Hatice represents the “Conversion” side of “Dönmek”. Nigar represents the “Return” side of “Dönmek” (obviously in the context of Ibrahim’s love triangle).
Of course Ibrahim had to choose Hatice over Nigar for his story to make sense. Hatice represents power and accepting the dynasty as his family/making the dynasty into his family (he starts courting Hatice in Episode 3, right after little Mustafa says that he is not a brother of Süleyman’s): The power will get to his head and he will be executed like a brother of Süleyman would be. Choosing Hatice (who here represents other things) is his tragedy.
The only time he tells us/his brother that he loves Nigar is when he is dreaming of returning to Parga with his family. He later defines Esmanur, his daughter from Nigar, as “Theo’s daughter” instead of “Ibrahim Pasha’s daughter” (and it is interesting how he transfers his dream of “returning” from Nigar to their daughter). If he had chosen Nigar, if he had loved Nigar, he wouldn’t think of himself as an invincible inextricable part of Süleyman’s family, of Süleyman’s life. For his tragedy to make sense, it is right for him to love Hatice more, to choose Hatice, to choose to be a part of Süleyman’s family.
The problem here is Nigar’s fate. If Nigar had been able to “return” to Sulina (her hometown) or to Parga (his hometown) with their daughter then the viewer would think that Ibrahim maybe had a way out from this tragedy and instead actively chose to stay as the Vizier and died as a result. Alas, unfortunately the writers’ penchant for tragedy and slut-shaming trumped good storytelling in this case.

9 and 18 for 'I Choose Violence'.
9) Oof, that's a hard one. I hate a lot of the things that happen in the show, just like I love a lot of the things that happen in the show, go figure... But I mean Nigar coming back to become insane and die was probably the ultimate "the medallion is stupid so we're not gonna do that" moment. Like I just straight up reject the reality where she died and substitute my own.
There were many useless subplot that I would just straight up cut, like the Ayşe vs Rumeysa drama, and also that thing in season 1 of Kösem with Katerina hatun, everything about the love lives of Osman and his brother Mehmet.
And I know Firuze rehabilitation is trendy right now, but sorry, I am still a hater.
Also, Murat and Farya just straight up, like it's incredible, this show managed to create a prominent canon ship with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Even Hürrem and Süleyman had some cute moments, even if they didn't make up for the rest of their relationship.
18) Again, lots of stuff! Fatma sultan (Süleyman's sister ofc) is generally really underrated, like she's just straight up the best one, I am sorry Şah, but that's the truth.
Also the relationship between the sisters, mostly Şah and Hatice, also also their relationship to Süleyman (which I also didn't analyze much, that I am extremely ashamed of).
And at this point I am basically obligated to say Mustafa x Taşlicali, like I know they will always be the second best to Süleyman x Ibrahim, but they are extremely shippable too!
Rüstem's relationship to Hürrem is an interesting one, I chalk this one up to the general unwillingness of the fandom to really pay any attention to Rüstem's interiority. Which is extremely unfair, because fucking Ibrahim gets analyzed to hell and back, despite being (I'd argue) just as lacking in redeeming qualities.
From Kösem sultan... Well, just the whole season 1, really. Handan and Halime with their glorious feud, the magnificent beauty of Fahriye sultan's story, my best boy Ahmet, oh my God Ahmet... I feel like we mostly ignore everything in that season that isn't Kösem or Safiye, which is immensely disappointing, because I feel like that season was one of the better ones?

if i were to rewrite magnificent century, here are some things i would write differently:
have at least one of suleiman's sisters be an ally to hurrem(im not sure which though). i don't know if hatice and hurrem would get along given the circumstances but i would also have her be unbiased regarding hurrem's children at the very least. given that beyhan wasn't shown that often at all, she would be neutral regarding her so it comes down to either sah ,fatma or both. i would make ayse hafsa neutral regarding both hurrem and mahidevran.
i would definitely make hurrem be the first haseki. i would also give hurrem and suleiman a healthy relationship, pretty much like how they were in real life and after the russian concubines he would stay completely loyal to hurrem. suleiman's and hurrem's marriage would happen after ayse hafsa's death, once she was given the position as the ruler of the harem.
i would keep the whole nigar-ibrahim-hatice love triangle but as i believe @zeldaxxi pointed out this would have made more sense if it happened more gradually instead of after one fight. i would show way more moments of hatice being a present mother to her children because i believe we were deprived of those. for all that she talked about wanting a family, i can remember only a few scenes of them actually interacting...
as for mihrimah, i feel like we were completely robbed with how she was portrayed on the show. i would definitely showcase her intelligence as well as interest in politics more. if they were already going to make her favourite bayezid i wish we were at least shown why. a few scenes of her interacting with both of her brothers so that it makes more sense instead of her being extremely biased without a visible reason to the audience.
i would make mehmed a more interesting character. we all knew he was going to die at some point in the show, but honestly, due to how little they explore his character i felt completely indifferent regarding anything that ever happened to him.
if all of the brothers were to have a good brotherly bond with mustafa, i would show it as something a lot more complex than what it was in the show. bayezid blindly trusting mustafa came across as naive to me. also, no bayezid x hurricihan x one sided cihangir romance.
instead of hizir reis' daughter, i would make mihrunissa a concubine in mustafa's harem.
there's definitely more i will add to this later but this is all i can think of for now

Woah!!! A MC fanfiction account! I love your Suleiman x Hurrem work I’ve seen! About massage and love and horniness, so fun and hot! Can you maybe do Suleiman x Ibrahim, or (ah, my ot3) Suleiman x Ibrahim x Hurrem? With first — a night of violin playing, maybe poetry, and kisses — hands, in obedience and hidden need, or lips, because, well some things can’t stay hidden forever. And if second — I would live literally absolutely anything, I have yet seen one (1) work about it, but oh, Ibrahim and Hurrem “teaming up” on Suleiman, again, with laughter and kisses and banter. I really want something happy right now. (Sorry, English is not my native language, so my descriptions suck)
*sigh* Ask and you shall receive.
I am very sorry for the relative lack of main action here. A porn with plot, except the plot only starts and to be honest, there's not that much porn here either (I mean, enough for an explicit rating, but still). Also, is it dubious consent if you are just as hammered as your target? Anyway, an Ibrahim/Süleyman oneshot where Ibrahim is willing to anything, and I mean ANYTHING to defeat Hürrem...
***
Two uninterrupted days and nights with sultan. Knocking Mahidevran off her Thursday throne. Numerous gifts, including ones made by Süleyman himself. Exhalted love poems Ibrahim found whenever he stole a glance at sultan’s work table before Süleyman managed to hide them. And, lest he forgot, two children in two years; at this rate, a prince might already be on its way.
Hürrem needed to be stopped.
Of course, that was more easily said than done. Valide sultan would have him throw pliable young bodies under the sultan untill he likes one better than the one Hürrem has, but Ibrahim knew that would never happen. So what if they are beautiful? So is Hürrem. So what if they are personable? So is Hürrem (at least to the sultan, she was an enormous bitch to everyone else). So what if they are clever? If Süleyman wanted clever, he would never fall madly in love with Mahidevran, let alone Hürrem. They needed something more, something that Hürrem had, but no other woman that Süleyman had ever been with did – the sheer, unbridled audacity, and in a way that would register as endearing rather than insulting to His Majesty at that. Ibrahim would wear his eyes and shoes down before he found such a woman at harem or a slave market, and in the meantime Hürrem grew more powerful and dangerous with every night she spent with Süleyman.
Well, he supposed, if you want something done, you have to do it yourself.
And sure, it won’t be easy on him. The entire time he considered this plan, he was thinking of Hatice. But let’s face it, he wasn’t ever going to get Hatice – and if that was the case, he was ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
He found the perfect opportunity to strike one night. They just finished working and in the usual case, Süleyman would call for Hürrem or simply go to sleep, too tired to perform. Ibrahim wanted to make sure he did neither this time. So, as Süleyman got up from the table, Ibrahim said in as casual a tone as possible. „I would like to spend one night with you sometimes.“
Süleyman shot him an expression that told him in no uncertain terms that what he said was just plain weird (as if Ibrahim didn’t know).
„In conversation, I mean! You know I sleep alone every night, Your Majesty, and the loneliness can be truly crushing.“
„We’ll find you a wife, then.“
Ibrahim laughed; he decided to treat it as a joke despite nothing in Süleyman’s expression indicating such a thing.
Luckily, Süleyman decided not to follow up on that. Instead, he cast a longing glance at the door, then turned back to Ibrahim. „Would one night truly satisfy you?“
„I can bring wine, Your Majesty. Kamran agha, a former servant of yours from Manisa, if you remember him... Well, he owns a vineyard in Cephalonia, and he gifted me a bottle, so that I might tell all of my friends about its quality.“ Well, there went the stuff he wanted to serve at his wedding... Which he wasn’t having anytime soon, so what gives.
Süleyman’s face brightened. „Why didn’t you start with that?! Go to your room, Ibrahim, and bring that wine at once!“
He didn’t start with that because, frankly, he didn’t think this trough very well.
A few minutes later, Ibrahim was filling Süleyman’s cups with the generosity of a man who always has more wine (he didn’t, but the pretense was necessary to maintain at the moment). Wine always made Süleyman more cheerful, chattier and, at least untill the alcohol-induced impotency kicked in, sluttier; under normal circumstances, it took the form of bawdy songs and jokes, but Ibrahim knew he could go further if he really wanted to, and in the absence of a pretty concubine (who hopefully was smart enough to not spread the news of the vices His Majesty partook in)... Who’s to say?
They sat on the terrace, sharing gossip about pashas with only a thin veneer of „well, sultan simply must have up-to-date knowledge of the activities of his high officials, no?“. A staggeringly short amount of time later, half of the bottle was gone, and sultan leaned towards Ibrahim in an intimate gesture that Ibrahim’s tipsy brain wanted to use several times as a segway to a kiss. Only then did he manage to find a good conversation topic for his purposes. „They say – Majesty I am not saying it’s true, I don’t think it is, it’s certainly slander of your most faithful official besides me – ahem, I mean, they say Bostanci Mehmet pasha likes young boys.“
Süleyman looked like he was thinking, but considering the stage of his drunkenness (which continued to get more severe as Ibrahim kept filling his cup and he continued to sip it eagerly) that was unlikely to actually be the case. „Why?“
„What?“
„Why are they saying it?“
„Well, he has a lot of very handsome men in his service, and isn’t married, and people say a healthy man can’t go that long without... Ahem...“
„He has no concubines, then?“
„Noone knows! He certainly doesn’t brag about it. Or he could seek out the services of prostitutes...“
„Of what gender?“
Ibrahim’s face lit up. „Ahhh! You see, that is a very good question, Your Majesty! I myself felt tempted, a couple of times...“
Süleyman lifted his eyebrows. „Have you?“
„I never went trough with it, but a man cannot help but wonder. Have you ever?“
„What? Consider sodomy? Hardly.“
„B-because... You see, there is one man, and one man only...“
„A prostitute?“
„No! Oh, Allah...“
Ibrahim’s alcohol-blunted judgement took this for an ideal opportunity to strike. He leaned in closer and pressed a kiss on Süleyman’s lips, but they, sadly, remained unresponsive. Instead, when he pulled out of it, Süleyman’s face was confused and a little offended. „What are you doing?!“
„Sire, I...“
„Have you ever kissed anyone?! Because that’s not how you do it!“
„Well, sire, I have, but it was solely in a professional setting, so to speak, and obviously prostitutes...“
His drunken idiocy was mercifully stopped by Süleyman’s kiss. The experience was undescribable; Süleyman truly could kiss like noone. Years of practice, he supposed, but the passion obvious in every brush of his lips still flattered Ibrahim immensely. He nonetheless wasn’t prepared for Süleyman’s tongue that surreptitiously slipped in between his lips like some small animal under a fence. His hand flew onto Süleyman’s cheek as if of its own will, at which point Süleyman deepened the kiss even further. Eventually, they had to break it up, and as they did, Ibrahim saw Süleyman’s eyes blazing in victory. Ibrahim, afraid of Süleyman coming to his senses, climbed onto his lap and started kissing him in the same manner Süleyman previously kissed Ibrahim. A startled noise escaped the hasodabaşi when Süleyman grabbed his ass with the lustfulness of, well, tipsy sultan Süleyman. Sultan was at least able to think straight (pun not intended) enough to part his lips from Ibrahim’s and murmur. “Let’s go inside.”
Ibrahim readily jumped from his lap and followed him inside the chamber, where Süleyman’s expression unfortunately grew embarrassed. His returning sanity was confirmed by what he said next. “Pargali… It’s getting late. We should be in bed by now.”
Ibrahim was gripped with desperation; a scheme failing was one thing, but what if Süleyman decides that he doesn’t need a man whom he had kissed in his vicinity, because of the shame if not the temptation? With this thought, he dropped to his knees and started kissing Süleyman’s hands desperately. “Sire, please, don’t send me away just yet… I can serve you in a manner no man or a woman had served you before, devote myself to you so completely as if your needs were my needs and your body was my own. No sultan has ever had a servant as faithful as I aim to be to you. Had I not saved your life several times? Had I not put my body between you and the assassin’s knife? I have no…”
“Thank you, Ibrahim, that’s quite enough.” said Süleyman in an almost amused tone. “Go back a little, please. What do you mean by service, exactly?”
“Whatever you ask for, Your Majesty! All of my body is yours – my hands, lips… Just everything.”
Süleyman turned his gaze from Ibrahim’s face, thinking, before eventually opening his mouth again with an intrigued expression. “All of it, you say?”
“Indeed!”
“And if I ask you to not question my orders or say anything to anyone…”
“Your secrets are safe with me, my sultan. Have they not always been?”
“Undress, then.”
Ibrahim happily obliged, though he was somewhat worried of what comes next. No matter. If the things get though, he’ll just think of Hürrem’s face when she learns Ibrahim has entered a direct competition with her. She can never be sultan’s bitch quite like-
“So!”
Süleyman’s voice tore Ibrahim away from his revelry. Only then did he realize Süleyman was already naked as well. He braced himself for truly anything Süleyman could ask of him in situation… Well, except what Süleyman actually did ask for.
“Are you ready to serve?”
“I am!”
“No, you’re not.”
Ibrahim winced. “Come again?”
Süleyman sighed and came to Ibrahim, kissing him once again. Ibrahim kissed him back with great pleasure, slowly realizing just how good he can feel – and he felt even better with his hand stroking Ibrahim’s privates. Pargali gave off a moan of pleasure, slightly trembling when Süleyman stepped away, then further and further…
Walking backwards, Süleyman walked into the bedframe, swearing upon hitting it. He fixed his gaze on Ibrahim’s erect penis, then turned around and laid his hands on the bed, ending up on all fours in technical terms, though not in spirit. “You said you would do anything and that all of your body belongs to me, correct?”
“Yes, sire.”
“Well then.”
“I… I don’t understand.”
“Your penis is also part of your body, if I am not mistaken.”
“Yes, but… What am I supposed to do with it?” He knew it. He could at least tell from Süleyman’s stance. His eyes saw, but his mind boggled too much to admit it.
“Ibrahim, you dense clown. There’s a small bottle of rose oil in the bath. I sincerely hope I do not need to spell it out for you any more than that…”
Ibrahim slowed started blinking again as Süleyman turned back towards him with a stern expression. “But… Why? You’re the sultan of the whole world, kalif of islam…”
“Ibrahim I swear, stop mentioning religion in this of all moments…”
“What I am saying is – why?! Of all the things I might offer to you, why this?!”
“Curiosity, my dear. There’s nothing more to it. I’ve penetrated before, I know how it feels. But to be penetrated… Well, that’s something I can only experience with you.”
Ibrahim’s eyes lit up in excitement. Even in his wildest dreams he could not imagine this night going as well as it did. “It would be an honour for me to show you, then.”
---
When Ibrahim walked away from sultan’s chambers in the morning, he met Hürrem in those red dress of hers that must’ve driven Süleyman mad whenever he was about to spend a night with her. He gave her a smirk, but walked away from her before she could say anything. The image of what her reaction might be had she known of the last night made him almost giddy.
Fuck Hürrem sultan.
And fuck Hatice.
From now on, he and Süleyman needed noone else. And should he still doubt it, Ibrahim was ready was ready to fight for this truth with the same tenacity Hürrem fought for her own supremacy in sultan’s bedchamber.
The game was now well and truly on.

How do you think Meral Okay would have dealt with the Nigar x Ibrahim x Hatice fallout? How would it differ than what we received?
I really can't say with any authority what it'd be like, to be honest. The delicate hand at work in the creation of Sadıka and Gülnihal gives me some hope, but then I'm left remembering how the Isabella arc played out.
I know how I would've done it, but I can't be sure it'd match.

Seeing all those aemond cheats on reader/oc with alys and he regrets it, and like if that happened in my aemma x aemond fics it would really just be Aemma killing Alys and having that Hatice moment where she tells Ibrahim that she is the Dynasty.
Tumblr media
Like Aemma cannot afford to let Alys live, just Aemond not being monogamous affects his own chances of him living let alone be her husband and consort.
Damn now i want to write it even though i don't really care for using alys as punching bag and prefer her being Alicent’s girlfriend.

Do you think that if Hatice hadn't ended up marrying Ibrahim she maybe could have been a little happier? Or at least lived longer? I always felt that her "love" for him was much more a kind of obsession than actual love and in the end being granted permission from Suleyman to be with him ended up being bad for her mental health since before their wedding she wasn't as anxious, paranoid, arrogant and jealous as she later became. Maybe if she married someone else she may not have fallen in love with them, but maybe she would have been a better mother to her children?
I honestly don’t think so. Of course a marriage of two traumatised people IS always a risky thing because obviously double dose of trauma and emotional problems is worse than when we have only one person with issues in a marriage, but loveless marriage would have destroyed Hatice much sooner, and actually it wasn’t the marriage that was the destruction of Hatice. Yes, it brought her a lot of pain with his betrayal, but ultimately it was one aspect of pain in her life that ultimately did get resolved, unlike others, which intensified.
Hatice is a clearly damaged person already at the beginning of the story. She’s a very sensitive soul that would always be troubled in this system. In her young age, she already had to witness the reign of her bloody father and was forced to marry an elderly man that died soon after the marriage. Even Süleyman is traumatised after dealings with his father and when he witnessed Selim’s brutal rise to power that involved eradicating all males in the family except Süleyman himself. Hatice feels trapped in the palace and feels suffocated in it.
While Ibrahim is made of sterner stuff, as we may say, and also does enjoy rising in the ranks in Ottoman palace, we know he also feels trapped and suffocated here, and that never truly adapted to Ottoman reality. While not so much sensitive person who abhors power games, he nevertheless also feels out of place here, also because he always feels more connected with Western culture. They are both outsiders actually. And this is what ultimately binds them together .Hatice, unlike say an ambitious princess like Sah, does not want power – she only wants to live peacefully with her children and man she loves. In this system of constant struggle, sometimes almost Darwinian (the whole open succession hello) to be on top, she might feel an outsider for that. Hatice in S1 IS also a naïve, sheltered idealist. She has her dreams of ideal future.
After (amost miraculous) acceptance of her marriage to Ibrahim, she seems to have it all, especially when she gets pregnant. But then everything is shattered when she miscarries and this is the event that begins her emotional descent arc.
However, she did have mental issues before that. She tried to kill herself when she was supposed to marry the man of Hafsa’s choosing. She didn’t want to feel trapped even more by again people deciding her fate thanks to all soulless, pragmatic, harsh rules.
Hatice was a depressed, anxious person from the very start of the series ,and she could also be short-tempered and impatient from very beginning.
And her being forced to marry someone else or not marry anyone would have likely made her to what Gevherhan did in MYK- decide to take her fate into her own hands FOR ONCE.
Maybe Ibrahim wasn’t a perfect choice due to his own emotional baggage that later made him commit stupid things, but he was still a good choice because she loved him, he loved her and he did understand her and also tried to be a source of support even though all their issues also caused him to be similarly a source of pain to her.
However, not matter how much Hatice and Ibrahim tried, the power struggle in the palace affected them because neither of them - she as member of dynasty and him as important official -  could ever be free from it. Ibrahim and Hürrem’s rivalry that intensified from S2 onwards affected it – we might say that neither Hürrem nor Ibrahim wanted to purposefully hurt Hatice, but she got caught in crossfire nevertheless. Obviously, marriage to Hatice meant a lot for Ibrahim’s career in the palace and making it fall apart was the easiest way for Hürrem to remove Ibrahim. We discussed it a bit here.
Similarly, fate also threw difficult things on them – first the miscarriage, then the death of the baby the cause of which was never determined (whether the poison or simple Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), but Hatice blames herself and thinks herself to be a killer of her child. Even once Ibrahim begins suspecting Hürrem because he figures out there was poison on his notebook that later could be carried to a child, who didn’t have such a strong organism as his father, he never shares this with Hatice not to re-open old wounds. Then Suleyman’s heart attack and her mother’s illness, all the intensification of power struggles that re-merged with Hatice trusting Hürrem again and then being disappointed again when Hürrem used sick Valide to frame Mahi while at the same sitting with Hatice and wishing her mum a speedy recovery (and Hatice did scold Mahi at first believing it was her), also some of earlier Mahi’s behaviour too… the turn of S2/S3 is very traumatising for Hatice. Death of her mother, followed by Ibrahim’s infidelity revelation together with manner of Hürrem revealing it that left Hatice in no doubt it was done to remove Ibrahim and that Hürrem was thus glad about his cheating (and again knowing that it is what Hürrem has dreamt of for long), so the final nail to their friendship’s coffin, it all caused a huge blow.Ultimately, the problem that does get solved in the end is the marital problem. Ibrahim ultimately does wake up even before he learns Nigar is pregnant (what Nigar anticipated actually) because in the end he DOES love his wife. He knows how much he hurt Hatice and is ready to face the consequences.. When Matrakçi said Hatice loves him a lot and would eventually forgive him, while Hürrem would surely use her opportunity and tell Süleyman: Ibrahim said: “What does it matter if I lose everything or not? I’ve once renounced ranks for Hatice. Nothing is worthy next to her. The only thing that worries me is Hatice, her broken heart. When she looked at me, I wanted the ground to swallow me whole”.
Again it’s Hatice’s choice to forgive him and neither Hürrem nor anyone should mock her for it. And unlike Süleyman, who constantly promises Hürrem to be faithful, and then goes enjoying making her jealous, Ibrahim does not intend to hurt Hatice ever again and I believe he wouldn’t  have even if he had lived much longer.
And then we see them at their best, most mature, most healthy relationship now they’ve dealt with their issues and decided to start anew no matter what. I think part of Hatice’s anxiety was being centered around her ideal, dream life and once cracks appeared (first crack was again the miscarriage), the issues began popping up, and she felt like world was slipping from her fingers. It is a psychological phenomenon, when sometimes big storm cleanses you because you give up on perfection, while a small crack can drive you crazy and be a nagging trigger.
Same with Ibrahim, who as Hatice’s husband and more and more successful vizier, began seeing that no matter his talents and achievements he’s still considered inferior to members of dynasty (including Süleyman ranting at beginning of S2 to Hürrem how nobody, including Ibrahim, is equal to him in Ibrahim’s earview). Hatice’s remark about him being servant (she obviously does not see him as that) would be perhaps part of normal marital quarrel otherwise, something thrown in anger, but for him it was a trigger. His relationship with Nigar was an escape from it all – unlike his relationships with Hatice and Süleymann, the dynastic aspect was gone, he was actually with someone inferior and doing something foribidden for damads. He himself believed in that fantasy world he created with Nigar and even remarked to his brother he would like to run away with the woman he loved (aka Nigar) back to Parga, but it was all an illusion. He did TRULY LOVE Hatice, NOT Nigar, but he could not get over at that moment with how much she stood for and was part of the system he abhorred (same with Süleyman). He loves both Hatice and Suly a lot, but at the same time he hates the system they stand for and this conflict drives him a lot in S2 . When he says why Esmanur is his favourite child he remarks that while he loves his children with Hatice, Esmanur is so precious to him because she’s not part of any dynasty he’s subservient to. At the same time he has his crisis with Hatice, he goes through several crises in this aspect with Süleyman too (and again, both conflcts are played at roughly the same time).  All things that would later doom him happened in S2 (things that he was guilty of, not simply blamed for something he didn’t do), he’s far more relaxed and certain of himself and his place in S3 before his death.
And after all problems were dealt with, Hatice’s paranoia concerning Ibrahim’s potential infidelity was healed once and for all. Even when Hürrem tries to scheme again and arranges Ibrahim to meet Nigar by accident in the Marble Pavillon, Hatice does not even intend to check because she trusts him 100% now. They were truly a happy family before Ibrahim’s death.
What destroyed once and for all was Ibrahim’s death and afterwards because it wasn’t just death of a spouse – following this event she effectively lost also another person very close to her – her brother. Of course after such horrible death when her husband’s body was dumped in unnamed grave in the forest and she can’t even go there (I suppose Matrakçi didn’t want to take her there because he was afraid seeing this could only make her despair more) as a result of brutal power games in the palace after which nobody was safe, a sensitive person lost it. Especially since she lost three people to whom she was closest most of out of her family in very close succession – her mother, her husband and her brother. And she had to live under one roof with people responsible for her husband’s death. Mahidevran and Mustafa also were gone to Manisa. She had Sah, who despite all loved her and wanted to help her, but it was of course a difficult relationship, also with some unresolved things. And instead of truly being there for his sister, Süleyman repeatedly made her even harder to heal by removing all traces of Ibrahim and trying to erase him, allowing Hürrem to hold a party in harem during mourning period, marrying her off against her will, ordering her to leave her palace, dismissing her as crazy and not trusting her at all (or again perhaps that’s what he wanted to believe) when Hürrem beat her up, etc. He never tried to understand her or truly talk to her, all he did was a series of actions that claimed were to make her heal, but were in fact cold orders that often were to made him feel better than actually help Hatice (but he could fool himself he is trying to help of course).
Then of course all injustices that befell Mustafa and his and Mahidevran’s despair, feeling that indeed Mustafa would be next and he would face Ibrahim’s fate made her decide for last desperate step.
And it’s again telling when Hatice comes to Süleyman following Hürrem’s disappearance – she says she finally has her brother again because now they experience the same and he finally understands her. For a short while, she looked happier because she finally had her brother back. Then again when she had her suicide speech he was again all about WHERE’S HURREM instead of even trying to listen to his sister’s words.
I think she was okay mother before Ibrahim’s death and later she was non-functional due to depression and since she could never consult a therapist or even leave this place forever (then she would be alone forever anyway), it could only lead to tragedy.
Hatice is precisely a tragic character, a sensitive soul which the palace life totally destroyed and all she wanted was to be happy with her family. She was a princess yet she could never be free or feel safe. Marrying for love was the only time she truly got what she wanted out of life and without it she would not only have even that. I think that even if she married someone she doesn’t love, so she would not be scared of losing them/would not suffer that much because of their loss would not make her be happier. She could even look at her sister, Beyhan, who didn’t marry for love and whose husband was executed for serious stuff, but yet she lost her brother forever and underwent serious trauma. Gevherhan in MYK also didn’t marry Topal out of love, but she nevertheless decided to create a happy family with him and tried to cherish what she had, but still she was humiliated by her brother, who again executed her (traitor)husband for a show after finally having paid attention to his neglected sister a day before, and her son was left without a father, their whole life uprooted. No matter who she married, Hatice could never be free of betrayal, death and power schemes, so at least she got some true love.
I think that it’s better to have something in your life even if loss than is more painful than if we don’t care about it than live more “secure”, especially since in Hatice’s case she could never have a peaceful life by the mere fact she belonged to the Ottoman dynasty and all its upheavals and conflicts had to somewhat always affect her.
And when it comes to betrayal, it was Süleyman’s, not Ibrahim’s, betrayal that Hatice could never recover and heal from.

“In the darkest nights, you shine like a star, my sultana… with the power of sunlight that scatters its shine. Even moon runs away before this mighty splendour. I, Ibrahim, your slave, is blinded by the light. There is no salvation for me my sultana.” Ibrahim to Hatice
“You are so beautiful, so full of light that the skies become merry by you, smile with you. While this is how it is, can someone be shocked that a man should fall in love with you? For this reason, for as long as I live, and even if I go under earth, just know I am your subject and slave, that is enough.” Silahtar to Gevherhan

Please explain what option you chose. Nibrahim of course means “Nigar/Ibrahim”.
If you are a Hatibo (Hatice/Ibrahim) shipper or an Ibo/Suly (Ibrahim/Süleyman) shipper you can also (please) tell what is the sexiest scene of those ships because I am earnestly curious. They have a lot of good scenes too but what is the favorite.
Anyway, happy new year to my evil (yet sexy) arrogant egoistic bisexual cinnamon roll Ibo.

@faintingheroine is write about how much season 3 romanticises Ibrahim/Hatice. And not only that, but Ibrahim himself gets an obscene amount of romanticisation.

Just saw a gif set of Hatice and Ibrahim, and it reminded me, remember how they spent like 30 hours worth of television talking about how much their love was forbidden and if the Sultan discovered them Ibrahim would lose his life?
And then Suleiman found out and was just kind of like “Bro, you guys should get married!” Like talk about creating your own damn problems.
