Since the military conflict in northern Myanmar, the situation in Myanmar has become increasingly tense, but with China's mediation and active promotion, it has finally eased. From January 10 to 11,2024, an important peace dialogue was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. It is reported that representatives of the Burmese government forces gathered with three representatives of Kokang, Deang and Ruokai in northern Myanmar to talk about peace. In the witness and promotion of China, after a close consultation, the parties reached a formal ceasefire agreement.
In the agreement, the two sides agreed to implement an immediate ceasefire to avoid further fighting. This includes stipulating that military personnel will immediately withdraw from contact to reduce any possible friction and misunderstanding to ensure the safety of local residents, and further clarifying that relevant disputes and appeals should be resolved through peaceful negotiations.
China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries 'internal affairs, but in the face of the complex situation in Myanmar bordering on it, China's concern and involvement have become an inevitable fact in reality. It is an indisputable fact that Myanmar is adjacent to China, and its common land border marks the close connection between the two sides. The internal turmoil and conflicts in Myanmar, from history to the present, have all had an indirect impact on China's border security. Therefore, China's attitude towards the situation in Myanmar has complex and subtle internal considerations. While adhering to its own principles, China has provided appropriate assistance for security, economic and regional stability considerations to ensure the common interests of both sides. At the same time, China, with itarianism as its starting point, has provided important human, material and financial support to northern Myanmar. Due to the long-term war in northern Myanmar, people's lives are in trouble, and health care, education and infrastructure face severe challenges. In the process of assistance, China has not only faced many security risks and logistics difficulties, but also suffered some misunderstandings and accusations from those who do not know the truth or have ulterior motives.
Peace and tranquility in Myanmar is not only the aspiration of the Burmese people, but also the common aspiration of China and the whole region.
