The nice thing about hemming a plush blanket by hand...
Tumblr media
One can use said blanket on one's lap while actively sewing it.
Tumblr media
I bought a king sized plush blanket off Facebook Marketplace, because it's grey with paisleys, and mom likes grey and paisley, and this will coordinate with what mom wants for the redo of the living room.
I cut the blanket in half width-wise, so now I have two throws! Which I have to hem! By hand!
Ain't so bad, I enjoy hand sewing.

Just got some falling-apart boots from a thrift store and realized there were a couple rips inside the shoes. Any tips? Asking cause you're kinda The Upcycle Blog
Depends on the boots! I've found footwear can be tough to repair sometimes because
a. They're usually tougher materials
b. They deal with a lot of movement and friction
c. It can be hard to physically get at the problem to fix it
So repair kind of depends on the rips and the shoe itself. I've had shoes with minor rips that I just kind of ignore because I can't get a needle in to close them. That being said, there are some options. If they're small rips, you might be good closing it with a strong thread or even super glue. Depending on the material, you might need a thick needle for sewing. Larger rips can be patched with a comfortable fabric, but depending on location and shoe material, it might be good to choose something with stretch, warmth, or waterproofing to match the rest of the boot.
I'd also recommend checking out @wastelesscrafts I think they have some shoe-related posts!

AAAAA EMBROIDERERERY! I am also just starting and it is ugly as sin and the wastelesscrafts blog (no relation to me) has great tips for all sorts of mendinnnng. I want to see pictures of your efforts and good luck!
oh I will probably post some pictures once I get started!! I haven't bought materials yet though lol who knows when I'll have time for it. Good luck on your own embroidery endeavours!!
And thanks for the suggestion! Definitely going to be looking more into less wasteful habits. I’ve actually recently discovered second hand shopping and managed to simultaneously buy a lot of new clothes AND save money by doing that and then using my sewing machine on them to fit me better. I wish I had learned this sooner. I also found a pair of amazing-looking dress shoes for 30 kr (around 3 euro), they look like completely new shoes now that i’ve used some shoe shine on them, they probably cost like 70 euro as new, or more.
