To celebrate JAHM, I wanted to share this graphic novel:
Tumblr media
If your response to Jewish conspiracy theories is, "That makes no damn sense," there is a reason why! Here's how it all started:
1. Maurice Joly committed suicide, leaving behind copies of a thinly veiled attack he wrote against Napoleon III.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. When two members of the court wanted to stir up anti-Semitism, they decided to forge a document "written by the elders of Israel" detailing their plot for domination.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Golovinski, the con-man they picked to write this document felt pressed for time, so he find/replaced key terms in Joly's text.
Tumblr media
This is just the beginning of how a COMPLETELY fabricated document shaped the way that generations viewed and responded to people of Jewish heritage.

HONORING JEWISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH!
by Danna Zeiger Dear Kidlit Community,Unfortunately, Writers’ Rumpus was not able to air this post earlier in the month for logistical reasons. For this, I would personally like to apologize to the Jewish Kidlit community, as I would have liked to have seen both AAPHI and JAHM honored together. There have been many community discussions highlighting the lack of JAHM recognition and awareness…

Soooo love how sanji is just so relentlessly a loser pretending to be so suave and cool
Like he named all his moves in french to seem cool. I speak french yet have been kinda confused about some of what he was saying bc the english dub actor does. Uhm not to criticize bc voice actors are incredible artists that never get the props they deserve but he does not...pronounce the french right. Like I can't speak for natives but it really is to the point where it is outside the threshold of being able to understand most of it as a non native who's way out of practice. If I am honest I have always strongly suspected this was intentional and may be the case in the original japanese dub as well, bc sanji is exactly the type of loser to pretend he speaks french but just absolutely doesn't. ANYWAYS
Crunchyroll has been being annoying abt it but I finally was able to get captions and was delighted to hear sanjis ~*big suuuper cool new move!!*~ at Fishman Island to show off after two whole years of training. Translates in english to "frying pan ghost"
Sanji. I love you sm

it’s aapi month, but it’s also jewish american history month and...
our culture, identity, and everything else is constantly white washed. White people justify in horrible ways that Jewish people are all white and only have ties to being white. Not to take away from AAPI month, as both months are very important, but we deserve to be listened to. So take time this month to look at some Jewish creators, who’s skin may or may not be white - but our culture and heritage is not. For millennia, our heritage and culture has been whitewashed, through forced assimilation (if we do not assimilate, it is death), to being isolated and shunned, massacred, and genocided, (even within the last 100 years).
So take some time this month to look at both AAPI creators, but also Jewish creators. Famous AAPI historical figures, but also famous Jewish figures. Remember we exist, and that even today people see us as secondary too.
And remember that AAPI is getting a ton of media attention, love and respect (which is deserves) but unfortunately, this month is shared. Thanks :)

May is not just AAPI.
No
May Is Also Known As
Are you Ready
Jewish American ✡ 🕍 🇮🇱 🕎 🔯 ✡ Heritage Month
That's Right, Apparently The Jews Have a Month too. Which i didn't know about. But I always thought the Heritage months were based on Race not Religion. But any who.
(JAHM) is an annual recognition and celebration of American Jews' achievements and contributions to the United States of America during the month of May.
In April 2006, President George W. Bush announced that May 2006 would be considered Jewish American Heritage Month. The announcement followed urging by the Jewish Museum of Florida and South Florida Jewish Community for a celebration of Jewish Americans and Jewish American Heritage.
The president wanted to proclaim a month that would recognize the more than 350-year history of Jewish contributions to America and the American culture. On February 14, 2006, Congress issued House Concurrent Resolution 315 which stated:
"Resolved ... that Congress urges the President to issue each year a proclamation calling on State and local governments and the people of the United States to observe an American Jewish History Month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities."
The Jewish American Heritage Month Coalition states that, "JAHM also enables the exploration of the meaning of religious pluralism, cultural diversity, and participation in American civic culture."
According to Library of Congress hosted website, JewishHeritageMonth.gov, May was chosen as the month of Jewish American Heritage Month because of the successful 350th Anniversary Celebration of Jews in America marking the Jewish arrival in New Amsterdam.
Well Besides The Fact that the  Ignoramus President Numero Uno known as George W. Freaking Bush made this a proclamation. Ugh it is a good thing it is a Reality. The JAHM not him lol 😆.  Anyway To All
My Fellow Jews/ Jewish ✡  Friends and trust me I don't have too many of them. But I know of 1 or 2 😉.  May This Month & Every Other Month Bring You All The Prosperities & Wisdom To Share With The World 🌎 & Educate those who want to learn the Wonders Of The Origins Of Jewish People ✡ & All Of Their Accomplishments Along The Way In History.
LE'CHAIM TO ALL
THIS IS JEWISH ✡🕍🇮🇱🕎🔯 AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH #JewishAmericanHeritageMonth #Jewish #Jews #TheJewishCommunity

JAHM Day 4 - May 4 / 3 Iyyar
Day 4: Jewish Philadelphia and the Revolutionary War
Previous posts in this series have talked at length about the Jewish community of New York, but it was not the only colonial-era cities to have a Jewish population. Although there are documented cases of Jews living and working what is now Pennsylvania as early as the 1650s, the earliest known Jewish resident of Philadelphia was a Jonas Aaron in 1703.
Small numbers of Jews migrated to Philadelphia from Europe, South America, and other English colonies in the decades that followed, with the first major communal purchase being for a burial ground in 1738. In 1745, the community organized a congregation, Mikveh Israel, and talks of building a synagogue began by 1761. Although the Jewish population of Philadelphia increased and fundraising continued through the 1760s and into the 1770s, no synagogue was built until the 1780s.
In 1776, with the outbreak of the American Revolution and the capture of New York by the British in September, Philadelphia experienced another increase in its population, including its Jewish population. The membership of Congregation Shearith Israel of New York, as well as some of the members of the Touro synagogue in Rhode Island. Although some members of the Jewish community in Philadelphia sided with the British (most notably David Franks), sources suggest that most supported the revolutionary cause. Jewish support for the American Revolution is well documented in Philadelphia, with activities ranging from signing nonimportation agreements, fought in combat (Major Solomon Col. Isaac Franks, Philip Moses, Russell and Benjamin Nones), and loaned money to the American cause (Haym Solomon, Aaron Levy), and provided logistical support.
Although many who had to come Philadelphia during the war returned to New York and elsewhere after, the Revolutionary War resulted in the permeant Jewish community there increasing from about 300 to about 500. Mikveh Israel was able to construct its first purpose-built synagogue building  in 1782 with a mikveh (ritual bath) and school.
Today, Philadelphia is the city with the 15th largest Jewish community in the world and the 8th largest in the United States, with a a Jewish population of approximately 214,600 and a variety of Jewish institutions.
