okay to this scene is very different from the game one but in a good way I think. They’re much more on each other’s nerves in this than in the game, it seems. That back and forth “what’re you doing?” “Killing time” is done very slowly in the game, and Ellie’s more confused than anything. But here, Ellie’s more agitated with him and raises her voice. And Joel responds really quick to her, as opposed to the game. I don’t know where I was going with this I’m very tired

Amoroso - this book actually covers pre-colonial philippines until mid-arroyo administration. it's an easy to understand but comprehensive overlook of philippine state and society and highlights usa-ph relations when relevant, most especially during the 20th century and the marcos era.

Architects of Networked Disinformation: Behind the Scenes of Troll Accounts and Fake News Production in the Philippines by Jonathan Corpus Ong and Jason Vincent A. Cabañes

bonus i can recommend, if you're interested in america's meddling in third world affairs, is vincent bevin's the jakarta method. it doesn't center on the philippines but it does discuss america's role in the indonesian genocide of the 60s and how it can be paralleled to many 20th century events worldwide. overall great book and just like abinales and amoroso, is easy to understand while not sacrificing comprehension.
