Just out if curiosity but I've been thinking. I remember reading a post where you explained that when an elementar master has a child, the first born naturally inherits the element and in cases like with nya and kai, the element that has more importance such as the core element fire gets inherited first

What if two elemental masters whose elements are of equal importance, let's say idk form and smoke, have a child? Which element has priority? Would the same apply with core elements such as ice and earth?

Also if lloyd someday became a parent could the child potentially inherit an essence before the green element? I do remember that you said that garmadon intially had the green element in his genes but it was surpressed by the essence and later lloyd got it. Would lloyd in that same logic have the essences? Would a child of his also therefore inherit the an essence first?

Between two Derivative Elements it doesn't matter; whichever one pops up first is random. If the second EM is Surprise, however, then it's always going to be the other Derivative (since Surprise doesn't pass through bloodlines).

Should there be a child between, for example, Ice and Earth, it depends on the season the child is born. Closer to/Within Winter = Ice, Closer to/Within Spring = Earth. So Spring/Summer would yield an Earth baby first and Fall/Winter would yield an Ice Baby first.

Also if lloyd someday became a parent could the child potentially inherit an essence before the green element? -> Yes, because unless the child has the ideal genetic makeup required to wield the Green Element to begin with (which they probably won't if Lloyd gets with a 100% human), then the Essence of Destruction would take priority in that child.

Reason I'm asking is because I was thinking of all the ninjago oc artists with their whole fan next gen -> Variety is the spice of life, and I'm sure anyone bold enough to have a next gen oc or two (who I salute for the bravery) has their own lore and twists and explanations for inheritance that I'm sure are highly fascinating *v* (ooor they're just going off of ~the vibes,~ which hey, simplicity is a virtue too. Why be complicated if you don't want to be?)

Ninjago OC — Zeta: Design Concept

Hello fellow people of the Ninjago fandom! It is I, Darky, and I have returned with more information on my OC, Zeta the Oni Commander! Well, former commander. If you want to know why she’s a former commander, check out my previous post and then come back over here.

Suffice to say, I did not return alone. In fact, I returned with some concept designs, and I am about to go through my thought process on designing the Oni.

Here’s are some of Zeta’s concepts!

Woo boy, five concepts. Usually three are my go-to when I design humans. I think having a non-human character meant I could crazy as much as I want and not have to worry about the logic of how hair is supposed to work on the head.

A lot of these concepts were just playing around with what I could get from my reference pictures (Mystake, The Omega, and the two Oni mini figures that have no names). I had to look how up to draw tusks as well. I played around with the color schemes, tried different eye shapes and eye markings. I wanted to see what fits.

I showed these concepts to a friend of mine and he really liked the bottom right one. He said it fits the sweet spot of being humanoid and being non-human. And while I agreed with him, I didn’t quite like how the eyes looked for that one nor did I like the color scheme. I ended up using the eye shape from the top right one and the color scheme of the top left one.

Boy, did I love the results.

Above are just test sketches of Zeta. I wanted to be very sure if this is the design I wanted to go forward it. Sketching her being angry really sold it for me. Please enjoy my notes on the picture and uh… Please don’t mind the curse frog up there.

Now, onto the clothing concept!

Now, remember how I mentioned Zeta was a Commander for a section of the Oni army? Yeah, there are not enough mini figures for the Onis! There were only two, so I had to use those and Mystaké as inspiration! I don’t know how well this read as a deadly Oni warrior, then as a rugged warrior living on the lamb but I did my best. And hey, I really like how she turned out.

And yes, she has four arms. Why? Because thanks to @sunnylighter‘s fic (also hello, don’t mind me please), I now feel obligated to think of Movie Counterparts for any of my Ninjago OCs. With Zeta, I thought it would be hilarious for there to be a joke where Lloyd ends up having his mom’s taste; a person with four arms and looks humanoid. If you guys want, I can talk about Movie!Zeta as well.
