FE: Engage - Prologue + Chapter 1
Tumblr media
It begins.
Went with M!Alear, since I really dislike F!Alear's look + I kinda fine M!Alear...really cute?? Ever since the first trailer, I just liked his expressions. I would even say his silly hair adds to the appeal.
The first cutscene looks great. Im happy how pretty the game's graphics are. Seems like a premonition of some kind? reminds me of awakening.
Tumblr media
Woah, hello. I'm like, 99% sure this guy's Alear's father. I'm just also gonna note here that I'm pretty leak free story wise, so any theories or speculation I have are genuine. Though I have kept up on pre-release information (like trailers, jpn twitter posts, etc).
"My prayers are with you!" IDK why, I just like that line
Tumblr media
I wonder... This can't be a flashback, since we saw 'present day' characters in the fight cutscene. Unless we're getting a wacky reincarnation plotline (Someone call Kiria!). Probably a premonition then? Premonition stuff can be a little strange. made sense in awakening, because it was a look into the original timeline, and I know Alear won't remember anything, so...what? Maybe just something for the player to chew on.
Tumblr media
omg Alear's eyes flicking between Framme & Clanne 😭😭. HE'S CUTE IM SORRY.
Tumblr media
nothing to say, just that it's pretty <3
Wait, this is so funny
First actual battle. Not much to say, since it's mostly a tutorial battle still (so it's pretty standard stuff). It feels good to play, and the graphics are great. ...wow Vander's personal skill kinda sucks. Yay, Alear remembers Marth! Another simple battle that gives us another taste of the engage mechanic. I'll probably have more thoughts when we have more then just Marth.
LUMERA! I just really like her design.
aww, that CG. Waiting for 1,000 years for your child to wake is pretty sad. Though this interaction makes me think on how we didn't get any info regarding an Alear dragon form. can Alear just...not transform? I'm sure we'll find out more about it later.
Hmm, 'Terrible wound'... I wouldn't be shocked is Lumera's lying (or not telling the whole truth), since we know that Alear goes full red at some point, and putting them to sleep was the best way to fix that.
There's some bird on the map, but I can't seem to adopt it smh. That will prob unlock with Somniel tbh
Lumera ride lets goo
methinks this was a pretty good start!

The Shows I Have Been Watching lately.
idk, I haven’t really been doing much with this blog for over a month and for some reason I just wanted to make a little post about some of the shows that I have been watching lately. I started two dramas, Wok of Love and Something in the Rain but I wasn’t really in the mood or something to write a first impression or anything. And in a way I feel like that is kinda where I am with a lot of my tv shows lately. I like them, but I am not really loving them. They pass the time and make me smile occasionally. But I feel like I don’t have a lot to say.
Something in the Rain is a very cozy show to watch, but it also sometimes feels like I am just watching rain fall down my window while I cuddle up with some tea and a blanket. It feels nice, but I feel like if I watch too much of it I get really bored and not that much is happening. I like the sort of everyday feel to it, but I don’t watch it that often. And when I do I sometimes watch it while doing other things, or just watch it for half an hour and then go watch something else and then go back to it later. It’s on Netflix, which is convenient, since it just picks up right where I left it. I watch two episodes and then I don’t watch anything for like two weeks and then I continue on. Someday I might just realize I haven’t watched it for months and idk, drop it?
Wok of Love is a kinda crazy show and I don’t feel like I completely get it yet, but I feel like I could like it once the plot settles down a bit the story can actually start. But so far I am kinda ‘eh’ about it. Some bits are fun, some bits are just bizarre and idk, I just feel like I am having a hard time with wacky comedies from Korea lately. Or just recent kdramas in general. I feel like I am dropping an awful lot of them. Wok of Love is following the new 30 min per episode structure, which can help when I feel like I am having a hard time focusing on dramas.
Elementary is back. I don’t think I have spent much time on this blog talking about Elementary. It’s doing a wonderful job with the case of the week and all of that, although some cases are more interesting than others. Sometimes I watch it with one eye, while I do other things. But that is probably because I tend to not be super into procedural shows.
Izombie isn’t doing as well with the case of the week structure as it once was. Is is kinda trying to balance too many balls, or story lines, at once and the murder or case of the week isn’t really doing it’s job to tie the story together. Sometimes it feels like it’s just an excuse to give Liv some fun new quirks, without adding too much to the overall story. I have been a bit bored this season, but I still like the show and the characters and it’s humor. However, I am glad this show will not run longer than season five, even if I will miss this show dearly. But I think it’s good to end it before the story spreads out too thin.
My Only Love Song was a show that I have been eyeing for a long time on Netflix. And since last weekend turned out to be a long weekend (three days off) and the weather was kinda shitty, I just sat down and decided to give it a go. I wanted to watch it before Gong Seung Yeon's new drama Are You Human Too? started airing in July. I often hesitate on starting a new show on the Netflix list, just out of fear that I am not ready to start engaging with a new story (as silly as it sounds) or I will somehow just watch it at the wrong time. I have a similar thing with some of my books on my tbr list. But for some reason this silly little fantasy fusion sageuk about a delightfully kinda-full-of-herself little actress that goes back in time to Goguryeo really did it for me. I thought it was so great how she was so suborn and kinda entitled and all of that and Oh Dal was annoyed by it but at the same time so into her. I was really into that dynamic. Also, we don’t get to see many female characters like that. And somehow the wacky comedy or the slapstick elements that have kinda annoyed me in recent dramas didn't bother me. It was so easy to watch and just kinda delightfully dumb at times, yet sweet. The story got a little thin (and silly and nonsensical) as it went on, but I just found myself having to much fun watching it to kinda care, or just kinda laughing at how little sense it was sometimes making. Idk, somehow it just did it for me.  If these new kdramas keep on disappointing me - I am holding out hope for Are You Human Too? and Why Secretary Kim - then maybe I will just continue on with my Netflix list. Or finally getting around to watching Tree With Deep Roots. Idk, I tend to be so bad and starting kdramas that have already finished airing. Just like I am with some book on my shelf. I will get around to reading you, someday! Just not now. When the moon and the stars align and the universe gives me a clear sign, then maybe I will pick you up.  Now excuse me while I continue on watching John Mulaney and other comedians do stand up on Netflix.
