sorry im emotonal and going off of the other asks sent about machete and just i need to stress how beautiful it is to me that machete sees himself so undeserving of love and affection and feeling as if vasco's too good for him but despite all that he is so incredibly devoted to vasco and loving towards him (in his own way) but is so incredibly clear to anyone with eyes that just how in love he is with vasco. like it's not done out of a "oh god please never realize that you're too good for me here here let me overdo it with the affection" its done with the "i love you, and will always love you, no matter what happens to us or separates us, and i will give it to you as long as i am able, and if you ever leave, i won't be okay, but will still love you, and want you happy". like he doesn't use his own feelings of being undeserving taint his love or the way he loves for vasco, and it's so, so beautiful

Various Slashers as Yandere Archetypes 
WARNINGS: yandere content 
Another non-requested piece. I actually found myself terribly interested in the concept after my last post musing on the topic (found here), though I’d like to restate that I don’t believe I’ll be writing more on the matter, unless a commission. 
Will firmly reiterate last time’s warning, it’s very important to recognize this characterization as unhealthy and to never enable such behavior in any real relationships. 
Will be sorting each slasher into seven classes, including Isolating, Manipulative, Dependent, Possessive, Obsessive, Delusional, and Lucid
The definitions vary greatly depending on the Slasher, while some may not fit an archetype listed, or could be a hybrid of any number of them. It’s also very possible for them to fit multiple subcategories. 
For reference, a general key would be
Isolating - (Usually gradually) cuts off s/o from their friends and family, secluding them and asserting themselves as their only social contact. Goal is perhaps to make s/o reliant on them.
Manipulative - Fairly straightforward, though the means of manipulation vary. Often emotionally controlling. Might resort to guilting the s/o or self-destructive tendencies to get them to stay. Goal is to assert control over s/o.
Dependent - Depends on s/o for stability or comfort. Might suffer from separation anxiety and as such is terribly clingy. Often ignores other social ties to focus on their s/o. No implicit goal, but usually wishes for reciprocation of feelings.
Possessive - Similar to Manipulative and often a package deal. Would under no circumstances share their s/o, likely frets over losing them (perhaps to romantic rivals or even misguidedly anyone they falsely deem a threat). Goal is to assert control over s/o. 
Obsessive - Not necessarily Possessive, though the two sometimes come together. An Obsessive might not outwardly act on their fixation, but silently pines intensely for their s/o. Fixates heavily on their s/o. Goal is to become closer to the person of interest, or wishes for reciprocation of feelings.
Delusional - Hard opposite of Lucid. They likely wrongly believe their feelings are reciprocated, believe them and their s/o are meant to be, or that their s/o is in denial of their feelings and it’s up to them to help them realize this. No implicit goal, but usually wishes for reciprocation of feelings.
Lucid - Hard opposite of Delusional. Well aware that their feelings are unhealthy and destructive, but usually represses these thoughts or simply doesn’t care. Might feel guilt, but it’s often overshadowed by longing. May have any of the formerly listed goals.
BILLY LENZ
Dependent, Possessive
He is a complex case. His lucidity comes in brief episodes, then wanes to stubborn delusion. Generally, though, he’s dependent on you for a sense of stability. When you leave, he throws somewhat of a tantrum, absolutely trashes the place, tears the wallpaper, knocks shit over, then curls up in a corner, stewing in a vicious, wordless rage. On the rare occasions, afflicted by guilt, he’ll silently clean it up, intensely avoiding your gaze all the while. Most of the time, though, you’re left to deal with the damage of his uncertain temper. He feels like you’re abandoning him, even if you fully have the intent to return; when you do come through the door he launches into your arms, all rushed kisses and crushing hugs. Inevitably, though, the cycle will repeat once more, gradually wearing you thin and thinner. Like a sweater heavily loved. But this love is intense and merciless. 
CARRIE WHITE
Dependent, Delusional
Carrie is very much wary coming into this relationship. She’s so baffled by affection, true and honest affection, no underlying teasing, no stifled giggles, that she nearly breaks down. It takes much adjusting, but soon, she’s hooked. She becomes dependent on your praise and approval to function routinely. Anything you dislike she does as well. You’re always so right, she thinks, so puzzlingly perfect. She idolizes you to the point she blocks out any of your flaws (which come with being human), entirely eliminating the possibility from her mind. She’s willing to overlook any fault, anyway, but she’s dazed by the spectacle of genuine love. Every moment you’re away is a unique, awful pain, singed with worry (you’re leaving, you found someone better), and though in those moments she thinks there’s no possible greater agony, the bliss of your presence keeps her around. She doesn’t care for anyone else—they never cared for her, and it’s not like their compassion would compare, either way. She decides you’re all she needs.
JASON VOORHEES
Obsessive, Isolating
First confronting his feelings, he disregards it casually, assuming it’d be easy to ignore. He busies himself with work, but finds this fixation occupying his thoughts in increasingly frequent intervals. He knows something needs to be done when it starts directly interfering with his chores, leading to sloppy work and far too many victims fleeing. The easy answer is to off you. He hunts you down with that intent, well ready to finally rid of this distraction. But he can’t. Stands there with a hellish anxiety wracking his chest, a feeling only distantly familiar, recalling the days when his heart did beat. He’s so intensely, frustratingly obsessed with you—it upsets him even, confuses him tremendously. All he knows for certain is that he wouldn’t be able to stand you with someone else; doesn’t care if he’s not that someone, as long as it’s not anybody else. From then on, it’s a very last minute change of plans; keep you alive, isolate you, make you dependent on him. He’s not the type to force affection on you, but rather, would purposefully withdraw it for extended periods of time, until you seek it of your own will, in which case he will reward you with the desired attention. 
BRAHMS HEELSHIRE
Possessive, Manipulative 
Like Billy, has a fragile temper that can be quite a minefield to traverse. You can never be sure what will upset him, but when it does he makes sure it’s known. Could additionally be classified as isolating, as he will immediately confine you to the manor. Leaving is far out of the question, though later on he might permit you to extend this bit of freedom to the expanse of garden surrounding the mansion (he will, however, keep you far from the gates). He makes himself out to be entirely helpless without your guidance and care, though that must be wrong, being how he’s had only himself for much of his time living in the space between the walls. It gets you to stay, and that’s what matters in the moment. But eventually, the need to escape his suffocating presence vastly exceeds your will to stay. When that time comes, an effectively inevitable outcome, Brahms had realized in the back of his head, he’ll turn to violence, first in tantrums then in threats directed to both yourself and him. Isn’t beyond killing you if he’s convinced you’re set on leaving and there’s nothing he can do.
BUBBA SAWYER
Dependent, Possessive
Partly delusional, but knows you’re unwilling. Still, relies on you for a feeling of normalcy, that distant echo of a real, functional relationship. Couldn’t bear the thought of you with anyone else, so much he might resort to threats of violence to coerce you into staying. Whether these are empty or significant falls on you to figure out. Liable to tantrums when you’re away, though the severity of these outbursts is determined by his current stability. He considers you part of the family, though at the end of the day, Drayton gets the final say on your status of life. He’ll plead desperately and with genuine distress, but it doesn’t take much pushing for him to cave in on himself; he’s far more scared to disobey the family. If he’s to kill you, he’ll go about it sweetly, clumsy, unfamiliar kisses as he smooths your hair down, trying uselessly to calm you. Your struggling and crying only troubles him, and he might hurry up the process just to quiet that awful commotion. If Drayton allowed, though, he’d keep you as a sort of pet; you’re to stay in his room or at his side and never stray. You’re given a seat at the dinner table as long as you pull your weight and pitch in (albeit unwillingly) with household chores. 
AMANDA YOUNG / THE PIG
Lucid, Manipulative 
Fairly coherent regarding her emotions, though this regulation never translates into her actions, which are twisted by impulse and anxieties. Unintentionally incredibly manipulative, will very quickly turn to self-destructive exploits to gain your sympathy and convince you to stay. Eventually, she stops caring if you’re only sticking around out of a feeling of necessity. If you ever show intent to leave, though, she’d panic. Amanda can’t conceive a life without you now that she’s met you, and though she despises how dependent she’s become on you for stability, she can’t will herself to try and improve. Your attention is a new, frightening addiction; the highs come with affection and compassion, but then withdrawal in the periods you’re away. These acts of love have to be greater and greater than the last to recreate that same rush of intoxication. She’d allow you the illusion of freedom, reminding you often you can leave if you wanted (it’s all a ploy for sympathy), but makes a show of how pathetic she is without you. She can barely function, and though she hates this vulnerability, her balance of mind being dependent on another person, she’s trapped herself in an unforgiving sequence of self-destructive desperation and a murderous temper.

[Fic] Second Declension

Jim tries to prove he's not a philistine, for the noble purpose of getting in Humphrey's pants. [1704 words]
(With apologies to anyone who actually speaks Latin, because I do not!)
It was late on a Wednesday, and Jim Hacker had just made the dreadful mistake of misusing a Latin idiom. At least, he thought it was an idiom.
Bernard's eyes lit up, as they always did when an opportunity to talk about linguistics presented itself, and indeed, often when it didn't.
"Ah, actually Prime Minister, I believe you meant to say a posteriori evidence, not a priori. You see, a priori evidence relies on axiomatic truths - it is of course a latin phrase, meaning 'from the earlier', while a posteriori, which in Latin means "from the later", describes evidence derived from empirical evidence. Now, in Latin, this..." the young man barely seemed to take a breath, and Jim decided he ought to cut in to stop him from suffocating.
"Alright! Alright. Yes, thank you Bernard, very informative. Now, moving on, the matter of the-" he stopped himself. "Actually, Bernard..."
"Yes, Prime Minister?
"You know, I've been thinking. I really ought to- Well, I would like to- ...could you teach me some Latin?"
"Ah. Why, certainly, Prime Minister!" A slightly cheeky expression crossed Bernard's face. "Never too late to begin one's educat- Er. Sorry... What did you have in mind?"
"Have in mind?"
"Well, er, what did you plan to use it for?"
"Use it for! Right, of course."
A series of concerned expressions played across Jim's face as he considered the question. In truth, he was planning to use it to seduce Bernard's boss, but he couldn't very well say that. Really, this was Humphrey's fault for being so bloody difficult.
For the last few weeks, he and the Cabinet Secretary had been involved in some sort of romantic entanglement. Probably. At least, Jim was fairly confident. They had kissed (briefly) and had sex (somewhat less briefly) and done all manner of things which would imply the presence of a romantic relationship, but apparently not confirm it. Perhaps it was really only sex, just a relief of tension, but that thought didn't sit right with Jim. There was something so delicate and vulnerable about the way Humphrey laid his head on Jim's shoulder, pressing their bodies together in that perfect moment between climax and his almost immediate pivot into a lecture about commercial zoning laws.
Since then, Jim had been trying to charm him into opening up. His usual tactics (dreadful pickup lines and a winning smile) had failed, but perhaps Humphrey needed something a little more intellectual. Thus, Jim had formulated a plan to take him out to dinner and dazzle him with wit... or at least, something smutty that also proved he could, in fact, speak Latin at a third grade level.
"Er... Prime Minister?"
"I'm sorry, what was the question? Ah- right, yes, well. I was just curious. That's all. And the leader of the country ought to know these things."
"Well then, I would be glad to indulge your curiosity! Shall we start with basic grammar?"
"Right, yes, grammar. That shouldn't be so bad."
"Now, as I'm sure you recall, Latin is a highly inflected language. This allows for a more flexible sentence structure, but also requires that words be modified according to various factors, such as their case - that is, their function in a sentence. Now, there are six cases in Latin, which are: the Nominative - the subject, the Genitive - possessive, or to express an object that is "of" something, the Dative - the indirect object, the Accusative - the direct object, the Ablative-"  "Prime Minister? Is everything alright?"
Jim narrowed his eyes.
"Bernard... do you think you could give me a sort of... executive summary of all that, perhaps?"
"Ah, well, I think it all boils down to Latin being a highly inflected language, which allows for a more flexible sentence structure, but also requires that words be modified according to various factors, such as..."
"Yes, I see." Jim said, in his most scholarly tone of voice. "Right."
"Erm, Prime Minister, if I may be so bold as to ask. This wouldn't have anything to do with Sir Humphrey, would it?"
"Humphrey?!" Jim's eyes went wide in panic. Was Bernard wise to his scheme? How could he have figured out- "Oh, because of our little tiff over Latin in schools! No, no, no. Well, Bernard, if you must know, it's my wife's anniversary - er, our anniversary - next weekend, and, well, I thought she might find it charming if I were to... In another language, that is."
"Oh... Oh! In that case, you have nothing to worry about. Your anniversary isn't for another eight months."
"It is? Wait, how do you know that?"
"Well, I marked it in your diary. You do remember a few years back, when we had you double booked - or triple booked, in fact, and, well, I thought it was better we didn't repeat that disaster."
"Yes, yes, alright. I can see what you mean."
"But if you did want to learn how to say something, erm, romantic."
"Yes?"
Jim took out a little notebook and started scratching at it in shorthand.
"And, erm, Bernard, how would you say..." Jim wasn't quite sure he could say it out loud, so he made an obscene gesture with his hands, which on mature reflection was certainly far worse.
"Oh! Oh, my. I think Sir H-Mrs. Hacker"
"Mrs. Hacker." Jim corrected sternly.
"Yes, well, she would be. Um. Well, it's rather a complicated question - you see, in Latin, and indeed Greek, when proposing sexual acts, one's choice of word often depends on the gender of the parties involved and on whether the speaker is in the, erm, active or passive role. Even this component is not entirely cut and dry, as these acts are, on a grammatical level, handled quite differently to their english-language counterparts. Irrumare, which is a passive verb in English - that is to receive fellatio, is in fact an active verb in Latin - something which one actively does. Of course, one would typically use some degree of innuendo while discussing such topics, and Latin has a wide array of interesting options, which, as in most languages, evolved over time such that ordinarily innocent words acquired sexual connotations. As a rather amusing anecdote, officium, which can be loosely translated as "duty" or "service", though it also refers to "office" - that is, a political office - gained the connotation of pathic behavior - which means that the latin term for permanent undersecretary - princeps officii - sounds rather like-"
"Yes, thank you Bernard! That will be all!" Jim said, still reeling from the apparent depth and breadth of Bernard's sexual vocabulary. "Erm... Do you have a dictionary I can borrow? I think I shall figure the rest of it out on my own."
"Oh, of course." he said, pulling out a gigantic tome that looked old enough to have been penned by a native speaker.
Jim sighed, and got to work.

It was easy enough to get the Cabinet Secretary to dinner. He loved a good meal at an expensive restaurant, especially when someone else was paying. Plus, they had plenty of work matters to discuss, and that was before they even began to address their impossible-to-define pseudo-romance nonsense. Humphrey's true intentions were hard to read even without bringing something as perplexing as romance into the mixture, so it was little wonder that Jim never knew whether he was coming or going. He rather hoped tonight it would be the former.
This evening, Humphrey was dressed in a very sharp three-piece ensemble with a purple tie and matching pocket square and his hair coiffed just so. He looked terribly handsome, and Jim briefly entertained the thought that perhaps Humphrey had dressed up for his sake. He smiled at the idea, even though it probably wasn't true.
Owing to the possibility of official secrets being discussed, and simply to their stature, they were seated in a closed off area of the restaurant, out of sight and earshot of the other patrons. Discretion was still of the utmost importance, but even if it weren't, Humphrey would still have gone on about the most mundane of topics for the first hour or so. It was always an heroic effort to get him onto casual conversation.
By the time they polished off the main course, Humphrey's posture had relaxed ever so slightly, and Jim - who was by this point a couple of drinkies in - seized his chance.
Humphrey's eyes went wide, and for a moment, he was speechless.
"I... Good Lord... Latin?" he stammered out, a sweet little flush colouring his cheeks. A curl of his hair seemed to jump out of place of its own volition. Mission accomplished!
"Yes it is!" he giggled. "Bet you didn't expect that!"
"No, I certainly did not... And neither would the Romans. his voice dropped almost to a whisper, "Make would go...." his voice dropped almost to a whisper "insert?" Is that supposed to be something vulgar?"
"O... oh, dear. I must have gotten my declensions mixed up. I thought I had it down. Where are my notes?"
"Notes?!"
"Well, you see, it was my first time learning a language, and the... In English, it was supposed to be- ah, I'll tell you later. Here comes dessert."
Humphrey found a sudden fascination with his pastry, while Jim was left to stew in silence.
Finally, Humphrey looked up.
"Right, well. We'll not be having any more of that nonsense, Prime Minister."
"No, no... Of course not. I apologize."
"As you should. A most dreadful butchery of the language. Besides. I think a more appropriate phrase would be..."
Humphrey said something in Latin, and Jim nodded sagely in the hopes that it would look like he understood it.
"And, of course, in English, that would be..."
Humphrey glanced furtively to his left and right, then leaned in, close enough that his lips were almost touching Jim's neck. Then, he whispered something quite unexpected.
"Oh, my, Humphrey!" Jim said, far louder than he intended, then quickly silenced himself. "With... with me?" he mouthed, "Tonight?"
Humphrey seemed to drink in the sight of Jim floundering, a predatory light gleaming in his dark brown eyes. He smiled, in an infuriatingly self-satisfied manner, which was unfortunately also very attractive.
"Ita vero, Prime Minister."

Notes:
Clearly I don’t speak Latin, so any jokes at Jim’s expense are also at my own. That said, I did a lot of googling for this, and so, some fun facts: it turns out there isn’t a word for “yes” (or no) in Latin, though “Ita vero” (closer to “indeed” or “certainly”) is commonly used. Humphrey’s classic “yes and no” answer would probably be translated as “Sic et non” ([it is] thus and [it is] not). At least... I think so. If anyone reads this, please do send me corrections!
Regarding Bernard’s speech about smutty Latin: ever since his fabulous “Oh, could we! [subsidize sex]” line, I’ve headcanoned him as a bit of a quiet achiever in that department. He knows exactly what his bosses are up to, and could probably save them months of romantic angst and mutual pining with a couple of off the cuff remarks. The officium/officii/officiosi thing relies on my incredibly shaky understanding of grammar, and from this passage I found in a book from the 80s about smutty latin slang:

Unripe Expression - High school romance and friendship done well

Jaewon and his boys - my favorite harem yet
I’m not much of a manga reader, if you don’t count BLs that is. BL manga is one of the very few things that can pull me out of boredom, and I consume on average one volume a day. Korean webtoons are definitely a part of this comic devotion of mine. They are almost always easy to consume (not something I can say for manga) and the format lends itself to binging extremely well. Many a night, starting a new 80+ chapter webtoon has been a grave mistake for me, as I end up welcoming the sun with whatever couple I’m on a journey with at the time. Another feature of most BL webtoons is that somehow their drama never suffocates me, no matter the seriousness. Albeit a huge generalization, even when they make me cry rivers, they never feel quite so pessimistic as their Japanese counterparts. I always know what sort of an emotional reaction I’ll get out of them - which is not a bad thing if you are reading romance as a enjoyable pastime.
Unripe Expression, while seemingly just another one of the cute high school romances with some light drama, changed my mind as it built towards something subtly different. Throughout the majority of the story, I had two main feelings: that the story was ordinary but very involving, and that the main cast was individually superb characters. They were well-written and had lives and feelings of their own, and they were all extremely sympathetic even after they made mistakes. At the end, my feelings on the boys remained strong, but another thought struck me. The story was their desires, interactions, overall relationships, and characterization otherwise. The romantic pursuits and the friendships that Aga showed us were nuanced and alive, and I love each and every one of them.
Jaewon, the MC, is a sweet guy and first and foremost I wanted his choice to be realized, and this was in spite of Junseo being my best boy. While Jaewon had agency in the narrative, and he had a choice from the very beginning, the romantic plot never revealed what it had in store for us at the end. This is a 70 chapter comic, and I only knew who the lucky guy was in the last 2-3 chapters, a truly unpredictable gem. This can rattle a lot of people, and perhaps, if I hadn’t been convinced by the relationships of Jaewon and the boys, I’d have felt the same. Looking up some reviews after I finished the story, I found that not a lot of people were happy about the ending, so this might not be one of the stories you choose to read when you are in the mood for wish fulfillment. Speaking for myself, it fulfilled my wishes in terms of great relationship development on all counts, so even if I felt sad for the unlucky ones, I was completely satisfied with the way this particular story turned out. I bought every one of their plotlines, and that none of them were tools for fanservice to the audience. I was reading the real lives of a bunch of good high school boys, and what I wanted for them was not really their concern. Aga certainly has the qualities of a writer that I respect passionately. They seem to be writing for art and not the reader. Having said that, I’m still a weak human, so I’d love to see a continuation story for the other boys who couldn’t get Jaewon. [Big spoilers past this point until marked otherwise.]

Is it gonna be him or him or him? An embarrassment of riches...
First and foremost of those boys is of course Junseo, the reason for the public outcry in reviews. Junseo is the most well-built character and it is perfectly natural to be on his side as he helps Jaewon through his identity crisis and romantic troubles chasing Karam. He is sweet, loyal, a great friend, and as we witness him support his friend wholeheartedly, he falls in love with him in the process. The fact that he had already had a very intense relationship before high school and was broken hearted over it adds to our deep sympathy for him. His own transition from friend to boy in love is believable, and the story helps us support him in his quest through the first half of it - until we start getting a bit more into how Karam sees Jaewon (well at least me!)
My journey in what I want for Jaewon was quite shaky. In fact I’d say I’d have probably felt okay with whoever he ended up with. However, my top choice changed throughout the story; first Karam, then Junseo, and Karam again. I never stopped loving Junseo the best and feeling for him, but as mentioned, I wanted Jaewon to have who he wanted. We knew Karam was slightly interested in him from the beginning but the nature of that was not entirely clear. As we got further away from understanding him, my heart was turning towards Junseo and giving him what he wanted. However, Aga eventually turned the story back to Karam, with a new tool in the game - Jaewon’s first love Yoonsung. Yoonsung didn’t only trigger Karam to understand his own feelings better, he also showed us that Jaewon’s feelings were fully mutual. Karam can come across as the least developed of the group, and he is certainly the “less exciting” choice, but his own struggles with his feelings were gripping. Despite feeling that Jaewon was special, and despite being confessed to, he turned down Jaewon and still wanted to stay with him. This trope of being scared to lose a friend can come across as ordinary, but in this case the execution was superb. Karam wasn’t actually scared, and without respite, he kept sticking to Jaewon and flirting with him and doing everything in his power to stay in his heart. He didn’t want to lose Jaewon’s love for him to Yoonsung. The inherent selfishness of this is also inherently titillating to me - as long as Jaewon was only looking at him, he didn’t want to bother with the troubles that come with romance. Thankfully, Yoonsung came across as a very open threat to his possessive love. Little did he know, the real possible competition was Jaewon’s best friend Junseo.
Yoonsung himself comes across as the easy boy, the playboy who is playing games, and why would we ever root for him? The truth is we’ve read plenty of BL where the childhood love of the hero returns and has had a transformation of his own and gains the heart of his love again. Yoonsung is a charming boy, and from his perspective, the story is a sad one. The boy he’s loved all his life doesn’t pick him, and he doesn’t even make it simple. Jaewon’s protests against Yoonsung’s advances are flimsy at best. In the space of a few days, he gives hope to all three boys with his actions. Karam has already been confessed to, Yoonsung is allowed physical closeness, and Junseo emotional closeness. Jaewon’s relationships with each of them make these interactions believable and not-unlikeable. They are all a part of the natural flow, and in the end, as a boy who has been turned down, his confusion is natural. I find the final choice of Karam incredibly realistic, as he’s never stopped loving him. And luckily for Karam, he wasn’t too late to fix what he had almost undone. Unlucky for Junseo of course, because given enough time, I have no doubt that he could have made Jaewon forget about Karam’s rejection. Just the timing wasn’t right. Poor Yoonsung, on the other hand, was entirely too late. His time had been almost ten years ago. His unintentional rejection of Jaewon as a well-meaning child was the final chance he was ever going to get.

Jaewon is the wholesomest slut in the world of BL
Another entirely doki doki element of the webtoon is that throughout the story no one ever finds out how close Jaewon and Junseo were. It was their own world, making their friendship particularly special - and make no mistake, it was a friendship, of the best kind. A huge strength of this webtoon was that despite most of the boys being in love with Jaewon, it wasn’t only about romance. It was very much about friendship, friendship of people who might have romantic connections as well. Whilst in many romance stories, friendship can be neglected, it is even rarer to see lovers or love interests portrayed properly as a friend. The perfection of how Junseo was equally in love and a loyal friend is one of the biggest draws here. Of course, we don’t only have Junseo as a friend but also Jaehee, who was the only straight boy in the crowd, Jaewon’s other best friend. Jaehee had a smaller role compared to the others, however, from his initial reaction to how he got himself forgiven and how he silently watched over his friend without wanting to make him uncomfortable, he had a subtle and sweet character development of his own. He was the less complicated friend-the one who was always there, unlike Junseo who had to leave at the end. And that choice was probably the one that made me the saddest. It was clear to me that Jaewon wasn’t only a crush for Junseo, so seeing him throw away his friendship was particularly sad. Jaewon respected his choice in the end, as he had briefly been there with Karam and didn’t appreciate the situation he was put in (once again showing that Karam is not such a goodie two-shoes.) In the end, this made the ending particularly bittersweet - not only because best boy Junseo didn’t get the boy but also because they had lost their best friends in each other as well. If we ever get a sequel, I would love to see Junseo get a boyfriend of his own, and back to being friends with Jaewon - and close friends at that! If I had to complain about anything at all, it would be that friendship does come behind romance as the main theme, and this means that once the romantic plotline ends, we don’t get to see any “side stories” to see where they all end up. Given how important friendship is to the rest of the story, it would have been more fulfilling to have one for the road.

In the end, Unripe Expression was a great success - telling a heartfelt story of love and friendship of five sweet boys, all of whom you could route for, for their own happiness. Harem is a particularly difficult structure to realistically execute and Aga did it perfectly here. None of the characters’ interest in the main character felt forced and I never found myself thinking, oh my god, why does everyone like this one boy! Even if the last choice may be controversial to some, Unripe Expression tells the story of Jaewon’s romantic escapades in a heartfelt and well-constructed fashion. Hopefully, you’ll give this beautiful (and extremely bingeable) webtoon a shot and Aga will one day grace us with more of their imagination and more of these boys’ friendships.

L   :   LOVE.   who does your muse love?
Shizuka has a lot of love for their son, their sister, and the few fellow outsiders they allow into their inner circle. She would do anything for Akira and Rieko especially. They also adore their cat Aniki, known as Buta before their son started talking and decided on what the overgrown beast was to be called. Deep down, in some secretive part of themself, they do feel love for their former patron, though they do not know how to define it.
Aria has love for her community and people above all, but her big heart has so much room in it. She loves her true companions, loves the outsider, the downtrodden, those who she can champion. Beyond that, she has not exactly received steady romantic love – Tamlen, Sten, Anders, hers is a sorry little string of affections unrequited, never acted upon, or broken up by reasons beyond their control.
Kokoro is far more reserved by contrast. She loves her daughter, of course, more than anything. Blood means nothing when it comes to her relationship with Mads. Then we get to debates about verse – in her secondary verse, she has a complicated love for her father and his oldest students, stunted by her adolescent problems that made her put up walls. She loves your Xemnas, of course, without hesitation, though she demands a fair bit of him.
Y   :   YOURS.   does your muse get protective easily?
Shizuka is fiercely protective of what they consider hers. You can see this even in their introduction, how readily they went to bat for the owner of the club they worked. Now, they’re most readily compromised morally by the need to defend those they are close to, which is dangerous when you recognize the kind of people they keep company with.
Aria has always been the protective sort, defending her childhood friends from consequences or danger. This has endured throughout her life, to the point that even the sight of a clearly non-threatening Isolde saw Aria put herself between the hysterical woman and Alistair. When Anders fled Amaranthine, Aria did all in her power to stall or mislead the Templars that hunted him. She is the kind that protects others even if it puts her in some danger.
Kokoro has lost a lot in her time traveling worlds. She will defend first and ask questions later where her loved ones are concerned. Especially in romantic relationships, she tends to put herself in the line of fire to spare whoever has her heart. I think this is best seen in the Kokoro/Terra verse where, after all is said and done, she tries to take on his responsibilities to protect him from a brewing breakdown that is sure to be exacerbated by the task her father handed down to him as a parting shot. If she can keep even one person she loves from some pain, she will take it as her own without complaint.
H   :   HEART.   is your muse quick or slow to give their heart away?
All of them are demisexual, Shizuka to the point of questioning if they might be aromantic prior to getting a handle on their untrusting nature. Shizuka doesn’t trust others with their whole, so they keep their heart locked tight in their chest. Aria has had her heart broken one too many a time – by Tamlen, by unreturned affection, by Anders – to let it wander away from her again. And Kokoro is still carrying the weight of a childhood spent emotionally distant from others, and struggles with the idea of letting herself love another wholly.
E   :   EMBRACE.   does your muse like hugs? what are their hugs like?
Shizuka is not the touchy feely type. Their hugs are fine, but unless Akira needs some stim pressure or their kid sister is in town, they tend to try and get it over with as quickly as possible. That said, if you hug them first then their touch starved ass will tense and then melt with relief.
Aria likes hugs! Provided someone is allowed to touch her, she will give them the biggest, strongest bear hugs. What good is all her training as an archer if she cannot use her massive arm muscles to dispense the finest of embraces? It would be a sin to allow the gifts the gods granted her to atrophy!
Kokoro is not much of a hugger. She has the Blue Blood standard of just offering a clasped shoulder or a ruffle of hair. When someone needs real comfort or a hug, however, she tends to put maximum effort into it, to the point it can be hard to tell who is clinging to who.

R   :   ROMANCE.   is your muse a romantic or a cynic?
Shizuka is an absolute cynic. All they’ve ever seen of romantic love is settling, boredom, or an absolute shitshow. Sadly, past relationships have set them firmly in the camp that anything they get into will fall into the latter category, and they refuse to settle or live a classical life that they spent so long running from. They want someone to understand them, but even when they find that they spend all their time nitpicking and being sure that it’s only skin deep.
Aria is not much of a romantic in more of the classical sense, but in a relationship she proves to be quite the amorous partner. She wants the world to be better, for people to be better to each other, and that starts with her. This is the kind of person that love stories will be written about after they are gone, for all they do for the person who captures their heart.  Ask me about that Arianders thread I had just before the Chantrypalooza, our realistic Hero is a true blue romantic at heart.
Kokoro is... somewhere between the poles. She has no time for romance throughout canon events, too busy keeping to a goal she was forced to sideline for the last ten years due to lack of leads. That does not stop, in some verses, romance finding her. In our Xemnas/Kokoro verse especially, it hits both of them like a freight train. But even then, we see Kokoro prioritize Xemnas becoming better, gaining freedom, over possessing him as a lover, and she always pursues her own goals without sacrificing anything to him. She’s romantic when there is a good place and time for it. Otherwise, she knows her priorities.
T   :   TRUE LOVE.   does your muse believe in true love?
Shizuka mocks the very notion. Not even to be cruel or because they’re a cynic, but because they know what goes into maintaining a relationship. Love is a lot of work, and understanding, and it’s not always pretty. But it’s something you commit to, and something you face together. There’s no real falling to them -- you make a choice every day to continue with it, even when it doesn’t feel like a choice at all.
Aria likes the notion, probably commits to some idea of finding soulmates, but is not holding her breath on it being a reality. There’s so many people in the world, and you can only meet so many. Maybe some can find true love, but others will find a variety of love besides. So long as it’s healthy, so long as it leaves you better than it found you, then whatever love you choose is good, never mind if it’s ‘true love.’
Kokoro really wants it to be true in her heart of hearts, for something to just click and make it easy, but that dumbs down a very complex issue. Love is a lot more than just meeting someone and riding off into the sunset and having the best days of your life, she knows that even with her usual lack of romantic history. True love might not exist, but the right person does, and they’ll help make this world a little more stable for being in it, just as she might make their world a little better.
K   :   KISS.   is your muse a good kisser? why / why not?
Shizuka has decades of experience. They’ve got the practice on lockdown, and can gauge fairly well what any given partner wants out of the experience. It’s all part of their plays at intimacy, knowledge, or whatever else they can get out of a person. As for a genuine kiss, well, they’re still pretty skilled, but perhaps a bit hesitant.
Aria is an earnest kisser. Maybe not one for finesse or natural talent, but when they kiss someone they mean it, and they make it something special. Whether a first kiss or a thousandth, their object of their affection will never have to question where they stand with her so long as they’re eagerly trading kisses. It’s actually kind of sweet.
Kokoro has kissed one boy, in her teens, on a dare. Kokoro has no actual experience beyond this adolescent experience, and while the boy proved positively frazzled by the act, that might owe more to his partner’s beauty and standing than actual skill. She’s probably pretty bad at it until she gets some practice in, which might be endearing to some.
I    :   I LOVE YOU.   does your muse find ‘i love you’ easy or hard to say?
Shizuka better be dying before they say it to anyone they are not directly related to. Rieko and Akira hear it constantly -- Akira especially -- but everyone else holding their breath to hear it is going to suffocate long before Shizuka even thinks of saying such a thing. They’re more likely to say it through ride or die actions than openly, verbally admit it. 
Aria used to be open about the sentiment, sharing it freely, but her losses have made her a bit more reserved. After Tamlen’s loss, I think it became a bit harder for her to form the words, and then depending on the verse, her history with Anders really blunted her tongue. In a time of great emotion or stakes, however, I think she could remember the shape of the words and offer them again.
Kokoro doesn’t have a lot of people to love, but those who got through her walls and into her heart will never have to doubt where they stand with her. Once she loves someone, she will say it, as many times as they need to hear it. This is what makes her a good mom friend to her companions and an even better romantic interest to those who want to devote themselves to her socially awkward ass.
