel like I can’t. Everything’s so weird, and you have a boyfriend. The last time you had a boyfriend we were completely different than we are now.”

“I know. Danny, I understand that, but I don’t want you to cut yourself from my life. You know I love you, and you know you can always reach out to me. He doesn’t change any of that. Nobody ever will.”

Goosebumps rose on Adore’s skin. This was a lot more intense than the awkward hi and bye she was expecting. Adore swallowed roughly as Bianca looked at her. Bianca noticed Adore’s eyes following someone who was somewhere behind Bianca’s back. Before Bianca could ask why Adore had gone so pale, two muscular arms wrapped around Bianca’s waist. A firm kiss was planted on Bianca’s neck.

Bianca watched as Adore fell from her embrace. “I’ll see ya around, B,” was muttered as Adore started to walk away. Bianca felt trapped in her boyfriend’s arms. Why was he holding her so tightly when she needed to get to Adore? She pecked his lips to appease him before going after her.

Bianca’s hand clasped around Adore’s wrist. Adore was slightly jerked back by the move, she turned around to see a look in Bianca’s eyes she’d never seen before.

“I want you to call me tonight, okay?”

Adore blinked a few times before nodding, “I will.”
