I just read my Pokedex entry on Houndoom, and it said that if you get burned by it's flames the pain will never go away. Is there reason for this?
I believe it's because of the chemicals in Hundoom's body that allow them to breathe fire.
These chemicals usually won't cause too much harm as they are very volatile, but their concentration could vary a lot depending on the Houndoom.
Also, the concentration is higher when the Houndoom is angry or when is hunting their prey as this helps finish it off.
The chemical per se isn't deadly, but it can cause some issues on the burned part: the pain won't go away simply because the skin that has grown over the burned part will have very sensitive nerve endings causing the person to feel pain at any minor thing bumping or scraping against the "healed" part.
