I love your writing!! Could you write something about Javier having a crush on reader and singing songs directed to her but she doesn't know bc its in spanish
Mi Canción Para Mi Amor
Javier refuses to tell you what his songs are about. Guess you’ll have to do this the hard way.
Tumblr media
Javier has been acting strange lately. Well, stranger than normal.
The man has been a lot more nice to you than to anyone else. Also, the other guys had begun to tease him. (You think you saw him punch Micah once). Not that you didn’t like the attention, you actually favored the company of Javier more than the others. He was actually quite charming under that rough exterior.
However, what really confused you is when he spoke Spanish.
You couldn’t understand a word of what he was saying, and you know he does it just to get under your skin. That’s just a Javier thing to do.
Around the fire one time, Javier began to play his music like normal. Now, even though you don’t understand what he’s saying in the songs, they’re always very entertaining. However, this song seemed more quiet, more full of emotion, more directed towards...you.
He started to do this more often, more so when it was just you two by the fire. It was around this time that his behavior changed too.
“Y es por ti. Que late mi corazón. Y es por ti. Que brillan mis ojos hoy. Y es por ti. Que he vuelto a hablar de amor. Y es por ti. Que calma mi dolor...” Javier sung quietly by the fire, gently strumming his guitar. You casually looked up from your book only to make eye contact with him. You don’t know why, but it made you feel all shy inside. After he was finished, you asked, “What were you saying?”
He shook his head with a laugh: “Sorry Y/N, secret stays with speaker.”
You huffed slightly and picked your book back up till it was covering your face. You’ve tried asking him multiple times, and each time he refused to tell you or changed the subject. This bothered you because it felt like he was keeping some secret from you. Normally, he would try to teach you some Spanish words (you would always forget and feel bad). Now, he wouldn’t tell you the lyrics to some song.
You would have to take matters into your own hands.
I mean, someone here has to understand that language.
You went to Arthur first (as always) to see if Javier told him anything. The poor cowboy laughed nervously and responded, “Sorry Y/N, but I can barley speak English.”
You nodded in understanding and he rode off to do some errand for Dutch. That was your next try. The gang leader read a lot, maybe he could help?
However, you caught Dutch at a bad time. A simple “I don’t know” turned into a big rant.
“How can I have time for ridiculous things like that when there are Pinkertons tailing us!? We need money, Y/N! So get out there and do your share! I have-”
You left before he could finish which may result in some form of rage later, but you didn’t care at the moment (Hosea will save you). You tried Lenny, knowing the young man was also very book smart.
“Sorry Y/N, that kind of stuff just doesn’t interest me. Have you tried asking Javier?” He said kindly when you came up to him on guard duty.
“Yes, he’s being so bizarre about it.” You told him. Lenny nodded in sympathy then shrugged his shoulders while giving you an “I’m sorry” look. You told him its fine and went to some other gang members. Mary-Beth couldn’t help you even though she really tried, John just gave you a dumb-founded look, Sean only knew swear words in the language (which didn’t help you), and Charles offered to help you find a book and learn it.
It was evening when you plopped down by the fire in defeat. The only other person there was Micah, who was reading a newspaper with one leg crossed over the other. You stared at him, dreading to ask for him for help.
"Not gonna happen, sweetheart." He said without even looking at you. You swore under your breath and he laughed at your disappointment. A couple moments of silence passed till he sighed dramatically, put the newspaper in his lap, and looked at you.
"Listen Y/N, it ain't happening. What are you waiting for? The answer to just present itself to you?" He chuckled as he finished his statement and continued chuckling as he picked back up his newspaper and re-crossed his legs. You pouted and bit your tongue at a retort.
Suddenly, Hosea appeared in the light of the fire. He walked over to you and said, "Y/N, Dutch told me you needed help with some Spanish? If that's the case, I happen to know a few phrases and would be happy to help."
You grinned and nodded (Hosea to the rescue), then cast Micah a smug evil glare. He huffed and angrily opened the newspaper back to his face while stiffening his body posture.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Wow...” You said with a red face after you and Hosea finished deciphering Javier’s words.
“He seems to like you a lot.” The old outlaw noted with a smile. You asked the man what you should do now that you know. Hosea simply put his hand on your shoulder and said the decision on what to do with this knowledge was ultimately yours.
So you went to find Javier.
You found him near the scout campfire fiddling with some knives. You casually took a seat near him, trying to ignore the fire in your chest. He looked up and gave you a smile.
“Hola Y/N.” He said kindly. You returned the greeting. A couple minutes of silence passed before you couldn’t help but blurt out, “I understand.”
He paused his work, and a look of confusion was put on his face. That was until realization set in, and he froze, the knives slipping from his hands. Javier suddenly did a whole 180 in personality. The suave and confident was replaced by shy and unease.
“You...understand my songs?” He asked quietly while rubbing the back of his neck. You nodded and explained all the trouble you had to go through just to figure it out. He laughed, easing some of the tension.
“You went to Sean? That man can’t even read.” He said with a laugh, his old self back.
“I was desperate because somebody wouldn’t tell me!” You said back while laughing as well.
“I was nervous, ok.” He said after the laughter ended. You patiently waited for an explanation.
“I was too nervous to say how I felt about you, so I thought it would be easier in Spanish.” He explained while picking his knives back up, so he could avoid eye contact.
“Easier for you maybe.” You said with a laugh. He smiled at that. Then you suddenly went up and hugged him. He froze, but returned the gesture.
“It annoyed me, but it still worked.” You said.
“It did?” He asked with surprise.
“Yes.” You whispered, then kissed his cheek.
He laughed slightly and then said, “Pasaste por tantos problemas por mí, mi amor.” (You went through so much trouble for me, my love.)
“Stop it!”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juanes “Es Por Ti” was the song I used for this story. 10/10, great song, look it up.

Javier as your closest friend in the gang
My first ever hc of Javier! I just started stanning this man so it took me a while to come up with all this. Kinda wanted this to help me explore more qualities of him bc I'm having a tough time writing him too <\3 Enjoy!
Javier is normally quiet and reserved, especially for most people in the gang. But he's a completely different person around you.
He's more laid back and more comfortable in your company. He simply loves that he can be his true self in your presence without it being a huge deal or him being punished about finally "loosening up" for once. He appreciates that he can strike up a conversation with you anytime, without feeling like he's oversharing.
Sometimes he will approach you just to check up on you. If you have any errands to run, people to rob, he will gladly join if you let him. He will show up.
Sometimes he'll be the one to ask you to accompany him himself and you'd be one of his first options besides Arthur, John or Bill.
Before returning to camp, especially after you just accompanied him to run some decent errands, he'll be certain to treat you with a drink or with a meal, and Javier will insist upon it. Its his simple way of saying thank you.
Javier doesn't do it for anyone else, even if he's indebted to them. He could return favors in a lot of other ways, but this is his thing with you.
Javier appreciates that you don't have to fill silences when you're with him. He also loves that you can fend for yourself and you've always given a ton of effort, big or small to help the gang make money and the camp be kept proper.
Most people in the gang definitely don't get to experience his playful side as much as you do. If he's in a good mood, he'll be pretty cheeky around you just to tease.
"Como esta, calabaza?"
Literally translates to "What's up, pumpkin?", and he'd find it a shame you don't have much reaction to it.
"Have you never heard of a rhyme joke in your life before? Ay, you're no fun."
Its always a dumb joke after another and his dumbass will laugh at them like they're the most hilarious thing.
"What does a cowboy call his daughter?"
"Stop being a clown, Javier. I swear I'll–"
"!Hiiiiijaaaaa!"
Best believe his smile or his giggle will be contagious though.
He will be pointing at you as you stifle a grin or hold back a laugh and Javier will crack up even more just to lead you on.
It will be impossible not to notice his change of demeanor when goofing around with you. So others from the gang would feel slightly different that they don't get to experience that side of Javier. When Uncle brought it up in the campfire saying he wished Javier bonded with him like that as well, the latter would walk out every time, only finding more reason not to open himself up to the others.
He would come up to you sometimes to ask if you have some free time just so he could share some new melodies he came up with in his guitar.
Since he's mostly in a writer's block however, the two of you would end up just naming the melodies instead of coming up with lyrics to go along with them. He'd come up with personal ones that mostly relate to himself. Something descriptive like "Exiled for love" , "Sound of the war"
You'd come up with something simple and easier to remember.
Sometimes, your suggestions would make him feel insecure because of how easy you could come up with them, and at the same time how they accurately fit the feel of the melody.
He'd hear your suggestion and a part of him would wish you didn't have to hear his idea. He will be very impressed by you.
Javier is also a good friend to be around especially when you need to unload your mind. If you had a hard day or you're feeling really sentimental, he'll be there.
Usually he would ask you to ride out with him so you can have a chat while on your horses. He will be certain to take you somewhere quiet enough where no one can end up eavesdropping or disturbing your moment.
He won't always know what to say but he's a good listener. Javier will stay quiet and react. If you need his advice, he will be honest with you.
He has an attitude of looking at the bigger picture of things. He'd most likely suggest for you to do the same sometimes, and look at the positive aspect in an otherwise negative situation. He's very hopeful but won't force positivity on anyone. If need be, he'll allow you to sulk, be lonely or frustrated. He won't leave you alone with your worries. He'll acknowledge them.
Conversations with him are always light and though he could be blunt when necessary, he manages to speak his mind without offending you maliciously.
Javier does become apathetic if you're being stubborn though, or if you'd act like a victim instead of facing consequences of your actions. Not facing accountability whenever you fuck up will tire him out. He won't want to hear shit if its the same thing over and over again.

So I got around to it and watched RDR1 for the first time all the way through just because I hadn't seen anything other than cutscenes with javier/bill/dutch and I wanted to know what it was about.
I have some thoughts on it I'm gonna say but, before you read ahead know I only watched the main cutscenes. I didn't play it, I'm not judging on gameplay or anything like that, this is not about it being fun to play, this is about what it's like to watch. I know the game is also 10 years old so I'm not judging on animations or anything like that either, old games can have jittery and awkward animations and still be good games.
And overall: not worth the 4 hours of cutscenes. Only a few parts are and even then it's because it's weird. If I had played the first game first and not the second one I wouldn't have really wanted to play 2 after 1.
~~
So, here are my thoughts:
First one had a lot of uncomfortable moments in it that was revolving mostly around sex. A lot of references to human trafficking, a sex scene that felt too long anyway, just a lot of disrespect towards women in general and it felt weird since all that came from the people in Mexico, but there was like none of that from white men aside from one comment.
Abigail and John have 0 connection, there's nothing there, they had more in the epilogue of 2 than the scenes in 1. Abigails first scene where you see her she runs out of the house and up to John and starts hitting him and it sets off red flags asap. (as someone who was in an abusive relationship I can say it made me feel very bad)
Jack was just a rude ass and even his father/son relationship with John didn't feel as good as it did in the second game epilogue. They kind of fell flat with it, it feels like John just adopted Jack recently rather than had been his father for years on end.
There's time line issues with the way they had set up the games, Abigail mentions that John "always leaves" and "jack is growing up without a father" which does not make sense considering the time line of 2. And you can argue that 2 wasn't out yet, and you'd be correct, but they should have referred to the time line they had set up previously to keep the story more linear.
It was really hard to watch and kept going off track of Bill and Javier and Dutch, and fell more onto John helping Mexicans with another revolution. It felt like the entirety of the Guarma chapter but with more crudeness and a bit more story dashed in there.
It wasn't until Javier and Bill were killed that the game even remotely took a turn for better because after Javier and Bill died John left Mexico and the crude sex shit stopped and the game felt better, but not by much.
Even when John went home, there was a lot of issues with racism specifically from one guy to natives (and my friends who are native and watched the scenes were also uncomfortable during it.) and the way Dutch is very obviously using native people for his own personal gain is outright disgusting. It was bad in 2 with Eagle Flies and its just as bad, if not worse, in 1.
Rdr1 had a white man, who BTW takes cocaine right on screen once which isn't the worst part but it's weird to watch, tell a native man that he knew a man who "killed 18 natives and has PTSD" and it felt BAD.
There was just like, a lot that felt wrong and a lot that felt bad abt it and I don't think it's a good game truly.
The humor was jarring and mostly it was just "John is mad about everything" and nobody has any real nice moments with one another. A lot of people were also just downright gross in it too, a lot of throat clearing and phlegm spitting (which is more a personal pet peeve but it happened a lot)
I hope if they remake it then they fix up the story some and make it not quite as out there with a lot of things as they did. I would love to say people should watch it to experience the first game but it's uncomfortable. It's got the warnings on it for mature audiences and I went into that knowing it, but it still felt overall dry and nasty and hard to watch.
These are just my opinions on it though, if you disagree that's fine I don't mind but please don't try to argue with me. I'm judging on my own experience and comfort levels with things, not anyone else's.
Tldr: The game is not that good to sit and watch and I only made it through bc I watched with friends.
