[marvel] the brand of tony fans who try to make all the characters into an IMfan club then get mad when things aren't like the "not team cap friendly" tropes is already annoying enough when it comes to steve, but those fans trying to spread that attitude towards bucky is beyond comprehension fr.

i've seen sm of them take out of context comics and be like "see! Bucky is on our team!" but funny enough the only comics they can find are the ones where bucky is a skrull.. LOL.. they don't mention the skrull part tho, or if anyone who actually read those comics mentions it's only to complain about the skrull reveals "ruining" a "good" bucky, as if bucky fighting alongside tony against steve wasn't the most obvious OOC skrull flag ever. those comics weren't even good writing, but i digress.

these are the same people who see steve fighting tony and call it OOC "mcu-ification" and.... i'll just never understand how that fanbase isn't satisfied with the architects of phase 3 MCU being proudly biased towards their fave and giving him majority screentime in avengerscivilwar. they still wanna take it further than that for some reason.

it's not good for the other characters, and none of these fans ever bother looking at their solo projects and learn who the other characters actually are. neither do those fans seem to read tony's solo projects either, bc none of them care for the actual IM characters more than they care for trying to make the main characters of other corners of the franchise cheerleaders for their fave. i blame crossovers & cameos for giving such flat and OOC impressions characterization compared to solo projects, bc those flat generic versions are what that brand of fan loves and makes them want to flatten everyone else to that flat cameo characterization.

aleays wanna redraw her. i remade her story from its roots about electropop to one about hiw she lives in a world of dancing and music, how she became such a skilled ballet dancer that she formed the imfanous "ballet feet" where she constantly walks on her toes --- however, she truly dreams of being a singer and not a dancer, and only pursued dancing because she caught onto it quickly as a child and everyone pushed for her to become a Dancer, a statis symbol job in her universe

it was a story i wrote because as a kid i was pretty well known as a "good artist", and when i would tell teachers/family members/career workers that my dream is actually to be a writer i would be berated and shut down and told i was "wasting my talent not pursuing art", leading me to feel as if everyone saw my writing as bad and that all i was good for was my art. only one person supported my writing career, which was my language arts/writing teacher mr. nelson, so i went home one day in highschool and wrote a creative writing short story about a girl who yearned to be a Singer and not a Dancer in her world that distincly sectioned these two jobs apart, and that she would never become a Singer because those around her saw her as wasting her talent and her "gift" as a pointed-toe Dancer.

i even planned to have her have a best friend, who was also a Dancer that she met in dance school, who she later finds out was actually an incredibly skilled Singer as a kid who wanted to Dance, and who found Singing lackluster and boring. She forced her way into dance school by taping her feet into a pointed-toe position and going through excruciating pain because of it all to achieve her dream, and they both recieve matching charm bracelets embued with a magical power that allows them to do incredible things with their abilities as a Dancer and a Singer, and in it they both seek out their dreams and to break away from the paths others are trying to lead them down

Student Spotlight | Imfan Hoi, MFA ‘18

1.     Tell us a little bit about arts leadership in Macau. How is it different from here? How is it the same?

Macau, is a small but high-density city in Southern China with rich Chinese and Portuguese cultures and traditions. With this mix of cultural influences, I am proud to say that many historical properties in Macau were listed as the World Heritage Sites. From my perspective, Seattle is a diverse city with a lot of interesting and historical stories. I can see art leaders from either Macau or Seattle place a high priority on cultural preservation and historical education. I believe that the most important part of a successful arts culture, regardless of where they are, is passionate arts leaders. Even though the arts culture in Macau is still developing, more and more arts organizations are motivated to look for an innovative way to be sustainable and survive. We would like to develop an alternative industry for Macau where the major revenue comes from Gaming and Tourism industries. We want to break the “casino” stereotype. Recently, Macau’s government has been paying more attention to support for the art and culture industry, and there are more collaborations and partnerships between arts organizations and hospitalities. With this condition, arts leaders could have more opportunities to develop this alternative industry and have a bright future. Additionally, Macau arts leaders are more focused on international connections. Some arts educators brought what they have learned overseas to Macau; some arts leaders invite foreign artists or performers to present in Macau; and some arts organizations create bridges for local artists to access the global arts world. However, one of the big challenges for arts leaders to develop arts culture is how to educate Macau people to get involved in arts, culture and appreciation. Gaming and Tourism industries have big impact on audiences’ lifestyle, arts leaders still need to build more efforts on audience participation and engagement. Another challenge for arts leaders is how to get support from private sectors and individual donors instead of only relying on public sectors. I appreciate that arts leaders in Seattle have strong fundraising skills and a deep sense of social responsibility.

2.     What has been your favorite experience while in the program so far? What experience has been the most valuable?

The MFA program concentrates on practices and reflections. Before this program, I had not questioned myself as to how I could contribute as a leader, what the meaning of leadership was to me, and how I could practice leadership in daily life. This program has driven me to think deeper about leadership. My favorite thing is to see how arts leaders connect arts and social responsibility deeply. I take equity and social justice into consideration, and always think about how arts could make something different. I am always impressed when arts leaders share their experience of making social change. Hence, the program gave me an opportunity to reflect my personal mission as an arts leader. The most important elements I have learned about myself as a leader is how to value and connect passion, motivation, inspiration, empathy, integrity, ethics, influence, networking and relationship in my personal mission and applying these to my future goals and actions. My personal leadership mission is to  develop my leadership skills to build relationships of trust, honesty, integrity, respect and love among people. I hope to contribute to society by taking equity into consideration. And I hope to share motivation, inspiration, encouragement, empowerment and optimism with the people I encounter. With my personal mission, I aspire to work, contribute and live with passion, hope and meaning. I believe that when leaders align their personal mission in workplace, they will apply more passion and innovation to organizations, and they are able to help build a better future on both the organizations and their career paths.

As an international student, I feel thankful that everyone is nice to me. I could always feel comfortable to express my ideas and I feel my voice is always being heard. I love the MFA family! We build relationship with respect, encourages and equity!

3. You are always volunteering! What keeps your energy up? What have you learned through your volunteer experience?

I would say that my energy comes from my goals, personal mission and positive traits. I am eager to learn as much as I can. I love volunteering! Through volunteering and internships, I gain more knowledge about different organizations’ cultures, structures and leadership style. The most valuable experience I’ve gained from volunteering is networking. I love listening to stories. Every organization has an interesting and special story; and every person also has unique and amazing story to tell. I can always get inspired from their thoughts, passions, and insight and so on. That’s how I cheer myself up – keep learning and be passionate.

4. What are your hopes for the future?

Change is challenging but beautiful. I hope to be the person to change and inspire others to change as well. The big dream for the future is to develop a more engaged and active art culture. I hope that people who work in the arts industry would have more stable and satisfied income. I hope arts and social responsibility could have stronger and stronger connections.

My short term goal will be to find more creative research methodologies in the art field. Data is one of today’s instruments to understand more about the audiences, finances and organizations for making better decisions. I hope to build up more resources for the future art leaders through conducting more research projects.
