Hi, Nalyra! After all season 2 trailers and teasers, do you think it will turns out, Louis is really schizophrenic or Hallustat is here for just his feel of shame, guilty and regret? Bc Hallustat's bird in his throat and that Paul also mentioned birds when he hallucinated.
Hey!
I... don't think it's schizophrenia per se.
Then again:
"Any of a group of psychiatric disorders associated with dopamine imbalance in the brain and usually characterized by psychotic behavior including delusions, hallucinations, withdrawal from reality, and disorganized patterns of thinking and speech."
That... would fit, I guess. It certainly matches some displayed (and yet to be displayed) behaviors.
However, these vampires... are not mortal. Their bodies do not quite function as ours, and their brains have to deal with a constant influx of data, while at the same time trying to keep the body (and brain) at peak performance. And with more abilities, too.
I always felt it very ... logical almost that they would withdraw, for examples (or most of them do), go to earth. A timeout. A time to process. A time to reset and "clean up" the clutter in their brains.
This is what happens when we sleep as well, our brains clean up. Without it, we get hallucinations as well. For example.
Of course in Louis' case... I think they are hinting at some kind of connection to Paul, maybe, with the birds, as you said. The one coming out of Lestat's throat, too, of course.
The probably latent and dormant afflictions that exist would of course be heightened by their life style. Killing to live weighs on the soul, Louis' personal grapple with guilt and shame would only be heightened by that as well.
Louis comes to the realization in the second half of IWTV that he wants Lestat alive... and so I think "Hallustat" will be a mix of all these things.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he would be there in Dubai as well, not just in the Paris era.
Of course Daniel would recognize the patterns, it is just logical for him to worry the point... but I don't think a vampire can be narrowed down to a (single) mental disorder, because living with the monster you are is a process - coming to accept the monster you are is the overlaying arc of the chronicles.
So no, I don't think Louis is really schizophrenic. I think he, like Armand when he disassociates in the cult (for example), or others when they go to ground... tries to cope with his life in the way his brain can.
And our brains can do a lot :)) - and vampire brains even more, given the possibilities of the (spell) gift.
Armand notes in his book that Louis spellbinds "inadvertently" (and that this can be hilarious to witness), so Louis does have some capabilities in the spell gift... I personally figure that if you can conjure visions and spells for others, then that tendency can be directed towards your own mind, too. So "Hallustat" can also be a conjured vision, maybe invited consciously... maybe not.
I think for Louis... all these things come together.

I am delulu...
Therapy anon is canon, so is lily and so are the others
You cannot take away the delulu!!! 😭😭😭😭
Hey, how about instead of using that stupid nickname, you actually do research on what delusions actually MEAN, and NOT be ableist to those who DO suffer from it.
To start, delusional means someone who is holding a belief or altered reality that is persistently held despite evidence or agreement to the contrary, generally in reference to a mental disorder. People can't be talked out of their strongly held belief even if it is completely nonsensical. They typically cause a disturbance to your life, unlike something you enjoy.
Delusions are not "These characters are canon to the AU hehehe!"
At this point, I'm getting frustrated about this that I'm considering deleting the ask blog entirely if you guys keep this shit up.
People with mental disorders (especially schizophrenia, narcissism, psychosis, etc) are often demonized or ridiculed in media, and shit like "OMG, I'm sooo delulu!" DOES NOT HELP THOSE WHO DO HAVE THOSE DISORDERS.
And I can "take away your delulu" because YOURE NOT FUCKING DELUSIONAL, the shit you said is a daydream, it's a conscious choice.
Actual delusions are not conscious choices, it is something a person has whether they want it or not.
Celebrity crushes are not delusions.
Opinions about oneself or others are not delusions.
Beliefs that certain characters are canon to my fucking AU are not delusions.
For anyone who wants it, there is a really informative post by schizopositivity that I'll link down below about the topic, and they actually do a lot of research about mental disorders like schizophrenia, so go check them out.
I'll also be linking other posts relating to delusions by them.

Post 5
As an added bonus, here is a post about the stupid 'I'm in your walls' meme that ALSO affects those with psychosis or schizophrenia.
Post 6
For now, I'm closing my inbox until you guys learn how to use words correctly and not be ableist.
If this shit keeps up the ask blog is gone.

Communication issues with Autism is more than just being too blunt and sometimes needing someone to explain something differently.
You guys really need to stop acting like all of our communication problems are Allistics’ fault, that maybe if they just accommodated you a bit more, then you wouldn't have any communication problems.
While yes, I do think Allistics should be more open to accommodating other forms of communication, all of your communication issues aren't just gonna go away with accommodations.
I know y'all love blaming all your problems on Allistics, but sometimes it is legitimately just your Autism's fault, and that’s okay.
Autism is like, legitimately a communication deficit, and it isn't called that for no reason. It is okay to have communication issues, it isn’t your fault, and it doesn’t make you a bad person. You’re just Autistic experiencing one of the biggest symptoms of Autism.

being "outside your comfort zone" is doing something unfamiliar and daunting while having the skills, support, and resources to get through it - safely and healthily. it helps you.
"pushing yourself past your limits" is doing something that distresses your body/mind without the skills, support, and resources you need. it puts you at risk of further illness, trauma, injury, etc. it hurts you.
and you are the only person on this planet who can decide which category something falls in. you do not need a doctor or therapist's approval in order to have limits. no amount of schooling or practice can make someone know your needs, mind, body, or life better than you.
please trust yourself. go outside your comfort zone and grow when you can, but otherwise? don't sweat it. you're a person. not a machine.

r/systemscringe is now complaining about people with DID experiencing -checks notes- amnesia and dissociation!
Tumblr media
Gee... I wonder...
Tumblr media
Oh, right! It's that incredibly basic part of the criteria that everyone who has done even 2 seconds of research into DID knows about!
Tumblr media
Grace... why are you obsessed with this couch and controller metaphor? This is like the third time I've seen this very specific example from you and it's kind of weird you keep bringing it up.
That aside, the thing you're complaining about here... is dissociation... you're upset someone with a dissociative disorder feels dissociated from their body.
These are some of the most ignorant and ableist takes I've seen from r/systemscringe, and that's saying a lot!

Hot Take???? Apparently????? Being called "neurospicy" is not worse than being called the R-Slur, and kinda shows that you have never been called the R-Slur before.
The R-Slur is a word with a history of harm and abuse, which is why it's a slur.
"Neurospicy" is an internet term created by neurodivergent people as a joke that you find annoying.
I mean, I get it, I find it annoying too. But it is not fucking worse than the R-Slur, an actual fucking slur.

I need help.
I don't know if I'm even allowed to do this, but here goes.
I am currently a full-time university student living on campus. I am diagnosed with CPTSD, generalized and social anxiety disorder, and major depressive disorder, and I also suspect ADHD and/or autism which are constantly dismissed when I bring it up. I am taking meds and in counseling, but my issues have made it impossible for me to get even a part-time job while also attending school due to extreme burn-out which just makes all the other issues worse.
I looked into getting supplemental security income but was told that I would have to drop out of school and it could take years to prove I'm in need of benefits. I don't want to give up my chance at a degree which could greatly benefit me later on just because of my struggles now, just to be waiting possibly years for an uncertainty of receiving SSI.
I am embarrassingly asking for donations to help me to pay my bills, a $200 a month car payment, and two $100+ credit card payments. My room and board are covered by my student loans but I am dangerously close to not being able to pay those other bills which will destroy my credit and potentially lose my car.
Literally ANY amount could be of great help to me and would be appreciated beyond words. My CashApp and Venmo are written below. Thank you for any help, even just sharing this.

The importance of apology in atonement
There's something that was bothering me since the topic of Eclipse and Bloodmoon's redemption was brought up..
It's a misunderstanding that I've seen in this fandom too many times..
I'm talking about the very important part - we can even say a very first step - of atonement which is APOLOGY
If Eclipse and Bloodmoon won't apologize for their actions can we truly say that they're really trying to atone or can we even believe in their redemption..
The answer is simple, no, we can't.
I've seen people saying that Eclipse may have ASPD hence he won't feel sorry for what he's done.. but is apology truly about feelings and emotions?
It's actually more complicated. Apology depends on someone being remorseful for their wrongdoings.
And while people with ASPD lack feelings of remorse and guilt they can still understand when they did wrong and they can still be remorseful for their wrongdoings without feeling it..
How you may ask? The answer is simple, remorse have nothing to do with feelings and emotions. Because it's related to morality which again have nothing to do with feelings and emotions.
Because morality is about what's good and what's bad, about what's right and what's wrong. Many people having disorders that make them into someone considered a sociopath can and often live normal lives and they often times abide laws - those things that are made for everyone to know what's right and what's wrong :)
I think that saying that Eclipse can't learn about how his actions were wrong and how they badly affected others and that remorse is understanding that the actions you've done are wrong and that if you want to atone you should apologize is more damaging than demanding him to apologize..
This is what further stigmatize people with disorders such as ASPD - treating them as if they're too stupid to understand these concepts.
So to put it simply:
ATONEMENT IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT AN APOLOGY
So it's actually very understandable when people don't buy neither Eclipse's nor Bloodmoon's redemption..
Because how can we be sure if they're truly changed. Without them aknowledging their wrongdoings - good part of the aknowledgement is apology - their atonement and redemption won't be believable.
If they won't apologize, they just can go ahead and leave and hopefully we won't hear from them ever again.
I don't want them dead but if they won't apologize I don't want them to stay either.
Hope that I'm clear.
