what language did you learn in school and can you actually speak it?
#english and german#a little bit of french when i was in primary school#i speak english and i speak german pretty well now#and i am learning french#i can understand a lot but i can't speak very well#in spain most schools have french or german as a second foreign language#but some of them have portuguese and italian too#i hesitate to add latin and greek because our teachers focused more on translation#and teaching us enough grammar to read cicero tacitus etc#which is a smart move imo#i have learnt so much about grammar in general and read so many interesting texts because of that approach#i wouldn't have understood russian participles had i not learnt latin in school
