TW: mentions of child abuse and medical procedure
*
Billy really wants to skip school today. Well, he kind of always does, but usually the idea of seeing Steve Harrington gives him enough incentive to get out of bed even if the prospect of sitting trough a whole day of classes is less than satisfactory. That day, though, even Steve Harrington is not enough.
Billy pissed off his father last night, and he took a mean kick to the ribs for it. As a result, his left side hurts like a bitch, he didn’t sleep well, and he’s so exhausted that when he finally gets up, he sees black spots dancing in front of his eyes and he nearly falls to the floor, his legs as consistent as jelly.
He’ll never survive the morning periods, let alone basketball practice this afternoon. Billy sighs. This day is going to suck. There’s no doubt about that. He’s got to make his peace with the fact and power through, because he cannot skip, no matter how hard he wants to. His father is particularly intransigent these days, and Billy doesn’t need to give him any more reason to be angry.
So, he takes a quick shower, he skips breakfast, and before he realizes it, he’s sitting at his usual back row desk in his English lit class, feeling miserable as hell and trying to hide it.
“Who pissed in your cereals this morning, Hargrove?”
Okay, so the “hiding” part of it isn’t a success, apparently.
“Fuck off, Harrington, I’m a real ray of sunshine.” Billy says.
Steve and he have been friendly since Billy apologized for bashing his face in. Now is not the time to needle Billy, though, and Harrington would better be aware of that, lest it get messy again.
“Oh sure! Just a very grumpy looking one. You shouldn’t scowl that hard, you’re gonna get wrinkles.”
It only makes Billy scowl harder. Steve smiles his brightest smile at him, for whatever strange reason, and it makes Billy relax slightly.
Thankfully, the teacher arrives before Steve has time to ask anything else.
Billy avoids the cafeteria at lunch. He’s got no food, nor does he have money to buy some. He knows Steve would get him something without him even needing to ask for it, but he’s not hungry anyway, so it would be rather pointless.
When Billy enters the changing room, Steve is already there, and of course he mentions it. He’s a mother hen like that.
“I didn’t see you at lunch. Did you manage to eat something? I have granola bars if you want.”
“I did eat.” Billy lies, “but thanks for the offer, Pretty boy.”
“No problem.” Steve smiles brightly again.
Billy is lightheaded already from exhaustion and lack of food, Steve doesn’t need to add to it. How rude.
“Are you sure you’re okay, though? You look a little pale.”
He rolls his eyes.
“Yes, mom, I’m fine.”
Look, another lie! Way to go, Billy.
“Fuck off. You’re a disaster, someone has to look after your ass.”
Billy flips him the bird half-heartedly before putting his shorts on.
During practice, he insists on playing shirts, for once, so the bruise on the left side of his abdomen doesn’t raise any question. He shouldn’t have bothered, though. Barely three minutes later, he’s entirely out of fuel already and must take a break. He then makes the mistake of getting back into the match, only to be hit in the stomach with the ball and nearly faint.
“Hargrove, you’re out of it, what’s wrong with you?”
Billy assures he’s fine, but he’s slurring his words, so obviously the coach doesn’t believe him.
“Go sit down, go to the nurse, whatever, just stop playing. I don’t want you fainting on the court.”
Billy grumbles, but he obeys nonetheless. He doesn’t have enough energy to put up a fight right now.
He goes to the showers, and it’s all peachy until he slips on the wet tile and bumps his head on the wall. He regains consciousness to Steve leaning over him, looking freaked.
“What are you doing here?” Billy mumbles.
“I wanted to check if you were okay. Seems like it was good instinct on my part.” Steve says.
“Come on, let’s get you off the floor.”
It’s a strenuous process, and Billy can’t hold a groan in as pain flares up his side, but Steve does manage to get him back to his feet. He only then notices he’s naked, which is very embarrassing.
“What’s that?” Steve asks, pointing the nasty bruise on Billy’s torso.
“Nothing.”
“Uh, don’t bullshit me, Hargrove.”
“Calm your tits, princess, I am fine.”
Steve scoffs.
“Oh yeah, sure, you just fainted in the showers and you’ve looked half-dead all day. You’re the perfect picture of ‘fine’.”
Billy goes back to scowling, because the truth is not pleasant to hear, and Steve is serving it to him and forcing him to stop ignoring it. Again, rude.
“I’m just tired.”
“Maybe, but I don’t think that’s it.”
“Oh, you’re an expert on health matters now, Harrington?”
Steve huffs.
“No, you smart ass, but we have a perfectly competent school nurse, you could go to her, you know. Just to make sure.”
“Pass.”
“No.”
Billy glares at him.
“What do you mean, no?”
“No, I won’t let you decide. Your decision making is shit. I’m deciding right now, and I say you’re going to the nurse.”
The nerves of that guy.
“Don’t tell me what to do!” Billy’s going for angry, but his voice is so weak he just sounds petulant.
“Okay then! I’m telling you what I am going to do. I am going to take you to the nurse to get checked out even if I have to drag you there!”
Steve, unlike Billy, has no trouble sounding furious. His eyes are glaring daggers at Billy, his hands are clenched into fists, and his chest is heaving with how worked up he is. Billy would probably get a hard-on if he weren’t so tired. It’s a good thing he doesn’t, because he’s still very much naked.
“Stop treating me like one of your kids! I can take care of myself.” Billy says through gritted teeth.
He doesn’t want to admit defeat, even if he recognizes he’s in the wrong. His pride can’t take it.
“You obviously can’t!” Steve yells.
There are a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, and then Steve’s anger seems to deflate. He sighs.
“Look, I’m really worried. Would you please, please, just go to the nurse with me? I’ll owe you one.”
And isn’t it just like Steve, to make it seem like Billy’s doing him a favor by taking care of himself? Great, now Billy feels bad. He could deal with angry Steve, but he’s no match against pleading Steve with his puppy eyes.
“Okay, fine… Just let me get dressed and we’ll go.”
It takes Billy forever to put on his jeans and T-shirt. He slips on his sneakers and is planning on leaving the laces undone, but Steve won’t have it and bends down to tie them for him. Steve is on his knees in front of Billy… and here he thought Steve was trying to help him, not kill him.
It turns out Steve was right to pester Billy about consulting a health professional, because he ends up in the hospital to get surgery for a ruptured spleen. It’s going to cost a small fortune, and Neil’s not going to be happy, but it’s his fault so he’s not allowed to bitch about it.
Steve is there for him until he gets taken to the operating room. And, God knows how long after the surgery, Billy wakes up to Steve holding his hand.
When he realizes Billy is awake, Steve tries to take his hand away, but Billy holds it in place.
“Are you okay?” He asks, after clearing his throat.
“Sure.” Billy croaks. “I’m sure it’s a pretty standard operation, Pretty boy. It wasn’t that big a deal.”
“Shut up. You scared the hell out of me.”
“I’m sorry…” he mutters.
“Don’t apologize… even if you were being particularly stubborn, it’s not like it’s your fault you ruptured your spleen.” Steve says, running his thumb on the back to Billy’s hand.
“About that…” he goes on, “I overheard the nurses talking… and uh… they mentioned domestic violence.”
“What about it?” Billy asks defensively, tensing up.
“Well… feel free to tell me to fuck off, but…”
Billy scoffs. As if he needed Steve’s permission to tell him to fuck off.
“Is it true?” Steve finishes, his whole expression radiating concern.
“What do you think? That I got into a fight in some bar on a Monday night?”
And really, Billy doesn’t mean to be that prickly. It’s just a subconscious and desperate attempt at preventing the walls he built around himself from crumbling down.
However, the sad look Steve gives him is enough to make his attempt fail tremendously and annihilate the said walls until Billy is laid bare, defenseless.
“Is there anything I can do?”
“Just… stay with me, please?” Billy hasn’t sounded that vulnerable since he last was on the phone with his mother, begging her to come back for him.
“Of course.” Steve squeezes his hand. “I meant, what more can I do?”
“Nothing. You being there is enough.”
Steve doesn’t look convinced, but he thankfully doesn’t argue.
“Oh wait, there might be something.”
“What?” Steve looks ready to burn Hawkins to ashes and throw down the entire government if Billy asks him to.
Billy won’t ask that of him, though. He’d never do anything to taint Steve.
“Could you get me some water.”
Steve rolls his eyes.
“Sure. I was thinking of something a bit more substantial, though.”
“Oh, look at you, using big words!” Billy mocks.
“You just woke up from surgery, how are you already so annoying?”
“That’s one of my many talents.”
“I hate you sometimes.” Steve says in a deadpan voice.
“No, you don’t.”
Steve answers Billy’s teasing grin with a pout.
“No, I don’t.”
Billy cackles in triumph.
“What about that water, Pretty boy?” he then adds.
It’s not even to be a pain in the ass. He really is thirsty.
“Shit, sorry!” Steve replies, letting go of Billy’s hand to go fetch him something to drink.
Billy watches him with a fond smile as he exits the room. His life still sucks, but it sucks a bit less now that Steve is in it.

Heating Up Part 2
Apparently I always need to write more parts or something... Anyways, hope you enjoy!
Read part 1
Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost x Meta Reader
Summary: Due to Catlin’s ‘unstable’ powers, she leaves Team Flash to go her own way. You respect that but hope to see her again, which will of course happen. Eventually leading to an ‘interesting’ encounter with Killer Frost.
Word Count: 2,180
Jumping through a strange looking portal together with Caitlin and Cisco, you harmlessly land in the cortex at STAR Labs again. Still needing to get used to this type of travelling as your face clearly depicts, displaying an extremely disoriented expression. But nobody has noticed it, because they all immediately rush towards Caitlin. Glad that their Caitlin has safely returned. That’s why you decide to search for a chair to sit on and relax. Besides, you don’t want and also don’t feel the need to interfere in their happy ‘family’ encounter. Exhaling deeply, you completely relax in the seat you found in front of a couple of computer screens. Closing your eyes to rest up for a bit.
After some minutes have passed you perceive a sudden mood change, hearing the tone in Cisco’s voice become bitter. Attentively opening your eyes and turning your head in their direction, you see them arguing with each other. Apparently a discussion ignited? Cisco is using an excessive amount of arm gestures, swinging them around, nearly hitting Iris. And Barry is just standing there, completely frozen, probably thinking of a proper response to give. Then you faintly hear your name calling.
What are they talking about? About me? You start to listen to their conversation, because, well- you are a little curious. It appears that Caitlin feels the need to leave, go her own way as the ‘old’ Caitlin Snow is no more. She needs to discover her powers, and thereby her alter-ego Killer Frost, on her own. Away from her friends.
The other members of Team Flash obviously disagree, so you clearly noticed. They don’t get why she wants to leave. Because finally they’ve found somebody who can help her control her powers, namely you. All eyes are now fixed on you while you sit there awkwardly in a not-so-charming pose.
I don’t want to get mixed up in this. Caitlin can make her own decisions, right?
You simply stand up and decide to go since this is not your problem to fix. Do they want you to take sides or something? You quickly walk away, leaving them as they stare at you in total confusion. Exiting with the announcement: “If you guys need me, I’ll be at Jitters!”. Not even being able to hear if they’ve responded to your abrupt departure.
By the time you enter the brightly illuminated place, you instantly smell the magical aroma of coffee. It’s amazing, right? Craving some well-deserved caffeine after the adventure in the dark, misty woods, you order your favorite hot drink. Placing yourself on the comfortable couch, you immediately take a gentle sip from the coffee mug. Benefits of your power: managing the perfect consuming temperature of a beverage. Very important of course.
Suddenly Caitlin enters through the glass doors, wandering inside, explicitly searching for someone.
“Hi, is it okay if I sit here?”, she carefully asks. “Sure”, you answer, not expecting this visit. Sensing your heart rate rising, you get a little nervous. “Everything okay with your friends?”, you continue, curious about the outcome of their disagreement.
“Don’t worry about that”, she returns, deflecting the question. “I actually came here to thank you. For your help. For saving me.”
“Oh- Eh.. N-no problem”, you stammer, slightly startled by her gratefulness as your heart skips a beat. “If you by the way ever need my help again, I’ll be there”. Hoping she’ll take you up on the offer. You most certainly do not want this moment to be your last with her, even though you just met her.
“Thanks”, she responds while she timidly tilts her head towards the floor, noticing a slight blush on her cheeks. “But I decided to leave Central City for a while. Go my own way. Try to figure out my powers, by myself. So, you won’t be bothered by me anymore”, she declares, probably still feeling extremely guilty about the events that happened when she was her alter-ego. But you don’t care what she did or didn’t do, because it wasn’t her fault, right?
“No, it really is no trouble! I am always happy to help”, you reply, clearly showing your instinct to assist and serve people in need. Especially to someone like the woman in front of you.
“But I do respect your choice. It’s been a pleasure meeting you Caitlin Snow”, you reveal with a smile while you stand up. Eyes locked with her beautiful brown ones. You feel lost again. A warmth rippling through you as soon as your hands touch. “It was also nice meeting you, (Y/N) (Y/L/N)”, she friendly responds, smiling warmly. She softly lets go of your hand and you watch her walk away, exiting Jitters. You’re overtaken by intense happiness, hoping you will meet her again, preferably someday soon.
///
From that day on you’ve helped the team, assisted them on missions if The Flash is in need of your services. You’re still a firefighter though, and in your free time you mostly hang out at STAR Labs with the new friends you made. Just like on this random, ordinary day.
“I'm back!”, you call out, carrying everyone's favorite order from Jitters. You abruptly stop, doing whatever it takes to not drop the different types of coffee as you stare at her.
“Caitlin?”
“Hi (Y/N)”. Listening to her beautiful voice, calling your name gently, you’re just gaping at her a little too long while being totally speechless.
“Everything okay (Y/N)?”, Iris questions now that they all gaze at you in confusion, not knowing what the hell you’re doing.
“Yeah… eh s-sorry. So, you’re back”, you stutter a bit, asking Caitlin this fundamental question. The first thing you notice is that she’s wearing a badass leather jacket. It suits her. It suits her perfectly.
“Well… not exactly. I mean, I came here because I need a little help from you guys”, she responds, causing that grin on your face to quickly disappear.
“Ow… okay”, carefully setting the hot drinks down on the desk in front of you. Honestly... you were kind of hoping for a different answer.
Caitlin continues to discuss the pressing matter with Cisco and Barry as Iris marches up to you. Pulling you away to create just enough distance so that the others cannot hear her announce the following: “You could just ask her out, to grab a drink with you. You know, like normal people do…”. She lifts an eyebrow, seeing right through you.
“Yeah... I could”, you respond, gaze now fixed on the bleak floor. “But, um, I actually have to be somewhere else right now. So... I'll ask her later. Maybe.”
“Gotta go!”, you state whilst advancing your pace, swiftly exiting the cortex. You can still catch a glimpse of Iris who's dramatically rolling her eyes and sighs. Honestly, Iris is right. Behaving like this is not gonna get you anywhere with Caitlin. There is no denying in that and you know it.
///
Driving in your car, listening to your favorite music while trying to clear your mind a little because you can't stop thinking about what Iris said.
I mean of course I can ask her on a date… But what if she doesn't like me? Or what if I ruin everything? Or what if she blows me off right away? Or-
Your rambling thoughts are interrupted by the sound of your phone. Probably got a text message. But you'll check it later when you’re not driving anymore.
Parking the car at the usual spot, you walk towards the fire station. It seems quiet. Meaning you can easily go inside, undetected. While walking you grab the phone out of your pocket to read the message you received earlier. Seeing it's from Cisco you quickly open it.
Helping Caitlin atm. Not at STAR labs in case you were wondering
Great… You're truly disappointed that they went without you. But okay- maybe you shouldn’t have left then. Or they weren’t in need of your assistance after all even if you had stayed. It sucks either way.
With a grumpy face you wander inside the station and encounter a colleague of yours. Because obviously the place wasn't entirely abandoned.
“Wait- I thought you had the day off?”, she asks. She looks at you confused, frown appearing on her face.
“Um…”, you pause since you can’t think of an excuse. You could tell the truth, but you do not want to because you're kind of embarrassed. Dashing towards the lockers you respond with something like: “I forgot, eh, some important things, so, um- yeah.”
Not doing much, just relaxing and hanging out at the station, contemplating life and stuff, you receive a text from Iris and calmly read it. You instantly snap out of the relaxed state due to the words that appeared on the screen. All the muscles in your body activate. You don't hesitate and quickly get up, jumping out of the chair. Sprinting full speed towards your car while swiftly searching for the car keys, heading out in an enormous rush. Practically feeling like you’re just as fast as The Flash is right now.
///
Arriving in some dark, shady alley. Barely any light shining through due to the tall, grim buildings surrounding it. Nice place… is this seriously the correct location? Iris had reached out to you with an emergency text, declaring Team Flash is in deep, deep trouble. But she only gave you that, and of course the address, as information. So you have absolutely no freaking idea what you’ll run into. And with no cell reception you can’t call her back. Well prepared...
Jolting your head towards an echoing, loud noise coming from inside one of the old buildings. That sounded like a nasty fight had come to a devastating end... You’ve spotted the damaged, rusty door and quickly enter. As you walk inside, heartbeat pounding and hands becoming sweaty, you feel daunted and stop.
“How bad will it be? If The Flash and Vibe can’t even handle it? Am I able to handle it? I guess I have to...
Accelerating your pace while inspecting the depressing environment now flying by you. It’s dimly lit in the small passage you’d entered. A rather disturbing smell hits you. Definitely the moldy scent from the humid walls surrounding you, therefore covering your nose with your right forearm. It has become awfully quiet here. Not catching a glimpse of Barry or Cisco around, you begin to doubt again if this is the correct place.
What kind of help did Caitlin even need?! you ask yourself in frustration. You can’t seem to apprehend what sort of mess she has gotten herself into. Suddenly a figure appears in the light at the end of the hallway where you’re running towards.
Thank god, it’s Caitlin. But wait- is it? Is it her…? You recognize her black leather jacket you admired earlier today. However... Snow white hair. Silver eyes. No- it’s Killer Frost. Guess this is the reason your urgent presence was required.  Apparently Caitlin still can’t control her powers.
“So. You came back for another round? Heat things up again?“, she sneers at you, also perceiving a minor fraction of anger laced in her voice. Yeah... probably some hard feelings about the confrontation you had with her in the misty woods a while ago.
“Just came here to help”, you calmly answer -or try to- because you sensed the trembling in your voice since you’re maybe a little frightened.
“I don’t need your help. I don’t need any help at all. This is all Caity’s fault”, she continues agitated, averting her gaze from you. Taking advantage of that as you covertly shift towards her. Slowly closing the distance without being too obvious. Because if you want to change her back into Caitlin, you at least have to be near her.
You stop as she suddenly turns to you, her eyes focused on your form. “You know, Caity actually wanted to ask you”. “Wanted to ask me what?”, you respond ignorant, slightly relaxing your state around what appears to be a cooled-off Killer Frost.
She spotted you had moved closer and teases: “Oh, and don’t turn me back into Caitlin, hot stuff. Not yet”. A bit dazzled by the flirty nickname she just gave you, almost forgetting your true purpose here. Hold up- did she just send you a brief, desiring wink...?
Still several meters away from her, you’re able to see her features more clearly. Now face to face with Killer Frost. Staring into her chilly, glimmering eyes as you start to heat up -uh... because of your powers.
Out of nowhere, without any reason at all, she aimed both her arms in your direction in an instant. A shockwave of cold air is thrown your way, generated by her deadly powers. You freeze. Well- not literally. At least… not yet. Will you be able to evade the rapidly progressing cold fog in time? You already brace yourself for the cruel impact of the sharp, ice-cold blast that will most definitely strike you in mere seconds...

Fantastic Beasts meets Star Wars
I was watching the Fantastic Beasts movies and one thing I love about those films is their use of the main character (the protagonist and Hero) being a bit different than the regular hero, and showing traits of someone with autism (he won't look other characters in the eye for long, his very specific interests of caring for animals to which he has developed specialized expertise, and his comments about how people “often don’t like him”). I, myself, love seeing heroes who aren’t your cookie cutter male alpha, punching people while making sassy remarks. I think Ben Solo/Kylo Ren kinda fits this mold too, as did Luke Skywalker. They just aren’t your usual alpha dog, they have emotions, they are real people.
Yet, there seem to be some other trends where the writing of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and the Fantastic Beasts series are concerned.
Black and White Thinking
One is the theme of black and white thinking as being portrayed as evil. Maybe this is even more pressing today. Of course, this is coming about out of Hollywood, as Americans are experiencing more and more the pain and dangers of bipartisanship within their government. Yet on the world stage, however (as I am not American) the insidious effects of how we consume media through computer and search engine algorithms (which gather information particular to our interests and worldviews) means we rarely leave our own information bubbles or read news with which we may disagree with. This is separating us further from others more and more, forming divides and even black and white thinking (us versus them) when we are unable to tolerate or understand other people’s opinions.
In the movies, these topics are being stressed with good versus bad, us versus them and with fascist, totalitarian thinking at play. Even visually this is being represented. For instance, the main villain of Fantastic Beasts, Grindelwald, is repeatedly wearing black and white. Conversely, however, the hero Newt Scamander is shown wearing colours, blue and yellow. And this is not the first movie to make colour an important feature in expression ideas about characters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is showing Grindelwalds polarized, thinking of purebloods against those who are not is black and white (read: wrong). Indeed, in the films expresses this as flawed further when it has the main protagonist, Newt, express distaste at how American wizards cut interaction with muggles out entirely and see them as lesser beings, probably commenting on racism in America and its enduring systemic ills.
Of course, we all know that black and white is traditionally part of the Star Wars good versus bad, but even this is changing, with Rey moving into greyer garbs from her earlier whiter clothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forbidden Attachments
Also, much like Jedi were forbidden from attachments, Muggle’s can’t be with magic folk in America (its illegal even). Much like dark force users were taught to fear the dark and stay away from light jedi. There is no middle ground, just bad and good, no learning from each other or expanding, just lines which cannot be crossed. So of course, where you have a plot like this which the writers think are constrictive or wrong, you have your main characters crossing this line (in the case of Fantastic Beasts, to show its wrong and backward, and in the case of Star Wars to show its worth expanding outward and understanding the other side, forgiving and letting those who have fallen back into the fold to repent and redeem and that even they can be good nd have souls worth loving).
In Fantastic Beasts, one of the main love stories is one between Queenie and Joseph, a witch and a muggle. Like Rey and Kylo Ren, a lightsider and darksider union (we think..but c’mon its pretty obvious they are romantic!). So both movie trilogies have 2 protagonists who are braving this divide, but finding it casts them out, or jeopardizes their union. Rey and Kylo cannot bridge there divide (nor should they with how dark kylo is right now), and in Fantastic Beasts, (***SPOILER***) the American witch Queenie, in the end of the Crimes of Grindelwald has even joined the evil cause of Grindelwald because she (misguidedly) believes they can help her relationship with the Muggle Joseph come to be allowed.
The Evils of Repression
So above we have two themes, black and white, polarized thinking as being shown as wrong, and main characters attempting to breach these divides between two worlds/belief structures through love.
But there is one more similarity. In the Fantastic Beasts 1st movie, there is a dark phenomenon known as an Obscurial. According to Wiki fandom, an obscurial is a young wizard or witch who developed a dark parasitical magical force, known as an obscurus, as a result of their magic being suppressed (often through abuse or fear of showing their powers). According to Dumbledore, an Obscurial can possibly be healed by replacing their feelings of alienation with a sense of belonging.
Repression has long been seen of as something akin to evil in western film and storytelling (often you see priests in TV and movies going through this, self-flagellating, or whipping themselves for their nasty sinful thoughts – and these characters tend to be evil, think of Paul Bettany’s character in Dan Browns Da Vinci Code, or the evil guy Frollo in Hunchback of Notre Dame).
Something Star Wars has been dealing with since the advent of the prequel trilogy is this idea of repression leading to evil. One of Anakin’s, and I argue Ben’s, troubles was with the repression of their dark natures, or even repression of just their good emotions such as love for Padme or Shmi, causing them to become unbalanced and leading them to evil. I get it, if someone told me I couldn’t love I would grow angry too, and I am pissed with the Jedi – it seems Luke was too.
The idea that balance is necessary in the Star Wars community is pretty self-evident though, so I wont take too much time explaining this. Ben and Anakin are emotional guys, constantly told to keep it all in, only let the light out, repress your feelings and any darkness that may be felt because that’s “bad” (Yoda’s advice to Anakin when he was fearing for Padme’s death to “rejoice for her” for becoming one with the force sucked, and we are meant to be frustrated by it, because I can't believe George Lucas would expect us to agree with Yoda and believe it was OK for Padme to die and that Anakin should just move on). Indeed, to repress and deny the good and bad inside us is damaging and something we should all avoid – this is the Jungian notion of accepting and resolving yourself with your shadow self, instead of ignoring it until it explodes, much as the Obscurials do when they cant hold it in any longer and they die at a young age.
As a side note, I was really happy to see Credence didn’t actually die at the end of the first Fantastic Beasts film, because he was obviously an abused and unloved child looking for his parents (sound familiar? Rey?). Although sadly, I’m not sure he will survive the series of films now that he has joined Grindelwald, or that the writers care enough to give this character anything more than redemption equals death scenario and not bother to give him a happy ending or find belonging and peace.
Conclusion and how these movies should wrap up
Anyways, I guess I just thought it interesting that both films were dealing with similar themes, probably because they are issues we are dealing with in society, but they are issues society deals with all the time in one way or another at all times but perhaps we feel they are more pressing today?
The importance of these themes to these movies, however, means they should be in some way resolved at the end of each series because they aren’t going to reinforce these notions by punishing the characters who act out of the bounds of societies black and white framework.
With Star Wars, I think there will be a better way to look at how Jedi will go about their business in dealing with the dark side (i.e. with more understanding of what it is instead of fear and rejection), and how individual Jedi will deal with the darkness inside themselves in thier own personal journies to avoid the worst. This will hopefully include some resolution on how future Jedi will deal with attachment - rather than just repressing everything and forgetting about it. I dont think this is something that is valued today in the west, because no one wants to abandon those things about human life that make it most worth living.
On that note, I also expect the two pairs of lovers of both Star Wars and Fantastic Beasts to be reunited, in order to visually and narratively show a change and love for the other side and repair the longtime split between the groups. Its more than just a sappy ending, it’s a metaphor for how we should think about the “Other” that we are told to fear or belittle by a society that has gone too far in its black and white thinking. So, Queenie should marry Joseph even though Muggles are thought beneath wizards, and Kylo and Rey should both come towards the centre and be together and find their belonging they so desire, thereby resolving their loneliness. (However, this is a whole other question of Kylo’s redemption, etc.). But the notion that Jedis shouldn’t marry be damned! And this is the PERFECT way to show that stupid rule was dumb and resolve the very thing Anakin struggled with in some way. And, for that matter, the notion that forgiveness shouldn’t be given to those who have erred or fallen by the wayside be damned!
No, in the end, the lesson is that black and white thinking sucks, and love and forgiveness is what matters for those who find it in their hearts, to love, and not fear the other side is what our heroes are showing us, with a multitude of colour to express the variety of people, and emotions, that life can give us.

which she freakin’ did. I loved that scene! I thought it was gonna be forgotten how horrible of a teacher she was to her student who was obviously already struggling with life. ✎ It was so meta too! Kim Shin saw Kim Shin from Joseon period see his future through that lady serving him and his friend drink(?) It was so funny when he tried to explain what a smartphone is gonna look like. And! And! He saw Eun Tak in that period so I am definitely waiting for more of that.

❣ The death card I’m glad Shin is more honest with Eun Tak, because that’s one of the key for them to break the deity’s will and to write their own fate, they must be honest with each other and trust each other more. I’m glad they’re relationship is becoming more and more stronger.

I feel bad for Eun Tak gosh, she’s at that point of questioning the deity again, why he so cruel to her? When Eun cried on Shin’s shoulders? God her face killed me my poor Eun Tak.

I just want her to finally enjoy the harvest of her life, for God’s sake let her! ❣ Sunny and Kim Shin’s interaction. I was glad they got to talk. We got more of the history of Wang Yeo and Sun, It was a tragic love really, they loved each other, the king loved her Queen. He wasn’t being a d*ck when he flipped that tray of medicine, he doesn’t want Sun poisoned, I just wished he explained to her! He was too blinded by jealousy and arrogance plus the whispering of that son of gun right hand of his, which brings me to this next thing.

✎ Samshin haelmoni proving again how she works in mysterious ways, It was revealed she was Gr’s Junior’s landlady, and now turns out, she’s Sunny’s too? (Still don’t think she’s the baddy here in this drama though)
❣ 184 cm tall, 2 cm heels I found it so clever yet so sad how Sunny found out GR’s real identity, the shock expression she had, her eyes swelling with tears, the confusion, the sadness on GR’s face.

I want them to have a happy ending instead of a tragic one they had in their past lives. They didn’t deserve it.
❣ The king’s adviser Freakin hell he’s back! Or should I say, he’s here? It did seem he waited all this time, he didn’t cross to the other side but stayed and waited to meet the Goblin’s bride? for 900 hundred years? or was he brought back?

❣ AND YOU! I’M LOOKING AT YOU DEOKHWA!
Tumblr media
Goodness gracious i have this nasty feeling, he’s just too freaking mysterious it makes you wonder! I just freakin know, I am like 80% sure now he’s not a normal human/person something was off with him in this episode and in the preview. How in hell did he know Sunny was Kim Shin’s sister in her past life? And that preview , was I correct with my past theory with  Deokhwa? That the reasons why he didn’t tell ET about the meaning of the message on KS’s journal is because she might not pull the sword?  Or maybe he didn’t think he she was ready to know? WTF is happening?  I NEED ANSWERS! Because this I don’t want to believe, many theories had said that Deokhwa might be an angel, a guardian angel and that’s the theory I wanna go with ;-; because he’s too precious man!
Again, this has been a roller coaster ride for my feeling. I cannot believe we’re at the Episode 12 tomorrow guys, only 4 episodes to go, they better give us 3 hours per episode because- UGH I cannot. It’s gonna be hard reviewing the future episodes cause I just want to savor the moments you know. I really wish this drama a happy ending, again like I’ve said before, I’m not that type who’s always after a Happy, perfect ending, cause sometimes.. love is tragic, but can you blame me for hoping for this drama?
