Okay but I've been thinking about your Pepa/Bruno/Julieta post + papa Bruno AU and like... What if they found out about the grandkids committing an inc3st and freaked out because they've been there, they understand those feelings, but they also know/think that those feelings are what ruined the family?
After all, Mirabel didn't get a gift, and Bruno left without a word when he made a prediction about her. Would something like that happen again if Camilo had a child with one of his cousins or his sister? And even if it's just Isamira or Isalores, so babies aren't a worry, what's to say that it will go unpunished? The magic is a weird thing- for all they know, it might just stop working someday, or mess up their powers in some way. They can't let their kids make the same mistakes they made, the mistakes that put the family in danger in the first place.
Ooh that’s a wonderful idea. I can imagine the triplets being particularly vicious and brutal in their desperation to stop it, because they can’t let this tragedy happen again, they can’t let their children repeat their crimes - and maybe one of Julieta’s daughters expected her to be more forgiving, more understanding, more willing to give them a chance. They knew it would shake her but they hoped she’d say something about loving them unconditionally - they didn’t expect her to get angry, to shout and cry and make them feel genuine fear. And don’t get me started on Pepa, oh she’d freak out, and maybe she’d spill the truth right there and then if Julieta is capable of keeping herself quiet.
Bruno wouldn’t get angry. He doesn’t yell or make his niblings - or children -  feel attacked - he blames himself. He says he should have seen this. He chastises himself for being too cowardly to have a vision and at least be ready for the inevitable, for letting this happen on the first place, for being a terrible uncle/father and not being able to stop it - maybe he has an anxiety attack or cries or at the very least needs to sit down and asks to be alone.
Their reactions are frankly frightening and it makes them regret telling them the truth immediately. Whether the adults tell them the truth, keep them in the dark or if they can infer the implications from their reaction, it depends. I think Mirabel and maybe Dolores would be observant enough to see through them but maybe not so sure about the rest.
I think it’d be a very heartbreaking scene, when a specific kid finds out about their true parentage (in my head it’s totally Bruno and Mirabel but it doesn’t have to be).
Ay Bruno blaming himself for Mira’s giftlessness TT_TT because he just HAD to be in love with his sister and he just HAD to make the worst decision of his life - never mind that Julieta made that decision with him, he still blames himself.
But on the other hand, not making that decision would mean Mirabel wouldn’t exist, and this is her child and he loves her so much and if he ever accidentally implies that letting her be born was a mistake, it would break Mirabel’s heart and shatter her already fragile self-esteem. After all, no one wants an inc3st baby. Inc3st babies are mistakes by definition and they put the whole family in peril. Maybe she was right. Maybe the problem wasn’t a specific set of problematic behaviors she reproduced - mistakes, bad decisions, troubles she started - maybe the problem was that... there was simply something inherently, intrinsically wrong with her. Like she was a curse. Some black sheep sent to torment her family. And now, she knows why - I mean, look at her parents! Even they agree that she shouldn’t exist, and the family would be better if she wasn’t there. It’s not rational, but it’s how it can make you feel :(
