🌿 The winter months are slowly turning into rainy spring. We've shed most of our warm clothes and put them at the back of our closets, leaving them to be forgotten until the next great winter. However with the shedding of all these layers, our travel habits change as well. Gone are the ten suitcases and seven extra bags filled to the brim with warm socks and additional pairs of gloves. The time has come for rain coats, umbrellas and weirdly patterned wool jackets that our grandmothers wore before us (but they somehow became very fashionable and trendy). 👑 • 🌵Now we can pack lightly - one suitcase or backpack per person (depending on where you're going and how long you'll be staying) plus a camera bag if you're itching for some nice photos. 🌿 Travelling to a foreign country can be difficult without a guide. You have to prepare everything yourself, find sites that you can understand - sometimes in your native tongue or at least in a language that you understand, plan the trip and if you're taking a car, you have to follow the GPS if you don't know the way. However, sometimes the nice GPS lady says to go left on a roundabout, when there is no roundabout in sight. Or she says to turn right after 500 meters, but the road clearly stays straight for quite a while. How do we navigate the unknown roads then? 🌵 It's quite difficult to navigate when you've been following the instructions of a bodiless voice for years and years. When you've forgotten how to use a map, or haven't bought one since the roads had been changed. 🌿 Adventure can find us at unexpected places that we visit. It may be hiding right besides the last house on the left or on top of a mountain range. The adventure could start out as a quest for a hidden treasure or as a path to find yourself again. 🌿 Seeing nature come back to life after a long period of hibernation is quite invigorating. All the flower buds fight for a chance of warm sunlight and all the leaves emerge from a deep slumber. 🌻 I love watching the little buds becoming a hotspot for all the local bees that want to pollenate the nature around them. And using a macro lens to capture that beauty is so astonishing to me, because real life can in cases like these seem so inferior to a macro photograph. ⛰️ I am in no way saying that photos are better than nature, however the way we perceive the nature around us with the naked human eye can sometimes lack the definition of a macro lens. Plus, memories fade and in a month or two, we will forget how a certain flower looked or a certain leaf fell off of a tree, but photos immortalise those moments. All we need to do is open up that awesome album of the day we want to remember and there it is - all the little souvenirs we took along the way so that we could remember the amazing trip we took to that one particular spot. 🍀 • 🌿 I usually don't buy gifts or souvenirs for my closest friends and family because of a few different reasons.
