'Are you quite certain' yes i am certain i want to know what this WIP is 👀

I have to disappoint you since it's for another fandom but since you gave me the excuse to ramble about it I very gladly shall! This is a fic for Potop/The Deluge (the 2nd book in Sienkiewicz's Trilogy, so Polish historical fiction!) and the basic premise of the fic is that the love interest/deuteragonist Oleńka swaps plots with her boyfriend/the protagonist Kmicic. So in this she's the one who betrays the all-important country (temporarily) as the figurehead and executioner for the Radziwiłł cause.

I'm willing to admit this is probably incredibly unlikely as an ostensibly 17th century premise, but I'm always obsessed with how this character is so incredibly self-possessed and such a leader in her own right. Major ideologue potential imo (in the original, she's the feminine voice of morality the whole way through, but in a really compelling & torn way). And I really do think that given her background she could be swayed by a version of Janusz Radziwiłł's speech to Kmicic. After all, she knows about real responsibility (unlike her boyfriend.) She values human life (...also unlike her boyfriend)

An adherent is of absolute necessity. Someone bold, brave, of noble reputation and untarnished name—someone ready for anything, with the pure and perfect faith that youth gives. Someone who could be the apostle of a cause.

“’Die!’” Radziwiłł quotes. “How easy it is for those of us who can die. A soldier can die, Billewiczówna. But you and I are not soldiers, are we? We are leaders of the men and women who look to us for aid. To solve the problems they cannot.”

The girl is quiet. His words have struck a chord.

Janusz shakes his head sorrowfully. “What a weighty thing that is.” He paces circles around her, hands behind his back. “Can you imagine the destruction that invasion would wreak on our country, Billewiczówna? On all those people? If you think your lot is hard, my dear, imagine mine: I, who manage not a handful of villages, but the Duchy itself. Our Lithuania—long abused, and now destroyed. Can’t you picture the charred ruins of our homes and castles, the fleeing mobs trampled under the Swedes’ hooves? First the Swedish cannon, then the Russian sabre. It all goes up in smoke, and the survivors curse the life that remains to them, that they see themselves so debased.”

Oleńka’s Jędruś had burned Woltmontowicze. Ash had rained from the sky like snow.

so yeah a good part of this WIP is me enjoying repurposing canon quotes and scenarios:

“There’s nothing like a journey for griefs,” her aunt dares to put forward when she sees her niece’s drawn expression.

Oleńka bows her head and doesn’t respond.

Auntie, a little scared, perhaps, of this new Oleńka and her silence, waits a moment. “Put out the first campfire yourself. Or toss a red ribbon behind you as you go. The girls say it’s the best cure for thwarted love.”

One day I'll write some more of this one, I really wanna let this premise fly freely from the nest into the tiny world of Potop fic even if it's not all written out :D

ohhh your take on diluc is very interesting! i suppose based on his history, he does seem like the type to do that. mmm yeah he’s definitely not going to deal well with the aftermath of reader’s death. i can see him overworking himself and avoiding resting like a plague because resting means his brain will automatically think back to reader, and he can’t spiral down again. but either way, it won’t do well for his health ;(((

yesyes i love the inner turmoils in all those three scenarios for sure!!

xiao’s line “for once, Alatus doesn't think he can bear it any longer.” makes me imagine a continuation scene where he finally succumbs to his karmic debts right then and there... ;w;

kazuha’s line “Kazuha's heart is only one, but death seems to favor him so much that it keeps taking pieces of his soul little by little.” honestly broke a piece of my heart. my poor bby. he deserves so many hugs.

zhongli’s line "Even if it hurts." is just. sldkjflskjdf. i have no words, bc of course he endures, that’s just so him.

and lastly, yes - itto going through a series of emotions are so in character, cause i can totally see him not knowing what to do in the situation. from denial to anxious to desperate to anger and more denials *chefs kiss*

and the last lines for everyone’s part is just sldkfjsldf it’s like a jab to the chest (but a good kind of jab…. if that makes sense LOL)

speaking of fresh air, perhaps i should have traded one of the silent grievers for albedo. hmmm. it’s an interesting thought - how would albedo handle sadness and lost? ... ehe~ alrighty, i think i got one character i will want to put in the request for next time >:))

and yes, there's a reason the last lines are italicized~ they were supposed to be like an epiphanic jab somewhat? i have a weird habit of making the last lines hit the most like i just had to. 🤌

ooo, albedo? ah, yes, yet another silent griever who isolates himself from the rest of the world 👀 albedo is well-aware of the mortality within you, the fragility of your body, the impending doom that can claim you at any second if it so wishes, he knows that. albedo has prepared for it the moment he allowed himself to fall for you — or, that's what he thought.

after you're gone, his lab in dragonspine that used to be his second home now becomes his only home. people start to wonder, does the chief alchemist not bother at all about the death of his lover? he rarely ever comes down to mondstadt these days, almost never. but here in his lab is where albedo buries himself in memories of you, knowing that you were once here, bringing him cups of coffee and accompanying him during the cold nights — and he'd rather stay here than anywhere else.

when i open requests in the future, it looks like it's guaranteed i'd see an angsty request from you >:) and with our resident chief alchemist too gasps

ooooooh svsss is the mxtx story i know the least about; other than ur general "aaaaaah i love it!!!!!" what are ur thoughts? 👀👀👀

BATSHIT HILARIOUS. SURPRISINGLY VERY GOOD. HERE HAB RAMBLE.

I knew the premise of svsss before reading it but not much else? So I had seen, like, fan arts of this big tiddy goth man and a green twink and I was like oh, this seems cool, big tiddy goth man is kind of hot? Perhaps I shall simp??

And then I read the book.

I now know Luo Binghe is a guy who, in the original novel pre-Shen Qingqiu transmigrating, was a hot goth evilman with a harem and murderous tendencies. However, the actual Luo Binghe in the plot is the single most pathetic yandere I have ever seen. The gap moe is hilarious.

Like, here you have a Badass (tm) Demon Warrior. He kills people!! With an evil sword!! BUT ALSO HE SPENDS THE WHOLE BOOK CRYING AT HIS SHIZUN AND IT'S JUST. Mmmm gap moe.

Shen Qingqiu spends the first half of the novel going ?? Why Luo Binghe no chase pretty girls?? Why do I keep getting all the female lead's events with Binghe?? Why Binghe so clingy?? Where Binghe harem??? And spends the second half bemoaning how he's ruined a perfectly good hetero because now Binghe is gay and in love with him and fighting people who he talks to and self-flagellating himself out of yandere crazy person tendencies.

It damn well SHOULD NOT BE AS FUNNY AS IT IS. And!! That's not even mentioning how meta the whole thing is!! Because Shen Qingqiu is a GODDAMN FANDOM ANTI and he talks like one!! He bitches about plot holes, that he's not allowed to be OOC for the first few chapters, about how stupid the romance plot lines are, that the protagonist has plot armor, yada yada yada.

And at one point you get to meet the actual author?? Of the book??? And author and anti have to work together?? Said author spends a lot of time bitching about how his book sucks so bad because he needed to appease his audience and, lemme tell ya, a lot of his complaints were relatable.

At one point he tells Binghe that to woo his shizun he needs to be pathetic and cute because men like pathetic and cute things. Binghe internalizes this and it becomes his personality for the rest of the novel excepting a minor stretch where he goes batshit insane. He is, in universe, pathetic. And it's on purpose.

So like, I can blame the plot of the original in-universe novel on the author, but also the new plot of the in-universe novel on the author, and the plot of svsss itself on the author?? Which is just the sort of mind-bending meta bullshit that happens in svsss and it's glorious. Speedread this thing in a couple days and it was worth the lost sleep.

OH ALSO LUO BINGHE'S DAD IS GREAT. Not to spoil anything major but despite being Hot Powerful Demon Man, he was also Binghe's mom's sugar baby and kind of a prissy princess. Bless Tianlang Jun. I expected this novel to be mostly humor and it was but also there were Unexpected Angst Moments for the Soul and as a whole it is a very good book.
