it’s break time.
break time and the perfect time for seonho to mess around with some of his hyungs and he just so happens to already have his eyes set on one of his hyungs. the teen had seen jaehyun standing in front of where their fans were seated seeming to be talking to them or something. it was the perfect chance. the teen started his approach, holding his finger to his mouth to signal to the fans not to let the older know what was happening. luckily none of the other idols around them were watching them as he was sure someone would ruin it.
a grin forms across his face and without a moment of hesitation he latches onto jaehyun in a tight back hug. “HI HYUNG!!!” calling out loudly to startle him, and then letting go as fast as he grabbed on so he could run away. he could hear de:code fans laughing and cheering behind him though he couldn’t really make out what they were cheering for. it could have been for seonho’s silly game and it could have been jaehyun chasing him--as he assumed he was about to be ATTACKED. time for defensive maneuvers.

it's the last day of the month, and it's already been three months since their debut. a bit wild to think about. considering how long the road had been up there, maybe three months is not too much. considering he's now an idol in the eyes of the public, any little bit of time feels like a lot to im. he's unsure why he hadn't tried one of these before. the idea of doing it by himself got him a bit nervous, but he also didn't want to bother his other members to do something together.
he has fans now, though, it seems. again, wild to think about. he's not the most active in social media, but he'd still like to keep in touch with them. he's seen other idols name their lives something unique and special so jihoon's certain he wants to do something like that too. it takes some brainstorming to finally decide on something, but soon he starts the first edition of "shion's roof."
the boy had adjusted the settings for the live to be audio-only. this means he could lay down on his bed without having to worry about how he looks and what those watching could see around him. it'd also help take away some of the nervousness of someone who hadn't done one of these before. "hello~" he greets the first few people to join him. it'd be awkward if no one showed up, but it brings a smile to his face when the number starts going up. "wow, it's everyone here? there's a lot of you already." jihoon keeps repeating 'hello's during the first minute so that everybody can get some time to settle in.
"welcome to shion's roof! it's the first edition... isn't it special?" his eyes try to keep up with the comments, but he guesses that fast reading is a skill he'll need to work on starting today. "you're all here with me! on our first day... this is... our first day?" he chuckles. he's seen people say that before. it's usually used for a couple's first day, so the boy can't help but feel a little awkward about it. "everyone! don't get any wrong ideas!"
💬: are you in a roof right now??
"eh?? i'm in my room right now. the roof is... is metaphorical. it's our roof." while jihoon tries to explain himself, his hands start to move, even if no one can see him. "i wanted to have a cool title. other idols do that too, right? i wanted to take everyone to somewhere sunny. our roof is filled with flowers, okay? flowers and other plants. and it's always sunny... unless we don't want it to be. rain can be nice sometimes too, right? the plants would like that. i personally prefer sunny days."
💬: who are your roommates?
"my roommates are sinjae hyung and reno hyung. i'm the room maknae." he chuckles. "de:code rooms are separated by age. there is the hyung room and the maknae room. everyone, i'm not the maknae, okay! our a.c is our youngest member. the ace..." he takes a short break. "i'm alone in my room right now. i don't know what the other ones are doing. i told them i was doing a v-live before starting."
💬: what did you do today?
"ah, you want tmi?" he asks back as if he's actually into popular trends and whatnot. "i practiced all day long! with the other members... i'm working hard! to become a better shion and make you proud."
💬: were you practicing for comeback?
jihoon laughs. "no! i was practicing for something else..." he lets it hang in the air for a bit. "i don't know if i can share, i'm sorry! some of the other members and i are preparing something. you'll see it soon! it's not that secretive. you'll know when it comes out!"
💬: when is the comeback?
"i don't know!" he answers honestly. "i wasn't practicing for the comeback. i was practicing for something else." jihoon feels bad lying, but he knows that some things need to be kept a secret. he's also unsure if whatever he's said so far is enough to conclude anything. the fans are quick to come up with their own assumptions, though.
💬: is this audio-only to hide a new hair color?
"wow... you guys are really smart!" jihoon gasps, actually impressed. never would he have thought about that from anyone else's live. he touches his hair gently before continuing. "but it isn't true! is that a common thing to do? do people hide their hair colors with audio v-lives? i never thought of that..." he pauses. "that's really smart, thank you! i'll remember that for when i need!" he chuckles sheepily.
💬: are you doing station? / solo debut? / when is the comeback?
"wow, everyone... it's nothing like that! let's talk about something else, okay?" jihoon turns around on his bed and lays down on his stomach. "it's the last day of the month today! did everyone achieve a lot? i think i learned a lot of things... i've been working hard... i really want to get better!" his eyes keep following the comments. "it's okay if it takes some time, everyone! you can't become a master in a few days. as long as you worked hard, i'm proud of you! let's all work hard, okay? i want you all to achieve your dreams!"
💬: i'm learning korean
"ah, really? your korean is really good!" jihoon puts the phone down to clap his hand a few times. "keep working hard, okay? next time, write me a letter on fancafe! and then next time, we can have a full conversation. face to face! i can't wait to meet everyone again. i want to get up on stage. it'll come soon, right? are you waiting for it too? all the other members are working hard, too. since before debut, we're all working hard."
💬: can you sing your english line from 'what time is it now?'
"sincerely... i don't speak english very well." he laughs wholeheartedly. "did i sound good? did i do well?" jihoon pauses, considers it, then proceeds to try speaking a few words in english. "hello... i'm fine, thank you and you?" he chuckles. "was that good? do i speak it well? please let me know..."
💬: do you have song recommendations?
"mm..." he stops to think about it. "a recent song that came out... 'god's menu' is really good, isn't it? the rap is really impressive... and of course, our sunbaes, luxe, released 'up & down'! did you listen to it well? it got really popular, right? please show it a lot of love, too! they're really talented sunbaes." jihoon stops a moment to think about it more. "and*roma’s meiqi sunbaenim danced to our song, right? i saw it. she's really good! i like 'pepe' too... since it's summertime, shouldn't you listen to 'very nice'? or 'me gustas tu'? those are popular songs too, right? 'very nice' makes me want to have ice cream."
💬: are you close with any sunbaes?
"i don't know the luxe members too well... cheri sunbaenim is really nice, though! luxe's leader! this was some time ago, but she gave me lunch once. it was really good! i don't know many other idols... ah, but i know junju! per_se's junju! he's younger than me but we went to the same school. he's a good kid! i think he's really funny." he chuckles. "he was... a good student." he laughs a bit too honestly. junju was, actually, not a very good student at all, but he had promised not to share that fact.
💬: what will you have for dinner?
"that's a good question! i'm not really sure... we have members who like to cook, but sometimes we just order. we're a lot of people." he can't help but laugh again. "do you have any recommendations? ah, pizza?" jihoon reads surprised. "that's not very healthy!"
💬: i can cook for you!
"will you, really? but how will i get the food?" he chuckles. "should we have a picnic on our roof? we can all just bring whatever we want to eat... even pizza..." jihoon sits up straight and checks the time. now that they had mentioned it, he was starting to feel hungry. "we can take photos of what we eat and post it online. should we use a hashtag?"

"ah, that's perfect, right? should we do that? i'll do it too! make sure to bring something yummy, okay? i want to see it!"
checking the time again, he nods. "should i check with the other members what we'll eat? this means the v-live will end... i promise i'll do this again, okay? ah, and with the camera on! should i turn it on right now just for a quick goodbye?"
after touching the screen a few too many times to make sure he was doing the right thing, the camera turns on for what will be the last minute of the live. "can you see me? can you see my hair?" he makes sure to point it out. "it's still brown, right?" the boy chuckles. "thank you for watching! let's meet on the roof again, okay? this was... our first day." he gives the camera his typical bright smile. "bye bye~!"

his dorm room has become a bit of a safety net, as minho tends to lock himself up in the time they're home, not able to stomach much else other than sleeping and...just lying there. as the weeks and days pass, his mood has become apparent, and he himself can't help but feel like a ticking timebomb some days. today is a similar one, so once he's tucked into his bed, curtain pulled to cover his bed with privacy, he doesn't feel quite as ready to explode.
though after lying in the room for a while, dozing in and out of sleep as his roommates go about, he hears a knock on the door. stiffening, he frowns, staring at the curtain covering his view of the door. he can't make out anything past the dark fabric, but he can hear the shuffling of either jihoon or jaehyun. minho doesn't move, barely even breathes as the door is answered. it's confirmed to be jaehyun answering when minho makes out his voice, but he resists the urge to flinch when he hears the muffled minho's not here right now.
he finally shifts when he hears the door shut, breathing out a soft sigh as he shoves his face further into the blanket that's wrapped around his head. he lays there for a silent moment, before he sniffles, tugging the blanket away from his mouth to call out softly. "...thanks, jaehyun-ah." his voice is hoarse, in the way it is when you haven't used it in a while. he falls silent, teeth worrying his lip. he moves to sit up, rustling and shuffling himself out of the blanket cuccoon he's created. he reaches out to move the curtain, hesitating for a moment. he swallows, breathes out harshly and pulls it open. peering out, he uses one hand to rub at his eye tiredly. "...ya didn't 'ave 'ta cover for me." he mumbles quietly, clearing his throat when his accent slips out more noticibly.

starter for @jaehyunrk
honestly, serim can’t say he’s ever found himself in a situation where this happened. he wasn’t even wearing decent enough clothes to be confused with one of the actual workers at the company. then again, he’s not surprised with this turn out either considering what he did say. normal people don’t just blurt out ‘wow, royal really lets anybody become an idol, huh?’ upon his interaction with shin-sin-something of de:code or whatever the guy’s name was.
“excuse you, but do i look like i’m an intern here? i’m serim.” as if his own name alone was enough to justify his actions. they weren’t but now serim’s turning on his full brat mode and he never backs down like this. his eyes are narrowed at the other as he attempts some sort of stare down in one of royal practice rooms.

their break lasted for almost a month. long enough to fall too far after the high that debut gave him, after all those feelings of excitement and the nerves, after weeks of promotions and packed schedules that had them fall into bed in the latest hours of the night only to get back up for the same routine a few hours later. ( suddenly there was nothing. ) it almost felt for baekhyun like he was drifting back into a low that he never fully got out from and it’s why he’s having trouble getting back into the right mindspace after they’re shown the song for their first comeback. when they’re dismissed with new lines to learn and something different to practice after a long while.
baekhyun studies them, practices, but he doesn’t quite feel them.
his vocal coach complains about the lack of emotion when he sings, tells him that it’s a surprise when it’s usually one of his strengths together and that he should pull himself together, it beats him down a little. has him press his cheek against the surface of the kitchen table while everyone is using the rest of their night in their own way; relaxing and unwinding. recharging. baekhyun’s gaze slips to jaehyun in the seat next to him, playing on his nintendo switch in full concentration.
the desire to talk to him is strong. to spill what’s been weighing down on his chest all evening but he’s not sure if he can. he’s the leader, he has to be strong. “what do you think about our new song, jaehyunnie?” he asks out of the blue, instead.

while washing the rice, he hummed a song he couldn’t get out of his head these days. it was perfect for the summer season and boosted his good mood. swaying a little to the rhythm, he imitated the dance moves, while carrying the tray of rice over to the rice cooker. as soon as he had put everything down safely, he jumped and turned on his own axis, stretching his hand away from him to point at jaehyun who had unexpectantly come into the kitchen. maybe to get himself something to drink.
smirking at the younger male, he picked up a bottle of cooking oil and used it as substitute microphone to serenade his member with an over the top pitched high note. with a snort, he put the bottle back down and looked over to jaehyun. “hey, too bad they didn’t performed during the summer festival, hm? i really love the retro style. would be awesome if we could go with such an concept some day. what do you think?”
kang joon proceeded to prepare the food for his members, knowing that they were probably waiting hungrily, while he was fooling around, singing.

hitting the hoops.

with all of the chaos stemming from the news of debut and then the uncertain thoughts and feelings that accompanied it, mingyu was in desperate need of a break. he needed to clear his mind to an extent, even if he was convinced it wouldn’t be possible to totally ignore the current situation. truthfully, he didn’t want to ignore it, either. he just wanted to calm down enough that his brain would allow him to think through things logically and in a more organized manner. that’s why he was so extremely grateful for jaehyun and this opportunity to shoot some hoops with a good friend and a potential future group member.
honestly, mingyu considered himself extremely lucky. the boys that he had the opportunity of being in a group with were some of the best ones he knew. it did excite him, even if it was also scary. he wasn’t sure if he was as prepared as everyone else... but again, that’s not what he wanted to focus on. if he wanted to do well at playing after having to go so long missing it, he was going to need to get his head in the game ( won would really love if he could have heard mingyu’s thoughts about that one... )
picking up the ball and dribbling it across the court, mingyu took a shot just for warm up and proudly watched as it fell through the net. a grin forming on his face, he retrieved the ball and tossed it to jaehyun so that he could give it a try. not wanting to do this in silence, he decided to attempt some passive conversation. “so... i don’t think i ever really asked how all of this is making you feel. are you nervous? because... i sure as hell am.”

AU - Time Travel
Where had it gone wrong? She’s made several trips back to their time together in school, making changes to the timeline, little things like making sure he sat next to her, making sure that they got trapped in the rain together while waiting for the bus, him being there when she had hurt her ankle and needed help walking home. She had always liked him, even back then. If she was able to be in the same shell as her former self and not a secondary watcher in the timeline, she would have been so excited about those moments she’d be spending with Jaehyun.
Every timeline, though, he just went along on his own, either oblivious or ignoring outright her younger self’s crush on him. He’s so kind, kind of goofy, just the kind of guy that she likes. She knows in the future, her actual timeline, 2019, they aren’t together, he had a girlfriend and they seemed very much in love. She wants what they have, but it’s not happening.
She tries again and again, even going as far as writing him a love letter from her younger self, slipping it into his locker. This is technically something that she shouldn’t do as her younger self would have zero way of knowing she did that, but she was growing desperate. It didn’t work. Even though he was kind about it, Jaehyun asked his friends if he knew who Kim Sejeong was, but no one did. After everything, he had no idea who she was.
She tries a new approach, trying to get Yeri, the girl he actually fell for, to think the worst of him. Spread lies and rumors to her through notes and text messages, but somehow, each and every time, the younger girl saw through it and they ended up together anyway.
It seemed as though maybe they were meant to be no matter what and Sejeong, for the first time her ego allowed her to, had to fully accept that she could be a loser, especially in love.

weekly idol recording
variety shows are something seonho has a great deal of interest in.
even back during the trainee days, he always wanted to be allowed to go on one--either as a guest or an mc because both sounded fun. he had always loved the idea of variety--the chaotic nature, the jokes, the puns, the chance to show a different side of himself. it’s why he has spent so much time working on his magic tricks. as he knew if they ever ended up on a variety show then he would need to show off a skill--rookies especially who have some cool special skill tend to get more screen time. and now he can say with confidence he would be able to show off a really cool set of magic tricks.
and now here they are in the waiting room of a variety show. one that he has watched a good number of episodes from, so he knows kind of what to expect. though he also knows that there isn’t much to expect from this one in general only because they seem to go off randomly a lot. it was keep him excited.
the teen bouncing in place as he tries to not get in any ones way but it’s so hard to contain himself. and it doesn’t take too long before seonho is latching onto jaehyun. the older male having appeared in the corner of his eye and thus became the focus of seonho’s energy. “hyung hyung hyung--” he starts in rapid fire. “this is going to be fun, right? do you think they’ll want us show off talents? or maybe we’ll do a bunch of games.”

“Everything is temporary, you know?” Joining Royal of course meant not only meeting familiar faces but making new acquaintances as well. Jaehyun was a nice guy; cheerful, kind, a bit on the soft side. As the two were leaving the Royal building and his gaze immediately went upwards to the star-less sky, Yuzu couldn’t help but notice that he seemed just a little less cheerful that day.
“I’m sure they’ll be back tomorrow,” she added after receiving no response, the guy turning his head to her with a questioning hum to show he didn’t understand what she was talking about. “The stars, I mean. Cloudy days are normal. In fact if there were no cloudy days we never had snow or the flowers and trees would dry out from all the sunlight,” the streamer explained, her own head tilting back to look at the foggy moon, blurred out behind more clouds. “But they’ll pass and the sun will be back.. along with the stars too.”
Directing a cheerful smile at him it was quite obvious she was talking about whatever was troubling him more so than the weather but the metaphor seemed to work. Wheels ticking Jaehyun smiled back at her and even if Yuzu was sure she had giving him quite the riddle to think about or wonder just how weird she actually was, she hoped that it would help him with whatever got him down.

why is it always you?
every single time she ran into jaehyun, this is what happened.
shiah always found herself slipping, falling, hurting herself, just doing something clumsy and embarrassing. it’s like he was a bad omen or something. his presence just poofed a whole bunch of banana peels into existence and shiah suffered. she was supposed to be a coordinated dancer, too, so this was just really bad for her image. jaehyun must have thought she was a joke at this point.
“h-hi jaehyun...” she whimpers out from her spot on the ground, currently face planted and not planning on moving any time soon. she groans in pain, hoping the world could just swallow her up and be done with it at this point. she rolls onto her back, sighing out with puffed up cheeks. “man, why is it always around you, huh? i always fall or do something stupid when we see each other. are you doing this to me on purpose?”

minho knows as idols now, they're going to have plenty of things to do. performances, practices-- schedule after schedule. sometimes it'll be normal, an expected sort-- and other times it'll be weird, different. the ways of being an idol are still lost to minho, still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of what exactly an idol does, but the best place to start is by asking questions.
when receiving news of the samsung channel schedule, minho was a little confused. the concept is explained, but it's not really something he's familiar with. he does a little research, and he gets it a bit more. but it's still-- silly. kinda funny. it's hard to picture, at least with him in it. he thinks the others might do well at it, but minho's a bit hesitant.
so instead, to quell his nerves, he brings it up the night before the recoding, twisting in his bed to peer at jaehyun. jihoon's out-- either showering or with the others in the living room, but it's just the two of them. minho bites down on his lower lip, debating before he clears his throat. "jaehyun-ah?" he asks, hair becoming askew the more he shifts his head on his pillow to look at theother. "'ave you ever watched after mom is asleep?" he asks out of curiousity. "i've never seen this sort o' thing before."
