Writing that Angstober fill has reignited the image of a very depressed Central eating liminal space burger in my mind. And it's a very funny image to me. That Central is having a terrible time though.

Verse: It Makes a Home in Me (Goopverse)

This is wrong.

This is not how it's supposed to be.

You were supposed to get them back. Back to their home. Their world. But then. The brief glimpses you've gotten. There's nothing to go back to. Their Commander is dead. Their Earth burns. You can feel it smoldering in your skull.

They know, vaguely. What you've told them. What they knew, saw, heard. Just before this place. It's enough. Enough to know it's hopeless.

Some part of you hopes still. Hopes this too is just a layer of unreality. Is a test itself. That you'll wake up. That none of this was real.

But you're not holding your breath.

Central and Shen and you have been sitting. It's been a while. Not sure how long. Maybe you heard them crying. You don't know. Not your business.

Central hauls himself to his feet. Shen follows. You do too. He says something about finding a way out of the facility-- but it's hollow.

What will he do, if there's a world beyond this?

What will you do?

Shen mentions having seen a window. Central nods. Leads the way out of the testing room. You hesitate at the doorway. It's all you know.

But they've lost more than you. They deserve to be free of this place. If that's even possible.

You look back at the testing tank. Taste of the half liquid on your tounge. Feeling of the film it's left on your skin; slightly sticky. Body ache -- a tiredness in you. Take a deep breath, in and out.

Central calls for you.

You answer.

30 Days, 30 Lines - Day 3

Bet you thought I forgot this. I did not forget, my life just. Exploded.

Anyway, this excerpt is part of a answer to a ask game. The verse is 'It Makes A Home In Me' aka goopverse, which. Is a bit hard to summarize beyond 'test subject for a deminsional hopping experiment gets lucid and causes shenanigans'. Two characters from XCOM 2 are prominent, but this isn't actually fanfic...I think? I dunno, man.

Central is arguing with one of the white coats. It's hard to follow the conversation. Shen keeps looking at you. The scientists look at you, too. Remnant of a passionate half shout reaches through: "--meant no harm!" That doesn't feel true. The scientists are standing, moving, converging on the doorway. Hot panic in your blood. Phantom pricking of wires. The lukewarm sensation of the substance. Someone grabs your hand. Let them lead you. Stumble over yourself.

Run.

People you don't know, crowding around you so close all you know is their stone faces, their empty eyes. Distantly the sound of beeping. Mouth dry and like it's full of cotton, body heavy and limp. Skin on fire with false itch, a million tiny stars exploding.

Try to speak - fail. Try to speak - fail. Try to--

Laughter.

There are no answers.

Someone produces a syringe. Inside it iridescent blue green... something. Want to struggle, can't. Pull against the restraints anyway, realize they're not IVs, not electrodes, real wires.

Try to remember where you are, what this is. Nothing but white noise. Who are you? A million people, a million selves. Faint nagging at the base of your skull: this might not even be real.

A quick stick of fresh pain--

Then you are somewhere else.

Someone else.

Where the FUCK are the liminal spaces but they're laboratories aesthetic photos... all I can really think that fits is portal 1 in the lab areas . But even that doesn't actually match The Fucked Up Facility in my dream... so what the Fuck

ig the lightning/time freeze room in the real unreal also kinda works but that room doesn't quite match what I Saw in my Brain
