b6 temp tri thoughts

bc hoo boy for me who hated b3 there is a lot to unpack.

firstoff b3 itself thoughts. gosh what a fucking disappointment of a story. for me this was where heroes story started to go downhill. initially gacha was kinda lame but the story was nice or at least bland and unoffensive (aka b1), and from b3 on the gacha was better but the story was much much worse.

before b3 i actually liked the starter trio bc sure, they were boring, but they seemed responsible enough. just like super generic standins for the usual lords/ect. after b3 their personalities developed. () was a fucking control freak and jerk, the sort of person who lectures you on your own customs and tells you why your beliefs are wrong, and also guilt trips you into complimenting them. () is a fucking stalker who has shit taste in relationships and people, thinks abuse is romantic, and is like the embodiment of being positive in a nasty way. () is a horrible leader, a kissass, and has none of the original characters likeable traits (defender of the weak, funny, ect) and instead is just ‘i love money’ memes.

the other characters introduced arent much better. gosh dang eir i was rooting for you to be a pamina character when you were first introduced. now i just feel like. the tired man with his cigarette looking done with everything. like i havent liked eir since b3 so i dont hate her now or anything but like. ok good for you youre a piece of shit.

honestly this is just gonna be me ripping b3 a new one so ill skip to the temptri story. as a premise its not bad, def better than b2s story: hel is left rulerless so the person who’s taken over needs to get rid of the other heir for like. competition. something something i think its like addressed in game of thrones or something idk medieval royalty politics. its like why macbeth sent assassins after duncan’s sons even tho they were out of the country. so the god/dragon of eir’s birthplace, who was also apparently her nanny, saves her life by merging with her and they go on a quest to retrieve the souls of eir’s dead subjects. like ok yea thats vaguely interesting sure go off.

the good: a little more development on hel/ymir. i also do like ymir! shes like the mom whos kinda a pushover, like if her kid (friend’s kid) wants to eat candy late at night she’ll do it bc she feels bad she wasnt in the kid’s life enough sorta thing. having the magic dragon being kind to the protagonist is such a fucking refresher after b2 of n ifl just threatening and demeaning fj orm (and laegy) for like five chapters (until they decided shes redeemable at the fucking last minute despite her being awful. but anyways i digress). i dont have a problem with her. cool good for you.

im having a separate section for ganglot bc i really liked her. like esp seeing the fan reaction against her and how badly shes written in the story makes me like her infinitely more! oh my gosh!

-shes actually dutiful at her job. like shes a really cool i think the word is anti villain? a character who actually has noble and good motivations but does it in a chaotic way/that is destructive to the protagonist. or something like that. theres a mess left over bc of the order’s swaggering and someones gotta clean it up and shes gonna be that someone bc her guardian is dead now, killed by her guardian’s adopted daughter. like her motivations are understandable, she’s after eir for medieval politics plus you killed/helped kill my role model slash mother figure who i thought was also your mother how fucking could you.

-shes that trope of “guy has a bitter animosity toward their presumed rival but said rival is just a dude. who acts normal abt it”. and gosh i love that trope. (herb, sal (from f g o and amadeus the movie version too), randall monsters inc, the list goes on i bet) its a good trope and i always love to see girl characters written with beloved traits of guy characters (gosh i wish there were more characters that arent guys written with wholesome kind jock kronk type characteristics. high school au feng is basically that. but again off topic). i feel bad for ganglot bc she just had to choose the person to have a vendetta against who would actually fuck her up out of proportion but. -doctor idv mourn emote-

-her design is nice and her backstory makes her personality/character more sympathetic. i like the classy formal look, it fits as her being a handmaiden and very dutiful, kinda like the maids/butlers in 14. im so grateful they didnt make her an au version of the main characters like the fan theories were saying. she was abandoned as a child and is older than eir/adopted presumably before eir was, which means she couldnt be those characters even if they wanted her to be. fuck you eat shit fall off your horse. anyways. she basically had nothing and was taken in by someone who not only provided for her needs but offered herself as an example. im willing to bet that seeing hel gave ganglot a purpose/something to look up to, and that hel, while providing for her needs, probably treated their relationship more as a business/apprenticeship sorta thing. in fact theres even stuff that said that ganglot loved looking after eir, which makes it seem like she was kind to eir (which makes what happened even more sad/pisses me off) and only hated her after she killed hel. and considering ganglot didnt know abt what hel did to eir, she wouldnt know why eir rebelled against her. and eir never fucking explains it to her. to ganglot it must look like eir just was like “oh woops looks like im a princess to a pretty lively fairyland happily ever after kingdom im ditching your goth busy realm of the dead to go fuck off and escape from my responsibilities and also imma help some pet self insert of a kill-happy spoiled ass prince and his friends kill your boss slash role model byeeeee -nail polish emoji-”. like idk. its totally relatable and understandable why ganglot would want to kill eir.

-her fatal flaw that leads to her demise is her kindness/mercy. which is something you almost never see with villains, esp ones that are supposed to be unsympathetic. like maybe in a series with an antihero who takes advantage of them falling for a trick or something. or like joseph joestar outwitting the pillar men, but then its less kindness and more like “honor/chivalry” being outwitted by wiliness, which imo is completely different. this is like if the hero is pleading for their life before fighting the villain, the villain decides to give them this out of mercy, and the hero, without explaining anything to the villain who presumably was their friend before, just fucking sacrifices their friend’s life to murder the villain from within in order to kiss up to their longtime abusers who have a sad backstory uwu and that makes it ok. gosh i fucking hate some aspects of this game. anyways i think a villain who has a point whose mercifulness leads to them being killed by a dirty trick is kinda interesting and at least new.

the bad:

-gosh i hate the u b w ripoff in the plot. like please just get a better plot point dont rip off a fucking boring f ate story. their appearances were played up but ultimately did basically nothing but motivate eir, potentially to do worse things but then again thats up in the air (no pun intended) how much of what she chose to do was “for my friends!” and how much was her own idea.

-the jokes abt eirs new design. i dont have a problem with her new design, or even her decisions. it makes sense, seeing shes spent the last however long around these assholes that maybe she’s changed for the worse (or rather from a blank slate to something worse than that). but what i do have a problem is w the “jokes”. no assholes you cant just “cure” depression for one what these characters have is more akin to life altering trauma and just bc theyre wearing brighter colors and smiling more doesnt mean their “depression is gone/cured”. i dont like the in game explanation for idunn but i have my version which is (imo) more meaningful and in character. i think for eir technically it makes more sense with the lore given, as besides askr, which treats her like a pet or a trophy, ymir is the first person in her life whose treated her decently, and in a parental way at that. so yea, not really w the design but definitely with the fans jokes. shut the fuck up.

-the writing. like as a sort of tragedy of people not fucking communicating a la spi derman 1 (2002) or an episode of conan its fine, in fact its pretty good. like for those reasons (+ the sort of medieval drama aspects) i like it or rather dont have a problem. its that those aspects are basically just glossed over for a generic and not really morally substantial “good wins evil loses” angle that this series likes to take. its not as bad as b2 where “sure this person basically kept your life as a carrot on a string to get you to fight your mutual respected former dead enemy who that person dehumanizes, and also they constantly belittle and threaten you but hey they had a crush on your ancestor so that makes them a good person uwu in the end”, but its still not great. like i said ganglot is a really cool character and very multi faceted and sympathetic, but the series just treats her like “hels evil successor who hates eir for no reason” and the fandom calls her incompetent so im just like. i will bite you but im also too tired. idk. i like ganglot. she seems like kind of a workaholic young lady who both is the “i serve someone and am super faithful but they really dont deserve me” trope i unfortunately like (i say unfortunately bc its fucking annoying bc i always end up hating the person theyre faithful to unless its beet and schooby and in that case beet is just too lovable to hate, and also he never asked to be idolized also so him being greedy is something you cant blame him for).

-i think if the story was done better? or like a version id actually like? theres not much id want to change. i think to make eir actually sympathetic she should actually try to communicate what she learned abt hel/what hel did to her to ganglot, and ganglot either ignores her or shuts down eir, or ganglot still cant forgive her even knowing the truth. something like that. a quick fix and that makes everything better. have a flashback to when they were younger and ganglot being kind to eir, and make it more of a moral conflict eir has against fighting and killing her former friend. kinda like the scene in spi derman 3 (2007). ok enough spiderman references id also address what happens to hel after the story. either eir kills ganglot and resumes the responsibility for both the realm of life and the realm of death. or she is able to defeat but not kill ganglot, while recognizing her as an enemy also has the strength of character to recognize she’d be a good ruler of the dead, and gives her blessing/relinquishes her claim to the throne while leaving, never to see her again or something. idk.

id also personally just eradicate all mention of (u b w characters) from the story and make the ending not that eir goes back to her “friends in askr” but that she goes back to set things right, not as their tool and pawn but as the leader her people in the realm of life (and depending on which the realm of death) need, acknowledging her responsibility to her people and her independence. but nooooOOOoo she goes back to the people who treat her as a toy like all happy to be that way. this years story and the protagonists happily sacrificing others for their schemes and then having the gall to act sad abt it afterwards as if tehy werent the one who twisted the damn knife istg

#negative #kinda. i just want to unpack some thoughts #truth be told im not really feeling huge on this story #its just. character: has a rivalry with some guy and a sad ending to their story #me: oh gosh. oh gosh i need a moment. just give me a moment #tho im kinda glad. maybe its years late but heres a b3 character i actually like #i do kinda like the idea of her being a friend/acquaintance of the kasumisquad. i hc she does her own thing basically #there also needs to be a support group for axe wielding dead enemies of the main characters who are weak for the avista family #gameblogging

OH MY GOD. ICHA. THIS FUCKING EVENT. was it the event u went :3c for?? i was guessing it was either this or u were like. super excited for nocturnality. but probably this since u said around the corner. but oh my god. i have to get this one bit out of the way first in that i need to quote what i said when i was talking about my alex in wonderland reaction like "(honestly, I had always had it in my head that citron was a runaway prince...? but okay)" and bc i know he was fleeing from something and was anti monarchy i was just like. i was taking notes / reactions while going through the event and would like just. pounce on any dialogue citron had bc like hes the co-lead hes gotta have SOMETHING... so then when he was like “is a genuine friendship really possible between the two of them?” abt Luke and S (due to their different power dynamics etc.) i literally had a note like "i am sitting here in my “citron undetermined royalty on the run” dunce cap and I LEAPT out of my chair. citron who did YOU have a relationship with!!!!" and continued with that line of thought the whole way thru like. oh s calls luke master i bet citron had some kind of servant who he was really close to but could never really treat as a true friend and THEN guy showed up (who i know nothing about but i DO i DO fucking remember once there was something abt him being really emotionless... and we ALL know the plays parallel real life and who better to parallel than a homunculus that!! doesnt!!!! know!!! human emotions!!!! just saying whenever i get to act 2 winter i will be taking NOTES. i mean. not that im not doing that already lol) AND HE SAID CITRONIA!!!! i absolutely fucking lost my shit. oh my god. screw the dunce cap i am RIGHT. putting a few more coins into my bets for hisoka assassin theory chikage also some kind of criminal theory.

ahem. um. back to the actual story. at first i was like "wow this mizuno guy looks shady, get him sakyo" and then the moment he mentioned tsuzuru i proceeded to lose it because a tsuzuru focused play!!! holy shit!!!!!! hes definitely like the character i relate most to in spring troupe so. yeah. anyways i loved how obviously u could tell they had History lol and the way mizuno is like "i think we should build a giant goddamn study for tsuzuru to lounge in and live well forever" is so funny. hes like the beast showing belle the library. anyways. when sakyo was like "and once again, it’s a story about friendship […] for an all male theater company, friendship is the easiest topic to perform" i was really sitting there like. :o. sakyo are u saying tsuzuru should write more gay romance. he can do it im sure. but yeah even tho it was just a passing comment i can def see why tsuzuru felt like insecure about it... writers can be delicate when its about something so important to them! like sakyo's comment was correct ofc (AND i think the final ending was a really fresh take on tsuzurus friendship theme) but hmm its like. im projecting a lil but i bet for tsuzuru he feels like his stories about friendship are particularly impactful and like, not trite, because his own friendship with mizuno impacted him that deeply. and when mizuno was like staring at tsuzuru on the balcony thats when i like. KNEW romeo and julius had to have been based off of tsuzuru and mizuno like the class difference! the fucking BALCONY. the way u can even take it as like a visual metaphor in that mizuno fels he cannot reach up to tsuzuru even though hes of a higher class. so anyways tsuzuru outright saying later that romeo and julius was like about them and his way of making them have a happy ending. was so happy to have that thought of mine confirmed.

i also felt like. intensely bad for tsuzurus writers block throughout the story like the whole writing and deleting... like it was. to the point where i was like damn... tsuzurus not doing any work that i literally felt bad and stopped watching the event so i could go complete the work i'd been putting off. thats what we call icon status. for real i related to tsuzuru SO hard this event bc id been having a couple of my own like. writer insecurity struggles, especially in the lines of like "oh is my writing to cheesy / unable to relate with anyone except myself" and like "oh this piece isnt like literary enough / people will think its silly or meaningless" so seeing tsuzuru go through kind of the same thing... yeah. anyways i am working through those feelings and its good that he is too! i thank itaru for his advice giving. and like it makes a lot of sense this is the one tsuzuru had troubles with because he can like. predictive text literally everyone's relationships but not his own haha

the manzai thing was so cute!! i always feel like the 11th extra episode in an event story is a bit disconnected and this was imo a great way to have something that felt perfectly fitting with the rest of the event! also im so validated that summer had the strongest showing because like. they are literally summer. they are THE comedy troupe. i cannot believe tsuzuru was at first like "wow ive never written a comedy script before" my guy. what the hell were water me and sardine search supposed to be then. but i suppose thats not specifically manzai, which makes sense... but it was still like. funny.

about the play itself... gosh tsuzuru calling that letter his own personal windup key, just got me. its like. hes got a piece of mizuno by his side always. i love that so much. and the way he just RAN out the theater in full costume!!! and tsuzuru is usually so reserved and kind of negative so the way he just unvaryingly was like figure it out guys and ran out the theater!! just to see mizuno again and the way mizuno was like please don’t make me turn around I’ve been crying and I don’t want u to see it. that was so powerful and I’m glad they could at least speak. i wonder if mizuno will keep sending letters every once in a while? personally I like to think after each play tsuzuru will get a little dandelion bouquet delivered to him with a lil handwritten note abt what mizuno liked and such etc… and he’ll save them and maybe press the flowers. who knows. also this was such a nice and lovely way to incorporate tsuzuru’s flower into the story! i love that he’s got like a common weed as a flower. very fitting for his character! plus dandelions are what u make wishes on which is nice

uhhh but the play in general was really good! i liked the themes it felt really different. the whole ending where like luke has to power down s and they're like,, we're only saying goodnight really got at me like. they lived with each other so for sure luke had taught s these kinds of greetings the same way he'd explained handshakes... so he'd teach like s good morning good night etc and they probably got used to saying it to each other on the daily... so like ending with a goodnight from both of them is so. also the way this stuff isnt voice acted but they added crying audio. stole my heart and i wanted to cry too. just thinking about the picture of like... luke and s stuck in a half embrace, the key clutched tight in luke's hands, them both crying on each other in a show of pure emotion... tears indistinguishable between human and machine... its good. sigh. makes me wanna write a3 extended scripts or novelizations every once in a while bc these plays have such good visuals. like i thought when s saved luke hed get torn open by a beam and expose his clockwork but the way its literally the intense heat melts his skin off??? what the fuck. and like that final image i doubt theyd have time to reconstruct that so youd just have luke like curled around these gears and wiring.... wondering how yuki managed the costuming here. also the instrumental for the song is so good, i love that kind of thing so much! like itaru, im fond of steampunk :) ok thats all i had lol. hope ur having a good day/night!

tbh the third set of play (the second set of event) is my favorite of the bunches in general, i feel like the first set is like "okay we'll try to not punch you emotionally too hard bc we don't know how much you care about those charas yet". But the next set is just ":) ok children it's suffering time" so i waS looking forward you getting into the second set of events!

Clockwork Heart is one of my favorite events on top of that so i'm THRILLED of your reaction!

AND DLKFJDKLFJDFLK You're good at catching some narrative things what can i say ;D I LOVE Citron this event, he's so so good. And you're already working on clocking (AHA! puns!) Guy i see! God his appearance there back then just messed me up so much this was why i was so excited about his official introduction. The fact you already catch on that the plays are relevent to the characters arcs... muah that'll make it so good.

At least you're ready to have this bit of act 2 on your mind :3c

You were so ready for this event to hit you hard with the Tsuzuru thing omg :3c so good. AND YEAH the history is really right there for us to see and i LOVE your description of Mizuno wanting to cover Tsuzuru in the best environement for him to pursue his dream.

DLFKJDFKLJFDKLFJD YEAH SAKYO ARE YOU SAYING THAT. Because i think it's right to do so hey Tsuzuru wanna write romances yet hey- (still not onvinced Nocturnality isn't a gay romance though, i'm onto you Tsuzuru, i'm onto you).

But i completely agree with your reading on how much this has shaken Tsuzuru. Between the facts authors can be insecure about the things they like to write about, and how cathartic writing about friendship particularly is for Tsuzuru, this is putting back into consideration a lot for him and ofc it's blocking him. And with how it got him to seriously think about why he writes friendship it probably broought back all this intense sadness of the memories of losing Mizuno....

AND YEAH ROMEO AND JULIUS!! Tsuzuru does mention in passing when he gives the scripts for the first time that he based it on a past experience that really impacted him, and this event goes further into it then. The Balcony is such a clever catch omg. but YEAH it's so damn good and it makes me so emotional

oh man i can imagine indeed, as a writer yourself, everything Tsuzuru was going through fits your experiences so much. BUT MAN that it motivated you through your own work is truly impressive. A3's power.... But yeah i can see how relatable his feelings were and it is so interesting to see how he has to navigate through them. I love that Itaru was the one to help him through it too!! I think it shows a bit the difference between Writer, who will always have so many different things in mind about what to do with their writing, who they are appealing to, ect... and someone who is mostly a consumer who just appreciates the fact some people give him some escapism to start with! I feel like this was the best duo to have this conversation since in the Spring Troupe especially Itaru is the one who needs escapism the most and can at least get to Tsuzuru as the one who would get him the most. (and also tbh? the evergrowing fact of seeing Itaru more and more involved in his troupe will always make me cry.

YEAH THE MANZAI WAS REALLY CUTE!!! usually yeah the 11th episode is a bit disconnected, though it's often a way mostly to take the duo who had to work through their issues together in the event to see "and now, after that, when they don't have to work through trauma, how are they doing, what did they learn from it", but it's true that at least this one connects directly to a plotline that was mentioned a few times in the event!! And to have to work on a comedy at the end of a tragic event surely works well.

I also love Summer showing off their skills, they have such a good dynamic man. AND YEAH THIS IS SO FUNNY TSUZURU YOU WROTE THOSE PLAYS!!!! I suppose he says that too bc a lot of the fun of Summer are the addlibs that they improvise at every play, which makes it a lot funnier to rewatch too and directly reacting to the audience and the happy accidents happening on the stage......... BUT STILL TSUZURU YOU WROTE THE MOST OF IT!!!!!!!!! But yeha it IS different from Manzai so it's fine. Also writing comedy for Citron..... No matter what you write you won't actually be able to be close to how amazing he is comedywise, no script will be to the level of their usual banter of Tsuzuru having to react to Citron's insanity. A lost battle but it was hilarious.

God that play. THAT PLAY!!!! i hope you saw the cards because we see Tsuzuru reading the letter in his unbloomed SSR, and it's just. before the event: aw that's sweet i wonder what it's about// After the event: CRIES CRIES CRIES.

The whole scene where he sees Mizuno and runs after him just kills me. God i cried so hard on that bit, over and over. It hurts to see that Mizuno is still keeping distance as if he feels he doesn't deserve to be by Tsuzuru's side while it's all Tsuzuru wants... It's just so much. But i'm so glad they talked a bit about it and i feel like it was a perfect way for Tsuzuru to have.... a little closure, for now, at least. Like, it opens new door, but at least he knows his friend is at his reach, and will cheer for him, and he can put much more in his plays as messages for him. Just man. So good.....

I honestly adore the idea of him getting bouquets and letters from it. Mizuno still refusing to get anything from Tsuzuru but constantly sending things over and stuff. God i love this so much. AND YEAH i love how the Dandellion worked for Tsuzuru's character. Both the idea that it's common, like "lower class" like Tsuzuru can just go and pick them up, but it's a good luck charm, it's about blowing wishes to the wind and hoping it will reach those wishes. It's so soft and fit those two so much.

And god that play....!!! just so damn sad. The connection between those charas are so mcuh sobs. I love that... i love that you often come out of those plays feeling just as much for the characters in the play than the charas we already know and love. It's just such a good writing...!

ooh extended play is such a neat idea omg!!! And omg yeah i LOVE this image too!! Yuki is just a hero, a god being in term of costuming, i believe in him.

The music for this event is so damn good. The instrumental is beautiful, the song itself makes me cry so much it's one of my most skipped song with Don't Cry due to the clear "please i don't want to cry today". A WONDERFUL song! i'm just too much of an emotional wreck for it. And omg same, i love steampunk, the design for those outfits was SO good!!!

IT was, as always, a blast to read your thoughts, thank you for sharing <3333 It reminds me again of how much i loved those stories.... a3 so good...

[3.01] legacies, why?

first off, why is Alyssa still a student?

she legit sent the headmaster and his daughters to a dangerous prison world because of some rivalry of mean girl-ness with Lizzie?

well, she also did discover the prison worlds when she was a kid and Alaric and Emma mind wiped her or something which left her with a bad impression on them both since they threatened to send her there because of ‘bad behavior’ likeeeee which is why she included him in the spell but she endangered two *at the moment* innocent teenagers cuz of a damn rivalry, she wasn't taken over by dark magic or anything that was all her, she coulda just sent Alaric and Emma if she were there too

then again, one could also ask why the fuck is Josie still a student when she literally killed another one and attempted to kill her own sister too. we'll get to her later

i hope Kaleb and Jed just stay friends that eventually turns into a relationship bc i cant handle them fighting over this toxic undeserving girl

Like, pls, don't have them still be into this girl, it isn't a good idea

the worst part of it is she's the only Asian female representation (except for Kaylee, but you know what I mean, Josie is portrayed as white while Alyssa Chang is not) on the show and she's the mean girl everyone hates, like come on people

the only requirment i have for this season is for Hope wolfing out at least once, that's all i ask for this season, not a plot that makes sense, not a lack of superhero bullshit, not even a good villain, just Hope wolfing out
