Miles Morales x Editor!Reader

I originally was writing a fic but it turned out shit, so I turned it into a HC list/fic.. and It also turned out shit 😭 i hope you enjoy it a bit though!

Warnings: mentions of injury and violence / r and miles bickering / r gets caught up in miles' spider-man stuff / r being a littleee bit of a stalker.. / not proofread / probably won’t make sense towards the end because I finsihed this at 3 am / I think that's it

Ok now.. this is a bit complicated since you have a very important job. You're an editor/photographer for the weekly newspaper in NYC. Which means... you have to give the people what they want, and that also means making your best friend sound like a maniac.

Miles knows you're an editor, it's not a secret you keep, or a thing you try to hide. He also knows that you have to take pictures of him.

"Miles, I need photos of you! Well.. not you, you, spider-man you." You said to him one evening when he swung you around New York for a date. (He didn't want to, it was your idea and he knew how excited you got whenever he did this.)

He'd stare at you like you were crazy and you'd talk for a minute about why.

"Well.. as long as you get my good side. Don't make me sound crazy either!"

You two spent the rest of the day after that taking photos and catching up about stuff that happened at school that miles missed.

Some of the photos turned out shit because he kept posing towards the camera when they're supposed to be off guard and while he's swinging or in action.

Though, one thing he told you was not to get involved when he was defending the city, minor or major.

"Alright.. but listen, don't try to put yourself in danger for a couple of photos. If you're anywhere near me when I'm actually in action on patrol, go home. You know I always meet you there, cariño."

He'd be very serious, which is rare between you two. It's always giggles and jokes.

Miles does not want you caught up in his hero life.

The photos you took prove to be good because you're printing them editing them and the papers sell like crazy.

Though, your boss tells you that he wants more. The photos are now boring and don't prove that he is crazy.

your boss is the crazy one.

"Sir.. I don't mean to go against you, but I wouldn't incriminate him. He's a hero to many of us here! Don't you think you're thinking a bit, dare I say, wrongly of him?"

There was a silence before he nodded his head slightly.

"Should I fire you right now?"

Let's just say that you're now on your way to film Miles in action.

Yes! This was incredibly stupid but... it would be awesome to see him yk..

You found him stopping a robbery at a bodega and took some shots of him without him knowing.

You pretty much followed him around as he was on patrol.

How?

A boom sounded across Brooklyn and from where you and Miles were, it was pretty far.

He took off swinging and you stood there for a second thinking how you were supposed to get there in time.

You stole someone's skateboard.

Though, by the time you got there he was already fighting.. a man? A rhino..? What the fuck.

Miles was on it's back getting swung around yelling insults.

"Dude! How'd you get like this? I'm tryna get like you! I'm talking about muscle by the way.. not your face."

You snapped a couple of photos of the scene then, the Rhino guy threw him into a car. Ouch.

You were looking back at your film and realized that some of the photos were blurry and weren't focusing properly on them both.

You got closer

Which was your first mistake.

Your second was not realizing you accidentally turned your flash on when you thought you were adjusting your brightness of the photos.

That Rhino noticed you and so did Miles, whose masked eyes went wide.

And guess who noticed that? That fucking rhino.

He started to walk towards you and when you started backing up he went on all fours after you.

"I promise I'm not as entertaining as the spider! Leave me the fuck alone!" You squealed as you pushed past people and held your camera tight.

"I like when they run."

To not make this too long let’s just say miles successfully left the police a gift (rhino)

You got an ear full after

“What I did i say about that?? It hasn’t even been like.. a full week since we had that conversation!”

“I know, I know! But my boss said I haadddd to! And by the way you looked awesome, look at those photos.”

You two argued for a bit but he has still a bit upset at what you did.

You apologized by cleaning up his injuries and giving him kisses.

You stayed with him that night and he held you extra tight.

This didn’t turn out good at all but I wanted to finish this request because it’s long overdue 🙏

I’ve been postponing this for too long. So take make up for it, here’s two vinyl updates for the price of one! :D

Rina Sawayama’s debut-album ‘SAWAYAMA’ (Gold coloured vinyl)

Kinda stumbled upon this by accident. I remember it was through an Antano Fantanthony video, which is noteable ‘cause I never really watch his videos. Clicking that thumbnail might have been the best decision I’ve made all year. I mean, apart from ordering all these vinyl records (which, in hindsight, might’ve also been a mistake if you ask my bank account lol) Imo this album is definitely up there as one the top 5 best releases of 2020. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed by the colour, as it was more dirt brown than gold. plus the cover photo is a bit blurry. But maybe I’m a bit too much of a perfectionist when it comes to these things lol. Joking aside, I still LOVE the album to bits despite all that, and hey; we all know looks aren’t everything.

Born Ruffians’ album ‘Juice’ (Limited edition Yellow coloured vinyl)

I was so excited when I heard Born Ruffians was releasing a new album. I’ve never been disappointed with anything they’ve released so far, so I felt quite comfortable pre-ordering it when it became available. Funny thing is the album release was right around the time ACNH came out, and one of the band members was randomly streaming the game up to, and a bit after the album release. I really miss those streams. It was such a surreal time because of covid as well, and it honestly feels more like 6 years have past since, rather than 6 months. But I guess a lot of people feel that way. Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is this album takes me back to that chaotic, but somehow much simpler time. Oh, and you all need to listen to Dedication ‘cause it SLAPS.

Poppy’s album ‘I Disagree’ (Gatefold Clear w/ Red splatter coloured 2LP)

Again, I stumbled upon this album randomly, around the same time I believe. I heard of Poppy a long time ago, but I haven’t really checked out her channel in a while. I saw a thumbnail for one of her new music videos in my feed which (for all I knew) looked quite uncharacteristic. And so, I went down the rabbit hole, and it did not disappoint.

I wasn’t sure if it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, or if I would continue to enjoy the album, so I waited a bit before ordering the vinyl. What I had not anticipated was how many different coloured vinyl she released this album on. (I only discovered this after the fact.) I went with the only version I could find on a danish website. Like with SAWAYAMA, I was kind of disappointed with the “Red” splatter, as it looks more like pink nail-polish than blood-splatter (which I assume was the intentended “look” she was going for) But I love everything else about the vinyl - especially the inner sleeve that was included, which I had to hang it on the wall next to my other favourites ^^ (pic below) I can’t say I regret buying it - it’s a great album! But who knows - maybe I’ll trade it for another version at a later time.

Big Gigantic’s album ‘Free Your Mind’ (Gatefold White/Yellow marbled 2LP)

I’ll be the first to admit, this one’s a bit of a wild card. I’m not super familiar with Big Gigantic’s music, so I didn’t have very high expectations for this album. Or any expectations, really. I can’t tell you why I decided to pre-order this, having only listened to the couple of singles that were available. I ususally only do that with artists that I “trust”

And I must say, though I feel kind of indifferent about the sound of the album (I guess it would work well for a house party or smth), I love love LOVE what they did on the inside of the gatefold sleeve. (pic below) I would hang it up like that if I wasn’t so particular about my vinyl collection lmao.

Disclosure’s album ‘ENERGY’ (Limited edition, 180 g Marbled 2LP)

I’m gonna say something (only I find) controversial; out my entire vinyl collection, this might be my favourite one. I know I’ve said before that I love all of them equally, but I think it’s safe to say this one sticks out. I’ll tell you exactly why: First of all; Banger tunes? check! Eco-friendly? check! Beautifully marbled records? check! Signed lithograph and download code printed on 100% recycled paper? check and check!

This album really is something special. You can tell they put a lot of effort and hard work into both the album and the vinyl itself. The inclusion of incredibly talented POC artists is a huge plus as well <3 I have so much more to say, but just I’m gonna end this by saying go LISTEN to it! I can pretty much guarantee you’ll find something on this album you’ll like. Here are my suggestions for where to start:

so i think. and i dont KNOW. that the idea is. on this next wednesday i present my teacher with a final ‘please just fucking say this works i swear to god’ proposal for what i want to do. then the FOLLOWING monday, after my design class (doing god knows what in it), i go to the library at uni and print my final things. at this stage, its two near identical prints of an nb figure hiding in a toilet stall, with the variants being one sheet has a female figure yelling outisde, the other a male figure. on wednesday after that class (doing, again, God Knows Fucking What), I stick the two of them up to the toilet signs just outisde the classroom and take photos of them both with my camera. The next day, before or after my class (considering the likelihood of class ending early, after) i take another set of photos in case something changed (unlikely) and i head off.

if they actually stay up with no changes, i MIGHT also leave them there over that weekend and then duck in on monday to check them. On that same monday (thsta the uhhh 20th) i will be taking the photos to the library and printing them out, and thats what will be submitted on wednesday in class. possibly alongside the signs i had printed, which depending on what happens to them could be interesting. if they remain totally untouched (HIGHLY LIKELY theres no exactly high traffic in hb aside from the cafe staff who are Busy yknow) i might not. i would ask her i guess.

thats the idea. i think that timeline works out. i dont want to have to come in on a day where i dont have uni but i can if i have to, like if i wanna print stuff on the weekend or whatever. the final photo print would be ideal to happen monday because doing it before class wednesday is too much fear for me to handle (in case like, the bus is late, or the tram breaks, or im just late for some reason, i wouldnt have time) and tuesday is my late day and i dont have time to do it after class. between the lecture and class can fit but i like having the Vast Expanse of time to deal with it, especially if i leave the signs over that weekend and something actually happens that necessitates me taking a photo, which means i need time to take the photos and then edit them w/ levels and shit in photoshop on a uni comp (which means finding an available uni comp near the printers lol). i need time, is the point. i think that all Basically tracks. it does mean i need to make sure i bring solid paper on that FIRST monday... and i guess photo paper for the second one? i have 180gsm (?) paper in a3 which is a pain in the ass so like i might pick up a few sheets of smth in a4, given the size of the sign (gotta measure that this wednesday, for Scale). theres an officeworks on burwood i can use for that.
