Random game idea that came to mind: clockwork man simulator

I dunno, i just got the general image in my head of a soft homey aesthetic equivelant of that terrible game about the androids. Itd be more like just a life-living game, like stuff like animal crossing or harvest moon. Just fully exploring the perspective of these creatures and the world that created them, rather than BOOM ACTION SETPIECES or whatever

I only have some scattered ideas for it tho, and not really any idea of a main plot or gameplay gimmick or 3 act structure or like.. Anything to take this from idea to game, lol.

SO ITS MISC IDEAS TIME

* more of an olden timey fantasy style instead of sci fi. Youre still an artificial person created to run errands for humans, but youre more of a combination of clockwork and magic. There's still an element of being made of inanimate object parts but there's also some glowy energy core or something. Possibly would be interesting if it was something unusual to use as a power source? Like i dunno, a bell or an acorn or a teacup or one of those rocks with the hole in it that sometimes wash up on beaches. Or just a glowy orb of Generically Defined Energy Substance, which flows through you like aesthetically pleasing glowy veins

* you're a service clockwork homunculus thingy, bought by a disabled person who needs help around the house. PERHAPS A SWEET OLD GRANDMA! Whatever i decide on (IT'LL PROBABLY BE THE GRANDMA), your owner is a kind person who sees you as part of the family and feels guilty using an android as they believe you are absolutely a real person and wish they could set you free. Unfortunately theyre kinda one of the people who needs androids the most, as they dont have any family who can help them. At the same time though, they are very old and quite resigned to nobody caring about them, plus theyre just a good person who'd put your life over their own. So i feel like the plot would literally start with this person trying to set you free and you are just like "i do npt understand the concept, that is not in my programming". Its become kind of a morning routine now to hear "youre free! Get out, dammit!" and have a brisk argument over breakfast that inevitably always ends with you refusing. Grandma's prpbably got so desperate they're resorting to tactics like trying to trick you into getting on the bus out of town or "if you dont leave im gonna hold my breath and i wont stop til i pass out". All inevitabley failing! So they just try and help you understand your sentience and become more independant, encouraging you to take free time every day and go around the town to enjoy yourself. Which is kinda a concept you dont understand yet, so its just like MISSION RECEIVED: WALK IN CIRCLE AROUND PERIMETER OF TOWN. And its kind of a hit and miss experience because the people in this town have never seen an android before- this magic is usually a thing for rich people and this proposed scheme of disability assistance androids is still in its test run. Some people are suspicious or hateful, but there are others who welcome you to the village and brighten up your day. Not just a world of 100% everyone assholes to make a melodramatic point delivered awfully through racist stereotypes.

* i think a good subplot with this disabled grandma would be to show her regaining her independance too. Like she starts off quite fatalistic and used to nobody caring about her, all this mobility aid stuff is new and she feels like its too complicated and she'll never get it, or its too expensive and she doesnt deserve it, or all the nonsense that ableist society drills into people. But with the support of her new friend and access to more tools to help take her life into her own hands, she starts regaining hope again! Like ironically she felt like her previous carers were all the kinds of awful things people expect these androids to be. Robotic, emotionless monsters who dont care about the person's feelings and comfort, and certainly not independance. She suffered from a lot of the same nightmares that androids do too: being forced into a rigid schedule, limited in her options, deprived of basic rights, being told how she's supposed to feel, etc. But to an android that all seems like an inefficient way to do things! My function is healing and human healing efficiency is decreased in this circumstance! I am incapable of ignoring data due to personal bias! Basically imagine MAGIC BAYMAX ok. Anyway this plot would progress with grandma regaining her smile and eventually itd be a super happy day when she's able to get her new wheelchair that she can wheel to the shops on her own without needing someone to push her. Itd be really sweet from the player's perspective to get used to saying goodbye to her every morning and then suddenly you see her wandering around the shops with everyone else and she can become a part of the vibrant town too. Im thinking give her more complex AI than all the other villagers even, like give her a more complicated set of actions and move routes and stuff like SHE IS EVERYWHERE and she is LOVING IT! Life is back where it belongs: in the hands of the person living it! And it also intensifies the message of android slavery not being necessary or moral or good. Like i mean here this lady benefitted from getting an android but literally all she needed was a friend, a healthcare professional who gave a shit, and affordable access to mobility aids. Humans could have done that if they werent lazy assholes! And this android deserves the right to the same uplifting independenceifying experience they helped this grandma have!!

* random idea: all the events you encounter on each daily walk are actually stored in your inventory as items. Memories of experiences, good or bad, become literally experience for you! They each affect stats in different ways because of what you learned from that moment. Maybe bad experiences give you combat abilities and good ones help with your daily life skills and development of personality? And its possible to crack or even shatter a memory, if new experiences end up clashing with it. Usually its just 'oh i learned the more advanced version of this skill through better understanding of why humans do it', but also traumatic memories damaging good ones, and good ones helping ease traumatic ones. And maybe you could solve puzzles and make friendships through using these memory items? Youre faced with a challenge and have to make the connections in your mind to figure out which past experience is relevant here. And becoming more talented at something would help narrow down the choices you get given? And being unskilled would do screwy stuff with the interface like putting the correct option far away near the bottom or mixing up the names and icons of each memory. (Dunno how i'd program that though!)

* Maybe character customization similar to Medabots? The games were so cool and ahead of their time, you get to collect hundreds of different robot base frames and then mix and match the parts to make your own cool aesthetic! Shame it was only used for fighting though, that could be cool in a more social game too! Like go out wearing different fashions to help befriend different people, but its more fun cos its ROBOT FASHIONS! 'hey grandma do u think fred will like this arm or this arm?' She fusses over you all excitedly cos you showing an interest in fashion is a good sign of developing free will! Though you still get stuck in logic loops of 'you should wear what you like best, honey' 'HUMAN OPINION IS OF HIGHER PRIORITY' ...god i think i just made this character so i can ramble Relateable Social Anxiety Moments BUT ROBOTS

* possible ideas for Memory Events you can find around town! Meeting a cute neighbour cat- a fascinating creature you were not programmed to deal with, as you're a hospital android who isnt even meant to leave one single room for your whole life. You get absolutely entranced by the confusing small carpet with legs, and spend all morning interrogating it on why it wishes to rub its face on you. Why is your motor overheating, tiny carpet? Human master, how do you troubleshoot this noise?

* Another idea! You get 'mission: count the steps on the stairs to town' popping out of nowhere, and at first you ignore it because this is an illogical directive that does not come from a human. But it keeps happening every time you go here!! You try finding new ways to get to town crossing through fields or forests or walking directly into the path of a horsedrawn carriage, but ALAS it seems the only efficient path is those curious curious steps! Only then do you finally realise the mystery command is coming from yourself! You're not used to this strange concept of just..wanting to do something, all by yourself. You talk to your human and she says that's 'natural curiosity', 'personality', 'free will'...things that seem impossible to understand. You ask her to take you back to the shop to get this fault fixed, but she says its good and you should try acting on it. But it'll serve no purpose!! BUT AAARGH I HAVE TO KEEP SEEING THOSE STEPS EVERYDAY!! Eventually you do count them and you find it makes you satisfied for no logical reason. And that was the end of that small crisis, but you'll forever be confused by the whole thing! The next week you're like "what if i organized all the blue things with the blue things" and youre intensely frustrated at yourself. Human grandma says this is a "taste for fashion" but you remind her that you do not have a tongue. (And then she gets you the robo parts catalog and you unlock customization. Yay!)

* Possible idea for a sad subplot! A new human visits the village and he seems very strange, sometimes seeming kind and other times being angry and standoffish. You think its a simple 'jerk with a heart of gold' story but the truth is a lot stranger! It turns out this stranger is actually an important bishop in disguise, and he has multiple androids acting as body doubles to protect him while he's on the road. Theyre supposed to just be empty husks who only know how to imitate, but they clearly have their own personalities! You're tasked with finding all these runaway androids and returning them to their master for a reward, leading to a goofy lil game of hide and seek with twelve of the same guy. But it starts to get a bit sad because they're all convinced theyre the real one, and whenever they stumble into holes in their memory they freak out. When they all see each other gathered together its an absolute despair explosion and theyre forced to face the truth. And you can help them bond together as brothers and develop their own individual identities, even helping them pick out their own new faces from your set of fashion roboparts. Sadly you cant keep them here for long because itd obviously be suspicious to have exactly twelve new people move into the town right when twelve bots went missing. So you get help from one of grandma's friends to send them off in a stagecoach to another town where they can find employment and start their own life disguised as humans. The asshole bishop obviously doesnt react well to his androids vanishing into the night, but he never thinks of blaming you because after all you're only an android and you could never choose to help others out of all that free will you dont have. He just berates you for being so incompetant as to fail his quest to find them, and you get your reward taken back. Oh no~ i am~ very ashamed~ i will go tell my human that my ocular circuits require recalibrating~ (internally: HAHA YEH FUCK U OLD MAN) Grandma is super proud of you!

Episode 1 - “Matt won’t ever betray me” - Matt E

Coming into this game I'm going to try and make social connections with everyone on tribe and make them feel that "Matt won't ever betray me". I want to be seen as a valuable number. Once that is accomplished we will go from there.

I hit the beach on Day 1 and I decide to start focusing on creating social bonds. I want everybody to see me as somebody they want to keep around. The key is finding common interests with each player. Dan likes to talk about school, well guess who all of a sudden has an interest in school talk? I DO! Eric likes Kpop, well guess who all of a sudden has taken an interest in Kpop? Well, actually I don't know a thing about Kpop, nor do I care to, so I'll have to find something else to bond with Eric over. But you get the picture. The more people tell you about themselves the more connected they feel to you. Its part of the way humans work. You subconsciously tell yourself "I must like this person because I am revealing myself to them". My first impression of the tribe is that I really like Dan, Crow and Luke. Dan lives half an hour from me in an area I grew up in (though hes not from the area himself), Crow has a humor to him that I enjoy. Luke is easy to talk to. Adam I don't have an opinion of. Eric seems a little dense and a bit annoying, however he does seem super active. Kyle annoys me as he is inactive and always has a negative energy to him. The first reward challenge comes along. Winter bells. Bunnies jumping on bells like it should be. I don't really care to win the first challenge but I want to put a good showing in just in case the scores get posted. I get to half a million points (which took longer than I wish to admit) and decided thats good enough. I figured the winner would have 1 million, maybe 2 million. Well was I wrong. I don't know how some of these people scored so high, especially Andreas who scored a number so high I'm too lazy to type it all out. So Dan, being the stand up dude that he is, decides to take a challenge advantage for the tribe instead of what I assume would have been a personal advantage. Thats the kind of person I want to work with; somebody who puts other people before themselves... because I'll be more than happy to slide in front of him and take his spot when push comes to shove. Maybe the nice guy thing is an act on his part and if it is touche to him. When the immunity challenge is announced I find that the tribe is in total disarray. We have to plan this thing out if we want to win but nobody seems to care. I didn't want to be the person leading the charge but fuck it if we want to win we need some order and I get us to pick a time. Its the morning before the challenge when Crow comes up to me. He says he has a good feeling about me and wants to work together. I say sure, as he was somebody I wanted to work with anyways. He then asks if itd be cool to bring Eric in. Now I'm not a huge fan of Eric at this point but what am I going to say? Thanks for bringing me in but I don't want to bring in the other person I know you've been talking to. No, of course I can't say. I just smile and say yes. Well come to find out these two motherfuckers have pretty much already found an idol. They know how to find an idol and they have a clue on how to open the chest the idol is in. However they are trying to find dates that link up with the Great Lakes. There are only 999 choices, lets just power through them. They think this task is too daunting so I start on my own. Eric jumps in after a while (I had already gone through 300) and within 10 minutes Eric comes across the correct combination. And there it is.. an idol. I may have had the chance to snatch it up from out under his nose (maybe not, but I think I had a chance if I tried to do it quick) but I decide to let him celebrate the win. Without him and Crow I never would've been close to finding the idol anyways. After talking with Eric and Crow some more I'm starting to think Eric isn't a bad kid. I still wont be having any Kpop conversations with him but perhaps we can forge an amazing alliance together. I manage to see the entire idol post before he claimed it so I know that super idols are in play if you put two idols together. One idol down, one to go. At the challenge Dan steps up again and organizes the tribe during the challenge. This made me happier to no end because I hate being the one that has to do the organizing so I'll happily take a step to the side. The challenge goes well and we finish it without a single mistake. Add in the 10 minute deduction we get from Dan getting the tribal challenge advantage and we put together a score that would be very hard to beat. And, as it turned out, the score was too hard to beat as we won pretty dominantly. One challenge down, one win in my pocket. It can't get much better than this. I decide to go to the shoreline and find two of my tribe mates already there (Dan and Luke). They tell me where they've searched so I know not to look there. I get pretty far down a line before I take a wrong turn and end up with a smelly fish instead of a clue to an idol. Bummer. Then Dana comes along and this is my first chance to talk to somebody from another tribe. Dana is a member of the returnee tribe and after asking some questions she very easily says that there should be an easy vote against Stoner tonight since he isn't as active. To make the situation a little more awkward Stoner shows up a couple minutes later, right after Dana says he is going to be the first boot. Stoner comes in like a bull in a china shop saying how everybody on his tribe wants him out and hes in big trouble (right in front of Dana mind you). Well it seems Stoner got a stroke of luck and pulled out part of a chest combination. He says he got a number with some xs. I know what this means and what to do with it however its clear he has no idea. Now I want Stoner to stay for two reasons. 1. He isn't as active so by him staying it helps our tribe win immunities. 2. More importantly Stoner is my friend. There was a twist when he returned that he got to choose 2 friends that hadn't played the series before to come on with him. Now I'm not sure if we are the only ones who are friend or if the game is filled with 7 threesomes but I'm keeping my eye open just in case. Now my two tribe members leave the shoreline and I decide I need to tell Stoner how to look for the idol. However Dana is standing right there so I have to speak in code. I post the url for the tumblr and follow it up on the next line with an xxxx saying it isnt working and im trying to make a dead face emoji. Now this is something a little out of the blue and odd.. but if you don't know any better I'm hoping you look right past it. However I ask Stoner if he understands what I'm saying and he replies "I think so". I'm hoping beyond hope that he did understand my code and pulls an idol out. If he takes out their challenge beast Andreas in the process I'd be extra grateful but I have no control over that. I would rather have that potential idol for myself (and have the ability to use it to form a super idol) but Stoner never told me what the number was, or where it was in the sequence, so no luck there. My alliance (Crow, Eric and I) have decided that we want to bring Dan into the fold and are in the process of finding the right time to float the idea by him. That would give us a majority of 4 with 4 solid players and an idol. We said we aren't going to tell Dan about the idol yet but may disclose that information in the near future.

I am so excited to play! I really hope that we can send the veterans to tribal. I don't want a newbie and especially not me being the first boot. Let someone who already played before be eliminated first.

I talked to Crow and it seems we have a lot in common! Right now if I had my pick of a ride-or-die, it would be Crow.

I don't think I won the individual reward, but hopefully this note can help us even if it's an individual reward. I've said this already, but a newbie shouldn't be a first boot. We should get a shot to play. :)

I am glad that Dan picked to help the tribe instead of an idol clue. It shows his heart is with the tribe and not with himself, and hopefully that can give us good karma and we can win the first immunity challenge and show how good we can be.

So apparently some multi-tribe alliance formed at the shoreline between crow, kage, bodhi, christian and myself. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that after watching Tocantins and seeing that multi-tribe alliance go down in flames. But since I am already apart of it, I will have to trust the members from the other tribe even though we don't really talk. And after discussing the reward, the other tribe has Matt to worry about, and he probably took the clue because he didn't tell his tribe about the challenge advantage. I don't know what to think going into the rest of this, so I am hoping that we beat the other two tribes and stay safe because I DO NOT wanna be the first eliminated.

After Crow told me that the 4 digit combo might have something to do with the history of the great lakes or something around it, i decided to do lots of research on the great lakes and maybe years or like square miles that had 9 as the 3rd digit and there are 4 digits. this will take a long time but I REALLY want this advantage because I'm not sure if im in trouble if we lose.

OH MY GOD. *unwraps advantage* I can't believe I found the super idol! The trust has to stay between Crow, Matt E and myself. We worked together to find the idol, and that we did. I am so proud of us and hopefully we can stick together

In the immunity challenge, Dan quickly took charge, which I was glad of. He was doing a great job of tracking when our turns were, and we stayed focused on the goal. Just where is ribsor (idk if ribsor is kyle or not)?

I'm so happy we won! We showed these vets that us newbies can play too, and we can play harder and better. Final 7 baby!

I'm really glad that Crow asked Mearl to be apart of the Gallaghers. He has the same mindset as me in wanting to strategize and show everyone what you can do for an alliance, but I would rather let him and Crow do more work than me for now so I don't have anything to fix if I make it to the merge.

Even though it's none of my concern, I couldn't help but think who might be voted out from each tribe.

i am shook that like 4 of these people have only been in the community for like a week or haven't played a game at all and then there's me sitting here with like 8 seasons under my belt including one win...i am gagging

My tribe is probably already irritated with me, whoops... I warned everyone that I was socially inept....

2.5 hours in.....no alliance proposals, I'm getting nervous. Have I already isolated myself? ......I thought I was doing so well!

I'm trying so hard to relate to people's likes and dislikes.....Eric an his KPOP and Shameless, Luke with his Forensic Science major, and Kyle with his social awkwardness. I hope it's working out...

Ok, real talk: There's strategy behind my bubbly, awkward, cheerful personality. I'm trying to establish a high social rank early because lord knows I cannot climb a social ladder from the bottom to literally save my life in the game! My number 1 rule in Survivor is to always make people underestimate you because that allows me to not only evade a target, but also to have various strategic opportunities at various times! That's my only long-term strategy though - I like to play the game day-by-day because there's too many variables to accurately decide on a concrete path to victory from the get-go!

Alright, I've gotten into the strategic scene (finally!). I am aligned with Eric in "The Gallaghers" and then separately with Kyle. I got to talk to both Matt and Adam and actually found out Adam and I were from the same state! (yes, a connection!) so I'm hoping I'm setting myself up well to survive these early rounds. I plan on going to Shoreline soon to try and figure it out, but it seems either no one wants to talk about it or no one really cares. I don't think it's the latter, these people seem pretty bright. For now, I just need to keep strengthening my social ties and remain on guard.

So I visited Shoreline to meet Kage from the other newbie tribe...he seems...shady? I get a weird vibe from him. Immediately wanting a cross-tribal alliance after like 5 minutes? Eek, I'll say yes with my fingers crossed behind my back for this one...

So I searched Shoreline to find a weird rock with a weird marking. I told Eric about it to build trust and I'm contemplating telling Kyle about it too. I need to find stable, strong allies. Quality over quantity for me!

I'm talking to Kage and I'm slowly building trust. Do I trust him more than my allies on my tribe? No. But a tribe swap is inevitable, especially after an early double elim, so I gotta take some risks. There's really no incentive for him to blow up my game considering he's given me some info as well (plus I'm no special threat to him) so I'll proceed with caution for now.

Okay with Eric and I working together, we know there's a chest with a 4-digit combo and the 3rd number is 9.....so I looked up dates regarding the Great Lakes and submitted a guess. It's a long-shot, but hey, why not?!

Alright the first challenge is over! I did extremely well - stayed with it start from the end, and the best part....I don't get labeled as a physical threat or leader. Nobody seemed to notice I was the only one to drink from start to end. Plus, tension occurred with Kyle and nearly everyone, and I LOVE tension (that doesn't include me). Dan gets the leader target/responsibility and Kyle gets the bottom link on the totem pole while I seem to be sitting nice in a #2 or #3 spot. I want us to win of course, but I have a good idea I'm safe even if we do lose!

I want to always be the one to lowkey invite people into a group alliance because I think it helps my one-on-one bond with them from the get-go, as if I'm the one that suggested them (which isn't the case lol). Plus I can get a sense of where I stand with them as I ask the two questions 1. "Do you wanna work with me?" 2. "Okay great! Do you wanna work with [insert names] too?" And if they answer Yes to both, great. But if they don't say yes to the 2nd, oh well! Guess I'll just work with him solo.....I mean, y'all told me to talk to him, right? ;P

woow my first confessional.i totally hope I make it far. It's hard for my acerbic personality to not come out. i'm really an honest person so it's really hard to lie. so far no one has offered any alliance or deals with me but I plan on making some final 2s off the bat cause it would be kind of funny.

This is going to be one mess of a season (But not because of the redemption twist) First I was a little late to the cast reveal when I was added but I don't think anything eventful happened so that's good. Compared to other games I've played it seems a lot less personal and slow-paced. I don't want to play hard because that's too much damn work for me so I'm probably just gonna be boring ass UTR like I usually do. I also recognized Christian from T******d and also Chris Stoner too??? Like wtf first I recognize 3 people in India from Wikia games but now this? What have I done to deserve this premade hell omg My opinion on my tribe isn't really much interesting so far. Everyone besides Matt, Christian and myself are still in HS or something like that and I'm getting a terrible feeling because of that. I don't think we're that strong in challenges either but I'll still try my hardest.

This tribe is... not the most talkative. I think it's just me reading into social play too much but it just seems like everyone is just 100% pure strategy fiends, which I can roll with for now since I got added to an alliance chat very recently thus I pretty much HAVE to go follow it but with the shoreline in play I better see my notifications popping off because this tribe has me skleep!

My score is garbage but it's winterbells, it's the weekend, and it's an individual reward. Those three signs are enough to make me go yeet and back into literally anywhere else in the world. Assuming anyone in my alliance wins then cool, but either way I don't really mind because it's probably something about the Shoreline which is isn't really concerning me since it's Day 2.

I'm pretty sure we're gonna end up losing this challenge and I have no idea who's gonna win between the other two tribes... I'm a bit uneasy about this vote because of lake redemption and since the Odawa Majority alliance is really focused on going to the Shoreline which I don't really have a strong opinion about, I met Julia at the shoreline which was cool I think I've seen her on another community before?

Hi dudes it’s Aidan, here to spill all of the hot gossip from the Odawa tribe! Or, Y’know, how my disaster of a mind see's things For background knowledge, this is my first ORG ever. I have no fucking clue what I’m doing but I’m good at bullshitting my way through shit irl so that’s what I’ll do here. Hopefully, anyway. First of all, I am defiantly the only non-male on this tribe- Yikes. Also, I’m like 90% sure everyone thinks I’m a dude. Tbh I don’t actually care as long as they respect my pronouns but like :////// First impressions!!! Bodhi-I LOVE Bodhi!! We’re both into theatre and we’re already joking about shit together so that’s pretty cool. He seems like a solid dude, and he’s into the punk scene as well. He’s legit my fave person on this tribe, and I’d love to align w/ him in the game. We haven’t talked strategy or anything yet but I’m gonna see how the reward challenge later on plays out before I try and make some alliances Scott- Not as much of a fuckboi as I originally thought. He seems pretty smart (He does a double major like holy shit!!!) and he seems pretty chill as far as I can tell. We’re talking about uni and shit but he seems alright Kage: Kage is talking about other people w/ me I feel so validated this is great. Apparently Ashton tried to make an alliance with him? I am mildly insulted Ashton didn’t ask me for an alliance but I guess I now know to be wary of Ash?? He seems to want to play it chill rn but maybe he’s laying low for now Ashton: He seems a like pretty cool dude, he’s played a bunch of ORGs before but never on skype/tumblr, bUT APPARENTLY THIS LIL SHIT IS ALREADY TRYING TO MAKE ALLIANCES LIKE BINCH IT HAS BEEN THREE HOURS Matt: I’m waiting until like a normal human time for americans to talk to him (I passed out at like 4am last night and didn’t talk to him whoops) but his intro made him come across as hella cocky and I just cannot be bothered with dealing w/ that shit. I might be wrong about him but idk Christian: He seems pretty quiet, but also he seems like a pretty chill guy from what I’ve seen . We’ve spoken a little bit and apparently he’s also completely new to this, even though I’m continuing to bullshit and am pretending I have actually played an ORG before.

Okay so, day 2 of Great Lakes!! I’ve been talking to Bodhi about ORGs and stuff for a couple of hours, and he’s definitely the person I feel the best about in this tribe. I’m kinda indifferent on Christian and I don’t think Matt’s been online too much, because I still haven’t seen him online apart from a couple of minutes last night. Kage is still chill, and Scott’s still a good bro. I haven’t seen Ashton online today so idk So, I know a little bit about Bodhi’s play style now. He relies a lot on his social game when he plays ORGs, which I suppose is why he’s the person I’ve talked to most on the tribe, bc he’s trying to make connections or smth idk. But, according to him (which at this point is questionable, I don’t know for sure what he’s saying has any actual truth behind it so far) he’s pretty decent in the physical side of stuff as well, he says he won a couple of individual immunities in his other ORGs. If this is true, I definitely want him on my side. Anyone who can prove a social and physical threat is absolutely somebody you want with you, not against you *** (OKAY I FORGOT TO SUBMIT THE ABOVE SO NOW IT’S ONE CONFESSIONAL FUCK IM BAD AT THIS) SO, STUFF HAS HAPPENED!!! Basically, Bodhi messaged me and was like “Yo, Kage wants an alliance between me, you, him and Scott. You in?” and I was like “Uh, Hell yeah!” This is pretty much /the/ dream alliance for me at the moment, these are the four people I’ve gotten the best feelings about on the tribe and us having a majority would be a w e s o m e. Me and Bodhi talked about it a little and basically we both said that we both wanted to work with each other and Scott, but the only we aren’t really sure about Kage atm, bc we don’t know how he’s gonna play, like if he’s gonna be chill or if he’s gonna try and make really unnecessary big moves. But, y’know what they say, keep your friends close, and people that might make big moves closer. So me and Bodhi have both said yes to Kage, so we have an alliance of three at least. We’re waiting to see what Scott says but I don’t think he’s been online today, or at least I haven’t seen him. But I figure he’ll probably say yes. I mean, who the hell says no to a majority alliance? We’ve got a reward challenge in about three hours now? I think maybe idk time conversion is hard but I’m looking forward to it. It’s a good test of how our tribe works together without the pressure of having to go to tribal if we monumentally fuck it up. I think it’ll be fun.

Being on a tribe w/ all Americans is rough man. It’s like 5pm and I haven’t seen anybody online all day yikes. Although when school starts up again it’s gonna be pretty good bc I won’t actually miss anything when I’m stuck in the sixth circle of hell for several hours every day I submitted my score for the reward challenge last night and I think I actually have a pretty good chance of getting my hands on the note, mostly because most of my tribe don’t actually care about the challenge lmao Bodhi has a score of like 3000 which I’ve crushed and if I’m remembering right I think my score was higher than the one Scott submitted. I have no idea about anybody else’s score but I think my score is pretty good so i can just hope for the best I was gonna check out the shoreline about now but it dawned on me that the note is probably an idol clue or at least a clue to something you can find, so I’m probably going to end up going when the results get announced, which is at like 1am rip my sleep schedule omg

THIS GOT UGLY REAL FAST Y’ALL Okay, so I didn’t win reward and I probably sound like a bit of a prick in my past confessionals bc of that fact, but, not all is lost! Kage, the real mvp of the alliance at the moment bless his heart, says “I bet I could make a fake alliance with matt and get the note” and what do you fucking know, not 5 minutes later, Kage has the note and has shown all of us. It’s a choice between a way to get to an idol and a tribe advantage for the immunity. He chose idol So, now we all know everything Matt does, but we also know that he’s a total wanker who values himself over the tribe. GG Matt, GG. So, I don't know how to start one of these but let's just jump right into it. So far, I've kinda threw Ashton under the bus with half the tribe. I spoke like two words to him and then spread rupees that he's playing the game really hard. Me, Aidan, Scott, and Bodhi are slowly getting an alliance of us four. My goal is to get Ashton gone asap so that word doesn't get back around to him. Anyway, if I have to throw the next immunity I will.

I'm not doing much today. I'm trying to hold back from strategizing too much because I've already targeted Ashton for doing that (which he never did). As far as I know the four of myself, Aidan, Scot, and Bodhi is pretty solid. I'm not participatinin this first reward challenge for reasons I'm too lazy to go into detail about. I don't know why I'm targeting Ashton, but it seems I've convinced my alliance he's evil. I predict Ashton will be the first from our tribe to be voted out, but who knows, it could be me.

Ok, so I guess I am doing stuff today. I made an alliance with Christian, and another with Ashton. I'm just working with Ashton to make him choose a bad path on the shoreline like I did. Christian however, I think he could be the golden goose for me if I'm ever in a tight situation. And that other guy pffttf who cares. I still can't decide if I want to throw the first immunity or not

Ok, so where to begin? I told Matt that I found an advantage. It was going to prevent Matt from voting for me but my plan kinda got busted by one of the hosts. We managed to salvage it but my original plan was too sketchy now so I just made up some extra vote thing to build trust. I guess, I should switch my target to Matt since he's probably a little weary of me now. Also my relationship with Ashton is growing so he can stay a little while longer. Right now my biggest threat is either Matt or Isaiah, I can't decide.

Holy crap! This could not have worked out for me any better! Matt won reward! Since I gave him an "extra vote" I'm expecting him to share the clue with me. Then again, since he's my primary target if it's a good clue I might have to switch back to Ashton. I still don't know if Matt fully trusts me or not.

Oh god! I wasn't expecting to do this many confessionals. Sorry BTW. It's just this game is moving fast and I feel I should keep you up to date. Anyway, I got the note from Matt and gave it to the foursome to build trust and put a target on Matt's back. I'm also building up the target on him with Chris and Ashton.

WOW! I cannot believe how bad we did last night! We had to restart like 6 times, eventually everyone just gave up and went to bed. Midway through the challenge last night I accidentally sent a message talking about how we're getting rid of Ashton or Matt to the public chat. Luckily I think I deleted it before either of them seen it. I think we're going to stick with Matt because he did prectiacally nothing in the immunity (compared to Ashton).

Ok, on The Shoreline I met Crow from the lee newbie tribe. We talked and decided to make a cross tribe alliance. It was going to be Crow and Eric from their tribe. Christian and I from our tribe. However, Bodhi jumped into the chat before I could get Chris on with the plan. This forced me to include Bodhi instead of Chris. I didn't want to do this because I feel he is too attached to the original four of Him, Aidan, Scott, and I. My current plan is to get Bodhi, Aidan, and Scott to vote for Matt. Then tell Christian to also vote for Matt. Then, separately, tell Ashton and Matt to vote for Aidan. So Ashton would think the second vote for Aidan was me and same with Matt. I can tell Chris one of the others flipped. I don't know if you understand this but it's basically a way to vote out Matt and still have him on my side.

Ok, NEW PLAN. Ashton does not want to vote out Aidan so I'm just getting everyone to vote Ashton. No more nonsense.

Me, Ashton, and Aidan have a fake alliance together. Personally, I kinda hoped Matt would drop out because of his family emergency. Ya know, better chances for me haha. Plus he might be making this up to get sympathy. My primary target is still Ashton

I'm feeling relatively good about my starting tribe! Right off the bat, Aidan and I hit it off. We both have experience in theater, and have been a part of our own local punk scenes. We're both 16, and I think that we think in similar ways based on our conversations. I don't think he'd make a great ally in the long run, but I'm not letting him know that. He seems like he has a very good understanding of strategy, but it's fairly obvious that he does, so I doubt he'll go too far. He seems like an early merge boot, but I wouldn't mind him sticking around for later. I just have to make him think that I'm sticking with him, and he'll bring me along until its his time to go. He's one of the ideal people for me to be with right now considering the game I want to play, so I'm going to continue to foster this relationship! Ashton seems cool enough, but I've heard from Kage that he's trying to get an alliance together already. I don't really trust either of those two, but I like them well enough. Ashton's bio shows that he doesn't really care if people perceive him as a threat, and he is VERY adamant about how interested in strategy he is. If one person is going to go full out BIG MOVEZ TO WIN THIS GAME, it's going to be Ashton. Kage is an interesting figure on the tribe. I really have no idea if I can trust him. He brought up ideas of someone else trying to start an alliance with him, and I basically just said that I don't want to commit to anything super early. He responded by suggesting a 4 person alliance of myself, Kage, Aidan, and Scott. What a socially inept thing to do. Whatever, I said that it sounded pretty good to me, but made it clear that I wasn't completely committed. The biggest problem with this tribe as of now for me, is that almost everyone blends together as a highschool boy who cares too much about strategy. Theres a few college students, but they're mostly the same as the highschoolers. I'm a highschool boy who cares too much about strategy as well, but I'm gonna try to keep the strategy on the DL. Don't want these dominant forces taking me out! Matt thinks he is much funnier than he is. I think we'll connect just fine, but his bio really rubs me the wrong way. He picked fucking CALEB for his avatar?! And he says that one thing that hurts his trust is when people lie to him. What an obvious goddamn thing to say. There is not a single person on this entire planet who trusts people more because they lie more. I mean sure, there's the whole idea that if you lie to people and then apologize skillfully enough, that builds trust, but the act of lying has NEVER made someone trust someone else more. Scott seems like a really genuine guy. I think he and I are going to play relatively similar games. I opened up about my personal life to him, and I think it'll work out well with us two. One of the first things that he told me was that he works out, and that his muscles are very sore. I respect that he works out, and that he wants to take care of his body, but I think his working out is very ego driven, so I'm going to be stroking that ego of his as much as I can without making it obvious. Didn't even notice that Christian was on our tribe until this morning. Oops.

The game has begun...and I'm ready to get playing. I'm just gonna try and talk to everyone and form some bonds that will keep me safe the first few rounds of the game.

So I've been talking to everyone just random chit chat. But I'm starting to get worried about the lack of strategic talk. Maybe there is no strategy going on right now or maybe there is strategy going on but without me. I hope it's the first one.

The alliance making has begun when Kage approached me with an offer for the two of us to pair up. I like strategy he's more social, I feel like we can compliment eachothers strengths pretty well

So everything is going well in this immunity challenge. Me kage and aiden are going smoothly when suddenly all of it goes to shit. An hour in Aiden messes up and we're almost definitely going to tribal.

So this challenge was a trainwreck and it really looks bad for me, Aidan and Kage. But I'm going to try and use this to my advantage so that I can pull Aidan over to my side.

Surprise. Surprise. We lost the challenge. Now it's time for our first tribal council. I think our best bet is to get rid of Matt because he got that clue to the idol. But I'm sad to see anyone on our tribe go.

Guess who's back and ready to cause some chaos out here in the Great Lakes...? Yeah, not me... but anyway! You have no clue how happy I am to return after my time in Bhutan got cut short. Oddly enough, going out early wasn't so much of a bad thing since I did realize the mistakes I made and the change I want to see in this game. Last time, I was too afraid to make moves and put my ideas on the back-burner for everyone else. This time around, I want to call the shots, be the conductor on the train to the top. Can that happen? Who knows, but I will certainly try :D

Can I just say my tribe is iconic? I love everyone here and have connected to everyone on some sort of level and I just love it! <3 Putting that into a gaming perspective, everyone getting along isn't the best thing ever but a happy tribe means a happy me.

I don't want to toot my own horn, but I do feel like I've established really good relationships with everyone and put myself in a good position. Dana and Andreas have both said I was the only person they've connected to the most and we set some mutual strategic relationship with each other. Carson approached me for an alliance with him due to us being pre-merge flops, which I love. Stoner is my #BhutanBuddy and we have an odd friendship. Emmon and I are really cool with each other and I feel we can connect due to being the youngest people here. The iconic Julia (or Roxy/sex beast) and I have had really good talks, which I appreciate. I honestly feel like a kid in a candy store and all of this is appealing to my sweet tooth. I have no clue what I'm gonna do... ;-;

Oh lordy be, I have really no clue how I stumbled myself in this situation. For those of y'all who likely and shouldn't know who I am, my name is Christian, I'm 18.997, and I'm just very confused right now. I've literally never even been on Tumblr before and honestly just feel like the Sierra Dawn Thomas of this cast. I was literally recruited like 10 minutes before the cast reveal so...I guess there's really nowhere I can go but up? Anyways, this may be my first time on Tumblr, but this sure as heck ain't my first rodeo in the game of Survivor. I've played well enough to know who I am as a player, and be comfortable with myself. I don't need #BIGMOVEZ or #BLINDSIDEZZ!!! to define me as a player. There's going to be people who go out here trying to do and play for the sheer purpose of being a big character. That simply ain't me. I may be the most irrelevant one in this cast, but even the most ugly duckling can grow into a pretty bombass swan. That gon' be me in this game. But I guess I should try talking more about myself so I'm more than that dude with a religion based name. I'm originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, until the Katrina struck and decided destroying houses and lives was fun (zeugma), so I moved to a less hurricane-friendly state aka Texas, and have happily lived in San Antonio ever since. Moved to Dallas to go to college this year so that's dope as heck. I've been described as a Southerner through and through, well minus the wack political views I guess. I sound like I fell off the hick bus, I use the word y'all more than my cell phone, and I think of myself as a pretty nice dude. I'm not gon' get in faces and scream at people, but if people start yellin' at me, you bet yo ass I ain't going to sit down and take it. I'm fully capable of defending myself, and my knowledge in English rhetoric is useful for both destroying arguments and making people regret the moment they decided to take their keyboard swords to me! Anyways, my main "strategy" if you can even call it that at the moment is just to try to get to know these people. Too many people view this game as playing with numbers, pawns, and other inanimate objects. The thing is folks, we be playing with LIVING BREATHING HUMAN BEANS. More often than not, you actually try to get to know people, and it benefits you more often than something like "ALLIANCE NUMBERS VOTES VOTES VOTES IMMUNITY!". Last thing I just wanted to rant about was the age of these people. Like NOTHING AT ALL AGAINST YOUNG PEOPLE, but I feel so old oh my lord! I thought 18 (nearly 19) was young, but then I'm seeing like 13/14/15 and I'm just wondering if I'll even be able to connect with them. I feel like the world's youngest grandpa, and Lord knows I sure as heck was a different person when I was that age, so I'm just hoping and praying to the Big Dude upstairs that I somehow can manage to work myself into something decent at least. I feel like none of these people like me lol. I'm trying hard to converse and such and get to know them but all I'm getting is one word responses so OOF that ain't looking good. Time to prepare my body for a likely target if (read: when) we lose this next challenge

Aaaaaaaaaaaand here we go! First of all, I'm just so glad to be back. Its just wild that I can finally play a main season again. I'm ready to prove myself. So I already have a solid alliance! How wild! Augusto and I clicked ALMOST IMMEDIATELY when we talked about what seasons of survivor we've watched live... and it turns out we both started with SJDS. We're both ready for Sandra to murder everyone in Game Changers, we're both huge Natalie Anderson fans, but most importantly we're tired of getting robbed AF. So it only makes sense to align right? Because we both to make the merge in a main season. Its really great I found someone that also has the same approach to games-- they put so much trust into an alliance that it sometimes bites them in the ass. I'm the same way, too trusting for my own good. If we work together then we shouldn't have that problem, or at least in theory. EMMON THE DEMMON HAS RETURNED! I'm so glad I get to work with someone from Uncharted, bc not only is it nostalgic but we were on good terms in until I voted him out (oops). But its ok bc I wasn't the one who orchestrated it. Idk we should be good and I'm really hoping to work with him. It'll be really important to have numbers when the vote can come down to one vote. JULIA IS AMAZING. She's so hilarious omg... Yes, you have to read past the typos but were talking rn and I'm dying of laughter. She's another robbed queen so I'd hope I can add her to my web of allies, but its too early to tell! I still want to see how everyone does in the challenge and wait until we have to go to tribal to make alliances. That way, people won't catch wind of it too early and then have time to do something about it. The others I haven't gotten to talk to much, and I don't feel like analyzing them bc I haven't gotten to know them. If we were going to tribal at this moment in time, I would vote out Andreas because he's played 3 other times, and has done relatively well each time. I'd be able to convince Augusto to vote him bc we literally formed an alliance on the grounds of just getting to a merge. I'd worry though if he is working with him already bc they might know each other already, so I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Wouldnt want to get hasty and throw someones name around before we even go to tribal. Sidenote I havent even met the other tribes but I can already tell from some of their intros that theyre cocky pieces of shits. We better keep this tribe around so they wont just pagong us in a swap or merge nnnnnnnn

I hate that we have this challenge because we need everyone online.... which is nearly impossible at this stage in the game. I mean, at least if we can't complete the challenge we'll know who to boot! But I don't feel like doing that yet. Stoner needs to get his ass online. You're a returnee, act like one! I could just have higher standards than some, but I uphold that title. Keeping people around, even if they're inactive, is huge in the long run. Its literally 14 newbies to 7 returnees, at any point during a swap or merge they could easily put a target on us, simply because we're returnees, and take all of us out. Plus, what if I get blindsided bc someone wouldn't open skype and play the game they signed up for? I'm not about to take risks Day 3. We really need to win this challenge.

Ok, this challenge is actually a mess. We got as low as the 40s and then one person messed up and then everyone started fucking up and it just got a lot worse from there holy shit I can't garhsjhvjsva

Hey it's me the winner of TS: Great Lakes. Or first juror or first boot tbh. So my first impression of everyone on my tribe is largely negative honestly. I only really care about Adam and Luke and the rest of them can choke. Just kidding but I do think kyle is rude. He said he wasn't doing very well so I offered it he needed someone to talk to he could talk to me because I'm a fucking good person. He was like, why are you so obsessed with me???? Fine, I hope your day continues to be as great as you are. Mearl or Matt or whoever that is is so dominant and it's scary, other than that, Eric is annoying and naive and will be used for filth by me, Luke, and Adam

So we won the first immunity challenge which is so lit! I was so worried that I would have fucked something up in the beginning but honestly we stayed organized and on track and slayed. I am happy I took the tribal advantage still because I feel like it really has gained me favor with people like Matt and Crow. Matt and Crow both reached out to me and wanted to talk game which is great.. Kyle and Eric still bug the shit out of me, but they will be easy first boots from the tribe. Additionally, Adam and Luke both searched the shoreline and found 2/4 of the combination lock numbers. However, they found a page on the blog with a combination on it, but the chest had already been claimed that the idol was in. My guess is someone on the other tribe got it, unless someone on my tribe was lucky enough to get two numbers and know what to do with them, which given the knowledge of the game on my tribe, I think that's not as possible.

If it seems surprisingly soon for one of these, that's because it's not a regular one - I did a solo for the human barbarian

also i went back to using d20, because 1. that way everyone knows how to do things, and 2. it means mechanics are in place that create an actual lose state that the players might hit if they get in over their heads, which is important because i think we're all (myself included) mainly interested in fun stuff happening and playing a fun mechanical game, because we're not so great at the roleplaying yet.

anyway here's what happened

so the barbarian was getting bored of being with the party because they fought very little and seemed to have goals not entirely aligned with her "i want to fighty the things" goals so she got up in the middle of the night, took her cat, and ran off towards a mountain that seemed like it could be interesting

along the way she came to a giant mass of black briars, and a temple that looked like it probably went through them, but also was likely a tad infested, but hey seems like fun adventure times, on she went

inside there was this dead weird fantasy version of a liopleurodon, also unicorn statues, also the dead thing was called a serrkeru and it was more accurate to say it was a zombie. And it attacked. But before it could be properly murderated, there was this rumbling noise and the barbarian went out of the temple to see what was up and didn't see much but when she got back it looked like a gianter serrkeru came and ate the one she was dealing with. Oh well

also apparently serrkeru are from a different continent, that was a little fun factoid presented

so she went onwards and ran into this group of humanoid-frog skeletons, and one twig frog effigy, being puppeted by the black briars extending into the temple. the skeleton-puppets were guarding the corpse of a dead unicorn, until they weren't, because the barbarian smashed them to pieces pretty quickly. And then she took the horn, and then discovered that was a good move because the horn was needed to open a magically sealed door preventing further passage. So that door was opened and hooray

but there were like 20+ frog skeleton puppets in the next room and they immediately took notice of her

thankfully, the unicorn horn apparently allowed the barbarian to command the frog skeletons and so she had an army and she marched on with it. And then ran into the giant undead serrkeru that ate the smaller one she wanted to kill. So obviously it was time to murderate it in revenge, with a bunch of puppeted frog skeletons to back her up

anyway so after a very long time the big serrkeru was dead, and most frog skeletons were smashed to pieces, but victory and moving on happened! So the barbarian eventually came to this mud slide with lots of frog corpses and effigies, mostly effigies at the top, and she went up and got covered in mud and scared the frog people who she found at the top. And then her displacer beast came up and also scared them. And then the frog skeletons came up but by that point they were about as scared as they could be already. Also at this point it was revealed the frog-people were bullywogs, but we continued to call them frogs anyway

so after some questioning about desecration of sacred burial grounds, the barbarian asked about if the mountain she was heading towards was any cool, and the bullywogs were like noooo there's giants. you'll die. also political things regarding giants that we're not gonna explain because that'd take time and it'd probably be boring. but basically no, but if you DO want to go to that mountain and fight giants and actually have a chance of survival, there's a giant-hunting guild of sorts over in this city we want to head to

sure this sounds cool, says the barbarian, i want to go to this city so i can come back here and fight giants

and this works out for the bullywogs too, they say, because they've been unable to leave the swamp and go to the town to buy fancy clothes. because they have fancy clothes but they're all very dirty because swamps are dirty. and that's bad. they want good clothes. But the important part is the part where everyone keeps dying when they try to leave, there's always a survivor who comes back and the stories are wildly inconsistent

anyway so the barbarian acts as a bodyguard, and as such gets a free ride in the morning after a long rest that I'll mention later in my retrospective. so the bullywogs get on their boatcart, and two with hooks attached to their tongues shoot them at trees and tug the boat forward because that's an efficient way of travel. also on the boat is a survivor from the last boatcart ride who wants to help point out where The Thing Attacked Them, also a merchant, also a bullywog who just wanted to visit the city.

anyway so they reached the area where they got attacked, the barbarian spots a spear sticking out from behind a tree, the survivor is like "oh no thats it. thats it please go investigate"

so the barbarian prepares to get out of the boatcart but is then pushed out, by the survivor, who upon touching the barbarian morphs into them, complete with axe, because apparently it was actually some sort of shapeshifter. it then murderates one of the hooktongue frogs, the frog who wanted to visit, and uses its black-briar-bones to ensnare the merchant frog but then the merchant frog turned out to be buff and rolled a crit on a strength check and busted out

also this entire time the barbarian's cat was REALLY confused because there were two masters?? what do?? the barbarian's player kept making intelligence rolls to see if the cat figured out what was going on. It did not.

anyway the barbarian human successfully smashed the shapeshifter's face in for a few rounds before the shapeshifter sunk into the swamp and nope'd out. and then the frogs were like "ok lets go on to the town and figure out what that thing is and how to kill it" and the barbarian was like "great cool onwards" and onwards they went

~DING~ SO WHAT WENT WRONG? SOMETHING ALWAYS GOES WRONG.

I didn't actually have the temple part planned. I came up with the idea of commanding a frog army very late in the process, and the giant serrkeru fight, and was just sorta like "aces, cool, great, these combat encounters will be interesting" but really they were just kinda eh? But the player said they had fun, they figured it'd have been different for other players but with just the barbarian, who loved killing things, it was a blast

I HAD TO MAKE TWO RETCONS AND IT UPSETS ME. But they're for the greater good. The first was a fuckup on my part because the long rest sets the timeline up weird, the barbarian SHOULD have immediately gotten on the boatcart but I forgot, whoops.

The second is that we're saying the shapeshifter also cloned the cat too - I already knew it had the capability to clone beyond just the person it touches, since that's how it made the axe and also other items/clothes, but the cat is a stretch but not impossible given how closely tied the barbarian is to her pet. The reason this retcon is important is because the shapeshifter is going to be the one who rejoins the main party to try and trick them into helping find the frogs and kill them. (The shapeshifter is one of many tasked with keeping the denizens of the swamp inside the swamp through murdery means.) There's some extra details in there, but the high-level one there is just, yeah, fake barbarian in the party and the players will have no idea because NONE OF THEM READ MY BLOG, RIGHT? RIGHT? i told you not to read my blog i explicitly told you, you better not, youre only hurting yourself AND ALSO ME

Anyway. Overall it was a frantic flailing solo but it worked out decently. I couldn't do the bullywog voice I practiced - when it came time to do it I just couldn't summon up the will to make my vocal chords behave. But oh well!

Also I need to stop immersion-breaking and poking at my own world as a way to shield myself from criticism. When I told the player the monsters were called serrkeru I immediately started backpedaling and saying But Obviously Unimportant Arbitrary, which, I shouldn't do. I like the name. I like the names I give my stuff, I like taking my stuff seriously.

OH RIGHT ALSO I FUCKED UP i said the black briars were outside the temple waiting to take the frog skeletons with them, but then the player was like "theyre not coming with me right" and i was like (wait, should they? i mean i had plans to have the shapeshifter take command of them and itd be a cool twist moment, but, i guess) "nope they are confined to the temple" and so I mean, *I* know I fucked up there, but the player didn't, so. I just get to sit in solitude and feel like I need to do better

anyway, as a result of the upcoming arc I have been trying out my make-interesting-fights muscles, and there's gonna be a duo with the barbarian's player and the dwarf paladin's player (who will be playing a new character, a monk I think?) which will be a good testing grounds to see if I actually end up with interesting fights, or, if they just end up being... Really cluttered. WHO KNOWS

also I successfully figured out how to make Tinder 'N More feel like a valid part of my canon instead of a one-off joke for the sake I made to appease one of my players asking "where can i find tinder to burn down this dog shelter". I mean, it's still a silly concept that didn't need to be there, but I've taken it seriously enough in integrating it, and it led to a fun character backstory thing/ability idea, so I'm happy with where that is

I think this also counts as my first attempt to, like... steer a player down a certain path. It felt weird, but I think it turned out okay. This was the main feedback I took away from session 4 - i do not know how to do open-world well yet, so, sticking to slightly railroaded. I'm working on it! I'm working on it.

Slay the Spire is SO FUN, its like a roguelike trading card game?? And the art style is so amazing and all the character deisgns are so funky!! And the system is awesome, its like a jrpg but with lots of like.. Alternate health bars? It all revolves around stacking amounts of different things, like status effects and armour and poison and LIGHTNIBG JUGGLING BALLS! Its a really cool way to make an rpg and a trading card game smoosh together without making the rules too complicated BUT what you can actually do with them is complicated. Like its a very simple setup but theres SO MUCH potential for different options ans combining stuff in cool ways and AAA! Its just a shame that the random nature of the game means that youre not likely to see every potential combination or like..have any choice in which of the bazillion cool decks you could get. I know the whole point of the thing is to have a challenge with random cards and random enemies but i wish there was a free play online versus or something where you could use your fave cards.

Oh oh oh and i LOVE The Defect! I actually first started playing this game ages ago when it was still in beta and that third character slot was all mysterious. I thought maybe The Merchant was gonna become playable cos the character slot was blue and implied they were gonna be nonbinary, but instead we have a whole new blue nonbinary pal! A playable monster is such am epic idea and those weird coral bone robot things are an awesome choice, theyre some of my faves. But still i love and cherish the cheerful merchant of mystery and im gonna headcanon that them and the new robo friend are pals! Itd make sense if Defect's blue cape was given to them by the character also wearing an identical one. Im already headcanoning lore about The Merchant finding this broken robot and nursing them back to health and They Become Family And Have Many Hugs. And every time Silent and Ironclad come along to take Defect on anpther adventure, Merchant is like 'i owe you so much for taking care of my child' 'so are you gonna give us a discount, then?' 'no :3'

Also ive ended up making an oc/ other job class idea based on how i tend to play the game. Was gonna be The Juggler but then The Defect ended up having Orb Powers in a completely different way so maybe change to The Joker instead? Idea was basically some sort of goofy vampire jester person whose abilities would revolve around random chance and all the sort of 'setting up for later' cards. Like the shivs and anything thats 'add something every turn' and it stacks up. I tend to gravitate towards those whenever i get the chance. Silebt and Defect both have some good cards that do that, but they dont specialise in it so youve gotta get lucky with card drops. And also stuff that lets you shuffle your hand often and stuff that activates passively every time it lands in your hand/you discard it/you get hit/whatever. Like a counter attacker build, with this element of getting more dangerous the longer you manage to hang in there but you dont have much defense so it takes good skill to pull it off. And the personality i thought up for this character is that they used to be human but they got too sucked into the quest to climb the spire and lost their mortality along the way. Cos honestly the only way anyone could be bubbly and happy here is if they were totally overtaken by the corruption and forgot their own name. So yeah, The Joker is just having a blast and aint particularly concerned about slaying any spires! Lets just hang out in the ominous void and have sleepovers, new buddies! :D so maybe youd see them as a random event during the other characters's playthroughs and if you beat them in a boss fight they join you? Like 'ehh i dont wanna escape this place but if my new best friends are doing it i may as well join in'. Tho probably in their ultimate ending they would actually regain their memories and reunite with their long lost family or something.

Brainstorming about my yokai watch ocs: Dimmy and Gorgeous Ambassador, the most cutest family

* My Dimmy's name is Blythe and they are nonbinary. Gorgeous Ambassador is male and i dont have a name for him yet. I was thinking maybe try and make up a dub name for kageusuo (anime exclusive pre evolution) that sounds like it could have been his nickname as a human? Cos his story is that he used to be a wandering mercenary in ye olde ninja times, i feel like itd be fitting.

* Blythe is the main partner of my protagonist in my yokai watch lp, basically the jibanyan of the anime of my heart. Their personality is mostly similar to the Dimmy in the anime, but i feel like theyre maybe older and more powerful than the average Dimmy? Like a weak low evolution yokai thats stayed unevolved for centuries and is actually more skilled and world weary than you'd assume. Protag just got lucky that she bumped into this one super magikarp, lol! Also i like to draw them looking more teenage age by just taking the regular Dimmy design and making the tail extra super long. They stand roughly twice as tall as the protagonist and can wrap around her shoulders like a scarf :3 Blythe is however totally unaware of their super powerful mega skill and is very self depreciating and low confidence. But Mallory totally sees them as a cool older sibling mentor figure and is always trying to figure out ways to make their tol squiggle friend feel included and valued :3

* the way Gorgeous Ambassador comes into the picture is that he was actually the same sort of figure to Blythe! Back in the ninja era Blythe was partners with another human, but he passed away in tragic circumstances and it led to their current depressed self. However he actually reincarnated as a yokai and has been trying to find his lil sibling ever since! I feel like he was a failure samurai who tried to protect people but was so weak he never could. And he was always broke and starving and begging to do any sort of miscellaneous jobs for anyone or even let them punch him in the stomach for a few coins. And he had just as much self confidence issues as Blythe but he coped with it by becoming a compulsive liar instead, always boasting and trying to sell himself as some legendary hero to keep from facing the truth. Since Blythe was a cute lil babby yokai at the time, they always believed their human master's tall tales and looked up to him, which made him feel really guilty and try harder to work on becoming someone this kid could be genuinely proud of.

* Blythe was first born as a household spirit. Cos i was thinking about what Dimmy would be before it became a ninja, since the medallium description says it 'got a job as a ninja to put its powers to use', so like it isnt really a ninja yokai but just a yokai thats a ninja? I guess?? I figured that the idea of being an invisible shadow supporter fit with household spirits/domovoi/zakishi warishi (probably mispelled that) and the various other similar creatures in mythologies all over the world. Just the idea that theres some sort of being that protects your house and if you give it offerings and take good care of the place it will protect you and your family. So yeah its my headcanon that thats how Dimmys are born, and that theres probably many variants wearing different outfits inspired by whatever type of humans they guarded. Tho yeh ninja is a job that works really well with their abilities so it makes sense itd be the primary representative of the species in the games.

* Human-dude-who-would-become-gorgeous-ambassador first met Blythe when one of his various failed attempts to get a job happened to cross paths with the family Blythe was guarding. This family didnt believe in such old suspicions and never gave offerings to their household spirit, so it stayed small and weak and was almost fading away. Baby blythe didnt know why their humans didnt love them, even though they tried so hard to bring good luck and clean the fireplace and stuff. So they felt a sense of kinship with this poor failure samurai who was begging for food on their doorstep. The humans of the household spat in his face and turned him away empty handed, but the tiny yokai snuck some rice from the pantry and gave it to him. They were surprised that he was able to see them, and he gave them the first thank you they'd ever had!

* Addendum note: i feel like gorgeous samurai was cursed with being able to see yokai from a young age and its part of whay made him so determined to become strong enough to protect people. Perhaps his biological family was killed by an evil yokai and nobody ever believed what he saw? And he wandered japan trying to save other people and always failing and being blamed for what happened, since nobody could see the real culprit. This reputation of being a liar when he wasnt = he ended up actually lying about how he was totally fine and not sad and also great and not hating himself. Its not really something he can control anymore, its like a stress response and it keeps getting him in trouble but he cant stop. "Yes sure i can save the day, i'm awesome!" only makes things worse when he inevitably loses again, whic only makes his self confidence worse and traps him further in the lies...

* so anyway, he became friends with this lil babby yokai and kept coming back to visit them and tell more tall tales of his grand adventures. And eventually he managed to help Blythe come out of their shell a little and agree to leave this house where they were only fading away. Haunting him instead, the lil shadow soon flourished back to full health from being loved for the first time. And their new big bro would always give them the biggest share of all the food even when he was starving, and always wasted his money buying things for them, and knitted them lil scarfs and just HE WAS A GOODEST BIG BRO! They also made a great team, and he was finally able to fight evil yokai with a yokai of his own helping him out. Things were good for a few years!

* Eventually though, they faced a foe too strong for them to defeat. (Not sure yet who it is, cos it could be cool if they faced it again in the present day for a rematch?) Blythe's human friend ran into a burning building to save the people being attacked by this yokai, but because he was already gravely injured he didnt manage to make it out in time. And blythe was just a tiny bab who wasnt strong enough to carry his unconcious body to safety. So their last memories of him are of crying and begging him to wake up as the house fell apart all around them, and eventually the flames swallowed him up. the tiny yokai just ran and ran away from their shame, and never saw an ashy figure rising from the ruins and calling their name...

* eventually after years of struggling alone and lacking meaning in life, Blythe had a chance meeting with our protagonist and thus begins my yokai watch 1 lets play! At the same time their yokaified big bro is still out there searching for them, and maybe one day theyll meet again...

* also i wanna go with the pre-evo the anime added of Gorgeous Ambassador evolving from a sad depressed vampire lookin dude. Even if the whole circumstances here are vastly different! But we dont really have any info on what kageusuo's powers or stats would be, so i guess i'm free to mess around with that? I like the idea of it being vampiric just cos i feel it looks like that. But instead of drinking blood maybe its a hunger for shadows? Which is actually beneficial to humans and makes them less overshadowed aka the opposite of Dimmy's power. So if you ever feel that you're radiating charisma with perhaps a slightly lighter shadow, maybe youve been inspirited by this guy! And then the evolution into Gorgeous Ambassador doesnt actually change anything at all, except just looking more fashionable and confident (which is absolutely a lie). His power already made people more fabulous while being unable to affect himself, he just worked a bit harder on himself to try and catch up with everyone else. Self care vampire!

* oh and in this interpretation the way that kageusuo would be integrated into the gameplay is that Gorgeous Ambassador would get a new ability that lets him switch forms in battle, rather than it being a separate yokai. (Tho would still have a separate entry in the medallium just for conveinience of being able to view both character models whenever you want) Stuff that causes low confidence would make him poof between forms, and itd just be something like more attack based vs defense based, or maybe having two separate personality stats so its like his AI is slightly more versatile than the usual frustratingness of most yokai? Srsly im still so annoyed at so many yokai that have two mutually exclusive moves and the ai is stupid about using them at the wrong time to cancel each other out. Like how Dimmy can be given the AI personality to focus on attacking and thus take advantage of its auto-skill to be good at dodging aka a glass cannon. BUT also one of its skills gives that same status to an ally instead, which by definition takes it away from itself cos 'dont target this other guy' means there arent many other options. So you cpuld alternatively play dimmy as a supporter who exclusively protects others with that ability BUT the annoying part is that even when you set an AI profile to one particular move it still only makes it LIKELY to do that and not guaranteed. So every now and again your attacking dimmy will cancel its own buff to protect an enemy, or your supporting dimmy will forget to support abd instead buff itself despite not having the attack stat build to take advantage of it. Plus you cant have both and switch between modes mid battle, so thatd be REALLY useful if one yokai actually could do that, and also could change stats to fit! Im not sure how to give it a trigger condition thatd let you sorta change at will but also not be 100% easy and overpowered. I was thinking tying it to his confidence could mean missed attacks turn him into kageusuo and critical hits turn into gorgeous? But thatd be TOO uncontrollable...

* oh actually i think maybe i'll nickname him Amber! Just cos my brain just mispronounced gorgeous ambassador and It Kinda Works??? Also its a kind of name that sounds very pretty but also has connotations of gentle shyness, i think. Matches the duality of his fake boastfulness vs his true self doubt.

* Oh and i also thought of maybe having Blythe evolve into Casanono, even though you cant do that in canon. I feel like turning into a pretty humanoid would be a good way to symbolize their growing confidence ans casanono/casanuva has a big nonbinary aesthetic in my opinion. Plus of course the fact casanono is a variabt of a confident yokai thats actyally shy. Originally older brother dude was gonna be a casanuva to match, until i heard about Gorgerous Ambassador and decided it fits him better (especially with that new anime form!) So now im thinking maybe have Blythe be both casanono and casanuva at once, similar to their bro's form switching? But itd be more like casanuva is a rare super saiyan esque powerup when they experience rare moments of confidence. Im pretty much just doing this because SADLY casanono is a joke character who is literally mechanically forced to be useless in battle. Its ability makes it harder to catch yokai which ia already goddamn difficult, and it wastes a skill slot too. As opposed to Dimmy who has a similar personality of always being ignored and depressed but its abilities are actually beneficial. Itd suck to go from Blythe being my mvp to being unable to use them at all, so this would be a way to still always draw them as casanono in comics to match their actual personality, but using casanuva in battle cos.. Well.. Yeah its the functional one of the two. Level-5 if youre listening please make casanono useable in future games!! Casanuva is absolutely the worst one personality wise so it sucks that the game agrees with his ego that he's great and also punches his depressed counterpart into the bin of ignoreness DESPITE BEING SUPER SYMPATHETIC AND RELATEABLE AND ALSO CUTER COLOURSCHEME

Anyway thats all the thoughts i have so far. Except oh also itd be funny if throughout the whole story blythe keeps talking about their dead brother as if he was the super best most serious hero and then when the protagobists actually meet him he's this gaudy dork XD

Maybe Halloween Town? Or one of the final fatasy crossover places.

2. What would be your starting keyblade?

I like Fenrir, I think it pulls off the ‘looks like a car key’ thing better than riku’s new keyblade in 3. Like its not just straight up a regular car key with no additional decorations, like how the regular keyblade isnt a regular key with no decorations. Just having some weird patterns and bandages on the thing makes it neater! Also kinda resembles the key to the temple of the ancients from orignal ff7.

Tho if i had to choose between only ones that were already starting keyblades in other games, I’d say i like Aqua’s one the best. Its neat with that weird lazery hollow key shape effect

3. How many allies would you have with you as you travel?

4. If in a party, what would be your main role (e.g. tank, healer, synthesizer, etc.)

combination tank/damage dealer. Runs into the front lines with zero strategy except smacking stuff and Protect Friemds

Oh man I actually dont really know how D-Links work cos BBS is one the games i never finished. But uhh probably defense and counterattack stuff?

6. What would be your fighting style?

oh uhh ok better to explain it here! I’d like to be a tanky punchyness, someone who maybe isnt exactly the strongest but they can just keep attacking and annoying the fuck out of the enemy forever. In a party i’d be based around drawing aggro and protecting my friends from attacks but also maybe have some trickstery counter atatcks that give me potential to deal some damage if i get lucky.

7. What would you prioritize? Power, Magic, or Speed?

LOL i always thought it was weird that the mobile game picked those as the three elements when the main trio of the game is clearly power, magic and DEFENSE. and theres loads of enemies who are defense specialists too! i’d be that!! I wanna just be like the annoying Large Body enemy. Big cuddly person who protect they friends to the point its gamebreaking, lol!

8. What would be your ability as a support medal? BONUS, state if it's a single-target or all-target attack, and your SP cost!

Oh man im not very good at the mobile game lol XD I might say a buff defense or lower enemy attack thing cos just those are most necessary to not die in that damn hard game. or if i could have anything even stuff that isnt already possible in the game, then i’d like to be a counterattack! something like if the enemy has buffed themselves you reverse it into debuffs, or you reflect their whole attack. but itd have to have an element of chance to it so maybe it only works if you sacrifice something else, or just on a random flip a coin thing?

9. If you could be partners with one character in the series, who would it be?

URSULA IS MY FAVOURITE DIDNEY

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa tfw u have another game idea AGAIN i think my brain hollowed itself out for more idea space at the expense of everything else like ability to actually create my ideas or ability to remember to eat :P

this kinda isnt a NEW idea, its just something floating around in my brain that ive now got more of a concrete idea for, i guess? playing Oxygen Not Included reminded me of it and made me feel maybe people would actually be interested in it, yknow? and its probably not something i could ACTUALLY make, cos it’d require like.. a lot of my own programming. not really easy to just make in a helpful gamemaker enginey thing like rpgmaker. tho it is an rpg... kinda...?? ehhhh im not feeling very good today, sorry my writing is... bad

ANYWAY WHAT WAS I SAYING

Well the idea I has was for kind of a roguelike tower climbing rpg, like Azure Dreams or Persona 3 The premise would be that there’s a mysterious underground civilization, trapped for generations with no memory of the surface world. Between them and sunlight is this potentially-infinate magical labyrinth that nobody has managed to make it through. (At least as far as anyone knows. Everyone wants to believe that friends who dissappeared in the labyrinth actually made it to the other side, rather than.. well.. the other side.) So the game would be about tackling this labyrinth in multiple short sessions. My favourite genre: roguelikes that actually have some form of progression in them! Even though you’re dying a lot, you retain a small amount of what you gathered each time in the form of townbuilding progressyness and ~friendship routes~ and ~ETCETERA~!

But then after playing Oxygen Not Included I kinda have a burning desire to see a game that has the good bits of that and not the... Frustration. To say its a roguelike without progression is understating it, gahhhhhhhhhh! Roguelike sim game of 8 hour game sessions that get destroyed cos of one stupid mistake and you have to be all perfect and lucky and YOURE ALWAYS STARVING and gahhhhhhhhh THIS IS MEANT TO BE MY GAME IDEA NOT VENTING ABOUT THAT GAME Anyway I was thinking how it’d be really cool if a game like that actually DID have a sense of progression. And an actual end goal. Like.. if you were actually digging towards the surface! With periodic savepoints and characters that dont die so easily and have more personality to them and you get all attatched! I already got all attatched to my dumb sim characters and then just got really upset how they kept dying and the game seemed to not give a shit :P

But yeah its not like I can just completely copy that game, lol. Even if I wanted to, I dunno how to program a simulation type engine thing from scratch! So i was thinking like.. a regular roguelike randomized dungeon generator actually IS possible in Rpgmaker, so I dunno.. I could find a way to make that work with some kind of ‘you are actually creating the dungeon’ type thing. i really like the idea of being able to dig your own path through the thing and have it permenantly etched there forever. I was thinking it could be an awesome idea if in the postgame you could come back to the now-empty labyrinth after everyone’s escaped to the surface, and be able to walk through it and have a big ol nostalgia trip. One that’d be unique to every player! And like.. maybe even be able to see changes, like it being reclaimed by nature and flowers? And you could upload a dungeon seed for your own personal dungeon, so that other players could play it, and that could be the postgame replay value~!

and I was thinking the protagonists could be two kids and be a grumpy older sibling who’s a jerk to their well-meaning-but-immature lil sib, but loves them deep down, and has to learn a lesson about becoming a more responsible sib, and etc like.. yeah.. basically inspired by over the garden wall i didnt really like that show, and i felt bad about it cos everyone was telling me it was a masterpiece. alas! :P aaanyhoo they’re not very developed yet, except older sib being a bit of a comical greedy coward type of person and lil sib actually being quite wise but always underestimated. Like, they have more common sense than their big sib even though they are a lil naive sometimes cos theyre so optimistic. Both sibs get each other into trouble pretty often, but they balance out perfectly to save each other each time! And lil sib is kind of a pushover who just obeys big sib unquestionably and can never stick up for themself when big sib is being all ‘ugh ur so immature im totally better'. They’re just like... the sort of person who’s so scared of their friends leaving them that they let anyone hurt them as much as they want as long as they stay. Very relateable to Bunni! Also they sorta try and pretend to be the dumb sidekick and class clown. Cos again theyre worried if they disagree or try and stand out too much then their sibling will hate them. Quite often their ‘dumb mistakes’ are actually the older sib’s fault, and they’re stuck like ‘AAAA I CANT TELL THEM TO STOP COS ITD BE OUT OF CHARACTER. I NEED TO BE THE CUTE BABY.’ And its all super complicated cos older sib acts like they resent them for never growing up too, its like.. cant ever win. This whole thing has kinda turned them into an anxious mess deep down. part of big sib’s whole redemption arc would involve them having to realise that their actions arent harmless, and treating such a young child this way actually has a permenant effect. And like... big sib doesnt know how to take care of little sib on their own because they’re immature themself! Being able to admit that instead of trying so hard to be all fake ultra mature and infallible, thats another big character arc. As well as aknowledging that lil sib is indeed growing up and becoming someone intelligent and independant. And realizing that the reason they keep putting them down is so they can try and deny that, and the reason they’re denying it because theyre JEALOUS! Jealous that little sib might have their emotions more alltogether than them, scared that their emotionless facade of perfect big sibness will be broken, and scared that without that they’ll have nothing left. Need to become more comfortable with trusting and relying on your lil sib, need to actually talk to them about this stuff, yo! Ideally I’m gonna try and write it in a way that doesnt make big sib seem like a completely hateable villain. Their backstory is gonna involve being from not exactly the nicest family, and both struggling to escape what they’ve been shaped into. And trying to learn how to take care of each other as a real family, when they have no real frame of reference for what real love looks like. And also climbing a bigass tower to save humanity from being entombed underground, but that’s comparatively easy, lol! But yeah the idea is that big sib kinda absorbed more of their bad parents’s ideals, and like... they love their sibling so utterly and deeply because they just did not know what family love felt like until they came along. And it really REALLY hurts them whenever they realise they’ve been subconciously being neglectful or hateful towards the lil fella, but theyre so distracted by like.. the greed of being free now. And doing anything and everything, drunk on that freedom! And not really being capable yet of caring about other people when they havent even learned how to care about themself. They keep being all decadent and delinquent and it seems like theyre egotistical but still deep down they HATE themself and this is all just like a ‘fake it til you make it’. And its so easy to get caught up and go too far to try and put on this facade, and they feel they cant really vent their real feelings to anyone. Cos they’re super cynical dont trust anyone except sibling loyalty like. Only way to survive! And like... cant talk about it with the sib either, because little kid wouldnt understand, and if they do then that means theyre not little anymore. They dont wanna ruin lil sib’s childish innocence cos like.. that innocence is their only reason to live. Innocent stupid bastion of family love, came into their life and gave them the courage to deal with those shitty parents gahhh! And part of them ‘knows’ that the only way to love anyone is to be deluded and innocent. You have to be too stupid to realise that the world is awful and everyone sucks and loving people just gets you hurt! And big sib is toooootally smart cos they know that life is meaningless. But they’re entertained by seeing a stupid person stupidly believe in optimism. Totally. Thats the only reason they wanna protect that innocence. Totally. sooooo basically imagine a very mentally ill mess of a preteen that’s curled up in the corner crying perpetually within their own mind, while on the outside they’re all HA HA I’M AMAZING, BITCHES And also imagine that bunni is able to write good enough to explain these damn characters aaaa im very tired im sorry

anyway summary: protagonist is a jerk, Character Development: The Game, you will cry for little sib whom is basically like penny from inspector gadget also I was thinking maybe this could be the one and only time I do the Amnesiac Protagonist Cliche Setup. eeeexcept not really?? well i mean I think it’d work cool if these characters were new to this setting, but I wouldnt actually do 100% amnesia thing I was thinking more like... they are the only two people who came from the outside world. And they just can’t remember how they got here, they wake up trapped in this place and everyone thinks theyre crazy for talking about being from somewhere aboveground. So you have an even more desperate motivation to escape compared to everyone else! I mean of course everyone wants to return to the surface, but its been so long that no-one remembers what it’s like, and so many attempts have failed that they’ve all given up. So you can act like a beacon of hope and lead the people even though you’re just a child. Like, this is about a morally bankrupt trash protagonist being dragged kicking and screaming into heroism, lol And of course we can have some good ‘ol mystery amnesia reveal type plot thingies! But without having to have a protagonist who’s COMPLETELY clueless, and a game beginning with no direction whatsoever. Its more like a ‘trapped in another world’ story except its the same world just a few thousand miles underground, lol. And revealing how exactly they got there and what they’ve forgotten is gonna be a plot, yes, but also there’s the bigger mystery of what on earth this doom labyrinth is and what caused these poor people to be trapped in it! And what they’ll even find when they finally reach the surface again, will it really be the sort of paradise they’re all hoping for? also many tears for sad dysfunctional tiny family of awkward childrens, ye also (hopefully) fun dungeon gameplays
