vague attempt at sewing accountability - pinned purely for my own convenience
currently work in progress (as of like, the past month) aka things I really should be working on
toile de jouy birds blouse (hem, attach sleeves)
one of two different flower prints that need to become cute sundresses
(Arthur) Morgan selvedge jeans which I interrupted cause it got too hot and I had to make shorts (the jeans pattern is literally called Morgan and I'll be adding a deer antler detail as an Rdr2 reference so yeah those are my Arthur Morgan jeans)
tailored burgundy/black herringbone tweed blazer (sewing class project to be finished some time in uh, the next two years, now semi-on hold as I wait for next round of sewing classes)
things I’m about to start any moment now
linen pantsuit with pleated-front trousers
reddish trousers with lace details
turquoise blouse from that jacquard fabric with those pleated sleeves
Minor fixes and improvements
Redo cuffs on the turtle sweater cause those are a mess
Add back pockets to shorts
Pockets, maybe new neck band, maybe cuffs for cute flower sweatshirt
Red top: shorten straps, tops titch neckline
Add sleeves to x-wing dress
the ancient pile of WIP shame
dusty pink trench coat
blue dancing dress with internal corsety structure
1890s waistcoat
various underthings (I think there’s a corset somewhere in the mix there?)
black linen pirate shirt of that one bernadette banner video
art nouveau print kimono jacket
fabric bits and bobs
light blue bouclé fabric that I bought way too much of so it needs to be come like at least a dress AND a chanel jacket (or maybe a jumpsuit?)
at least two different flower prints that need to become cute sundresses (one now upgraded to WIP)
pink skirt with sort of indian-inspired embroidery to be turned into a dress with that dark green fabric and the other gold embroidered ribbon
red/grey wool to be made into that long sleeve dress from the Burda mag OR a matching fan skirt and waistcoat?
navy linen that might be enough for a pair of pants?
various some time in the future things
take pattern off of that one zara jacket, remake it in proper grey tweed
fan skirt?
some sort of regency-ish cutaway jacket type thing
like half the things on https://blacksnailpatterns.com/ especially those bicycle trousers and the 1890s coat with the only slightly puffed sleeves
also I guess I need a blouse to go with the 1890s vest?
turnable bomber jacket (use that polyester brocade I have? With different fabric for sleeves?)
kids clothes for L (still need to discuss details)
do that same cute sweatshirt from sewing class again in black&white with 3/4 sleeves and a sort of stand up collar
That 1930s dramatic top with cape
maybe cut off the top of that dotted dress that doesn't quite fit and turn it into a skirt?
black or grey pencil skirt
leather belt bag/fanny pack/satchel kinda thing?
cat print t-shirt put on hold for now
sailor's smock in dry oilskin (to be done for tall ship races 2024?)

PART 1: YOU
Luckily, your sleep that night had been free of nightmares, so you rose ready to plan for the ball later in the evening. You’d managed to do a little digging and make use of the connections you’d made over the years to get access to a blueprint of the palace. All day, you’d had it open on your holopuck, enlarging certain areas and squinting at some of the odd angles within the building.
Only a few of the rooms and spaces had labels attached, one of which being the grand ballroom. It was positioned in the right prong of an inverted “U” layout that the palace was designed in, all the way in the back. That could pose a challenge for a quick exit, but you doubted you’d need one. You didn’t expect things to go badly, and you wouldn’t let them. The ballroom’s size alone was daunting, but it wasn’t the most challenging building you’d had to study so far. You already had an advantage that you weren’t accustomed to: you had an invitation inside.
As dusk fell and the sky turned from navy to shades of purple blended with orange, you finally put away the holopuck and got up from where you sat on the floor near your rack. The dress you’d bought yesterday hung on one of the three metal hangers you owned; the hanger’s hook stuck haphazardly in a slit in the metal wall near your dresser. You gingerly touched the fabric of the skirt, admiring how delicate the black jacquard pattern was and how the dress would perfectly accentuate your figure.
You hummed as you began to strip out of your clothes, tossing them on your rack to fold later. You dug out your trusty pair of heels from a box on a shelf, putting them on first. You then slipped on a thigh harness with a leather holster for your trusty vibroblade; you needed at least one weapon tonight, even though you weren’t going for the kill just yet. Your main concern was getting into the dress and tying the corset; it posed a challenge you hadn’t yet faced. That was the only benefit of working with a partner—they were there to help when you really, truly needed it. Other than that, they just hindered you and left you with nothing but pain.
After considering multiple different ways to put the dress on, you decided to loosen the corset as much as possible and slip it over your head. Although you had to wiggle and squirm—and curse when you got stuck or twisted—the dress eventually slipped down and fell into place with little adjustment. The dress felt heavy on your body, the skirt making up the bulk of the weight with its petticoats and structure.
As for the corset, you decided to suck up your pride and go ask the woman in charge of the hangar for help. You exited your ship, the sky now black and full of stars. There was a light on in the little building, and you approached her door, ready to knock.
Before you could rap your fist on the door, she opened it, an eyebrow raised. “You’re going to the ball, I suppose?”
“Yes,” you said, clearing your throat. “I…I was wondering if you could…If you could help me.”
You stuttered, your cheeks heating up in embarrassment. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d asked for help, especially from a stranger. Instead of chastising you, she stepped aside, gesturing you to come inside.
Her home was modestly decorated, and you found it oddly comforting. You hadn’t been in a home for so long—just shady inn rooms, abandoned buildings, and the metal walls of your ship. She had you stand near a two-person dining table, and she yanked on the strings of your corset, causing you to let out a quiet wheeze.
“We haven’t had an outsider here in a long time,” she said, pulling the strings taut one more time before tying them.
You turned around to face her, taking a few breaths to adjust to the new constriction around your torso from the corset. “I’m just visiting for a little bit. Needed to get away from home.”
She looked you up and down with her brown eyes, her tan face weathered with age but wise all the same. “I figured as much. Osha is as secluded as you can get.”
Osha. You’d been so out of it after your nightmare that you’d completely forgotten the name of the moon you’d flown to. You kicked yourself for being so uncharacteristically absent-minded, but at least you knew now.
“It’s perfect.” You nodded at her, smoothing out your skirt. “Thank you for your help.”
“I don’t think you’re done yet,” she said, reaching to touch your hair, which had gone neglected since you’d woken up.
It hadn’t taken her long to style your hair into a flattering updo that worked with its texture and length. Her hands were deft and skilled, and you wondered if she had any family, anyone to practice her skills on. She guided you to the fresher, and you looked in the mirror and smiled, feeling even more confident about your hunt now that you looked the part.
“I can’t thank you enough,” you said, making your way to the door, opening it and showing yourself out.
She offered a smile. “Have a good time tonight. I hear the prince is easy on the eyes.”
You chuckled, ascending the ramp back into your ship. “I hope you’re right,” you yelled, closing the ramp behind you.
The old woman had done an incredible job, and now all you had to do was add the final touches to your look before making your way to the palace. The necklace the vendor had gifted you was still in its bag on your dresser, and you took it out, admiring how the red jewels sparkled. You walked over to the fresher and put it on in the mirror, adjusting it so the center jewels sat right in the center of your collarbones, appearing to drip down and draw the eye to your cleavage. They looked like delicate drops of blood, a secret symbol of your true nature underneath the formal façade.
You were confident in your ability to execute your plan tonight, especially looking as deadly as you did.
PART 2: DIN
Night had fallen faster than Din had anticipated, so he picked out weapons from his armory and left his ship, already planning how he was going to sneak into a palace crawling with guards and Pykes. He knew there had to be some blind spot—since commoners were being allowed into the palace, he assumed that there would be a higher concentration of guards at the gates and on the sides. The shape of the palace was a challenge, but it wasn’t something he couldn’t overcome. He knew the high concentration of guards at the front of the palace left its interior gardens vulnerable, and he decided to exploit that.
Din noticed that the palace had three stories, and he focused on the right prong; he knew the ballroom was in the back of it, as he could see inside of the windows that stretched two floors from his hiding spot in the bushes just 10 meters away. He had to find a way inside without alerting too many guards to his presence and hinder his plan. He noticed the third floor balcony overlooking the garden was located almost directly above the ballroom, a little further inside the prong, but still close enough to make his hunt easier.
Just as he had predicted, he picked up only four heat signatures in his helmet’s thermal mode—nothing he couldn’t handle. There was no way Din could make it to that balcony without using his jet pack, so he had to act fast before anyone could sound an alarm. He flew up to the marble balcony, his twin vibroblades drawn and his hands ready to slice. Before the guards could even register what was happening, Din slit each of their throats with his vibroblade. He was impressed with himself—he was making good time so far.
He entered the palace and stood behind a pillar. To make sure he could move along, he switched back to thermal mode, enhancing the distance. Luckily, his prediction was continuing to prove to be correct—there was only one lone guard by a staircase about 5 meters down the long hall, and he seemed incredibly distracted. Din managed to slip and sneak behind pillars until he was able to silently kill the guard, moving his body to rest against a nearby pillar.
He descended the staircase and found that it took him directly to the first floor without offering a way to exit at the second floor. It wasn’t expected, but it was a nice surprise. The ballroom seemed to be close by; so far, this hunt was not nearly as hard as he thought it was going to be. It was disappointing, Din thought as he slipped into the palace, ducking behind marble columns and dodging guards. He had been hoping for a little more excitement.
When he reached the ballroom, he managed to slip in with the crowd. Everyone was dressed extravagantly, talking loudly and bubbling with excitement. This wasn’t his usual method of entry, but for the situation, it worked quite well. There was already a band playing a lively song, and people were waltzing in the center of the massive ballroom. Of course, this palace was ornate—it was a stop on the Pykes’ spice route.
He was leaning against a marble pillar, watching, and waiting through introductions of nobles, perking up when the bounty was announced. The prince stopped in the middle of the ballroom and shouted something about finding a partner to dance with, and Din shook his head. He’d go for the target later that evening. For now, Din would let the prince enjoy his last moments of freedom.
That was, until Din saw the woman the prince had chosen.

Build Up, Ep 5: The First 3x3 Death Match Performance
Tumblr media
Welcome back to your favorite recap series that you’re currently looking at: My Build Up Recaps! In the previous one, we covered all the setup for the next round of performances, the 3x3 Death Match. In this one, we’ll finish off episode 5. We’ll check in with the judges and see a performance. Let’s go!
(By the way, I am not going to spoil who is in any of the performances above the read more link, post elimination, so that if you’re behind on the show, my page will always be safe to visit.)
It’s performance day --  time for some banter between the judges.
Alas, Seungkwan from Seventeen won't be here today since he was a one day judge. I’ll miss him, and I’ll miss Team Pledis.
Both the female judges are dressed to the nines. Solar looks especially gorgeous in a black dress with gathered spaghetti straps and perfectly wavy hair, kind of a Veronica Lake look.
Tumblr media
Wendy has gotten extensions since we saw her last, and she looks beautiful in an off the shoulder ruffly white dress.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the male judges showed up in whatever they found on the chair next to their beds.
Tumblr media
What is Baekho wearing?? Does it say Fart? It can’t say Fart. What does it say and why does it say Fart? What is happening? He still looks hot, though.
The guest judge arrives, and it's Lim Seulong of 2am.
Tumblr media
I admit, I'm not really a fan of 2am -- not to say I dislike them, just that I don't know them. Originally they were part of a group called One Day, which split into two halves, 2am and 2pm. You may know of 2pm as the original performers of “My House” of Boys Planet fame. Unlike their poppy, dancey brother group, 2am is a vocal group that mostly sings ballads.
Seulong says that he's been watching the show and knows how talented the guys are. He seems especially impressed that they can dance and rap as well as sing. VCG says, “well you can dance too,” and Seulong reminds him that 2am is a ballad group. But the MNET editors have dug up some past footage of Seolong in a real 2nd generation looking outfit, dancing uncomfortably. The judges laugh together about how bad balladeers can be at dancing, which reminds them that apparently recently VCG was seen somewhere dancing to Baggy Jeans by NCT. “I think you dance the most of anyone here,” teases Baekho, and everyone laughs.
Dahee comes out and introduces herself, and everyone claps and cheers for her. Backstage, some of the guys -- led by Woong -- do a cheer for her.
Tumblr media
You guys, I don’t know WHAT Dahee is wearing. I mean, I’m here for it, I’m here for whatever she does. But it appears to be a thin, long sleeved white shirt under a pink spaghetti strap corset dress with large external pockets, made out of textured fabric or jacquard. Or maybe it’s not a dress? Maybe it’s a top and a skirt combo? What are those long white things hanging down? Is she wearing only one earring? What is happening? Still here for it though.
Everyone applauds the guest judge Seulong, and then Dahee reminds us all that this is the Triple Death Match, in case we haven’t been having nightmares about it for weeks. Dahee says, “The judges will watch both teams perform and then pick the team of three that is well built. All winners will survive and all losers will be disqualified.” This seems to be news to Solar, who gasps and says, “Ohmo!”
Allow me to theorize here: Though Dahee doesn’t say anything about this,  I think the judges will save one person from the 15 losing contestants. Otherwise, they’ll have 15 remaining guys, and then what? Have them perform as 5 groups of three, or 3 groups of five? Doesn’t make sense. But if the judges save one person, then they’d have 16, which is is four groups of four, and I think that’s ideal. So, I’m holding on to that idea for now. I guess we’ll find out.
The judges talk about how high the stakes are, and that they’re looking for harmony among the teams. That gives them all an excuse to flatter/tease Solar about how amazing Mamamoo’s harmony is. “They even greet in harmony,” Baekho exclaims, and Solar is obviously pretty flattered. It’s cute.
Tumblr media
Mama, mama, moooooo…
Dahee asks the judges what they’ll be looking for.  Eunkwang says that, unlike the first two rounds when he evaluated everyone separately, this time he’s going to judge the team as a combined whole.
Jay, Wumuti, and Hayoon, backstage, bring their fingers together to symbolize their union.
Tumblr media
Based on how they’re dressed, I wonder if they’re going to sing Blooming Day by Exo-CBX.
Guest judge Seulong talks about how important it is for a team to really get along and sing as one entity on stage, because whenever 2am had fights with one another, it led to poor performances. This does seem to match up with what we frequently see on Produce/Planet style shows -- the team that gets along better often wins. Jaehwan adds,  “So, you guys listening in the green room, if you’re not getting along, make your amends before you come to the stage.”
Backstage, Wumuti turns to Jay and says, “We’ll just have to hide it well.”
Ok, I know I said the guys got dressed in whatever they found on the chair by their bed, but I take it back: Jaehwan has been raiding Park Jihoo’s closet and stealing the ugly clothes he wore for the Nitro comeback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will never stop being angry about the clothing in this video. I’ll be recapping Boys Planet season 53 and still complaining about this.
Why is he wearing a leather vest and a bolo tie? I guess a better question is, what else did you expect from Jaehwan but utter chaos?
Dahee says the death match starts… NOW! Everyone is nervous, including me! Including you!!!
The first teams up are Jeup’s team and Bain’s team. Oh no! This is the match up I’m most sad about.
Jeup’s team comes out looking great in suits and ties.
Tumblr media
Jeup has a dapper three piece pinstriped suit on that looks great, and Seunghun has altered the shade of his hair a smidge, I think -- it looks much nicer. Choi Suhwan has decided for some reason not to wear a tie, and I wish he had, but they still look great overall. My guess of their song, based on their outfit, is Hey Mama by EXO-CBX. That would be a great choice, too, btw.
Bain’s team comes out looking… I don’t know, like motorcycle cowboys.
Tumblr media
Bitsaeon has on a shiny leather suit with I think no shirt underneath, just a red tie. Bain’s hair is darker, which suits him better, and he has shiny pants and a short sleeved blazer with a wide lapelled white shirt and a bolo tie. Why? Why this? And Minseo is wearing shiny leather pants, a shiny leather vest, and a big cross necklace over his white shirt. Maybe they’re doing Unforgiven by Le Sserafim? Or Cowboy by f(x)? I mean obviously it’s not Cowboy by f(x). But imagine if it was. I can’t think of any other Kpop song with a slightly “country” edge besides Bad News by Kiss of Life, which they wouldn’t be doing. So my official guess is Unforgiven.
Sunyoul is like, “this feels like the semi-finals!”
Everyone has these huge reactions to the match up, which is silly since they’ve known who would be matched up since their encounter with the Moodboard of Doom.
We head into flashback most. First, we're reminded of how well everyone did in the previous mission. Referring to the stacked matchup, Wumuti says, “We made this happen. I feel bad.” And then we get a flashback to the whole Moodboard of Doom moment, which was like, five minutes ago in this same episode. Yeah, we didn't have time to watch Lee Hwanhee sing but we did have time to watch clips of stuff we already saw, and time to watch Wumuti move things around on the Moodboard *twice*.
Anyway, we get it, it was smart of Jay’s team to make sure that for sure one of those two teams would be eliminated. But I'm still sad about losing either of these teams.
Neither team is happy about the match up, but they both promise to do their best, and nod at each other respectfully.
Jeup is already nervous, because he knows how important song choice is going to be here. Strong agree!
We get a flashback-within-a-flashback montage of Jeup’s experience so far. He was praised by judges, but not chosen as top tier. He got a standing ovation, but his team came in fifth. He’s disappointed at not doing even better than he has been. “Now I need to show something else,” he interviews, as his cheekbones shine in the stage lights cheerfully. “If not I might get eliminated.”
Tumblr media
He, his cheekbones, and his s w e a t e r all are extremely stressed out, but he’s thinking clearly enough to suggest a song that might work: Prayer (I’ll be Your Man) by BtoB. You might remember the song from when Stray Kids covered it on Kingdom (they swapped songs with BtoB).
Anyway, Jeup explains that it’s a risky decision to tackle Eunkwang’s song, but “in order to win, I wanted to pick one of the judges and do a face-to-face match.” I get it -- you can’t play it safe here because there is no safe. It’s win or go home. So a “nice” performance won’t do; you’ve got to shoot for the moon. I’m not a huge fan of the song -- it’s a “I’ll never let you go” kind of dealie that actually kind of sounds like IPV to me but like, I get it, it’s “romantic” because it’s in the form of a song. I’ll let you read the lyrics and decide for yourself.
Tumblr media
Oh, Seunghun is wearing a s w e a t e r too! Nice. Suhwan, you’re dead to me. Dead! Imagine. A sweatshirt. ::grumbles::
They’re meeting in… a basement? A carpeted basement with wheely office chairs, but no table…? I feel like I’ve seen this room in my dreams. My boring, boring dreams. No, but seriously, we can tell in another scene that they’re at Suhwan’s agency, Lynna. The editors blur the name out but it’s still perfectly visible. The editors also sporadically blur out a logo on Jeup’s hat, and it makes me feel like I’m having a stroke.
Anyway, the guys are worried about the high-speed rap section, and with good reason -- it doesn’t sound like you can leave it out of the song, and also it sounds like it would be challenging to do, partly just because it’s so fast, and partly because a lot of it is straight up in English. (Peniel, one of their members, is American and mostly just rapped in English for his entire tenure with BtoB.)
They pretend to debate who is going to rap, even though it’s clear they already know and are just recreating this discussion for the cameras. Jeup says that his own rapping is bad -- they’d kick him off the stage. Seunghun says, as if it has just occurred to him, “Shall I try it?” He says he used to listen to the song a lot and sing along, so he already knows it, and he can practice a lot. They try it through once, and he struggles a bit, but promises to get better.
Tumblr media
Wow, Seunghun looks great. He must be glad he got his braces off.
Seunghun vows to work really hard, because he wants to pull his weight in the team while the other two hit those high notes. We see a montage of him practicing, and he is really getting into it, to the point that he’s wearing beanies down over his eyes.
Tumblr media
This is what a rapper looks like!
We also see him working with his CIX teammates to help improve his rapping. And it really works!
Tumblr media
Jeup is wearing glasses and I thought you might like to see.
Jeup is leading the team in this endeavor, and his team is working hard. I wish they weren’t going up against my other favorite team. Sigh.
We cut back to the performance stage. Eunkwang says he isn’t really on board with them doing the song, because he feels like it’s a bit boring without dancing.  (Here’s a live performance of BtoB doing the song, if you’re curious how it looked on stage.) The judges all seem to want them to do well.
Tumblr media
Solar gets into the praying spirit.
The performance begins.
Full version without reactions
Tumblr media
My thoughts:
They did a really good job. This isn’t a song I particularly like -- I’ve never been a fan of this kind of super-serious-rapping-over-a-ballad thing that you sometimes get in kpop (and western pop). It’s just not my thing. But I can still tell that they did really good job.
Seunghun has really mastered the art of the soft, gruff intro notes. I don’t really speak Korean, but I trust everyone else who says his pronunciation in the rap was good, and it sounded good in terms of tone and rhythm to my untutored ears.  He strained a bit on the high notes, though, making faces that shows how hard he’s working to hit those notes, and his vocal color isn’t quite as pretty as the others. When Jeup harmonized first with him and then with Suhwan, the transition was stark -- it sounded much nicer with Suhwan. That said, he did a good job, a better job than I would have guessed. I believe that rapping is a subset of vocal skills, and that if you can rap well, you have half the skills of a good vocalist (at least), so good for Seunghun for getting this mastered.
Tumblr media
Suhwan was sort of the all-round guy in this performance, doing main vocals, harmonies, and a fair bit of rapping. He is so good at harmonies, I really have to give him props for that. There’s a moment when Jeup had the lead and it almost sounded like there was some sort of playback of harmonies, but no, it was just Suhwan singing more softly and sounding like a full on backup track. That isn’t easy to do. There were one or two slightly pitchy notes, but they wouldn’t have been noticeable to a casual listener, I don’t think. He also is obviously straining a tiny bit on high notes -- he hits them well, without closing his throat or anything, but I still feel like he’s hurting his voice when he hits them. That’s a minor quibble. Overall, excellent job.
Jeup’s was the MVP here. As charming as I find his shoulders, I do sometimes not *love* his vocal color, but here it just works. He can match his tone to whoever is harmonizing, and true to his brand of Cheekbones N’ Chest Voice, he hits high notes without bothering with falsetto. He just is a vocal powerhouse. I don’t like this song much, but I think this was his best performance so far on the show.
If this three became a vocal trio, and sang songs I *liked*, I’d certainly enjoy listening to them.
The staging was good here, too. The suits worked, the dry ice fog worked, the background images of lightening and whatnot worked, it was all good.
Tumblr media
In the MNET edit, they go to a commercial right before the guys perform, so the editors obviously believed that this is compelling.
When the guys start singing, the judges have faces that are tough to read.
Tumblr media
Eunkwang is definitely affected by this performance. Is he enjoying it? Not sure yet.
Wendy is so engrossed she forgets to make a pretty face.
Tumblr media
I mean she’s still pretty but you know what I mean.
I think Solar is engrossed?
Tumblr media
After one of Jeup’s effortless high notes, Solar and VCG both let out a WHOA! We also get a bunch of shots of the judges and the other contestants expressing surprised approval of Seunghun’s fast rapping.
When the guys fall to their knees, everyone reacts as if they never saw anything like this before in their lives. BtoB does the same thing in the original choreo! Sigh. Anyway.
Side note: We get this shot of some on-deck guys being surprised, and I was like, wait, who the fuck are these people?
Tumblr media
I only recognized Kim Seohyung at first, but then I realized that that’s Geonu on the left and Soomin on the right. I guess I really connected Soomin to his slightly frizzy/curly look and didn’t recognize him like this. I approve of the color change in Geonu’s hair, but I do wish he’d consider restyling it. He has a kind of round jaw line that makes him look a bit like Suho from Exo (that is a big compliment!) and I think he’d look better with a haircut a bit like this:
Tumblr media
Is this just an excuse to put a picture of Suho in this unrelated recap? YOU be the judge!
I also think that Geonu could pull off the controlled mullet that Suho rocked in Hurdle.
Tumblr media
Are you ever just happy that Suho exists? Because I am.
Basically Geonu needs to have his hair bigger on top to balance his rounder jaw. That’s my entirely unexpert opinion as someone whose hair is down to her mid-back at the moment because she so fears haircuts.
Ok, back to the performance. Where was I? Oh yeah, the part where they fall to their knees. Everyone is so amazed by Seunghun’s rap that we have to have multiple instant replays.
The judges say…
When the guys are done, Jaehwan is on his feet, while the others are just sort of quietly muttering, “Wow.” Baekho gets to his feet too, and VCG just sort of repeats, “Wow, that was so good. That was SOOO good.” Backstage, Inhyuk says that this is the first time a performance on this show gave him goosebumps.
Backstage, poor Bain’s team is like, well, we’re screwed.
The judges banter a bit, and tease Eunkwang that he shouldn’t even try to critique them -- he should just tell them they did a good job. Eunkwang agrees and says that he almost cried.
Dahee asks the judges for their feedback, and the trio looks anxious.
Tumblr media
The three faces of terror. LTR: Jeup, Seunghun, Suhwan
Eunkwang goes first. The translation here is bad, so let me paraphrase as to what I think he was saying: “As I was watching, I almost cried. So thank you for doing such a great job. It’s harder to do it without choreography or anything like that, but you did great. If my group, BtoB, were to sing it like this, all stripped down and without choreography -- I don't think we could. Your youthful energy carried you through, and I found the performance refreshing.”
Solar says, “We’ve seen many performances so far, and I liked this one the best. I think it was the most perfect performance so far. I got chills toward the end.  I have no words. It was really good.” And Baekho points out that Solar was so engrossed in the performance that she crumpled her note-taking paper without noticing.

Bain’s team backstage is like, well, we’re screwed. And BRP-unnie, watching on an airplane, is like, well, I’m screwed.
Jaehwan compliments Seunghun’s rapping, and everyone talks about what an all-rounder he is.
VCG talks about how they can be moved even hearing lyrics in English (that they don’t understand) because of the song’s mood. Hey, man, us Western k-pop fans know that feeling well! He also compliments Jeup’s amazing high notes that he hits without using falsetto. Jeup really is an amazing singer.
Then Dahee announces the next team, whose performance we won’t see until next episode.
Tumblr media
They’re obviously pretty nervous after what they just saw. Bitsaeon compliments the other team but says that they came here to do their best, and that’s what they’re going to do.
Baekho says, “This song isn’t easy, either!” Wendy says, “But I think it suits these three.”
What is the song? I still think it must be Unforgiven from the outfits…
But we hear a tiny snippet of it before the episode ends and it’s just enough for me to identify the song as
BAD NEWS BY KISS OF LIFE
I’m dead, I’m officially dead. I’ll have to save some of my talk about KIOF for the next post but omg I love them soooo much.
Man, if Team Bit-bain is eliminated on Bad News, I’ll be bummed. But I’m so glad that Baekho and Wendy know the song and have an opinion about it. Kiss of Life is getting to be known!
Ok anyway we’ll talk more about it in the next post, when one of these two amazing teams is going to be eliminated, and I have a theory as to which one and I’m already bummed about it. But that’s what we all signed up for when we decided to watch this show.
See you in the next one!

LOVE + FEAR TOUR: OLIMA & WESTWOOD
In the first chapter of our “Love + Fear” Tour fashion story, we looked at the impeccable designs LA-based Maggie Barry created for our girl’s fourth promotional tour. This time, we’re gonna take a look at the all the super fun corset costumes Marina wore!
Tumblr media
We’re starting off strong with a custom set by OLIMA. The detailed corset top and matching silky shorts were custom-made by the Los Angeles-based costume designer in various colors and prints. The first one in plain teal!
Tumblr media
All of Marina’s jewelry here is signed by Sylvia Toledano. She wore the Petite Candy hoops in gold brass with turquoise, turquoise verte, cornaline, yellow onyx, amethyst, died ruby and moonstone...
Tumblr media
...the Fall/Winter 2019 Lee long necklace with multicolored stones which she wrapped twice around her neck...
Tumblr media
...and the Byzantine cuff with green turquoise, dried ruby, turquoise, amethyst, cornaline, green onyx, tiger eye, yellow onyx, black onyx and calcedoine.
Tumblr media
Her shoes, which match her co-ord perfectly, are Nike’s Air Max 1 Ultra Moire women’s sneakers in white leather and teal suede.
Tumblr media
For many other tour dates, Marina opted for a pink version of the same ensemble! This one features some ruching along the sides of the corset and a subtle fringe trim along the hem of her shorts.
Tumblr media
You should instantly recognize these stunners by now. These pink Jelly hoops belong to the “Loucite” collection of Alison Lou!
Tumblr media
Our girl also added on some golden accessories from Lilith by Sita. First up, the Sita snake thin choker in brass.
Tumblr media
Not to forget, her Sita gold-plated brass snake charm and chain belt!
Tumblr media
Marina loves being comfortable on stage! So a pair of the Nike Huarache sneakers in full white completed the look.
Tumblr media
The cutest corset ever is this white & blue silk one that features a printed photo of Marina’s two fur kittens Mavis and Jupiter! She also wore some high-waisted lace-up silk shorts.
Tumblr media
For some other tour dates, Marina opted for this rich purple silk co-ord set with green paintbrush stroke-esque bits...
Tumblr media
...which she matched with the Tuleste chartreuse marabou pom-pom dangle earrings.
Tumblr media
For her show in Austin (TX), Marina debuted a white silk corset with coral & gold abstract jacquard front, and high-waisted mini skirt with two slits.
Tumblr media
She accessorized with her beloved Chanel gold-tone metal diamond-shaped textured CC logo clip earrings…
Tumblr media
...and the gold sunburst logo necklace, another vintage treasure from the French maison. Also, the aforementioned Lilith by Sita choker.
Tumblr media
One of the most iconic looks from her tour is the Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer 1988 “Pagan I” collection boned silk corset featuring the iconic pink teddy bear.
Her billowy silk ruffle shorts are custom-made by OLIMA.
Tumblr media
The second Vivienne Westwood silk corset comes from the Fall/Winter 1992 “Always on Camera” collection and features a collie print with 3D bow at the front. It was sourced at Paparazzi 2000 Vintage.

Clementine strangled out a gruff sound as Kunhang tugged on her arm and caused her gash to emit another steady trail of blood. “You cunt!” Clementine cried, looking up at the malignant male above her but he only gave her a wicked smile before tugging her to his side. “Don't be like that, darling.” Yangyang mused from beside her. Yizhuo's eyes were already bloodshot; her skin had gone pale, scarily pale, Wendy pale.
“Please, don't I'd do anything..” Huo pleaded before breaking down fully, Clementine sworn that she would've drowned in her own tears. Her hand reached out for Clem's but the sovereignty only pulled her closer to his side before walking off and Yangyang stayed; not for sympathy.
“Where are you–”
“You're not fit for my game.” The male looked down at the girl to his side, his usual doe eyes now carried some sort of.. evil sympathy for her; they narrowed. “You're different, I can't explain it..” Clementine could only look cluelessly into his eyes, she was flummoxed once again. “W-what about Yizhuo?” She questioned, her voice echoing through the vast halls; the palpable tension made the hairs on her neck stand but they fell once Hendery's demeanour changed.
“My dear, who's that?” Hendery's head tilted but Clementine only furrowed her brows in shock.
“My friend down over there?!” She winced as she turned and pointed from their starting point then Kunhang let out an innocent “oh” to his realization.
“She'll be fine.”
“She won't.”
“I believe she will, for now.”
“For now?!” She yanked her hand away from his with wide eyes but ends up stumbling back and falling onto an antique couch. Kunhang only bared his teeth at the heave Clementine made before clenching her side. “She's fine.” His tone was apathetic before he sighed and snapped his fingers for the stubby female servant you now noticed standing beside a small royal blue tapestry with a cursive “C” embroidered on it. “Clean up her wound and ensure that she'll be brought to my chamber.” The servant bows to his request the shuffled over to Clem's side to help her up, her eyes filled with fret. Kunhang only watched for a few seconds before turning away to head down the hallway further.
“Kunhang–” Clementine rasped, “Don't hurt her, I pray?” Clementine held back her loathe on the fact that she would have to ask that as a question more than a statement in this moment but here she is. The king pauses with his hand on the doorknob; even from the distance between them, Clementine noticed the clench of his jaw. He turned, his eyes held no sort of emotion, “We have no obligations to keep you two alive for long..” and even before Clementine could reject further, he headed out the door.
Clem could only sniffle and sob before the lady reassured her with a foreign prayer, the servant only kept an eye on her wound and never looked into her eyes as if to hide her shame. They both made it to the infirmary sector and she tended Clem's wound with some sort of strong smelling alcohol but it didn't burn, her heart burned though.. She wondered what happened to Yizhuo; was she sent home or was she even alive..
The gown Clementine wore was a pretty blue, not too dark or light but in the middle. The servant allowed Clem to walk to his room alone with very brief directions with a very thick accent but she only understood because of her dedication. Clementine thanked the old servant for not shoving a corset around her injured waist and left her with a comfortable layer of bandage that wrapped around it. On her way there, she stopped by a mirror. Her outfit wasn't as exaggerating which bummed her out a bit but the material was translucent satisfyingly soft, like dragline. It reminded her of the story of Archane, she remembered how her grandmother only told her about the tale to scare her into being nice to her elders, even if they're wrong. Clem's nails then trailed to her jacquard court collars and then eyed the hem of her dress at her ankles that also had the same sequence of weaving.
Clementine made it to his alcove, the vast, lavish room was primarily different shades of blue, it's more luxurious items had contained silver and some gold embroidered on it. “Hmmph– Humph!” What was that? “Hmmph! Hmph, Hmph!” the sound came more aggressive. Clementine looked all around her, “Hmmph! Humph!!” She turned and there was Yizhuo, bound with a handkerchief in her mouth. Her eye cosmetic was smudged around her eye like a jester's kohl around his eyes, her lashes were in clumps; coming closer, she noticed how the brown ropes that bounded her were starting to rash and irritate her skin.
The second that Clementine reached for her gag, the door opened. “You both found each other well..” Clementine rolled her eyes at his comment just imagining the wolfish grin to his face. “Wherfore don't we play a game to glad you two up?” based off the proximity of his voice, he was just behind her so she turned. “I don't think that's needful, your Majesty.” He raised a simple brow at your statement before sliding his hands in his navy blue trousers.
“Oh–” He chuckles, “I believe it is necessary..” Clem sighed before nodding. “Wafh's fhe game?” Yizhuo replied but it was muffled by the cloth in her mouth, narrowing her eyes at Kunhang before rocking herself in the chair again.
“Either join me or your friend. Practically, Team “Die Trying” or “Surviving”, you should know which is which.” He stared at Yizhuo, smiling cruelly at the girl. He gently pushed you aside before unwinding Huo's bindings, she only could whimper. The door opened and Kunhang motioned for Yangyang to join the three,
“Or perhaps maybe us both?”

As I don’t have a certified authentic Gucci black one, I’d began to look at the black belts and soon realised their max dimension is around the ninety to 95cm mark. They don’t have a dimension filter on web site either so I trawled through all of them to verify. Some show up to 110cm however are all exhibiting a cross via and aren’t available in boutiques.
