Muse (Jotaro Kujo)
Muse

Would you be surprised that Jotaro Kujo actually has a soft spot for drawing? You didn’t believe it at first, but when you saw him take out that small notebook of his and start drawing, man did you realize it then that he’d be engrossed in that thing until something finally caught his attention. Once again, you were the one trying to catch his attention before giving up because of Kakyoin’s calls to do something else. You staggered over towards him as he decided to be the one to help you in what you needed, which particularly was simple and wondered why you wanted Jotaro to do it.
You pouted and looked at the ground. “Jotaro’s more intimidating and could get rid of the problem much faster,” You mumbled.
He chuckled. “That’s fine, (Y/n). I can see now. I’ll do my best to help you,” He smiled at you.
There was this group of men in front of the hotel and you wanted to go out to get gas for the car while Polnareff and Mr. Joestar scouted the town you all were at. The group had been catcalling women for a while now, and you saw them do it when you arrived last night as well. You thought Jotaro would help you by keeping his stone façade up as you two walked past.
“No, it’s not that much of a trouble,” You shook your head. “I’ll just wait and make Polnareff do it. He just put the job on me because he wanted to help Mr. Joestar for a bit.” You sighed.
“It’s alright, (Y/n). Let’s go. I’m sure it won’t be bad if they notice you with me.”
“What are you two muttering about,” Jotaro asked as you both looked at him.
“We’re going to get gas for the car,” You hummed with a nod. “There’s a group of guys in front of the building catcalling girls, and I wanted to get you to intimidate them, but Kakyoin says he’s got it.”
Jotaro huffed and stood. “Knowing you two, you’ll both idiotically get in trouble. Let’s go.”
Kakyoin nudged you and gave a sly smirk and motioned towards him. Your cheeks flushed as butterflies fluttered in your stomach. The large-stone cold teen just so happen to be your crush, and Kakyoin knew this because you confided in him about it. He’s been encouraging you since he found out, which was the day you two met. You 3 left the hotel and walked out front.
“Look at her, eh,” A guy laughed.
The group of catcallers stopped you, Jotaro, and Kakyoin.
“Hey, why don’t you come have fun with us,” A guy looked at you and winked.
“Yeah, we can give you a very good time,” Another guy nodded his head with a smirk.
Your face flushed in embarrassment as you tried to inch backwards. You bumped into something, and instantly recognized the aura that stood behind you was Jotaro.
Since when did he get behind me, you thought quietly.
Jotaro placed a hand on your shoulder. “Go ahead and head to the car (Y/n). I’ll take care of these idiots,” He hummed.
You gave a slow nod and looked towards Kakyoin, who nodded and motioned towards the car that was in sight. You slowly started walking.
“Hey don’t ignore us-!” You heard a punch. You snapped your head back to see a guy on the floor.
The rest of the group cowered at the sight of Jotaro taking a step forward. You decided the smart idea was to rush off without any complications. You sat in the car and checked the gas tank. Kakyoin got in the back as Jotaro got in the passenger seat.
“Did anything bad happen,” You asked with a hum as you started driving off. You looked in the rearview mirror as Kakyoin motioned towards Jotaro and winked. Your cheeks got hot. “I hope you two didn’t get in trouble because of me.”
“It was nothing,” Jotaro muttered.
You tried to be positive. “Thank you, Jojo…” You pulled into the gas station quickly and got out to get the gas pumped. Jotaro headed inside the store as Kakyoin leaned out the window while smirking at you.
“He really showed them, you know,” He chuckled.
Your cheeks got warm. “Don’t even tell me. I’d rather not know,” You sighed.
“But you do. I know you.”
“And you KNOW that I won’t listen.”
You paid for the gas and got back in the car just as Jotaro arrived. You started to drive off, content that you got something done for the day as you drove back to the hotel. After getting back and parking, you got out as Kakyoin was already heading inside.
“(Y/n),” Jotaro muttered.
You paused and turned towards him. “Yeah, Jojo,” You asked.
He stared down at you, his gaze piercing yours as you then struggled to stay underneath his gaze. “Next time, don’t hesitate to tell me you need help from me. I’ll pay more attention next time.”
You felt your cheeks warm up. “A-Actually, I knew you were drawing, so bothering you wasn’t exactly the best option if you were concentrating that hard. May I ask what you were drawing? You looked pretty engrossed in it and I thought it must’ve been very important to you if you were paying so much attention to it.”
He pulled out his small notebook from his pocket and flipped the page. He held it out to you as you took it in our hands to look. You stared at the drawing on the page to see that it was a picture of you. You were smiling of course, one of your signature looks because you couldn’t help but have a smile on your face sometimes, even in this state you all were in of trying to race to defeat Dio. You paid most attention to how detailed the drawing was. Your cheeks got warmer each second as you stared at the fine details before looking at him.
“This is really good,” You gleamed. “I mean, you captured the emotion perfectly! I didn’t know you drew this well! I thought you only held notes in this notebook of yours, and I’ve seen you doodle marine animals before, but this is just… This is amazing!!” You grinned. “I’m glad to be some sort of inspiration for you to draw this!”
His cheeks were dusted pink as he sighed. “Flip back a page.”
You blinked in confusion as you did what he told you. You saw another picture of yourself. This time, you were sleeping. More importantly, you were sleeping against the window of the car. You remembered sleeping on the way to the last place you all were at, but that was pretty vague based on your memory alone. That place went by quick. You flipped the page without asking. And saw another picture. And another. And another. And another. You blinked in confusion as you looked at Jotaro.
“You… took the time to draw all of these,” You asked, not sure what else to say.
He held up a second notebook. “This is the one you’ve seen. That one, I got after I met you,” He motioned towards the notebook in your hands.
“R…Really?” You were shocked. You both literally met a few weeks ago. And there were a fair good bit of drawings that looked like it took time and effort to make them in the quality they were at now. Did he seriously draw you in his spare time when you weren’t looking?
“Yeah. It’s hard to not to. You have a good facial structure that’s easy to draw.”
You swore that he was going to say something else instead of that. Your quickening heartrate diminished as soon as he said that as you slowly nodded. “I see,” You hummed.
“It’s also the fact that you’re beautiful. It’s hard not to keep an eye on you.”
Your heart fluttered again. This time, your heartbeat’s fast pace returned and you stared at him in shock. “Beautiful? You think that?” You really were at a loss for words now.
“Do I need to spell it out for you or are you going to keep standing there dazed out of your mind?” He leaned towards you a bit. “I like you, a lot, (Y/n). I wouldn’t draw you like this for no reason. That’s what stalkers do. I’m not a stalker. I genuinely like you.”
Your face got hot. “J-Jojo,” You squeaked. “I-I…” You shut his notebook and pressed it to his chest. “I like you too!” Your heartrate sped up. “I’ve liked you for a while! And I never really had the courage because of what we’re doing right now in saving your Mom and defeating DIO! So… I decided to keep my distance.” You gazed down a bit before sighing. “But now is as good as a time as any… I seriously want to thank you for protecting me earlier. I really appreciated it.” You looked at him again and realized he was closer to your face this time.
He tilted your chin up with his finger and brushed his lips against yours. You didn’t hesitate to lean into the kiss as your quickening heart finally started slowing down with the time. You both pulled away rather quickly, as both of you stared into each other’s eyes.
“Will you be my girlfriend, (Y/n),” He asked quietly. “You’re already my muse.”
You smiled and nodded. “Of course, I will.”
“Why do you two look like you’re about to start biting each other,” Polnareff called as you both looked to see him and Mr. Joestar walk up.
You gave a small growl. “Polnareff,” You yelled.
“W-What?!”
Jotaro chuckled and grabbed your arm. “Let’s just go inside. I want to draw you some more,” He pulled you along.
Your face got hot again as you walked away with him. “U-Uh, okay Jojo!”

Been working on this forever, but here’s my take on the Older Warners au, mostly with Wakko and his family. Basically, this relates back to the rockstar!au I thought up for Wakko a while back where he joins a band a few years after the original Animaniacs ended, only now he also starts a family along the way. Currently, Wakko is a single dad raising fraternal twins named Jojo and Smakko and teaches them both how to be zany toons like him. Eventually, he moves his family back to the Warner Bros lot during the production of the Animaniacs reboot, where Yakko and Dot also help out with raising the twins.
More details about the story and the twins for anyone’s that curious, because I’ve been thinking about this au for a pretty long time.
Given that they’re toons, the Warners shouldn’t be able to age, and yet if they did then it would be completely unexplained. One day they woke up and realized that they were aging just like humans. Of course this haunts each of them, including Yakko, who does all that he can to reassure his siblings that eventually this will pass and they’ll go back to being kids again. However, that wasn’t the case, and the three learn to accept that growing up was just a part of life. Even so, age wasn’t going to stop the Warners from serving justice to the unjust and wrecking havoc on adults with massive egos, which would go on until their late teens.
During these years Wakko’s love for music also grows, and eventually he ends up forming a band with a few other toons around the studio. At first, their performances consisted of causing chaos around the lot and crashing production shoots-- infuriating Plotz to no end as the current CEO at the time-- yet when they noticed they were receiving positive attention from curious onlookers and angsty teens that liked their approach in fighting against the system, the band decided to become official. With this, Wakko is the first to leave the Warner Bros. lot and pursue his dreams of becoming a rockstar just like his idols. At first, he played as the band’s chaotic drummer, but as the years went on and he grew more confident, he also had the chance to man the front and sing a few solos for their band that would be named Toonz.
A few years later, Dot is the next to leave as she goes on to become a successful business woman and leave her child actor days behind. Yakko is the only one who ends up staying on the lot and continues to call the water tower home. At first, he started out as a comedian who did shows regularly, but as time went on and he became a little tone deaf with his audience, he started doing small acting bits around the studio. Yakko’s biggest achievement yet was creating a small web series where he posted educational songs to teach children certain topics, including a video that was an updated version of his iconic “countries of the world” song.
Meanwhile, Toonz takes the nation by storm. The attention they get is astounding, so much so, that they’re nearly invited everywhere in Hollywood, or if not then they’d crash it anyway. One party they crash in particular is where Wakko ends up meeting the twin’s mother. The party was held by a popular British singer named Jojo who was living in the states at the time and the twin’s mother so happened to be one of her stage managers. Jojo is unamused by the party crashers antics, yet tries to make the most of her night by introducing the twin’s mother to Wakko. One thing led to another and strangely the two began hitting it off, that is, until Wakko drunkenly sings “Wakko’s America” and crashes through a glass table.
Thank to Jojo and Toonz doing tons of collabs between each other, Wakko and the twins’ mother saw each other constantly. Eventually their random encounters turned into dating, and already two years had gone by. She was different than the other women he dated, and by that, really one of the only people who could put up with his cartoony antics. Not to mention, she also had a long-time hobby in drawing and sketching, which Wakko always loved posing as her muse. Eventually, Wakko decided to take their relationship to the next step and the two got married in Vegas.
One night, after Wakko and his wife returned from a long night of drinking and partying, the twins’ mother found herself drawing two twins that looked like Wakko from the original Animaniacs series. She didn’t now what possessed her to come up with them, but for some reason, she really felt like drawing them. As usual, Wakko being made of ink provided color for the sketch and gave them their black fur and red noses. All was going well until the twin’s mother accidentally got a paper cut and bled onto the page. After this, the two decided to call it a night and went to bed, unaware of what was happening to the page as they were sleeping.
Later that night, the two heard a loud crash coming from the kitchen. Afraid that it was a couple of robbers, Wakko goes to investigate, claiming that he wanted to greet his new “special” friends. What Wakko ends up finding instead are two little toon babies with puppy dog ears, cat-like tails, black furred with white faces, and tiny little pink noses that looked exactly like him. Upon further investigation, they soon discovered that the page they drew the twins on earlier was blank, which meant that for some reason, the twins came to life exactly the same way Wakko did (except they came out as babies.) Thus, Jojo and Smakko Warner were brought into the world and Wakko and his wife were now parents.
For the next decade, Wakko continued playing in the band while his wife stayed home to take care of the kids. Whether it’d be at practice or having yearly tours, Wakko unfortunately couldn’t be with his kids as much as he wanted to, yet, when he was able to spend some quality time with them, he gave it his all. He got to see what an adorable and excitable girl Jojo was, what a mischievous nature she held in courtesy of the Warner name, and what a big heart she had for those around her. As for Smakko, though he was timid and shy he was also very inquisitive, and with inheriting his Daddoo’s toon abilities the boy was practically the spitting image of him.
For years, it seemed as if nothing could tear the family apart. Sure, the twins had their moments, as well as most kids did; if anything they were more well behaved than the father they came from. Not only that, but barely were there any arguments or secrets kept between parents and children. Yet, nothing could have prepared Wakko for the day his wife died in a tragic accident, leaving him alone as a single father. Knowing that the twins had no one else to care for them, Wakko retired from the band to commit himself full-time in raising Jojo and Smakko.
A year later, Wakko buys an RV and decides to take his kids on the road. He wanted to teach them everything he knew when they were his age, get the chance to see the world, and help them get in touch with their toon heritage. Though Jojo was more than excited to spend time with her Daddoo as much as possible, Smakko on the other other hand was less than thrilled. All the boy wanted was for things to return back to normal; when their mother was always around and their Daddoo seemed more concerned with his band.
Months into this family entourage, and Wakko gets a call from Yakko:  Animaniacs was returning, and they wanted all three of the Warner siblings to come back. With this, Wakko moves the twins to the Warner Bros. lot and gives them the chance to see where he grew up. They move into the water tower with Yakko, who is more than happy as he’s been rather lonesome for the last two decades. Dot however is a little less than compliant to return to her roots, but eventually she warms up to the idea that the reboot would be willing to work with a more mature version of herself. Now that the three Warner siblings were reunited plus two, the family works together to bring back the joy and laughter that the original series gave to many. Though they’re a lot older, the three siblings are convinced they still have it in them. Eventually once the reboot runs its course, Wakko intends to get him and the kids back on the road, but for now, they’re content where they’re at.
Now, about the twins!
Jojo Warner:
Birthday: June 8th, 2009 (11 years old)
Fraternal twin sister to Smakko.
Since the parents were brought together by the singer, Jojo, she had the honor of being the girl’s godparent. With this, she named the baby after herself in defense of saying that “Jojo” wasn’t her real name, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t be their daughter’s.
Her ears are bigger than any of the other Warners, which is why they usually need to be tied back. Not like they cover her eyes or anything, but when she was little she used to chew on them constantly, causing concern for the new parents.
The heart hair tie she wears is from her mother and she treasures it dearly.
Out of both her parents, she has a stronger relationship with her Daddoo due to their mischievous and childlike personalities.
Just like Wakko, she has a ravenous appetite that only got bigger with age. As a toddler, if she didn’t get to eat right away, she would run around the house and throw a giant tantrum until she got her way. Sometimes, she still has a tendency to do this if her heart is set on something.
The only Disney movie she’s ever seen is Frozen, which proved her Daddoo’s point about them being mindless garbage when she wouldn’t stop singing Let It Go for months. Because of this, the kids were banned from seeing anymore Disney films.
When she was five, she ripped off Wakko’s tail while rough housing with it. Though it wasn’t that big of a deal thanks to Wakko being part salamander, that didn’t stop him from tricking Jojo into thinking she tore it off for good. Of course, the prank went too far when Jojo broke down in tears and begged over and over about how sorry she was, so Wakko finally decided to show his kids their amazing regenerating abilities and grew his tail back. Smakko immediately threw up after this. (I swear, that tail scene in the reboot was hella nasty)
One of her favorite hobbies is collecting weird things she finds on her adventures, whether it be a strangely shaped rock, a piece of trash, and yes, she even still has her Daddoo’s tail.
Another one of her favorite hobbies is playing with the small guitar her Daddoo gave her. On warm summer nights, Wakko and Jojo will sit on the roof of the RV or the water tower and sing into the night. Some of their favorites include songs by the Beatles, or songs by various rock groups. While her Daddoo strums on an electric guitar, she comes in with her acoustic to create a beautiful yet strange harmony. She hopes to be the lead singer of her own band one day.
Despite living up to the Warner name, Jojo didn’t inherit any of their cartoon abilities, which bugs her to this day. The only way she can keep up with her family’s antics is by engaging in witty banter and annoying the heck out of her victims. Sort of a mixture of Yakko and Dot’s form of humor.
She gets along well with her Uncle Yakko since both of them can’t keep their mouths shut. During the Warners’ escapades, she looks to Yakko on how to strengthen her form of humor.
As for her Aunt Dot, the two are slowly forming a relationship. Due to Jojo’s tomboyish nature, Dot has a harder time getting on her level of understanding-- though that doesn’t mean the two don’t confide in each other if they ever need to rant about the boys of the family.
She’s considered the leader of the twins due to being more confident and does most of the talking during their escapades.
She’s also very social, which leads her wanting to engage in more activities with kids her age such as going to school or trying to find her own niche of friends. Luckily, she ends up finding her own group when she befriends some of the child stars at the Warner Bros. studio.
Since her mother’s death, she believes that her mother looks down on them from the brightest star in the sky and grants them wishes. Every night, Jojo makes the same exact wish, not for herself but for her family:  She wishes for Wakko to have all the happiness in the world while she wishes for Smakko to be more confident in himself.
Smakko Warner:
Birthday: June 8th, 2009 (11 years old)
Basically my take on the forgotten character, Smakky from the original drafts of the Warners but like, less angry and more anxious.
He was a fussy baby. Most nights, he refused to be left alone in his crib and cried for hours into the night until his parents surrendered and consoled him. Usually this was an inconvenience for both Wakko and his wife, as well as the neighbors when they used to live in an apartment. One night, Wakko nearly got in a fight with a neighbor after they complained about the child’s insistent crying.
Out of both parents, he favors his mother the most. Her soft voice and reassuring words were always his form of comfort throughout his childhood. Due to Wakko always practicing with the band or going on tours, Smakko didn’t gain that much of a connection with him. Most of the time, Smakko found his Daddoo to be a little scary due to his brash cartoon nature.
Out of both twins he’s the shyest and will usually cling onto his family members whenever he meets someone new. He also has a tendency to get nervous real easily. Opponents are to be wary when they back him into a corner, lest they want to face his fearful wrath.
Unlike his sister, his toon abilities appeared the minute he was born. Upon naming him, he summoned a baby rattle and smacked his uncle on the head with it until he was given back to his mother. Hence, the boy was given the name “Smakko.”
Nowadays, the boy is able to summon mallets to his whim, cream pies to his choosing, and is able to teleport from place to place— however, this only happens whenever he’s frightened or really stressed. If anyone gets him extremely anxious, they either get pounded with a mallet or blown up with dynamite. In a way, his cartoon abilities act as a defensive reflex.
Another conundrum the parents faced during Smakko’s first years was being able to keep track of him. Most of the time, the boy would hide constantly either because he felt uncomfortable or something scared him. Sometimes, he’d end up in the most bizarre places such as in the freezer, in a load of laundry, or even in the ceiling. The only reason his parents knew where to find him was if they heard crying.
While his sister’s form of comedy is vocal, his is more physical like his Daddoo’s.
He also has a really small appetite compared to his Daddoo and sister. Most days, he can last with just a bowl of cereal up until dinner. He’s just not as passionate about eating like the rest of his family. Adding onto that, he’s a vegetarian. He gets sick at the thought of eating meat or harming animals to get his meal.
He’s very fond of animals, mostly smaller animals that he can pick up. He’s considered many times getting a pet, but due to the Warners active lifestyle, it’s something that’ll have to wait. As for now, he’ll help move bugs from getting crushed or summon food for hungry strays. (Rita and Runt go to him constantly for free food.)
He likes his Aunt Dot more than his Uncle Yakko. His uncle talks too much which overwhelms him. Meanwhile, Dot has that toned down personality that sort of resembles his mother’s, that is, until her brothers get her riled up.
Though Smakko loves his family, sometimes their crazy antics can get a little much. He misses his mother dearly considering that she was the only form of normalcy in his life. Now that she’s gone, he feels rather lost and doesn’t know how to open up to his Daddoo. Wakko on the other hand tries all that he can to calm himself around Smakko and assures him that his Dadoo will always be there for him. However, the boy’s anxiety is one that Wakko will have to learn to work with.

Favorite Villains - La Squadra di Esecuzione (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Tumblr media
Part 5 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Vento Auero, takes us to 2001 Italy, where a civil gang war between stand users creates a vaccum of power in the Venetian mafia. From this description alone, you may be able to guess this is my favorite Jojo season yet--with my love of Italian culture and organized crime stories allowing this to cater perfectly to me. It also features La Squadra di Esecuzione (Italian for 'The Hitman Team'), who may be my favorite villainous force in Jojo yet. La Squadra isn’t actually the big bad--they’re the starters our heroes face on their way, and yet the way they are motivated and weaved into the narrative make them feel like organic parts of the conflict rather than mere stepping stones. The revolting assassins are a seven course meal consisting of Formaggio, Illuso, Pesci, Prosciutto, Melone, Ghiaccio, and Risotto.
What really struck me about La Squadra was their chemistry as a team. While they fight the heroes individually, we see a good deal of their inner workings in scenes exclusive to the anime that add a lot to their characters--most notably a sequence in which their conflict with the Boss of the Passione mafia is laid out. In charge of the dirty work of assassinations, la Squadra is mistreated by the higher ups of the mafia chain and paid the least of any branch. Sick of doing the hardest work for the least money, they conspired to overthrow the mysterious boss of the gang by discovering his identity, which no one has managed to uncover. The mere notion of doing so reached the boss, who retaliated by killing two of their men, Sorbet and Gelato. La Squadra is in the middle of a meeting wondering where their missing men are, when they receive a delivery of 36 packages. They unwrap them in a chilling scene where they discover each one contains a chunk of Gelato’s corpse, cut into 36 piece and encased in formaldehyde. La Squadra’s reaction is one of terror that truly humanizes them--they were fighting an injustice inflicted upon them and they are immediately silence. One can’t blame them for revolting, but they are swiftly made an example of.
Their dreams were crushed, that is, until word got out that the boss had an estranged daughter that the heroes were protecting for him (the heroes and la Squadra both unaware that the boss only wanted his daughter protected so he could personally kill her). Realizing the potential for a weak spot and ransom, La Squadra declares their goal to usurp the boss by taking his daughter, putting them at odds with Jojo and his new mafia family. One by one, La Squadra steps up to try and kidnap the boss’ daughter from her protectors, starting with Formaggio. Formaggio, being the first to fight, is also the shortest lived of La Squadra, but this actually benefits his character in the precedent he sets. He tracks down the youngest and most naive of the hero team, Narancia, and engages him with his stand, Little Feet. Despite being mocked by his peers, Formaggio is determined to prove that his stand, which can shrink objects as long as he can will it, isn’t as useless as it sounds. He and Narancia have a chaotic and bloody battle, and the way he ruthlessly pursues this young kid sets the standard for the story--these are gangsters and they’ll fight tooth and nail for power within the same organization. Narancia, his hand forced, goes from an unassuming kid that can barely read to just as much a violent mafia enforcer when he needs to defend himself, and it’s this flip in perspective that makes their battle so memorable. Cars are wrecked and blood is spilled as Formaggio tries to shrink Narancia and feed him to rats as well as throw shrunk down pieces of furniture from his pocket before expanding them in mid air.
A stand that can reduce objects’ size is much more suited to killing than one may realize--we see an assassination courtesy of Formaggio in a restaurant where he shrinks down a car and drops it into the drink of a politician the team’s been hired to kill. The politician unwittingly swallows the car, cuing Formaggio to release his powers, expanding the car inside his target and tearing him apart from the inside. I love Araki’s talent for coming up with idiosyncratic and unique powers that feel more like creative and intelligent phenomenon than mere “this guy gets fire powers and this guy gets shrinking powers”, and Formaggio is just one exception among the deadly hitmen lurking within La Squadra. Next on the list is IIluso, and to be blunt he’s the one I have the least to say about. He has very little personality to speak of outside of being a sort of indiscreet jerk even among his peers (quicker than anyone to call Formaggio’s stand useless and to air Sorbet and Gelato’s dirty laundry that they were an item). Even his stand, Man in the Mirror, I just feel is a poor man’s version of the part three villain Centerfold and his stand, Hanged Man. It also sucks that the good guy he fights is Fugo, who ends up written out of the story halfway through so he basically helps to introduce a stand that battles once and never shows up again.....Eeeeh, moving on.
The only two who cooperate at once are Prosciutto and Pesci, the duo of mentor and rookie gangsters. The composed and experienced Prosciutto gives lessons on the art of crime and assassination to the nervous Pesci, who at the start of the series has never even killed. Even though they aren’t my personal favorites, I think the short arc Prosciutto and Pesci go through in their chunk of episodes is the most dynamic of the bunch. The first lesson Prosciutto gives Pesci is to act instead of talk, and to have the confidence that he has already killed his foe rather than to be planning to. The unsure Pesci is eager to impress his mentor, who he calls a brother, a term of endearment in the mafia--but he’s easily scared and doesn’t have the constitution that’s expected of him. It doesn’t help that his Stand, Beach Boy, a fishing pole with a line that can go through solid objects, is easy to fumble and not as efficient as Prosciutto’s Grateful Dead, which rapidly ages his targets. But we see an interesting turn occur. Bruno confronts the duo as they ransack the train in search of the Boss’ daughter. With his brother by his side, Pesci actually manages to hold his own with Bruno a fair deal. Beach Boy turns out to be a perfect counter to Bruno’s Sticky Fingers, and Prosciutto is highly complimentary of his protege for the first time. The battle continues as Prosciutto tells Pesci to keep watch at the front of the train, Beach Boy’s line extended while he finishes Bruno off. Things don’t go that way though, and Bruno throws Prosciutto off the train and beneath the tracks. Pesci senses something is off...and sees the aging effects of the Grateful Dead wearing off the train’s passengers. His teacher had died just as he earned his approval.
And in a complete turn, Pesci’s fears disappear as his resolve hardens to fulfill his mission and kill the man that killed his ‘brother’. An angered train passenger calls Pesci ‘mammoni’ (Italian for Mama’s Boy, and the insult the other Squadra members would throw at Pesci) and Pesci takes his first life by killing him on the spot before stopping the train and challenging Bruno to a final duel of honor. I was sincerely rooting for Pesci at this point--he didn’t have good intentions but I was genuinely pretty sad that Bruno ultimately slayed him as well. I kind of really love that a stand as seemingly goofy as Beach Boy proved extremely deadly as he threw the line into Bruno’s chest and tied it around his heart, nearly killing him in a moment that had me on the edge of my seat.
This brings us to La Squadra’s resident freakshow, Melone. Melone is nearly the gang’s mad scientist type, the weirdo everyone lets lick his lips in the corner but they keep around for his brilliance. As if his habit of eyeing potential victims wasn’t enough, his stand is probably the most disturbing in the team--the laptop shaped Babyface. Before he gets his turn to fight, we constantly see Melone people watching and ogling pretty women. It’s hard to imagine this vile gangster having a nice idea of what he wants to do with these women, but when you grow to understand how Babyface works, you realize just how terrifying he is. By attaining the blood of a strong Stand user (in this case, Bruno, which he finds after his fight with Pesci) in the laptop, he can find a victim (preferably to Melone, a beautiful woman) whose body can be combined with the blood to create a living homunculus. The Homunculus has unlimited potential, and Melone can use Babyface to educate him in ways of assassination. I really love the imagery of Melone gently teaching his homunculus like it’s a little child, but precisely what he’s teaching him is torture and murder. It perfectly encompasses his depravity despite fancying himself a savante of sorts. Like most children, Melone finds that his Homunculus is too hot blooded to take orders for long, which proves his undoing. Unable to cooperate, the rapidly pubescent Homunculus fails to cooperate with his ‘father’, and both fall to Jojo’s might. Leaving just one member of la Squadra besides the BIG man himself.
Ghiaccio, my favorite member of la Squadra. From the moment I saw him at the first meeting between the disgruntled assassins, something about such a sleek design offset by such a garish face and the shouting vocal chords of Nobuhiko Okamoto (Bakugo in My Hero Academia) really drew me in. Temperamental and incredibly vocal, Ghiaccio isn’t afraid to say what everyone else is thinking. He calls the check they get from the boss chump change and asserts that la Squadra deserves better. He’s kinda the foundation of the mentality that way--even if everyone else was just too subtle to say so. That’s FAR from the only thing he’s mad about it though. Ghiaccio takes great pride in his Italian blood and detests anyone that would use the American pronunciation of ‘Venice’ for the city of Venezia. He damages his own damn car worked up over mere turns of phrase, a very different personality from the cool headed Prosciutto, intelligent Melone, or bewildered Pesci. Ghiaccio seems bullheaded and brash, but you’re not brash if you can back it up. Ghiaccio takes on both Guido Mista and Jojo with his deadly stand, White Album, which lowers temperatures around him to below sub-zero, to the point that an armor of ice forms around him. Remember how I said the huge strength of Jojo’s is that no one is ever JUST the ice guy or so on? Ghiaccio perfectly encompasses that. He isn’t a cryomancer per se, he just makes things SUPER cold, and has mastered his own ability. He chases the heroes in their car by forming ice skates out of his armor and freezing the road as he travels. Guido, with his sharp shooting Six Pistol stand, finds himself useless because White Album literally freezes the air around Ghiaccio, creating translucent shields that reflect projectile attacks, a tactic Ghiaccio calls “Gently Weeps”.
Ghiaccio may be a tantrum throwing psycho, but his conviction and overall moxie more than provides context to supply his attitude. His final confrontation is fucking BRUTAL. Guido fires away at Ghiaccio, who continually shields himself, not hurt or penetrated, but pushed backwards, into a spike on a light post. The spike barely penetrates the back of Ghiaccio’s neck, while Guido keeps shooting. Every bullet fires back INTO GUIDO, but with every push he shoves Ghiaccio further into the spike. The two literally have a game of chicken for who bleeds out first. But Ghiaccio reveals he’s won because HE HAS FROZEN HIS OWN SPURTING BLOOD, WHICH IS SUPPORTING HIS NECK FROM BEING SKEWERED ANY FURTHER. He outlasts Guido and for all intents and purposes, would have won, had Jojo not revealed himself to have survived his own encounter before he returned to finish the job. Ghiaccio talks of conviction and resolve, and you can’t fault him considering he kept fighting far past the point most would call death. It’s hard to look down on his temper when he’s as goddam hardcore as he is. I also think it's really cool how he counter's Jojo's Golden Experience, which creates life, by creating an inhospitably cold environment around him--I would've loved to see more of him as a foil.
So. Six really good trash boys fall, and all that’s left is the head of the snake, Risotto Nero, the towering boss of the Hitmen who is ready to open a can on those that made fools of his brothers. Risotto is a reasonable boss, he encouraged teamwork (quelling conflict between Illuso and Formaggio), but not to the point of romanticism (encouraging that everyone forget Sorbet and Gelato and move forward.) Despite this, in battle Risotto is anything but soft. Metallica is a microscopic stand that lives within Risotto’s blood stream. The deadly hitman can manifest metal in any shape he desires by focusing on the iron in his target’s blood. Meaning just by using his stand and focusing really hard, he can put nails in your hands, razor blades in your head, and needles in your mouth. Fighting Risotto isn’t a matter of combat, it’s one of torture, befitting to his nature as mafia enforcer. We see him squeezing info from an informant by continually creating and driving nails into his hand--and that’s really what he boils down to. He isn’t the kind to dazzle you with strategy or prove his superiority with incredible skill, he’ll overwhelm you with the most morbid pain he can imagine, and more or less with a mere thought, because it’s his job to kill, extort, and push his victims to their limit until they talk.
And such a dreadful foe doesn’t find himself engaging Jojo, Bruno, or Guido….but Doppio, the meek messenger boy of Passione whose only stand ability is to see ten seconds into the future. Risotto personally bullies the weaker foe and experiences little resistance, laying on excruciating punishment, demanding info on the Boss and his daughter. True to his nature as a mafioso, Risotto declares he’ll torment Doppio as long as it takes, as the sheer pressure forces Doppio to release a latent ability...King Crimson, the stand of the mysterious boss. An ecstatic Risotto realizes Doppio isn’t just the right hand of the boss, he IS Diavolo, the boss, hiding in plain sight. Risotto is about to achieve his dreams by killing the boss..who erases time and saves himself, making way for intervention by Narancia, who riddles Risotto with Aerosmith’s bullets to save who he assumes is the innocent Doppio, who manages to protect his identity for a bit longer. And I think this final end to La Squadra speaks to the tragedy of the team and of the narrative of Jojo Part 5 as a whole. It’s a story of a civil gang war--no one was born evil, they simply picked their sides, and at a certain point, they all had the same enemy in the form of Diavolo. Had no one been deceived by Diavolo’s enigma, Bruno and Risotto’s teams could have cooperated. However, Bruno was serving the boss while Risotto was fighting him, and when paradigms shifted, they were still in the wrong place, destroying each other in the name of an erroneous conflict. Though that may sound like a waste, there is nothing more romantically mafia-esque than dying for your chosen side out of conviction and loyalty. To do so defines being a gangster. You're not expendable if you fought for your brothers. The teachings of Prosciutto, cunning of Illuso, conviction of Ghiaccio, efforts of Pesci, intelligence of Melone, resolve of Formaggio, and capo honor of Risotto all could’ve been assets in another life, but the crossing bullets of a gang war scattered them, and if nothing else, made them insanely memorable villains.

Family Found Part 29: A Dangerous Road
Starrcade is a success. On Monday night, some secrets about what happened at Survivor Series come out, making some people doubt the Reader.
Warnings/Promises: wrestling violence, angst
Word Count: 3280
Note: I’m sorry if there are typos, I couldn’t get my fancy proof-program to connect. Now that Survivor Series is done, we’re getting into the more difficult stuff to write. The point of this series is to see if I can keep coming up with enough ideas to last a year. I am officially running out of the original ideas. Please let me know what you guys have liked so far. Also, due to storyline differences, Braun isn’t injured in mine. Part of me thinks he’s injured because he’s taking his vacation time. Should I write him out for that time, or keep him in? Any and all feedback super appreciated. Thank you, and enjoy!
Part 1: Welcome to the Team
Part 28: Not a Total Loss
Tumblr media
Starrcade – November 24, 2018 – Cincinnati, OH
The big eight-women tag match started the Raw matches for Starrcade. Ruby Riott sneered at the other team from between Tamina and Mickie James. On the other side, Nia Jax, Rhonda Rousey, and Ember Moon glared back. The last two members of the teams, Sasha Banks and Bayley, kept a level gaze with each other. Something Natalya noticed from her seat on commentary.
“That Sasha-Bayley glare is going to lead to something either disastrous or something great!”
Nia and Tamina started off. Their moves made the ring shiver, and their teammate’s legs to wobble on the apron. Ruby tagged herself in and did a decent job keeping Nia off her feet. Rhonda tagged herself in, sending Ruby running back toward the ropes so the ref had to make her back off. Thwarted, she turned to Ruby’s corner and knocked everybody off the apron. Sasha was gone before she got there, running along the apron and dropping to the floor with Ruby’s neck in her hands, making it bounce between the ropes.
“Told you!” Natalya shouted, slightly disappointed that the rest of Sasha’s team didn’t notice.
Bayley ran around and checked to make sure nobody did, taking out Mickie on the way by and starting a series of conflicts on the floor. The rotation continued inside the ring, keeping the ref’s head on a swivel. Ember tagged in from Bayley, and caught Mickie in Total Eclipse, ending the match. Sasha shot one more look at Bayley, who nodded back.
***
Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas bounced around in the ring, hyping up the crowd until Titus and Apollo Crews came in. When their match began, it was pretty even. Titus and Bo started it off with a quick series of hits and moves. Curtis had a hard time keeping up with Apollo’s acrobatics, but he took him to the mat for an almost pin with his strength.
In the corner, Titus disappeared from sight, which was incredible considering his height. When Apollo and a camera were able to circle around the ring post, they found his tag partner on the ground with Braun Strowman sitting on his chest and raining blow after blow into his chest. The ref called for the disqualification, making Titus and Apollo the number one contenders for the Raw tag titles.
“How are they supposed to fight their best after such a beat down?” Michael Cole wondered.
Corey Graves sighed. “I think that was the point, Cole.”
***
The dark arena was illuminated by several beams of light onto a single spot. “Hello, I am Elias.” He strummed, playing out a cheerful ditty. He paused and looked around. “You know, I should have lowered my expectations for Cincinnati. Even still, they would never have been low enough for this crummy town. I mean, what do you expect from the birthplace of a guy like Dean Ambrose?” He chuckled and went to play again, but Baron’s music interrupted.
“We don’t have time for this, Elias. Not that anyone actually wanted to hear you play.” Baron strutted down the ramp.
“Nobody really wants to see you wrestle either, but here we are,” Elias shot back. He grinned wide and ‘welcomed’ Baron into the ring. His momentary tag partner growled on his way through the ropes.
Seth and Dean entered next, the white and gold belt on the shoulder furthest from Dean. He tapped it, looking pointedly at the two men in the ring. Dean tightened his wrist tape.
They all fought hard, each barely giving the other an inch. Dean almost had Baron in a Dirty Deeds, but Elias swooped in and helped spin him out of it. Seth rushed in with a quick tag, only to catch a jumping knee from the Drifter, dropping to the canvas like a stone. The referee was able to usher their opponents out of the ring while Dean rolled Seth back to the corner so he could claim the tag. He had to fight both of them while Seth recovered. Just in time, they traded spots so Seth could Curb Stomp Baron.
Individually, the losers made their way back up the ramp while Dean and Seth mocked them from the ropes.

“The following match is for the Universal Championship!”
Finn held up his title, standing still even though the referee held an arm up to keep him from moving forward. Drew McIntyre was still too. Jojo left the ring quickly, rushing to her seat safe and far away from the ring long before the bell rang. It was for the best because it was still ringing when they engaged.
From every hit and bounce of Finn across the ring, it looked like Drew was going to take the night and the title. He was quicker than Finn. Three steps ahead. Studied in Finn’s patterns. Every which way that Finn turned, Drew was there with a strong fist or a Scottish boot that never quite made a full impact.
Renee pressed her headphones tighter onto her ears, listening intently to the ring mics. “Can… can you guys hear that?” The announce table got quiet. “Is… is Finn-“
“It sounds like he’s growling.” Corey gulped.
Drew tossed the champion across the ring again towards the ropes. Instead of bouncing off of them like usual, Finn caught the top ropes and froze. His back muscles rippled like he was still in a fight, though he wasn’t moving. When he turned, Drew involuntarily took a step back. Balor had the reigns. And he took vengeance on being toyed with by taking his turn to throw Drew around the ring. He finished with a sharp Coup de Grace and a flex that eased away into Finn’s exhausted, but proud, smile.

Monday Night Raw – November 26, 2018
When the show began, you and Stephanie McMahon were standing in the ring. There was a small, tall, round table between you, and the Raw women’s division on either side. With a deep breath to calm your nerves, you ignored Stephanie’s hard ‘impress me’ face and dove right into what you had to say.
“Twenty-eighteen has been a monumental year for the women’s division. Most recently there was the all-women pay-per-view Evolution, which was a fantastic hit. In my short time as general manager, I have been able to see the talent of each and every woman in this ring, and that of the talent on Smackdown, right in front of me. And each week it astounds me. But I can’t help think something has been missing.”
Around the ring, the women nodded in agreement.
“Last week I made the announcement that a new title would come into play for this division. Tag team titles. Tonight, Stephanie McMahon and I have the privilege of reveling those titles to you,” you said, looking around the ring, “and to you, the WWE universe.” The crowd cheered, making you beam as you took the half step to the table. With a nod, you and Stephanie each tugged at one layer of fabric, pulling it back to reveal the new Raw women’s tag team titles.
The gold accents glittered under the lights. Breathtaking. “But I’m not done. Tonight, we will have the first match in a tournament to determine the first tag team champions. And that first match will start-“
“In just a moment, I’m sure.” Ruby Riott stepped out of the line, flanked by Liv and Sarah. “I can’t deny that we have made waves this year, but I have to say we have not made the progress we should have. These titles are coming to the Riott Squad first because no one else in this ring deserves them. We will hold them, defend them, and prove that our Riott against what the women’s division is justified. The women’s division is weak. A bunch of sniveling little girls who whine when they don’t get chances. Who aren’t willing to fight with every ounce of what they have to achieve a goal. Or if they do, it isn’t enough.”
Stephanie shot you a look. Control this. You nodded back. “That is a fantastic plan. And you will have your chance.” The Riott Squad sneered in delight. “But not tonight.” Their faces dropped. “Perhaps another week. In the meantime, would you please get out of the ring?”
***
In one corner, Ember and Dana Brook whispered to each other, planning how they were going to win the match. On the other side, Nia and Tamina shared a look. They may have been on opposite sides at Starrcade, but why divide the two most powerful women on the roster? They proved that power by tossing each woman from one side of the ring to the other. Ember and Dana each had a good moment, taking the taller women out at the knees and then following up with another hit that made it possible to try for a pin. It was few and far between, but they were good attempts. Attempts that were like irritating bee stings to Nia and Tamina.
They took their vengeance by thwarting both Ember and Dana’s finishers and rerouting the energy into their own devastating moves. Tamina pinned Dana while Nia had Ember by the hair on the outside. The steel stairs fell apart as Nia send Ember through them. She grabbed a mic while Tamina rolled Dana out of the ring.
“This. This is what the women’s division is. It’s power. It’s a fight. We,” she motioned between them, “are the women’s division. Those tag titles are going to be ours, make no mistake. But my ambition doesn’t stop there. Natalya, get out here. I know you want to finish what Ember started, but I’ve taken care of her. You know what I want.”
Natalya came out to the stage, her title over her shoulder and an over-bright smile on her face. “Yes, sweetie? I think I do know what you want. You want this.” She tapped the belt. After a moment’s thought, she nodded. “And you know what, I want to see you try. Next week. I’ll see you there, and I’ll see you fail.” She dropped the mic and held the title high, walking backward until she was backstage.
***
Back in your office, Stephanie was proudly looking at the women’s tag titles sitting on their pedestal. “I have to admit, despite the fiasco at Survivor Series, I’m looking forward to your future time as general manager here. These are a great idea.”
“Thank you, ma’am.”
“Ah-“
“Stephanie.”
She smiled. “I may have been… irritated with you last week, but there’s still no need to be so formal. Keep up the good work.” She didn’t wait for a reply before leaving. You had about two seconds to breathe, then Dolph Ziggler invaded the space.
“You need to have a serious talk with your monster,” he spat.
Oh dear. “What are you talking about?”
He grit his teeth, glaring at Braun as he came into your office too. “I circled back to the security at Survivor Series. I know who attacked me. Originally I thought it was Sheamus or his teammate, Cesaro. But that’s not what the camera showed. Instead, it was a great big Strowman fist that bounced off the back of my head. It’s amazing I didn’t end up with a concussion.” He rubbed the back of his head for emphasis. “He needs to be controlled-“
“I asked him to do it.”
Dolph and Braun froze. You stood, calm and collected, and met Dolph’s eye. He blinked in surprise. “You… you what? Why?”
“I asked Braun to keep you from the match for two reasons. One. It was a match that didn’t need to happen in the first place, but you went ahead with it despite my direct order not to. I can’t have that kind of insubordination on my roster.”
Dolph sputtered and growled. Braun moved to step between you, but you raised your hand.
“Two. It was an excuse for the trainers to finally check you out. They had noticed that you had been favoring your knee in matches, and then came to me when you kept ‘missing’ your appointments.” Now Dolph looked sheepish, but you ignored that and continued. “No matter. Everything worked out. I won my own battle. You got the rest you so desperately needed. And, you have been cleared to compete again. Congratulations.”
He was at a loss for words. You could almost physically see the wheels turning in his head as he turned on his heel and left your office.
Braun waited until he was gone before gently tapping your shoulder. “This isn’t going to become a habit, right?”
You shook your head. “As long as people don’t keep secrets from me, I won’t keep anyone from them.” He didn’t seem to believe you, so you pressed. “What are you worried about? If I ever need to ‘take you out,’ I’d have to call over to Smackdown for Big Show. And that probably wouldn’t even work. All former matches considered. But we’ve been working well together. So, I don’t see any foreseeable problems. Do you?”
“No,” he rumbled.
“Good.” You gave him a curt nod. “Now, good luck with your match tonight.” It took no small amount of focus to keep your tone and expression calm while Braun thought over the underhanded threat. When he left, you finally let out the breath you’d been holding.
***
Titus and Apollo didn’t hold up much better against Dr. M and Braun than they did on Saturday. This time, Dr. M was in the ring the most, trying out new tricks and laughing as the old ones continued to be useful. He was fully engaged in the match and enjoying himself. On the other hand, Braun seemed distant. Going through the motions was still more than Titus World Wide could handle, but it nearly caught him in a pin more than once. It was beginning to grate on Dr. M that Braun kept tagging himself out.
“Braun!” Dr. M called. “Focus on the healing at hand.” He held out his palm, calling him in to engage. On the canvas, Apollo was crawling back to his corner, where Titus was struggling to climb back onto the apron. The doctor crowed with triumph as Braun accepted the tag. He continued to grin with pride as Braun finished the match. They were champions for another week. Dr. M turned from the carnage in the ring. Now, he could focus on the original plan.
***
The pen in your hand clicked shut just as Dean walked in. You smiled brightly, letting it dim only a little when he didn’t smile back. “I can see already that you don’t approve.”
“You’re a smart woman, Y/N. I figured you knew on Saturday or before that I wouldn’t approve. Look, Dolph isn’t my favorite person, but calling a hit on him? That’s… that’s not what I was expecting from you.”
Another techie handed you a clipboard to sign. “It’s not what a lot of people expected of me. I didn’t expect it of me. But as Survivor Series came rolling up, I saw how much it mean to Stephanie and to you guys, then Dolph made that match… I couldn’t let it happen. There was already too much hanging in the balance. My control over my personal life was something I needed to handle myself.”
Dean fiddled with the hem of his sweatshirt sleeves. “You’re headed down a dangerous road.”
“No, I’m not. I know what I’m doing. I’ve established that I’m willing to do anything for Monday Night Raw, and I’m going to hang onto that power.” With a sigh, you waved another clipboard away. “But I didn’t call you in here to get scolded. You’ve got a match tonight. But… what kind of a match do you need? Easy? Ambrose versus the world? Or-”
“Give me the worst odds, or at least some bad ones,” he said, giving you the slightest grin.
“I figured. Then, head to the ring. And have fun.”
He was almost gone when he turned back. “We’re not through with this discussion, young lady.”
You giggled. “Yes, sir, Deano, sir!”  As he left, you had to agree; this was far from over.
***
The match you made for Dean was a three-on-one handicap match.
Jinder Mahal had Sunil start the match, and then when Dean tired him out, sent in Samir. Only after they were both too exhausted and at risk of not being able to kick out, then and only then did Jinder tag in. By then, Dean was starting to move a little slower. Something the Maharaja had been counting on. He successfully sling-shot Dean around the ring into the ropes and turnbuckles.
But pride is not power.
The crowd’s cheers helped Dean get to his feet, despite being in a chokehold in the center of the ring. Jinder looked to his corner as he began bouncing back and forth on the ropes, powering up to something. The Singh brothers were still splayed out on the ringside floor. By the time Jinder turned around, Dean was there with a kick to the stomach and a satisfying Dirty Deeds.
When it came to Dean, the odds rarely ever mattered.
***
Seth strolled through the hallways around Gorilla, smiling when he found who he was looking for. “Hey, I’ve got a proposition for you.”
Barely looking up from his phone, Finn chuckled. “Oh. And what would that be?”
“A match tonight. But, with a little extra.” He smirked when Finn put his phone away, obviously interested. “You pick a teammate, and I’ll pick someone. That way it’ll be a different match that Clash of Champions. Deal?”
“Deal.”
“Deal. Then… I’ll meet you in the ring. If you can find anyone so late notice.”
Finn rolled his eyes. “I could say the same to you.” He watched him leave, then went in a different direction to finds someone to tag with.
***
Both men found teammates that they knew would the other pause. Mojo Rawley entered with Seth, and Elias entered with Finn. The demon king and the drifter sang for a little bit, even though one was royally off-key. The discordance continued into the match. Each time Finn was in the ring, and Mojo wanted to tag out, Seth refused to tag in. The way around with Elias. For the majority of the match, the last-minute additions were the ones doing all the work. And they noticed. And they didn’t like it.
Seth tried to tag out as Finn was forced into the ring. Instead of accepting the tag or dropping to the floor, Mojo sucker-punched his partner. “Pin him,” he shouted at Finn. The Irishman shook his head, backing away into his corner. Soon he was face-down on the canvas too. Across the ring, Mojo and Elias shared a look. They eased their way through the ropes, eyeing one another with distrust as they crossed to beat up the other’s teammate. Both went for a pin. Seth and Finn kicked out, sharing a look as they huffed and puffed.
The match was done. Everybody knew it. So, Elias and Mojo left the ring. Before they could make it far, Seth and Finn took turns sailing over the ropes and landing on them. Two, three times Mojo and Elias were able to stagger to their feet. Three times, the champions sent them back to the floor. When they didn’t rise a fourth time, Seth and Finn accepted their titles from the ref. They leaned against the ropes and laughed, knocking their titles together in a toast.
