Okay I haven’t logged into this account to post/read drama for ages but the silhouette scroll drama has made me rise from my grave again. I check out maybe a dozen pages among the hundreds that the announcement thread has and I’m completely fucking taken aback at the responses, like what the fuck is this

Among sooo many others. The one question I have for that is: what?

The “flight rising said trans rights” thing already confuses the hell out of me but really? Are we really going there right now? Are we really going to bring out problems that don’t exist because hey it’s more fun to complain than look at the bigger picture?

First of all, may I please remind you, this is a game about breeding dragons? Second, in this particular game, making LGBT characters has never been..... a problem? Why are so many people shoving trans rights onto this one item? As if trans rights didn’t exist on the game before? Never mind that you can absolutely dress your dragons up however you want regardless of gender, make whatever lore/identity for them you want, RP with them, show them off, get pride themed colors and skins... when did FR ever NOT say ‘trans rights’ is my goddamn question. They even kicked out that one dude who talked some shit, haven’t seen him since! And there’s a trans NPC which was a huge deal, has everyone forgot about it now?

And yeah you might say they’re ‘monetizing’ LGBT stuff and tryna make money off of it which is... only really true if you want to have a closed mind and specifically think of it only that way, which is really fucking stupid? I doubt the team added this scroll just because some crowd could now make ‘better’ trans dragons, or to say ‘trans rights’, while cackling to themselves and thinking “hehehe all those trans folk are gonna give us their money now”. They added this, also, for people who like one pose over the other. To make breeding projects a bit more bearable for those who are trying to get a specific eye type along with a specific pose maybe, without removing the challenge from breeding and changing the game drastically altogether. But so many people seem to be treating this exclusively as the “make your dragon non-binary FOR A PRICE” scroll which is just so... so... dumb... the game was designed in a ‘gendered’ way, yes, for BREEDING! B R E E D I N G! It’s not an ‘issue’ that needs to be ‘fixed’, IT’S A GAME MECHANIC!

I just. Can’t emphasize it hard enough. You don’t need a fucking scroll to give your dragon OC the identity you want, susan. All you need to do is say that your dragon is the identity you picked for it and there you have it!! I have plenty of dragons like that!!! Saying “as a trans person I think that this shouldn’t be gendered” is dumb. Saying that “we should be able to change the sex” is dumb. Saying that having to pay for it is bad is dumb. People essentially wanna destroy an important game mechanic because ‘it doesn’t represent transness enough’. Which is just... why.

(And also to adress the charity thing, I got nothing against some charity, but the fact that the person suggesting said charity is just one of the many trying to make this scroll out to be the “trans rights” scroll, and how FR is supposedly trying to say “trans rights” with this scroll, and this scroll only. Like please actually look at the game you’re playing and then tell me it doesn’t properly support trans rights while still remaining a good breeding game.)

Just. Please stop looking for LGBT+ issues or validation in the core mechanics of a goddamn pet breeding simulator, in which the breeding really has barely anything to do with LGBT+ at all. PLease for the good of you and others. It can’t be healthy. This is a game. A game that has always supported LGBT+ stuff. This scroll is not the be-all-and-end-all.

Anyway fuck this got long. I’m just so tired of this constant seeking and pointing out of problems that are really not there. It’s not just on FR, it’s everywhere, and “as a member of the LGBT+ community” I fucking hate it!!!! (sorry for typos and inconsistencies, I went back and edited this post a ton of times so I probably messed up a lot)

TL;DR: No, FR is not trying to cash in on trans people. No, the silhouette scroll is not exclusively or even primarily a ‘make your dragon nb’ scroll. No, FR being ‘gendered’ is not an issue that needs to be fixed, it’s a breeding mechanic. No, FR is not withholding/selling trans rights or validation. FR has always allowed you to make LGBT+ dragons, and now that’s with even less limitations. FR staff supports the LGBT+ community and always has
