Movie #18 Gigli (2003)

So … his name is GIGLI, and it’s pronounced to rhyme with REALLY. Which, is something I found myself saying a LOT!!! He is supposed to be a gangster, but he is such a bad gangster that his boss has to hire J-lo as back up gangster … There is a guy that is meant to be a little “slow” in the head, and Gigli is nothing but rude and horrible to him, but then, when he has to prove how badass he really is, he can’t even cut off the guys thumb. The entire kidnapping/gangster story line feels like something they just threw on there. I paid the usual amount of attention I would to a movie of this caliber, and somehow missed the entire reason they kidnapped him, HOW they managed to do it and all the important plot points of the entire movie. What I hate most about this is the way that it puts down lesbians? I mean, J-lo has this kind of clever scene where she describes why women are the more desirable, sexy sex, and I’m even feeling a little convinced – but then she jumps in bed with Gigli after having a fight with her ex-girlfriend! If you are a lesbian, having sex with Gigli is going to be the least appetizing thing in the world. I’m into men, and I’m thinking it is STILL the least appetizing thing in the world … OH GOD!!! The sex scene has made me feel totally fine with being celibate for the last little while. I can’t even think about sex right now without being super grossed out!! AND THIS GUY IS GOING TO BE BATMAN?!?!?! 1/10
