Brazilian tennis sensation at the beginning of the year, Thiago Wild announced on Tuesday night (24) that he contracted the new coronavirus. The 20-year-old said he felt good and asked for attention to the disease through a message on social networks.

“And then guys, I'm passing by to let you know that I just contracted the covid-19. My result came out today (Tuesday). About ten days ago I had some symptoms, I had a fever, I got a little cold. But in a little while, due to the disease incubation period, it will be over… I will be fine ”, he declared.

Wild, who faced no complications from the disease, said he was close to fully recovering. “I've been feeling good for the past few days, but I'm passing by here to warn everyone that they have to stay home, they have to be careful with that. It is a serious disease, but it can be controlled with force by everyone, ”he said.

One of the promises of Brazilian tennis, the tennis player from Paraná surprised last month to become champion of the Santiago Tournament, in Chile. When he won his first ATP title in his career at the age of 19, he became the youngest Brazilian to win a trophy of this level, surpassing Gustavo Kuerten, champion for the first time at the age of 20.

The achievement took him to 114th place in the ATP ranking, now number two in Brazil, behind Thiago Monteiro.

Before Wild, three Brazilian athletes had tested positive for the new virus: pivot Maique, from the Paulistano basketball team, and soccer players Jonathas de Jesus and Dori. Jonathas, ex-Corinthians, lives in Spain, where he defends Elche in the second national division. And Dori, a graduate of Fluminense, plays in Chinese football.
