okay but like- can we take a second for maddox’s comment about val and ej? because that was so crucial for me this episode truly for her character.
like- she talks about how they have this amazing longstanding bond from when they did the sound of music together when they were little and they’re like permanently attached because of it... and like- to me? the way she’s so in awe of it and so happy when she talks about it to gina?
it’s very much maddox wishes she could have that with someone coded.
and i think with her whole little talking head about being lonely- this just adds a lot to it and i think that’s great.

every fandom has the gay person’s straight ship. aka the straight ship that is so legitimately good and valid that people don’t ship it just because it’s straight and in the show.
for cobra kai it’s robby/tory (and damanda for the parent crowd)
for stranger things it’s lumax (and, in some cases, chrissy/eddie. i said what i said)

i’ve been meaning to say this for a minute but like i think people in the st fandom should--what’s the word--acknowledge fanon content more, and like allow people to ship what they want (to an extent, guys) etc.
maybe it’s because i’ve been in a lot of fandoms where we relied on fanon content to carry the fandom (which is why i left sanders sides lol) but i think that stranger things is so rooted to it’s theories and whatever current ship is being portrayed, that people feel the need to shut others down in their fanon content.
for example, is steddie going to happen? most likely not, they’re going down the (imho basic) route of stancy. does that mean that no one should ship steddie or make content of them, and that the ship is inherently bad, because it’s not in the show? absolutely not.
concepts of things (especially ships) is what encourages creativity and content. i actually think the concept of mileven is pretty cool (but the way they show it in the show makes me not want to root for them). basically, just because a ship isn’t canon, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t like them or make content about it. that’s literally what fandom is for.

for all of the ej slander we have endured this season, i am willing to accept an apology in one of four ways:
1.) ej gets an emotional scene in which he breaks down and has a heartfelt song dedicated to him, like all of the other struggling characters have gotten thus far (some have gotten multiple songs).
2.) ej gets a hot villain bop in which he corrupts the entire show as a last screw you all to the cast who has been nothing but inconsiderate of him
3.) ej gets a heartfelt ballad in which we can all begin to sympathize for him until it takes a sickening turn into a hot villain bop
4.) ej gets with ricky

can we just take a moment... to acknowledge the fact that somehow carlos believes changing what’s written on the sheet of paper that val wrote the cast list on... is going to change the casting decisions val made?
like SIR- she will definitely remember who she chose for what role, that may not have even been her finalized list given she said she wanted to take the night to think about it, and also- she’s going to know someone vandalized it... and if she finds out it was you... you’re definitely going to be even worse off than you were before you tried to change it.

that said- any guesses what exactly he was trying to alter? he looked pretty mad about it... i’ve seen some people say he wanted a smaller part than he got and some saying he wanted a bigger part than he got... i’ve seen some people say maybe he’s trying to prevent drama with the group... i think it’s more likely him trying to up his own role than about anyone else, because why would carlos care that much about other people’s drama? but we shall see...

i just wanted to say quickly that there’s def a reason they keep bringing lily up. they should’ve sent her to camp for the sake of ricky’s arc, but that may have easily been a scheduling issue as well.
they broke up like- 4 days ago... ricky’s story arc involves him PRETENDING to be happy and ignoring all his deeper stuff that’s going on. a bandaid over a tank of gas. i’m not saying this in the sense of him having these intensely deep feelings for lily (though it’s clear he must’ve genuinely had something real with her to a certain extent given context of time and the situation we have them in in 301. argue with the wall.)
i’m just saying- whenever he’s forced to reckon with things and the other shoe does drop... she’s a part of what he’s going to have to reckon with. they could’ve just fully dropped the subject after ricky came the camp, or at least after carlos mentions her in 302. it would’ve been easy to do so. but she came up TWICE in the last episode. that’s continuity, sure, but if they really just wanted to ignore that it happened after the first time, they could’ve. they’ve done that sort of thing before.

okay but like i’ll get to my ask box later (bc i do plan to empty it again before the episode drops tomorrow night), but-
we’re getting three songs tomorrow!!! (or four, depending on if they release jet’s audition separately since according to adrian’s interview he had to sing acapella for the whole cast the first day he met them… so his audition will be separate from the rest in the episode)
we’re getting:
gina’s lyrical dance solo (which is about balance… we’ll see what that entails)
the frozen audition medley (for the first time in forever / do you wanna build a snowman)
and nini’s solo (which should tie into her personal discoveries and her family, etc.) this one i’m pretty excited for since it’s like- nini’s big sendoff song. her last solo !!! kinda bizarre to think about… but exciting too.

I think Carlos got cast as Sven and didn’t like it so he changed it to Olaf and that’s how EJ ends ups as Sven. Idk he was erasing way down the casting list so it’s a chance bellow that
this is fairly decently possible imo- the only thing that wouldn’t make sense about that is why would val just- go with it….
she definitely remembers who she put in which role like- carlos i love you i promise but there’s literally no reason for her to let an unknown person vandalizing her piece of paper change the actual casting that she wanted to spend a lot of time and actual thought on 😭
