So I might post some holiday snaps later if people want to see them but in important crafting news, I started another Taylor cardigan (this time on the right yarn weight and needle size 😅 - I'm using Stylecraft Highland Heathers in Granite and DK special in Bottle)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Started and finished the back and am now working on the left front, the colourway comes from this version of the cardigan from 2020 which officially was listed on the merch store as one of two holiday cardigans, but it also came out around the same time as evermore which is one of my most beloved albums so I'm just calling it the evermore cardigan

TWC Fic - Return Home
I’ve finally finished the snippet I’ve been working on. It’s not much, but it’s a great feeling to feel inspired for not just art, but also writing. :D
If you want to take a look at my Detective, Marcus, you find his character sheet here. Enjoy!
„So, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m hungry.” After Unit Bravo has settled all over my living-room, I head towards the kitchen to make myself something to eat. I also need a moment to breathe and Homer, who has been startled by the arrival of so many strangers at once, is already sitting on the kitchen counter, staring at me with his yellow eyes in an accusatory manner, demanding treats as compensation for being disturbed. I notice that his food bowl is still half full, and his water looks like it’s been changed earlier today as well. I notice a post-it on the fridge door that bears Tina’s handwriting. I pick it up to read it – “Hey Marcus! Your mother asked me to feed Homie and the fish while you’re at the seminar. Sorry for treating Homie a little too well… T.” Mum knows that I have pets and I silently thank her for sending Tina to look after them.
I wish I could say that unlike the cat I didn’t mind having guests over but in reality, it stresses me out more than I like to admit. Sure, Tina or Verda and his family sometimes pop in on the weekends, but well… that is something completely different. Also, they aren’t vampires and usually don’t stay to watch over my life because some other, crazy evil vampire is after me, or my blood specifically.
When I step through the macramé curtain that separates the kitchen from the rest of the flat, I take a deep breath and bring my focus back to the task at hand, emphasized by the light rumbling of my stomach. Hmm, I think I should have some pasta I think to myself and browse the shelve above the kitchen table, one hand pressed against my hip and with the other pointing at the various glass jars I use for storage. The flat is not very large, but it has a high ceiling, so most of my storage is along the walls and up. The downside is – I am rather short. But being prepared for this, I am just about to grab the step ladder I store underneath the table when the sound of the wooden beads woven into the strands of the curtain clacking against each other makes me turn my head.
“Need any help to reach something or are you bending over for me?” The growling voice was – of course – Mason’s, who had followed me into the kitchen.
“Yes actually,” I hope he doesn’t notice how the heat that was induced by his comment is creeping up my face. “Could you hand me the jar with the farfalle, please?”
When he raises an eyebrow in confusion, I quickly add “the noodles that are shaped like little butterflies.” I point at the corresponding jar on the shelf and quickly turn towards the stove to grab a pot and pan and keep my hands too busy to tremble.
A few minutes later, the farfalle are boiling in a pot while I’m frying some onions and garlic and chop a paprika to add some colour and vitamins to my dinner. Mason has been leaning in the corner between the door-frame and the fridge this whole time, watching me under lowered lids. I have gotten somewhat used to his presence now and just as I’m about to head over to the fridge to get some feta cheese out, I hear Felix from the living room.
“What are you cooking Marcus? Smells delicious!”
I pause in my steps to lean closer towards the door-frame so he can hear my reply better.
“Pasta with garlic – it’s a relief to know I won’t poison any of you guys with it.” I hear his and Nat’s amused chuckle and face the fridge, realising that with my movement I’ve come unexpectedly close to Mason.
“Just so you know, I can help you work off the calories you’re about to shovel into yourself later,” he mutters quietly enough that the others can impossibly hear it. His comment is accompanied by a smirk and a roll of his shoulders.
I inhale sharply and quickly look at an undetermined spot at the fridge door, heat creeping up my face again because I can feel his gaze lingering on me. I blink a few times, trying to decide whether this was one of his usual flirtations or a backhanded compliment. I know I’m not even half as athletic as any of you guys, but I’m comfortable in my body, I think to myself, feeling a sudden sting of anger mixed into my agitation.
“I, uh… I don’t see a point in that”, I manage to reply, continuing to avoid his stormy grey eyes that I feel are still lingering on me and travelling towards my middle. I inhale sharply and cross my arms over my chest, looking up at him with what I hope is at least a little bit angry.
“If the prospect of exercise pleases you so much”, I hope he doesn’t notice the sudden wave of even more heat that flushes my cheeks now that I’m directly looking into his eyes, “I can leave the car here and we walk to the station tomorrow morning. The weather is supposed to be good enough for this.”
“There are many things that would please me a lot more than strolling through town with you, handsome, but following you around has its benefits.” His tone is so suggestive, I wonder how my body even managed to produce more heat in response to it, and I am already fumbling for words again, my gaze still locked with his, and I notice how the smile that follows his response makes his stormy grey eyes twinkle teasingly again.
“One of them is,” he continues and raises one hand to let it linger next to my cheek, “that we’ll surely find a moment where we’re alone in this cosy apartment of yours.” This new proposition, combined with the almost-touch of his surprisingly warm hand, makes my stomach flutter almost painfully and I swallow hard, staring at him wide-eyed for a moment before he frowns and pulls his hand away, glancing towards the direction of the living-room.
“Go get your noodles, Detective. I bet they taste horrible when they’re cold.” His tone is somewhere between amused and irritated and a smirk is again playing around the corners of his mouth.
I clear my throat and scratch my skin underneath the turtle-neck I’m wearing, trying to regain my composure.
“I, uh, I think you have a point. Yeah, I should better eat now.” I ramble, my thoughts racing around what had just happened. Now I remember that originally, I wanted to add some cheese, but with my nerves all over the place, and Mason still leaning in front of the fridge, I just pour the noodles into a bowl and throw the fried vegetables from the pan on top and head over to the living room.
By the time I sit down next to Nat on the couch underneath my loft bed, I’m glad my pulse has stopped racing and that the dimmed light in the living room hopefully helps conceal the red spots that are still lingering on my cheeks.
While I eat, I can’t help but notice how comfortable everyone seems. Well, as comfortable as someone like Ava could ever be, I notice with a smile – the agent has settled down on the windowsill of the bay window, still keeping both my door and the street below in her view but seeming more relaxed than when we arrived. Felix lay sprawled over the pillows in front of the couch, watching the aquarium on the outer wall with an amused smile pulling at his mouth and Nat is still sitting next to me, scratching Homer between his orange ears. After a few minutes, Mason joins us in the room as well, throwing himself into the chair at my desk across the room, watching us – or me? – under half-closed lids, his expression unreadable.
Yes, I think I could get used to having Unit Bravo around, I think as I shove another spoon full of my dinner into my mouth, and for the first time today, manage to relax as well.

Love Bites.
AePete AU
"There are no accidental meetings between souls."
Pete is a vampire. AND NO – he is not some sparkling diamond vampire – though whoever look at Pete will say he is a sparkling Prince – but no – Pete is not a twilight vampire nor is he Bram Stroker’s Dracula vampire.
He is a half Noble vampire. His mother is a powerful dragon seeker while his father is a full blooded Noble.
The Nobles are an ancient and powerful race that possess great strength, speed and telepathy as well as various blood related abilities, such as the talent to grant similar powers to others via contracts "of blood and soul". They reside on an island nation, known as Lukedonia, that cannot be detected by human senses. They have guarded humans against predators and the forces of nature as long as they have existed, due to a genetic inability to ignore the slaughter of the weak, helpless humans. Thousands of years ago, they were worshipped as gods by various cultures around the world.
However, the Nobles are nearing extinction due to a scarcity of females to mate with. With their lifemates, male Nobles live emotion-filled colorful lives. Without them, the males fight the madness that causes them to choose between suicide or the thrill of killing humans by draining their blood, becoming soulless vampires in the process.
But he doesn’t apply to these category as he is not a full blood Noble.
Pete is a gentle and way too sweet and shy half Noble that his father deem him unworthy of the gift and vanished him, and because his mother loves Pete so much – they both abandon the life in Lukedonia and travel and after a hundred years of traveling to different countries, they settle to Thailand.
Pete’s mother was born in Thailand. She loves the country, the people, the beauty and the serenity of the land.
Pete and his mother change their surname to fit in with the Thai people and they settle on an old mansion. His mother told him to live like a normal boy and because Pete doesn’t crave blood like ordinary Noble, he is free to go out even on sunlight. As he is also a part Dragon Seeker, he doesn’t turn into ash or die if the sun hits his skin. He is what the others may call Day Walker.
Pete’s mother looks at her son. She worries about Pete as the first to being a half Noble and half Dragon Seeker boy to ever live. Most of the half-breeds die at their 50th years of age. But Pete is nearing his 300 years of age and though he is the same as the Nobles who lost their colour of sight, Pete never changes. He doesn’t crave blood (though she gave him blood via blood bag through blood bank), doesn’t go dark, every night she administer a soul and spirit check on his body but its clean… more like pure. Her son has a purest white soul.
Putch heard about the legendary Noblesse but never given it a thought. For all her life, she knew only of one Noblesse and that person is not half but a full blood Noble.
Putch told Pete to live his life freely. Whoever he chooses, whether it be human or of the same kind, she will support him.
Pete met Ae.
Pete was walking out of his campus when again the pain in his head hits him, the pain and disoriented blurry visions keeps on popping out in his head. He wasn’t aware what’s happening in his surrounding when he heard a shout and someone drag his body and both of him and the other stumble in the ground with a loud impact.
‘Are you driving to hell?! And you! What the hell are you doing not looking where you’re walking?! Are you planning to die?! If you are, choose a place where I’m not there!’
Pete doesn’t understand what’s happening but his heart then begun to hammer and his visions doubled… the ground… its grey… he looks at his surrounding and he was blinded by the burst of colours.
COLOURS!
He can see colours…
But the only time a Noble can see colour is when they find their lifemate through voice or connection.
‘Oi! Are you okay?!’
Pete stumbled once again on the ground and clutch his heart tight.
Its beating crazily and there’s a line.
A magic being woven.
A connection being form.
Pete found himself being raise by the person and for the first time he looks at him.
Pete gasped.
Black obsidian eyes looks at him.
‘Are you okay? You’re bleeding!’
He what?! Impossible!
He looks and yeah, he is bleeding. But why?
That’s their first meeting.
The man who gave him colour and light ~ Ae. A small boy but with sturdy muscular body and a harsh foul mouth.
Ae cannot help but feel lucky and at the same time with the thinking: “Did I ever save the whole country on my past life to have a friend like Pete?”
Each and everyone who knew Ae will know that he is a brute. He doesn’t have any sweet bone in his body, he doesn’t even have a STOP DON’T SAY IT brake on his mouth. He will say what he want to say especially to some idiots who lacks braincells.
Pond calls Ae: “Son of a Beast! He will kick his only best friend and whacks my head if I so much get on his business and be nosy! See this! See this?! That’s his fist! My skull already has a dent in the form of his fist!”
Ping: “The greatest man but has the foulest mouth on the planet. He doesn’t care nor doesn’t give a damn what other people will think. I have never been the receiving end of his fist and kick so I’m happy to say that he is still a friend I can count on.”
Bow: “Tactless beast! He just made someone cry when he flat our rejected her. But that’s what I like about Ae, he never take advantage of people and will always be there to help others.”
Can: “Ae is the bestest of the best man out there! He doesn’t give a damn and will help me even though he doesn’t know me! He is a great bastard buddy!”
Captain of the Football Team: “Ae is our MVP. He may be 174 cm shorty but he can kick those asses good bye! We love Ae in this team. He brings glory to us! Well except when he beat us Sports Science when he is an Engineering Major…”
LadyBoys: “I don’t know how the hell a muscular, sexy abs, yummy muscles belong to that shorty with foul mouth! This is an outrage! He even give me the middle finger when I told him if he wants to spend the night with me! Such barbaric action against me a lady!”
Pete chuckles to the different description of Ae.
For him, Ae is the opposite of what they say and he cant help wander why. Ae is sweet to him. Ae never finds him annoying and he is always pinching his cheeks or ruffling his hair. Ae told him that he likes his hair, soft and silky (well he is a half-Noble so his hair is entirely different from humans)
Ae never rush him when they are eating. Its hard for him to swallow cause he is not used to eating the food Ae gave him, he eats either fruits and drinks blood via blood bags from blood bank. So its really really hard for him to swallow any meat and vegetables.
Ae cares about his safety that Ae will bike all the way to his apartment and drop him off (when all he did was walked, he is a Noble so walking for an hour or so is nothing to him, or he can just jump building to building or well, fly – he is not human after all)
The Engineering Department won the game with Ae’s two points versus Sports Science and instead of joining the seniors and juniors at the party, Ae went to Pete. Pete was alarmed when Ae was at his apartment. Pete looks at the full moon and this is the time that he is very weak and the blood bags are not stored in his freezer where he usually storms them.
He has been feeling weak for the couple of days and the blurry visions and headache keeps on attacking him.
Ae was worried because Pete promise to watch the game only he didn’t show up. Pete never miss a game and he was not answering his line messages as well.
‘Pete, what’s wrong? You’re so pale.’ Ae was scared for Pete. Pete’s skin is milky white with a blush but the Pete before him is pale as ghost.
‘Ae… please go. I’m okay. Please please go.’
‘No! I will be here! Tell me what to do!’
‘Ae please! Go!’
Ae was angry now when Pete seems to be pushing him.
Pete was crying and Ae doesn’t know what to do. Ae tried to hug him but Pete pushed him -  a little bit strong that made Ae stumbled and hurt.
‘OH! AE! Im sorry! But please please. I don’t want to hurt you! Please go!’
Pete was scared – he can feel hunger.
He had never felt his way before.
He can smell it… the delicious smell of blood. He clench his teeth and told Ae once again to go.
‘No! I will not go!’
‘Ae please… I don’t want you to hate me… please’
Ae is crying now as well, ‘Please tell me Pete what’s wrong with you?’
‘Ae… I… I- please just go.’
‘No!’
‘Ae!’
Then everything on Pete’s memory become a blur and then darkness.
He doesn’t remember anything.
What he remembers is the sweet taste of blood in his lips.
He woke up and was shock.
He was scared.
‘Ae?’
Everything – his surrounding is full of blood. Dried blood.
‘NO! NO! AE!’
‘What?’
‘Huh?’ Pete looks up and saw Ae running to him. Ae in his shorts and wet hair.
‘Pete are you okay?’
‘Ae?’
‘Yes.’
‘Ae!’
‘Yes! That’s me! I mean yes what?’
‘You-you’re okay… what-what? Blood?’
‘Ah. Well… First of all, Pete this is not my blood. This is the blood from the bag inside your freezer. And well, some of them are your blood.’
‘What happen Ae?’
‘You kinda turn dart vader last night. You push me – well more like – haul me – good thing it was a soft sofa and went to the freezer, you open the blood bag and drink it, but you throw it away saying ‘It taste like rot’ and then you look at me-‘
‘Ae! Oh my! Did I hurt-‘
‘I’m not hurt. I understand what’s happening even though I don’t believe it – but you well, your eyes turned blue and your fangs kinda shows and told me your are so thirsty. I offer you my blood-‘
‘NO!’
‘Well yes, but when you are nearing me, you bite your own arm. And told me to get out.’
‘Then why are you still here?’
‘I can never leave you Pete. You look like your dying. And you were speaking about soul contract or blood contract-‘
‘GOD NO!’
‘Well – I don’t want you to suffer… and I understand that you need blood. I gave it to you freely.’
Pete then put his trembling hands to Ae’s neck, removing the towel, and yes, there it is his bite.
‘Ae! Oh God! I’m so sorry!’
‘Pete don’t be. I agree with it.’
‘No! no! You don’t know what it means-‘
‘It means that you’re going to drink my blood from now on. That my blood is the only blood you’ll ever drink.’
‘Ae why? Why didn’t you leave. I’m  a monster Ae. You should have left me…’
‘Pete. We have been fighting last night more than hours – me telling you to drink my blood while you insisting I get out. You even threatened to kiss me and enchant me with your other spell from your mother side and I still stayed.’
‘Why? Why Ae?’
Ae smiled and put his two hands on Pete’s cheek, ‘Because you are not a monster. You are a pure cute vampire. My vampire.’
THIS IS NOT THE END. There will be a proper chapter by chapter story fic. Thank you.
Author’s Note : I was looking for another name for Vampire when I remember about the webtoon that I’ve read years ago (its still on going) it’s a Korean manhwa title: NOBLESSE. I borrowed the title or the race and some places. I just don’t want to say just a vampire.

Breathless
“Ugh,” You grunted as you scowled in the mirror, adjusting the rigid corset tied around your middle, “I don’t know if this is right.”
“Huh?” Dis turned to you, her dark hair shone with a sprinkle of grey but still lush as it hung down in perfect braids across her back, “Oh, Y/N, I told you, it’s supposed to look like that…though it could be a bit tighter.”
“Tighter?” You whined and set your hands on your already constricted waist, “I don’t—Oh!”
Before you could notice, the Dowager Princess had moved swiftly and come up behind you to yank on the laces of your corset. She knotted the ends firmly with a smile in the mirror and you withheld and agonized scowl.  You regretted letting her talk you into this and wished you had opted for your usual trousers and tunic ensemble. You knew that it would have been impossible though as Dis had insisted her brother’s coronation called for grandeur, even if it did bring you pain.
Even so, you had little desire to pull on the dress she had chosen for you or to attend the ridiculous banquet to follow. You were as happy as any that Thorin was to be crowned at last as King of the Mountain but you were not so sure it was worth such discomfort. You would have rather sent him your congratulations by messenger than to show yourself in a gown. Already, you could only imagine the japes which the sight would arouse in the princes.
You were so distracted by your worries that you barely spotted the blur of Dis in the mirror as she rushed into the next room. Fighting against the pressure in your rib cage, you tried futilely to stand naturally in the boned contraption. You would have to beg her too loosen it or you would never make it through the night. As it was, you could barely breathe simply standing still.
With a sigh that made you light-headed, you turned stiffly and lumbered into the bedroom. You were stopped short as Thorin stood by the door, his eyes finding you before you could retreat. He was dressed in all but his regalia which he would be adorned with at the ceremony. His black hair shone in the lamp light and his midnight blue overcoat enhanced his natural colouring. He looked every bit the king and you felt every bit the fool.
You blushed, resisting the urge to look down at your thin shift and taut corset. You crossed your arms to shield your chest, which was pushed up much more than was proper by the binding. Squirming under his gaze, you mustered your strength.
“Um, where’s Dis?” You asked in a thin voice, “I, uh…need to ask her something.”
“She’s gone to fetch me a pin,” He looked towards the bath chamber opposite the boudoir you had emerged from but his eyes were all too quickly back on you, “I see she has dragged you into her tedious preparations.”
“Um, yes,” You choked out and teetered on your toes nervously, “I’ll just go wait for her…in there,” You pointed over your shoulder, smiling awkwardly at the king before turning in a stunted manner.
“I’ll see you at the banquet,” He called to you as you scrambled for the door, “With bells on, I would expect.”
“Hmmp,” You grumbled and closed the door behind you, looking at your reflection. You were mortified as you took in your appearance, your figure contorted by the boning of the corset and your chest nearly overflowing from the top, the white skirt lacking decent opacity. Cringing, you swallowed your shame and huffed, waiting for Dis to return so that you could scold her for manipulating you into this whole affair.
Dis had forced you into a satin gown the colour of fragrant wisteria and had woven your braids into a chignon behind your head. It was a far cry from your usual attire and you felt like an entirely different person. The only compromise you had wrangled out of the stubborn Dowager was a pair of flat slippers over the heeled monstrosities she had first offered. Even so, you felt ludicrous as you followed the king’s sister through the corridors.
What was worse were the two Durin princes who walked behind you, twittering and giggling about your get-up. They had made a remark about you being a “dainty flower” and “blossomed lady” upon their first sight of you but a jab to the ribs had quieted them to a hush. The squabble had drawn their mother’s disapproving eye and she had chosen to admonish you over her crude sons.
For some unknown reason, she was expecting much of you on a night meant for her brother. You had assumed you would have been able to disappear into the crowd of dwarves, in your own clothing, and be left to a pint of dwarvish ale in peace. You would offer your blessings to the newly-crowned king and your night would be over. No dresses, no ridiculous preening, and surely no dancing. But, as it was, Dis seemed to have her own machinations for you.
“Ugh,” You tripped over the hem of your skirts as you neared the double doors of the great hall, Fili catching you before you could stumble further, “Oh. Thank you,” You straightened up and dusted off your bodice with your hands, trying to find a modicum of dignity, “I think forgoing the heeled slippers was a wise decision.”
“Oh, hush, Y/N,” Dis waved away your comment, “You wouldn’t have such difficulty if you would have worn the slippers beforehand as I had advised.”
“Give me my boots any day,” You grumbled and shot a sneer towards her giggling sons, “And these two! Are they going to be following me around like shadows all night?”
“They have their place,” She turned to them with hands on hips, “Go find Balin. The ceremony should begin soon.”
“Yes, mother,” The Durins grumbled in demure obedience and turned away, a troublesome gleam still in their eyes despite their mother’s severity. “Now, Y/N,” She looked back to you with the same piercing eyes, “You and I must do the same.”
You merely nodded as you saw her patience waning under the stress of the coronation. She had done much of the preparations for the affair and she never expected anything less than perfection. With a brusque wave, she ushered you forward into the swathes of chattering dwarrows and dwarrowdams, weaving decisively between bodies.
At the front of the throng, Dis pulled you to the left side just before the raised dais and looked you over as if appraising your value. You had seen a similar expression in her brother many times and it seemed the bloodline bred such imperious eyes. You shook your head at her with confusion and she merely smiled and tucked a strand of loose hair back behind your ear before adjusting her own braids.
The sound of a horn blasted across the forum, Gloin lowering the hollowed bone from his lips as all began to quiet and arranged themselves around the aisle cordoned off by velvet banners tied to silver poles. You stood at the front of the crowd with Dis, her place of honour as sister to the king, and you wondered why she had insisted at bringing you along with her. You would have rather been with Bofur and his brothers as they lounged near the back.
You were distracted as another horn sounded, along with several others, and the tune signaled the arrival of the king. Thorin stepped out with shoulders squared and head held high at the other end of the hall. You craned your neck with others to watch him progress down the centre aisle and the dwarves stood in rare reverence as the heir made the walk to reclaim the Mountain once and for all.
As Thorin neared the front, Dis took your hand and squeezed it gently. You looked to her warm smile but there was more to it than merely regalement. The same cryptic flicker which had lit her face for the last day remained and you could not guess at its reason. You could only return her smile and turn back to watch the king pass by. As he did, his blue eyes glanced over at you and his lips twitched in recognition, a twinkle of surprise before he refocused on his purpose.
You were embarrassed as you recalled your appearance and frowned, resisting the urge to grumble at Dis for her coercion. The king had never looked at you so peculiarly when you were in your tunic. Then, he had looked upon you as a warrior, as a capable ally in his quest to retake Erebor. Why must his sister ruin all that you had earned in sweat and blood all for some paltry celebration?
Withholding your discontent, you regained your joyous façade, though you were as proud as any to see the king crowned. You watched as Balin began his recitations in khuzdul and felt an airiness in your chest, your mission at last complete as Thorin was crowned King Under the Mountain. All the pain had been worth it, even that of the boned corset as it crushed your ribs.
You sat, stabbing your fork violently against the silver plate, moping as the princes sat on either side of you. It was just like Dis to seat you between the two most troublesome guests. She had claimed it to be due to your ability to keep them in line though you had never proven yourself capable of that. They had continually commented upon your ‘unusual’ appearance and you had responded with sharp elbows and restrained growls. You doubt you looked any part the lady with such a dark expression.
Dis kept sending you glances from down the table where she sat beside the new king, his other side flanked by Balin and his brother who looked just as miserable as you. With each curious peek, you sunk lower into your chair and tried not to snap at the twittering princes. Taking your goblet and gulping back the thick ale, you were nearly startled as the band took up a chirpy tune and bodies began to flood the floor for the first dance of the night. Resigned to hide in your chair, you emptied your cup and slammed it back on the table.
Fili and Kili looked to you in surprise as they stood, eager to be out on the floor before your wrath turned once more to them. You sensed movement further down the table as the brothers hurried away and Dis sent you a reproachful look before turning back to speak to Thorin. Lowering your brow with a sigh, you traced the embossed pattern along the side of the silver goblet. Time could not move fast enough.
With every second, you felt the corset growing tighter and your skirts heavier. Ale would aid in the passing of minutes but you knew should imbibe too excessively, you would get more than a look from Dis. The first song ended and you fidgeted in your seat, trying to get comfortable though you knew it to be an insurmountable task. You glanced over to see if Dis was watching but you found her seat empty and you noticed that you and Dwalin were the only two guests still seated.
Your realization was interrupted as you felt a tap on your shoulder from your other side and looked up to find Thorin staring down at you. He wore the same bemused expression as he had walking down the aisle and his eyes roved your figure with unveiled delight. You shook your head and pushed out your chair, rising to meet his challenging gaze.
“Please, Thorin, I’ve heard it all from your nephews,” You scolded, “So just get it over with. Have your laugh and leave me to my misery.”
“Laugh?” He wondered slyly, “Oh, nothing of the sort. I was actually going to espouse on how lovely you look tonight.”
“Don’t,” You warned with a sharp point, “You’re not much subtler than the rest of your kin. I know I look like a painted fool.”
“Not at all,” There was sincerity beneath his mirth, “Truly, I did wonder earlier how you would pull it all together,” He alluded to your previous encounter and you coloured at the recollection of your lack of clothing, “All this time, I’d never considered what lay beneath all that wool.”
“Enough,” You cleared your throat awkwardly, “That’s not very…proper.”
“Dis can dress you up any way she likes but don’t try to act like you’ve ever been proper,” He teased and his light-hearted manner bewildered you, “She has however made the same effort at my expense. This whole night she has spent lecturing me on my kingly duties.”
“You would think the crown better left to her,” You japed and looked out among the crowds to search for the Dowager but could not find her.
“Exactly my thoughts,” He grumbled and his voice hollowed slightly, “And she, uh, made one suggestion in particular.”
“Oh, which is? What more do you need but that crown?” You gestured to the circlet upon his brow.
“Well, I…” He hooked his thumbs under the silver wrought belt around his waist, “Uh, well,” He was suddenly stuttering as his eyes moved evasively, “She said I should join the festivities…and dance.”
“Dance?” You squinted at him suspiciously, “Well, I’m sure you could find a partner easy enough.”
“Do you really think I would suffer without you?” He countered, regaining his former boldness, “You’re the only partner I think worthy enough to share in such delights.”
“Oh, Mahal,” You pouted and looked around once more, finding Dis at last as she watched from the other side of the hall, “Well, I think if I refuse she may just come over and make me dance with her.”
“That is by far the greatest ‘yes’ I’ve ever gotten,” He taunted dryly, “If you would?”
Thorin offered his hand and you took it slowly, letting him guide you from behind the long table and to the dance floor. Those twirling and stepping around you lent little excitement to the prospect and the king turned back to you, awkwardly guiding your arms into position. Stiffly, you followed his lead as he began to move in time with the music and you realized he was a much more gifted dancer than yourself. Not that you were much of one at all.
“I forgot how good you are at this,” You cursed him, “And how terrible I am.”
“You’re not so bad,” He mused and grinned down at you, “You just need to relax…though I think the corset doesn’t allow for much of that.”
“Ugh, don’t I know it,” You wriggled awkwardly in another effort to loosen the boning, “I hate this thing.”
“I don’t much mind it,” He remarked, “Though,” He leaned in and lowered his voice to a whisper, “I preferred it without the dress.”
“Thorin,” You slapped his shoulder with your palm, “What has gotten into you?”
“I just…I’ve never seen you like this,” He smirked as he spoke and his cheeks turned rosy as he straightened up, “I mean…I always knew you were a dwarrowdam but…”
You were sure he was teasing you, that he was making a joke his nephews would chortle grandly at. You pulled away from him and scoffed, stomping your foot, though the slipper made the angry gesture comical. “Very funny,” You huffed and turned on your heel, storming away from the king as you shoved through the bodies around you.
Before you could reach the doors, a hand caught your arm and you were forced back around to face Thorin, all humour washed away from his features. His blue eyes looked down at you intently and his usual austerity had returned. He cleared his throat and glanced around at the crowds which filled the room, the other guests remaining oblivious to your tantrum.
“Y/N,” He released your arm as if remembering himself, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it as a joke…” He looked to his toes and then back at you, “Can we talk…somewhere else?”
“Why?” You sulked as you stepped back, “So you don’t have to worry about having an audience?”
“Truly, Y/N, I’m serious, I wasn’t making fun of you,” His lips slanted and his shoulders slumped slightly, “Please?”
“Fine,” You accepted skeptically, “You have five minutes.”
Thorin nodded and gestured for you to turn around as he led you through a side door along the back of the hall. Winding through corridors silently, you could feel the tension of his anxiety building and he finally led you through a single stone door which you easily recognized. He ushered you in with few words and closed the door of his solar gently. Lighting a single lantern among the dark, he turned back to you and swallowed nervously as he measured his next words.
“Y/N,” His voice quavered and you suddenly realized you had let your pride corrupt his meaning, “I’m sorry.” He reached up and removed the bejeweled crown from his dark hair, tossing it onto his ebony desk carelessly, “I wasn’t trying to embarrass you.”
“Thorin, I--” You inhaled and chewed your lip before continuing, “It’s fine, I was being stupid. I let my temper get the best of me. I appreciate you dancing with me and all that but…” You gestured to your attire, “This isn’t me.”
“I know it isn’t,” He stepped closer, “But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suit you,” His lips twitched, “Which is what I was trying to say. Among other things.”
“Other things?” You inquired with a raised brow.
“Well, yes, I mean, it shouldn’t have taken a corset and your bosom, ahem…” He caught himself and chuckled, “My apologies, but it’s a bit difficult not to notice. They are quite ample.”
“Three minutes, Thorin,” You warned, wishing you could pull the dress up over your cleavage.
“Sorry, sorry, my mind does wander,” He wiped the grin from his face, “What I was saying is it shouldn’t have taken all of Dis’ ridiculous efforts to make me admit how I feel…about you.”
“About me?” You echoed and tilted your head inquisitively.
“We’ve known each other a long time, we’ve fought together, traveled together,” He shrugged and exhaled tensely, “Well, I guess it was only inevitable that it happened.”
“You know I am terrible at riddles, Thorin,” You groused, “Please, just get to it.”
“Mahal, Y/N,” He exclaimed suddenly, “I’m trying to tell you that I love you! And that you look incredible in that stupid dress, even if you hate it.”
“What?” You uttered in shock, giggling despite yourself, “You what?”
Your giggles turned to guffaws and you clutched your corseted middle, unable to bend against the boning. The confession was somehow absurd even though it made your chest swell and your cheeks burns. You could not help but laugh and you looked up to find the king staring at you startled and speechless.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, Thorin,” You wheezed and calmed your laughter, “I am…I just…I never thought--” You hiccoughed again but caught yourself from further chuckles, “I’m swear I’m not laughing at you, it’s just…I--” You breathed out and righted yourself, “Sorry, I’m surprised, is all.”
“Surprised?” His features were lined with worry, “Y/N?”
“In a good way,” You assured, “But, truly, Thorin? Do you really think I was prepared to hear that? That you love me?”
“Well, I do,” He grumbled darkly, “You don’t have to feel the same--”
“Thorin, Thorin, please,” You set your hands on his chest calmingly, “I didn’t mean it like that.” You looked into his eyes, running your palms up the brocade of his overcoat to his shoulders, “I love you, too.”
“You…do?” He asked as if he was certain you were joking.
“Of course, I do,” You touched his cheek softly, “How could I not? You’re the only person who could put up with my horrid dancing.”
At last he smiled, his face brightening with relief before he laughed himself. His hands came up to rest upon your waist and he leaned in slowly. You tilted your head back and waited for him to kiss you, but he paused just before your lips, “Do you know how to get this thing off?” He asked with a smirk, alluding to the boning beneath his fingers.
“We can figure it out,” You lilted as you traced the line of his beard with your fingers, “I’m sure Dis wouldn’t mind a few broken laces.”
With that, you pressed your lips to his and he kissed you deeply as your breath caught against the constraint of the corset and the weight of Thorin’s embrace. As you melted against the warmth of his body, you swore that you would never again wear a dress, even if you had to fight Dis off with a stick.

Your fashion insider’s guide to packing the perfect holiday outfits
Words by Monikh Dale
A week away from the office and that 6am alarm is a total dream. The diet is on hold, the gym trainers are thrown to one side, and our faces are already brighter with the premonition of vitamin D, but then, all of a sudden that panic sets in.
We panic because most of the time we think we need a whole new holiday wardrobe, a wardrobe that screams palm trees and factor 50. And I was like that until all my money started to go on that lovely extra luggage charge. So, I quickly learnt that packing everything but the kitchen sink just wasn’t going to work.
I needed to learn not how to pack light, but cleverly. What was it that I was actually going to wear? What could I bring from last season and what did I need to buy? What I realised is that we actually need staples, and these staples are ones you can wear back home if chosen carefully. After a couple of trial and error trips, I ended up creating a 1-9 check list of classic pieces that would carry me through my entire holiday, so shop below, save that luggage money for the daiquiris.
1. The flat rope shoe
A cool flat shoe is key for holiday, and one like these beige rope sandals, is the current cool way to do it. They quickly calm down any outfit, as well as making the look a little rustic too, which is ideal for when walking along the white stoned streets of Mykonos.
Shop now: Fiesta Flat Rope Sandals for £30 from Topshop
2. The wedge
Be honest with yourself, do you actually wear heels in the evening on holiday? No you don’t. So don’t waste space. Pack a pair of wedges instead, they’ll give you that little sassiness you’re looking for, without losing that relaxed holiday vibe.
Shop now: CASTAÑER Carina canvas wedge espadrilles for £80 from Net-A-Porter
3. The swimsuit
A swimsuit is key. And a comfortable one is crucial. I took a Hunza G one on my last trip and it was the only thing I wanted to wear. I felt covered, yet a little sexy, but in a cool ‘I’m wearing a swimsuit’ kind of way.
Shop now: HUNZA G Seersucker swimsuit for £120 from Net-A-Porter
4. The day dress
You need to run to the store for a big bottle of water (we all know how expensive water is in hotels…), or you’ve decided to head into town for lunch – well you need the perfect day dress. Something that’s fuss free and light. For that I would look at Realisation Par. An LA brand that creates silk slips and wraps that will come out every Summer. I’ve had some of mine for a few years now, and I love them so much. I’ve worn them all over the world, to various occasions, just make sure you have your silicone nipple covers to hand for the family occasions. Also, Rixo is a huge contender, they have similar materials and their cuts are oh-so flattering!
Shop now: The Jeet dress for around £162 from Realisation Par
Shop now: RIXO LONDON Abigail floral-print silk-crepe wrap dress for £255 from Net-A-Porter
5. The everyday bag
A bag that is your airport bag, the bag for the beach, the bag for the boat, the bag for town. I love to pack bits just in case, so I need a bag that can carry it all, plus I don’t think I’m the only one who has my other half throwing the odd bit in too. Luckily, it’s all about the oversized basket bag this summer, and they don’t have to be expensive either. I have practically every size from Wood Grey, with their large being my holiday go to.
Shop now: Market bag for £26 from Wood/Grey
6. The evening bag
What to do for the evening when you love that relaxed basket bag look? Enter the Dragon, a brand of wax coated weaved bags, in all neutral colours. I shouted with joy when I came across the white bucket version last week.
Shop now: DRAGON DIFFUSION Cannage woven-leather bucket bag for £250 from MatchesFashion.com
7. The perfect co-ord
Be clever, take a killer set with you, one to be worn for that one special night. After that you can mix and match the top or shorts with other things to create more looks.
Shop now: INNIKA CHOO Floral-embroidered peplum linen top for £239 from MatchesFashion.com
Shop now: INNIKA CHOO Floral-embroidered bloomer shorts for £164 from MatchesFashion.com
8. The holiday accessory
You need a ‘look at me’ holiday accessory. That can either be a new necklace, hat, hair slide. Something’s that’s going to lift that Instagram picture and make it look a little more special. For me it’s all about shells at the moment, so pack as many as you can.
Shop now: Shell hoop earrings for £17.99 from Mango
9. The night dress
An evening dress that you can wear twice in one trip is basically what dreams are made of. I mean, to use your styling know-how to look completely different while saving on space, pat yourself on the back (one night with your wedges and evening bag, the other as a day to night look with your raffia flats, beach bag and every shell shaped jewel you can find).
Shop now: MARA HOFFMAN Mei lace-up organic hemp dress for £430 from Net-A-Porter
Obviously other pieces need to be added, a few basic bikinis, dresses, tops in between, but the above is critical. Also (minus the swimsuit), they’re all pieces you can wear once back from your dream trip, something that is music to our ears with this heatwave firmly in place for the next couple of weeks.

Corporate Styling Tips For Working Women By Style Coach : Divya Vishwanath
Corporate Styling Tips For Working Women
You can have anything you want if you dress for it.
-Edith Head.
Women of today- they rule almost every sphere of the corporate world.
Despite all the added challenges they had to face, they achieved success and power and what arose from this was a new age woman, the Working Women. Aware of her powers, her brilliance, and her abilities. As they moved forward into the corporate world, so did their wardrobe. The wardrobe of working women was a combination of success, restraint, rebellion, strength, fun and of course a little bit of drama. Women started to dress in clothes which made them feel powerful and invincible.
The question then arises, “Why so much stress on work wardrobe”? Well, why not! Here are some reasons I can think of:
If we dress well, we feel more confident and our body language portrays that. People we work with perceive us as more authoritative, competent and reliable. Nothing can match up to the feeling one gets when they know they are looking good. If you look good, you feel good and you work well. This automatically makes you feel powerful. Over time, you realize that you can control how you feel about yourself and this again is a great feeling to have. First impressions matter. We always associate a person with the first impression we have of them, the image that was stored in our minds within 5 seconds of meeting them, and that image lasts a lifetime. As someone truly said, “ There are no second chances to a first impression.” so make it a good one.
Without a doubt, the way we dress plays an important role in our work life. So make a little effort to learn about it, spend a little time to work on it and use this subconscious visual association to your advantage.
“Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say, more important offices than to merely keep us warm. They change our view of the world and the world’s view of us.”
– Virginia Woolf.
Now let’s talk about some do’s and don’ts for the wardrobe of a Working Women:
Always dress according to what’s appropriate for your workplace. If there is a dress code, FOLLOW it. Read a little about the dress code and apply it to your everyday dressing. It creates a positive impression of you. Clothes must always fit well. Too tight or too loose is distracting. Inappropriate clothes can give a wrong impression too. After all, you want to be remembered for what value you bring in and not what you wore. Right!
The perfume you wear has to be subtle and not strong. If you cannot figure out on your own which perfume to buy for work, ask the store lady for a mild one. She’ll guide you.
You need to wear appropriate shoes and they must be clean and in good condition. Heels look good, but it’s a personal choice. Go for wedge heels, kitten heels or even flats, as long as you are comfortable. But they need to go with what you are wearing and they need to be appropriate. You cannot wear bathroom slippers or open sandals to work, just because you find them comfortable.  Nor can you wear the shoes you will wear while you go out partying. Follow the dress code. But still get a little adventurous.
Personal hygiene is precious. Bad body odour, dirty hair, unkempt hands, and feet will not take you too far. Be well groomed.
Get regular manicures and pedicure, especially if you want to wear open shoes. The sight of chipped nail paint is not professional at all.
Keep your hair clean and neat. If you can’t manage the hairstyle you have without elaborate parlour work, you definitely need a change. Visit your hairstylist and tell her what your requirements are. Take tips from her on how to manage your hair easily. Never reach work with wet hair. It shows that you are not organized and lack time management.
Simple Tips To Keep You And Your Jewellery Glowing This Wedding Season
Pay attention to colour choices. Darker colours always give a stronger impression. Never wear colours that will blend in with the background. You want to stand out, not fade out.
Don’t get carried away with accessories. You cannot wear the same kind of jewellery to work, what you would wear to a pub or discotheque. And your jewellery definitely cannot make noise. Keep it striking, yet subtle.
Carry a bag that is neat and stylish and not something that has your stuff pouring out of it. You cannot carry a suitcase either while at work. If there is a lot of things you need with you, make a little storage space where you work. A bag has to look like the stylish accessory its meant to be, yet it should blend in with the professional image you want to project. So, no gym bags, plastic bags or shiny or embellished clutch to work.
Don’t overdo makeup. Smokey eyes are for parties. Wear the amount that would make your complexion look flawless and yet natural. Also use moisturizer always, for face, hands, feet, legs… It makes you look fresh and awake. As far as work makeup is concerned, LESS IS ALWAYS MORE.
Leggings/tights are not trousers. You cannot wear them to work !!
Come up with your own style, which works well for you. Nothing will ever compete with your own signature style. This might take a little bit of effort, but its worth it. Once you know your style, be consistent with it.
While dressing, don’t forget that you are a woman. Take pride in who you are.
You are strong, powerful, magnificent, smart, intelligent, efficient and beautiful. Believe in this. And the word will believe this too. Wear the right attitude.
Dressing right for work, once mastered, is an empowering and liberating experience. It’s an armor you wear to work every day and definitely spend two-thirds of the day in it. So, why not make your Working Women look stunning one!
“Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.”
– Lauren Hutton
Here are some looks I have created for you to help you with your work wardrobe.
We all have bad days when we are not feeling too good. It’s normal. For days like that, Wear something loose comfortable and hassle-free. This long flowing dress is perfect for such days. Worn with comfortable shoes and a little makeup, you are good to get through the day.
This slim fit dress is a staple, yet stands out of the cause of the color. The flower adds a bit of fun element
Bright pink linen top is paired with grey trousers and grey beads. The whole outfit looks bright and elegant. The fun element gets added with the matching pink peep toe heels and pink bag.
This white A-line skirt is worn with a knitted top and printed scarf. It will work for a formal Friday casual dressing too. For an extra formal look, add a jacket.
This bright yellow chiffon top is paired with white cotton trousers. The accessories are minimal as yellow is really striking on its own. Never contrast yellow with any other strong color, it can become too overpowering. In this case, since the top has small blue dots, it can be worn with blue trousers too.. Beige goes well with all colors.
Black is a staple in all our wardrobes but a bit of color adds more dimension and interest. Here the black dress is paired with an orange jacket and orange bag. I have worn black stilettos, but feel free to wear wedge heels, kitten heels, peep toes or flats in matching the colour. A bright color jacket works really well when paired with solid color dresses.
This warp dress will never let you down. It suits almost any body type. What makes it more interesting is the patterns on it. Here they are worn with red jewelry, red heels and paired with a red bag. Try any other combination and it will look good.
This round neck, frilled top in flowing material doesn’t bulk up and can be paired beautifully with almost anything. Here this top is worn with a black straight skirt and a green bag adds a pop of colour. Wear it with pants or flared skirts or with jeans on a casual Friday, and it looks stunning.
Why not make a casual Friday fun. Printed brown dress, paired with a light green woven silk scarf and brown bag.
Nothing screams out power and success more than this outfit. Black embroidered silk skirt is worn with black top and suede jacket and printed scarf. This is paired with high heels.
Sarees look really elegant, as long as you can manage to drape it well and keep it well draped throughout the day. Wear saree with a little heel (adds grace) and no hanging and chunky jewellery with it. Keep it all minimal and noise free. In a saree, you would definitely leave an impact on anyone. Its probably the most powerful attire I have seen. Salwaar- kameez is very comfortable too. Wear well-fitted ones.
Any of these outfits can be altered according to the weather. Use a colourful knitted scarf or warm well-fitted jacket or both. Just don’t add too many colours, we don’t want you looking like a fruit basket. For a professional woman, style is her expression of confidence, power, and success. Finding your style and following it will give you a definite winning edge in this ever so competitive world. With our world getting so visual, with technology developing almost every hour, the visual impact has gained immense importance.
So all you gorgeous ladies, its time to let your visual voice speak and make sure it gets heard loud and clear. Get out of your comfort zone where work dressing is concerned; don’t clone but find your true style and you will shine even more.
