~ "Evening gown with taffeta bow from Frederick & Nelson, circa 1955. The dramatic taffeta sash on this evening gown ties into a bow large enough to be seen from the front. The designer, Irene Lentz, known professionally as just 'Irene', began her career as a designer for Hollywood films. She was the executive costume designer at the MGM film studio for most of the 1940s, and opened her own private salon after leaving MGM in 1950. This design was exclusive to Seattle department store Frederick & Nelson and was purchased in their elegant Designer Room. In earlier days the department was called the 'French Gown Shop', with the understanding that the best, most elite designs came from Paris. But later in the century, particularly after World War II, American designers gained more recognition and were counted among the ranks of the top style leaders." ~

Kiko Kostadinov
Fall 2023 Menswear
He imagined a group of schoolboys who were invited to create a collection for themselves, but whose research material was based on four unsung influences from the womenswear design canon. These were the French-born designer Anne-Marie Beretta, Milanese titan Krizia (aka Mariuccia Mandelli), the American costume designer Irene Lentz and the Roman couturier sisters Sorelle Fontana.
Kostadinov said he also incorporated the codes of Laura and Deanna Fanning, who design the KK brand's womenswear line, and treated the work of London-based artist Mariann Metsis in the same manner Krizia incorporated animalia.

I believe this to be totally distinct from the costume designer Irene (aka Irene Lentz)'s label.

Happy Birthday Greer Garson! (1904-1996). Yes, this is the same dress designed by Irene Maude Lentz (professionally known as Irene) and worn by both Lucille and Greer. Who wore it best?
