psst hey hi hello two things: 1, I LOVE Cellia sm and 2, how do you think she would react to meeting/interacting with Fyora the Faerie Queen?
hi!! thank you!!! i was so happy when i got this ask <3<3<3 i immediately started working on some Things for her...
i imagine she would not like her very much >w>
with the help of my now-girlfriend @pewycert, who is a walking neopets encyclopedia and history book (TNT should hire her as loremaster and that is NOT a joke i am NOT exaggerating i genuinely firmly believe she should be the loremaster. TNT if you see this pls dm her) - she basically handed me Cellia's backstory on a silver platter so i'm not responsible for thinking of this but;
basically, in "the old world" (as i like to imagine Fyora would refer to it) when Tyrannia was actively being encased in ice, Cellia was one of the first to receive that punishment due to her...... unconventional appetite.
Tumblr media
She was the last to be freed from her permaice caverns - where, fun fact, she was dreamily aware of the ages passing by, and could see the Negg faerie from where she was frozen, hence the random crush I gave her on Kari.
But, Cellia never forgot Fyora's betrayal...
Tumblr media
(click/tap for quality) - also, in drawing this i realized that Man my faerie girl is Wayyy too detailed to match the neopets style. so i beefed up Fyora's design to match hers, and i wanna make a downgraded / source-accurate version of Cellia to match owo
i cant guarantee that Fyora wouldn't try to imprison her again instantly 😂 she seems like the type to automatically revoke hope for this faerie. but she's right, though. Cellia does not understand why her way of eating is so repulsive, and it's not like she hates neopets - FARRR from it! she just thinks theyre suuuper tasty is all 😅 but, suffice to say, she's so simple-minded that she is Not the type to be 'rehabilitated' (as Fyora puts it in reference to Xandra...)
this piece more shows how Cellia feels about Fyora than anything that would actually happen lol - in reality I think she would be terrified of her and do anything - ANYTHING - to hide from her. besides, i wanted to draw Cellia properly gremlinning out 😂😂
so yes! thank you for asking!!! im absolutely delirious with joy and pride and Autism for someone being interested in my OCs unprompted ;;u;; you are like the unicorn of the artist world and i just gotta say thats so brave and badass of you and i hope you find a $50 bill on the ground (or whatever that equivalent is in wherever you live) and best of all, you get to keep it <3

Right, let's take it from the top.
Neopets was under the JumpStart brand for, let's say, the better part of the last decade? JumpStart itself is owned by Netdragon. I- Okay, let's skip the corporate summaries. JumpStart, who owned Neopets, went under just last month, not even three weeks ago. So, Neopets was sorta left... Adrift? Publically, at least. Right before JumpStart's plunge, the management, Dominic Law (who apparently had a Shoyru himself back in the day!) bought out the Neopets brand, and now Neopets is an independent company, World of Neopia, Inc..
That's the short of it.
With a management buyout comes a direct injection of funding that Neopets wasn't getting under JumpStart's management, so now the much larger TNT is going to try and revitalize Neopets.com!!! They want to move the older Flash games onto Ruffle, before converting as many games as they can to HTML5! They want to make Neopets mobile-friendly (I hope this mean Lutaris can visit their island again...)! They want to REINTRODUCE NEOHOMES (I have SO MUCH bottled sand!)!!! They want to introduce... A new plot????? After all this time????
Neopets Metaverse is... Going to remain up, but it's not going to be developed for, it seems??? Apparently they're just going to scavenge it for parts???
Tumblr media
World of Neopets is going to be the game they're bringing those part to, and it's apparently going to be more along the lines of KeyQuest and Habitarium. It'll be a social life simulator where you live as a Neopet and travel through Neopia, it seems. I'm not expecting full third-person Tron things, but I do want to see how they do. Also:
Tumblr media
NEOPETS CRYPTO IS DEAD!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Woah!
Also, apparently there's going to be a virtual concert? As long as Yes Boy Ice Cream shows up, I'm happy.

Here's to Y25!!
2023 has been an intense year of extremes.
I lost one friend but reconciled with another. I struggled to break an eating disorder and burned out hard, but also got to work for Neopets in an official capacity!
But by far one of the most important things that happened this year was being able to reconnect with my sibling, to be present for their very special birthday, and to be given the chance to repair our bond.
Neopets used to be our happy place, and while Naomi exists there more in spirit these days, the memories of us growing up in the world of Neopia, with our posse of pets, the love and care we felt for them, and the stories and art we made together are memories I will cherish forever.
While it was bittersweet delving into old photos of us as kids, throwing the gang together at the end was very nostalgic and felt like a fitting end to the year.
This comic was important for me to cap things off. It felt like a culmination of everything that's come before, and a hope for what's just around the corner ...
🎆🎇Happy New Year, everyone! <3🎇🎆

as everyone often does, i'm sure you're all wondering what could possibly be going on in neopets right now. please allow me to explain, as someone who is not involved in it at all and has just been watching it take place.
so. late september. an event is about to start: a charity donation event in which users can donate items for points, which can then be exchanged for prizes. alongside this event is another: a Faerie Festival, where you can take on daily quests to bring faeries specific items they ask for. people begin hoarding a variety of junk items in preparation for these events.
and then the events get delayed. some faerie festival coding works for some people, when it is revealed that the odds for getting quests from the Fountain Faerie (debatably the best one to get a quest from, as her reward is to let you color your neopet however you want) is much higher. people also begin panic-buying in the days leading up to the event.
october 2nd: the events begin. for the faerie fest, people start selling quest items that would ordinarily be worth a couple thousand neopoints for upwards of a million. but some people are getting faerie fountain dips, and spirits are as high as the prices.
the points earned by donations for the charity event are based on a stat called Rarity, which each item has. the higher the rarity, the more points you'll get. items with a rarity of 200 will net you the most points, ie, only a handful of items that are available from one specific shop. (rarity technically goes higher than 200, but those items can only be purchased with irl money, so the neopets team quickly realized that was a bad idea and cut it off at 200).
october 3rd. neopets announces that you can only donate 10 items per day. people begin freaking out, trying desperately to get the max amount of points possible for the least amount of money possible. everybody runs to the shop with the highest rarity items and buys out the most inexpensive item for sale:
Tumblr media
this guy.
formerly sold for around 50k, squeezy tombola guy toy started selling in shops for something like 600k or more. not only that, but bot accounts have also snatched up squeezy tombola guy toys and are price gouging for insane amounts of neopoints.
october 4th. neopets staff realizes that something has gone terribly wrong. they rework the rarity point values, revealing that only items with a rarity of UNDER 200 are allowed. squeezy tombola guy toy, with a rarity of something like 201, is now disqualified.
the market crashes. there are people who bought DOZENS of squeezy tombola guy toys so they could make a killing on price gouging that are just.... stuck with dozens of squeezy tombola guy toys. meanwhile, other scalpers are buying up all the faerie quest items and price gouging THOSE for FAR more than even the most ambitious person was listing squeezy tombola guy toys for, preying on users' hopes and dreams of their ideal neopet.
let's all give it up for squeezy tombola guy toy. keeping scalpers, bots, and capitalists everywhere in neopia humble.

I've fallen back hard into Neopets, and i really wanted to make a fairiesona~
I has asked my boyfriend which Neopet i would be, but he said i would be a water/moon fairie and not a Neopet. I vibe with it since i do love the fairies, and while my boyfriend was visiting he wanted to hang out and told me to draw comfortably while we vibed.
I had so much fun showing him my work as it went, and i hope we get the chance to cuddle and make art again.
As far as Aurora goes in the context of the world of Neopets, shes technically a water fairie, but she has a strong connection with the magic of the moon, so shes a Moon Fairie. She likes to swim in her lake at night, and spin magic filling the large lake shes in with magic.
Shes not all alone though, shes together with her husband Dacian the Alchemist Fairie who uses his Earth Fairie magic to nurture the land of their shared home, and acquire natural ingredients for his alchemy, and potion making.
They live in a tree house/Atelier, nurtured by Dacian who raised the sapling and made it into a home for him and Aurora to live and work in, next to the Selene Lake. If you can find their secret grove maybe you'll make new friends of them~
One funny thing about Aurora is that she loves to test her husbands potions, so she'll run around disguised as neopets to see the sights even if shes not fully up to date on world news.
I sketched her in pencil, while referencing my fursona. He offered the idea that our fursonas could explore different worlds and this could be another form Aurora can take. I like the idea so much that i decided to make it cannon~
There's versions of Aurora and Dacian in Neopia that are their own characters, but if Aurora and Dacien where to travel to Neopia they would transform to look like their faerie versions.

So I think there might be another layer to why Adam & Donna are so pissed off atm
“our original plan with the company we started after Neopets was to make a new virtual world that had moved with the times. Free to play, web and mobile, with built in chat and a more solid fantasy story behind it. That is what we would have wanted to do had we stayed at Neopets. Whether that would have been spinning off a new property using some of the main characters or something completely different I am not sure.”  - Donna,  May 25, 2014.
[Source: Jellyneo.com’s highlights of Donna’s Reddit AMA] Does that sound a little bit like World of Neopia potentially pitched 18 years ago, or is that me reaching?
To be clear, I am in no way trying to justify their behaviour. I just stumbled upon this comment after realising I’d incorrectly stated that they ‘’sold Neopets’”. Full quote under the cut
“Pittielynn: Hi Donna! Thanks for this!
My question is, what do you think of the way Neopets has changed since you sold it? How different is it from what you thought it might become, or if you hadn't sold it (What might you have done differently)? I suppose that's technically three questions... Hope you don't mind! :)
Donna: No probs, at the moment I am replying on my tablet so excuse me if I type gibberish or post mid answer. Honestly, I don't think that Neopets moved with the times. There haven't been any major changes (aside from messing up the navigation, the neopet style update and the mall). When we created Neopets believe it or not, it was cutting edge.
There are so many technological advances that have come along since 1999 and the site hasnt really embraced any if them.
When we left back in 2005 I gave the GM of Neopets a very long wish list of things that Adam and I had wanted to do, but hadnt managed to get round to and how to implement the changes. I dont think they even read it as none of that stuff materialised.

sorry for the long answer” [Jellyneo] [Reddit AMA] [Jellyneo Webhosting Donate]

An Invite to Castle Thade: A Neopets Mystery
PART I
Average Cybunny Becks is invited by her cousin Roxanne to a remote, seemingly abandoned castle in the middle of the Haunted Woods, where she’s meant to play host for a mysterious event involving an odd assortment of Neopians. But her cousin may have left out a few key details about the events that are about to unfold, and Becks may be in for much more than a simple dinner party...
Tumblr media
Read Part 1/6 under the cut!
Becks stared down at the invitation in her hand, then back up at the crumbling castle. It was not what she’d been expecting. Roxanne had never said anything about a castle in her letters, and Becks had assumed that any references to “parlors”, “foyers”, “conservatories” had all been exaggerations on Roxanne’s part, little flourishes to help immerse Becks in whatever weird little event her cousin was planning.
But clearly, she’d been wrong to assume that her cousin would exaggerate. A chill breeze rattled the skeletal trees around her, their branches clacking against each other like long fingernails, the castle seeming to moan as the wind swept through its hidden corridors. Its long shadow bathed the grounds in darkness, its spires like reaching hands grasping out into the wilderness, hoping to ensnare any unwitting victims that happened by. And here Becks was, voluntarily stepping through the gates.
She shrugged off the shivers that had started to creep up her spine, chasing the goosebumps from her furry flesh. She trusted Roxanne. Her cousin would never put her in danger, so even if this mysterious event was in some old, possible-haunted castle, there was probably nothing to fear.
The Cybunny pushed against the massive doors, the heavy wood scraping across the stone floor of the entryway, announcing her arrival to anyone or anything that lurked in the dark hallways beyond.
It seemed colder inside than out. The air was stale and mildewy, chilling her lungs as she took a deep breath, trying not to panic as she stepped over the threshold. Becks couldn’t see far into the unlit castle– though the watery orange sunset attempted to shine through the stained glass window far above her, there was only so much it could illuminate before being swallowed up by the oppressive dark of the castle’s interior.
Another passing wind sent a moan deep through the belly of the vast stone structure. The red ruff of fur around her neck stood on end as the shivers returned, but she smoothed it back down, not wanting to embarrass herself in front of whatever lurked here. She couldn’t let anything know the place was having its intended effect. She had to put up a brave front. She pulled up the collar of her heavy sweater, as if its warmth could protect her against the eerie feeling that was building in her chest.
“Becks!” Roxanne’s familiar voice echoed out from somewhere beyond the light of the doorway. A single candle flickered to life, illuminating the face of a purple Wocky staring down at Becks from a good twenty feet off the ground. The Cybunny blinked in confusion, heart starting to race as she tried to make sense of the sight. But more flames danced up from hidden candelabras, light quickly spreading out from the Wocky across the entire entrance of the ancient castle.
Roxanne stood on the second floor landing, two long winding staircases on either side, now bright in the candlelight. She smiled down at Becks, who was trying to shake her momentary panic.
“You made it,” the Wocky said as her toothy grin widened. She was dressed in a stylish black tank top with jeans to match, not seeming to care that the modernity of her outfit clashed with her antique surroundings. Becks was glad to see that so little had changed about Roxanne in the time they’d been apart. She was still her cousin, even if she was now for some reason the occupant of a massive castle in the middle of the infamous Haunted Woods.
Roxanne and Becks had grown up just down the street from each other in Neopia Central, inseparable from childhood. That is, until Roxanne left. Becks would have been perfectly happy to continue exactly as they were, seeing each other every day and living simple, boring lives in the same city where they’d grown up. But Roxanne had always been restless, adventurous. Becks was perfectly content to merely read about all the strange worlds and creatures of Neopia, but Roxanne wanted to see them. To be the person who was written about.
When she finally decided to set out from Neopia Central, leaving Becks so she could explore the wide world beyond, she’d at least made sure to stay in constant contact, sending letters at every stop along her journey. Each was lovingly crafted with Roxanne’s particular brand of care, which usually consisted of hidden messages, codes, and puzzles. The longer their letter exchanges went on, the more elaborate the ciphers and clues, making them incomprehensible to anyone who wasn’t either of the cousins. The contents were always worth the effort, though. Roxanne lived a life worth reading about, always in some new and interesting place, in the middle of some new and interesting trouble.
But it seemed Roxanne had finally settled down somewhere. Becks had always hoped Roxanne would be able to tame her adventurous spirit and stay in one place long enough for Becks to finally come visit. Unfortunately, the place she’d decided to settle was the Haunted Woods.
Which was part of why she’d been so unable to resist her cousin’s invitation. Roxanne explained in her coded message that she’d invited an eclectic group of party guests to some sort of scripted event, right in the heart of the Haunted Woods. It sounded like the start of an old movie. And while Becks was nervous about leaving the safety of Neopia Central, the promise of seeing her cousin again after so many years, and in such an interesting setting, was too much to resist. Besides, Roxanne insisted that Becks play the part of host. She wouldn’t want to disappoint Roxanne by being too much of a coward to show up.
“You’re right on time!” Roxanne exclaimed from the top of the stairs. “Glad my map was clear enough. I doubt any of the locals would have wanted to give directions. Not to this place.”
“Wh-why not? Is there something I should know…?” Becks stammered.
“You managed to decode my last letter, right?” Roxanne asked, leaning over the banister.
“Yeah, but there wasnt anything about what this place actually is…” Becks pulled the letter out of the wide collar of her sweater, holding it up to show her cousin. It was slightly crumpled from the journey, but still perfectly legible, at least if you’d memorized Roxanne’s favorite cipher. Otherwise it was all gibberish. Strings of random letters formed into nonsensical sentences. “I feel like I’m missing a page or something, I only have instructions up until dinner.”
“That’s everything you need to know for now,” Roxanne replied, her smile seeming almost devious in the flickering candlelight. “It should be pretty easy to follow along. For now, just play the good host, introduce the guests as they arrive, that sort of thing.”
“But what about you? Aren’t we doing this together?” Becks couldn’t help but feel disappointed. It had been years since they’d seen each other and Roxanne hadn’t even come down to give her a hug yet. So far, this wasn’t the heartfelt reunion she’d been expecting.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be guiding the events of the evening from backstage,” Roxanne explained. She took a step back from the banister, partially disappearing into the dark hallways of the second floor. “You’ve always been much more charming than me, I’m sure you’ll do great!”
And with that, she was gone, enveloped by the inky shadows beyond the candlelight. Becks was alone in the entryway.
“But… I’ve missed you…” she murmured into the empty stone foyer. Roxanne had always been intense, but Becks had been hoping for at least a little cousin bonding to make up for lost time. Instead, she was alone in an almost certainly haunted castle, waiting to wrangle a gaggle of strangers for some event she had no information about. An uneasy churning was building in her gut.
She tried to shake the feeling, taking a look at her now-illuminated surroundings. The castle was decorated just as one would expect– walls hung with ancient ragged tapestries, so bleached by age that whatever stories they were intended to tell had long since faded away. The floors were similarly decorated, vast rugs stretching from the entryway deep into the darkness beyond the flickering candles, clearly once magnificent, now rotten and dissolving at their edges. The hallways were lined with elegant candelabras, untouched by age, their candles fresh and barely used. Undoubtedly replaced recently by Roxanne.
Becks’ long ears twitched involuntarily. There was a sound from the path outside, the telltale crunching of wheels on a gravel path. She stood up straight, wheeling around to face the door, trying to get into character.
-----
A pastel Techo made his way up the short stone staircase to the open doorway. He startled as the coach he’d arrived in pulled away quickly, the coachman snapping his reigns to urge his steeds into a hasty retreat.
“Baldur of Brightvale, I presume?” Becks put on her most hostly voice to greet the Techo, folding her paws in an attempt at elegance. She’d been given a few vague details about each expected guest, just enough to know who they were when they arrived. This Techo was a member of the court in Brightvale castle, and according to everything Becks had read about Brightvale, that probably meant he was fiercely intelligent and cunning.
As he turned towards her, she could see it in his wide yellow eyes, that look of someone who’s always carefully calculating his next move.
“I am he,” he replied, looking her up and down. “Are you the butler or something?”
“No,” she corrected, a little insulted. “I’ll be your host this evening. Please, have a seat while we wait for the other guests to arrive.” She motioned towards a stone bench against the wall, an empty coat rack waiting at its edge.
He glanced in its direction as he took off his heavy cloak, revealing the deep red tunic beneath, its elegant gold embroidery glimmering in the candlelight. He handed her the cloak, which fell into her arms with a heavy thump, dust from his long journey rising up in a small cloud around her face. She coughed.
“There’s a coat rack…” she muttered.
“This place has seen better days,” he sneered as he took in the room, his sharp eyes trailing up the rotting tapestries. “Though I suppose that’s to be expected. Now,” he turned his gaze back to her. “Is a tour in order? Or am I free to make my own way through the castle?”
“We’re not going anywhere until the other guests arrive,” Becks responded, hanging up his coat for him despite her mounting disgust for the Techo and his judgmental gaze. But his eyes weren’t on her anymore, instead flicking back out at the grey trees, blackened in silhouette against the dying sunlight.
“Other guests?” Before Baldur could express his clear frustration, the sound of fluttering wings filled the air, announcing the next arrival.
“That journey was absolutely dreadful, absolutely!” A faerie Bruce flapped into view, flying into the room without setting foot on the dusty floor. “The skies out there are teeming with those nasty little batterflies. They nearly tore a hole straight through my wings. Don’t the citizens of the Haunted Woods have any sort of control over their local wildlife?”
He unspooled a long scarf that had been wound around his almost nonexistent neck, unveiling his beautiful fuschia bow. He straightened it as Becks held out her hands in welcome, preparing to greet him as she had Baldur. Before she could utter a word, he’d plopped his scarf down in her outstretched arms, not so much as making eye contact before turning towards the Techo.
“So good to see another normal face,” the Bruce sighed with cartoonish exasperation. “I made the mistake of stopping in a local town. You wouldn’t believe the sort of ghouls who live here…”
“Believe me, I do,” Baldur responded, his voice eerily matching the Bruce’s as his face settled into a mask-like smile. “You should have seen the coachman who brought me here. Skin like a wet sponge and more eyes than I could count.”
“Ahem,” Becks cleared her throat. The two turned back to face her, the Bruce with a slightly confused look. “You must be Quincy of Faerieland. I’m Becks, I’ll be your host this evening.”
“Oh,” Quincy uttered, a short syllable that somehow carried the full weight of the disappointment that he not only had to acknowledge her existence, but may have made a mistake by not doing so in the first place. “Do you… own this castle, then?”
“No,” Becks replied. She could see the tension leave his tiny shoulders. Clearly, he thought, Becks wasn’t that important. She sighed, carefully holding back an eyeroll. “Like I said. I’m your host.”
“All right then,” he said dismissively, turning back to Baldur.
Becks huffed over to the coat rack, depositing the Bruce’s scarf with as much obvious annoyance as she could muster while the two exchanged pleasantries.
The next guest didn’t arrive for a few long minutes, allowing ample time for the two high-class Neopians to have a back-and-forth about how disgusting they found the locals and how much they reminded them of whatever version of lowly peasants they’d both had the misfortune to encounter in their home provinces.
The next coach that arrived was obviously more expensive than Baldur’s had been, instantly drawing the attention of both Baldur and Quincy. The Maraquan Acara who slid out from the passenger’s seat jingled as she walked up to the doors, elegant jewelry draped everywhere it could fit. She had a wide silver necklace, set with a dazzling blue sapphire which reflected the weak candlelight of the entrance. Two heavy silver earrings pulled at her finlike ears. And on each tentacle, a bracelet to match, dotted with tiny glimmering jewels.
She made her way up the stairs, sashaying as her suckered tentacles gripped the stone steps. Her eyes fell on Baldur, and she flashed him a coy smile as she approached him.
“Are you…” she asked, voice delicate and dripping with feminine guile. “Guarded_Heart849? It’s me. Sirena32.”
Baldur was clearly confused.
“I’m afraid not, miss Sirena,” he responded. “Though I’m sure I’m still pleased to make your acquaintance.” Her demeanor shifted instantly, a slight embarrassed flush rising in her olive-grey cheeks.
“Oh, of course, yes, my apologies,” she stammered, tripping slightly as she slithered into the foyer. She locked eyes with Quincy, instead, expression settling back into the same coy smile. She fluttered her eyelashes. “Then… you must be…”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, madame,” Quincy took a step away from the advancing Acara, holding up his flippers defensively.
“Of course not,” she winked.
“I mean it!” He insisted, crossing his arms with finality. “You must be talking about our host over there. The plain-looking Cybunny.”
“Hey,” Becks couldn’t help but protest. The Acara turned, noticing her for the first time.
“No,” Sirena squinted at her. “I don’t think so. And I’m guessing it’s not the one behind her, either.” Sirena gestured with a silver-clad tentacle towards the darkness behind Becks.
Becks’ heart froze. Behind…? Roxanne’s plan was apparently to stay in the shadows the whole night, a secret host pulling the strings of whatever she had planned. If there was something behind her… it probably wasn’t Roxanne.
She could suddenly hear a crunching from the dark hallway. Her long ear swiveled, focusing on the distinctive sound not a foot away, imagining a million horrors that could be standing in the gloom.
She turned.
There was an Aisha standing beside her. Fully decked-out in a Kreludor space-suit, its two pairs of long ears poking out from the dome of its helmet. One paw was inside the helmet, clutching a half-eaten granola bar, crumbs sticking to the bright green fur around its mouth. It chewed slowly as it looked up to meet Becks’ gaze, its one empty sleeve hanging limply at its side.
Becks quickly took Roxanne’s instructions back out of her sweater. She scanned them again, even though she’d done her best to memorize everything she was supposed to know. It was as she thought. There was no Aisha from Kreludor on the list, or any Aisha at all, for that matter.
“Are you supposed to be here?” She asked the little green alien. It nodded enthusiastically.
Becks stared down at it for another moment as it slowly took another bite of its granola bar. It wasn’t possible Roxanne had forgotten one of the guests, she was too thorough to make that sort of mistake. But it was possible she had some kind of plan that involved a secret guest, one Becks hadn’t known about. She figured it was best not to question the visitor from the stars. She was sure its presence would make sense at some point down the line.
She turned back to the rest of the guests.
Yet another had joined their ranks while she’d been occupied by the Aisha. A Tyrannian Usul was standing in the doorway, club in hand, much to the apparent horror of the other guests. Quincy held his beak, trying to block out the smell emanating from the creature.
“Me Unga,” the Usul grunted. “Me here for battledome challenge.”
“You have the wrong place,” Quincy blurted out, his relief clear.
“If you were looking for the Stone Dome, you’ve taken a wrong turn,” Baldur explained patiently.
“No,” Unga explained. “This right address.”
“She’s correct,” Becks jumped in, trying not to breathe in any of the slowly toxifying air as she spoke. “This is Unga of Tyrannia. She’ll be one of our guests this evening.”
Unga stepped forward, her smell stepping along with her. The crowd shifted away. The Usul approached Becks, who tried her best to stomach the thick Tyrannian funk filling the space between them. Unga dropped her club in Becks’ hands.
“You butler?” Unga asked.
“No,” Becks sighed. “I’m the host. Why does everyone keep handing me their stuff…”
“How many more guests are we expecting?” Quincy huffed. “I traveled quite a ways to be here and would appreciate it if we could move on with the festivities.”
“Just one more,” Becks replied. And, as if on cue, the sound of crunching gravel announced his arrival.
An ice Hissi appeared on the path outside, what was visible of his smooth translucent skin shimmering in the light spilling out from the open doorway. Slightly ahead of him was the hunched figure of a mutant Bori, limping its way towards the castle steps.
“Everyone, this is Jasper of Terror Mountain, our final guest,” Becks explained, trying to sound authoritative and mysterious to recover the hostly air she’d already lost.
“There, you daft fool,” the Bori called out, turning to face the Hissi. “I’ve taken you to the castle. Against all sanity…”
“Thanks,” Jasper replied, unenthused. “You can go now.” He started to slither past the Bori. But a clawed hand shot out, stopping the Hissi before he could start up the staircase.
“If you step into that castle you may never see daylight again,” the Bori warned, his voice grave and serious. But the Hissi flapped his icy wing, batting the Bori’s claw out of his way. He hurried up the steps, joining the other guests in the doorway.
“Ugh, he’s been going on about this for miles,” huffed Jasper. “The locals are such a superstitious bunch. You wouldn’t believe what it took to get a guide to take me up here…”
“I never should have done it,” the Bori called up to him. “I don’t know how I’ll live with myself knowing what fate I’ve brought upon you. The whole lot of you are doomed! You’ve entered the Castle of Eliv Thade, and none of you will make it out alive!”
And with that, the heavy doors slammed shut, sealing Becks and the strange assortment of guests inside.

Greetings, Neopians!
The Neopets Team (TNT) has ground-breaking news to share that’s even more exciting than a Hidden Tower clearance sale! We are delighted to announce a phenomenal change that we are confident will usher in an incredible new era to Neopets. Drum roll please…
TNT is thrilled to be operating under the guidance of a brand new leadership team! With the support of this new leadership, TNT now has access to assets that will empower us to breathe fresh life into Neopia.
For most of the last decade, the The Neopets Team has been under the management of JumpStart Games, which, over time, has struggled to find success for Neopets. Beset by ageing site features, a waning user base, and a lack of resources, TNT had to work tirelessly just to barely keep the site afloat. The resources available to us simply weren’t substantial enough to sustain the level of growth and development that the site needed to keep up with the times, resulting in bugs, unconverted pages, broken games, and a lack of new content. Despite these challenges, TNT pushed onward, guided by an unwavering belief that this iconic brand that has meant so much to so many truly deserved better.
Enter the new leadership team, headed by Dominic Law. A fan himself, Dom spent hours on Neopets.com in the early 2000s earning Neopoints to care for his beloved Shoyru. He became reacquainted with the brand in 2020 after joining Jumpstart’s parent company, Netdragon. Eager to revisit his old digital stomping grounds, Dom put together a team of passionate and like-minded individuals to help NetDragon strategize on the best way forward to revitalise the Neopets brand.
As many of you may have seen, Jumpstart was shut down on June 30th, 2023. Prior to this shutdown, Dom pushed NetDragon to save Neopets. A management buyout deal was struck, allowing the two Neopets teams to combine forces and become an independent company. Free from the corporate baggage that existed in the past, the newly united TNT has now been entrusted with the decision-making and overall brand strategy of Neopets, enabling them to work solely on the betterment of the entire Neopets game and community.
Until this point, Neopets has been running at a loss for over a decade, making it hard to enact any major overhaul; however, in early 2023 Neopets raised $4M in funding from various investors with plans to nurture a shared dream of an immersive, community-driven gaming experience. In tandem with additional funding from the management buyout, TNT has been primed to enact real, actionable change for Neopets. We truly want more for Neopians! This magical community deserves to thrive, not just survive. Thanks to our new leadership direction and the fresh source of funding, it finally can. The Neopets Team is, for the first time in over a decade, equipped to make meaningful changes in pursuit of a Neopian renaissance.
The funding raised from our management team and external investors will allow us to revive the brand as a whole. We’ve already hired a handful of new developers and artists. From fixing the many issues on the classic site to reevaluating the direction of mobile games like Island Builders, these skilled new additions to TNT are already working hard to show Neopia the same devoted care our players have shown to their beloved Neopets over the years.
So, what’s next for Neopets?
The first thing we did was review the most pressing community requests. We have begun exploring the use of Ruffle to resolve the issues caused by the end of Flash in hopes of speeding up the process of bringing functionality back to our beloved games. We’re also working our way through numerous page conversions and bug fixes, tackling the mobile browser compatibility issues, and making improvements to our customer support protocol.
We also took a long, hard look at community feedback on Neopets Metaverse, and it quickly became clear that the game just didn’t line up with everything that made Neopets… well… Neopets! We constantly see references to KeyQuest, NeoQuest, and Habitarium (see, we do read your comments!) and we want to design a game that’s more in line with what the community has been asking for. Taking all of this into account, our new leadership made it their priority to listen to TNT on how to move forward into the future with Neopians in mind, so together we went back to the drawing board.
The Neopets Team rolled up their sleeves and set out to foundationally transform the project into something entirely different by bringing on additional designers, developers, and writers to help craft a game that the Neopian community would embrace. Most recently, the decision was made to transition to a mobile app and rebuild from the ground up as World of Neopets, a social life-simulation game in which you live your ideal Neopian life from the perspective of a Neopet! Decorate your Neohome, explore iconic Neopian lands in 3D, discover secret treasures and knowledge, or play mini-games while you party with your Neofriends — all while you interact and quest with a collection of your favourite Neopian characters!
But these aren’t the only changes we have in store!
Going forward, Neopets will be under the control of a new, unified entity: World of Neopia, Inc. Don’t worry, the Neopets.com that you know and love isn’t going anywhere; in fact, there are great things on the horizon for the classic virtual pet site that started it all. Bringing all of the Neopets products under the direction of one company will allow the different departments of The Neopets Team to communicate more effectively about how to best serve users and realign Neopets with the core values of the Neopets community.
We are thrilled to be working together as one unified team guided by principles of transparent communication and community-centric product development. We want to create games that the Neopets community will love, and that means listening closely to what users have to say. In fact, we already are — we want to bring Neopets back to its glory days as much as all of you, and we’re committed to making it happen.
We have already seen early successes: our customer support ticket backlog has decreased by more than 80% and our work on the roadmap put forward at the end of last year has begun to accelerate. From cleaning up the Neoboards to lowering the Altador Cup threshold by 25%, TNT is committed to continuing a two-sided conversation with the community that addresses user concerns head-on. Moving forward, TNT will begin releasing monthly updates, hosting regularly scheduled AMAs, and launch an exciting new brand ambassador program. This brand ambassador program in particular will help to bridge the gap by enabling key members of the Neopets community to serve as liaisons to TNT, helping make Neopets better for everyone by advocating for the wants and needs of players. To learn more about all of our plans, check out our newly updated roadmap.
Where can you see this roadmap? We are thrilled to announce that, on July 20th, 2023, we are launching our unified Neopets homepage! This central hub for Neopets will serve as a one stop shop for all brand announcements, links to our different games and products, a repository of Neopets articles and related links, and anything else Neopian you can think of!
Fellow Neopians, we are on the precipice of a new era. With the 25th anniversary of Neopets approaching next year, we have snowager-sized plans up our sleeves to celebrate. A relaunch of Island Builders, an exclusive virtual concert, and a brand new plot (yes, you read that correctly) are just a few of the exciting plans we have for the near future! However, we aren’t out of the (haunted) woods just yet. To make all this happen, we need your support — log into the site and play, follow us on socials, download one of our mobile games, and tell your friends to join. Please! We want to bring as much awareness to these fabulous new changes coming to Neopets as possible, so we’re launching a contest to encourage user engagement.
Starting today, new and existing Neopets players can enter our 2,000,000 Neocash giveaway contest. To participate, users can complete tasks like logging into the site, following our socials, and referring friends to Neopets. The more tasks you complete, the more NC you might win! This is one contest you won’t want to miss, and it’s what we hope is just the tip of the iceberg for the many ways we plan to give back to the loyal players who have stuck by Neopets for so long. The contest ends on August 6th, 2023, so act fast!
Well, Neopians, thanks for listening to our (slightly lengthy) tale. We hope that you feel as optimistic as we do, and, as always, we hope to see you in Neopia.
Signed,
The Neopets Team

NEOPET STAR TREK CREW.... I SHOUDLVE THOUGHT OF THIS SOONER
Captain Saryla Marcohn the robot Eyrie
Captain Marcohn and her crew joined the Neopian Federation of Worlds' deep space exploratory and defense service, Starfleet, pretty much by accident. Originally a Sloth robot, Saryla was freed from her evil overlord's control by her now first mate and commander, Barwyn, somewhere deep in the Neopian beta quadrant. With a stolen Sloth ship, the two escaped back to Neopia where Saryla was granted the honorary title of Captain and permission to fly in Starfleet's name. Her ship was modified to meet Starfleet regulations, and christened the NSS (Neopian Star Ship) Happenstance.
First Mate/Commander Barwyn the alien Aisha
Originally one of hundreds of alien Aisha abducted by Dr. Sloth and forced into labor camps deep in uncharted beta quadrant territory, Barwyn acted as a liaison between Sloth and his people in order to get close to him and, hopefully, find a way to free everyone. He got his chance when an important Sloth robot Eyrie came in to his station for repairs.
Chief Engineer Glorbil the 8-bit Grundo
Actually a fully sentient AI Engineering Assistant™, Glorbil is completely capable of self-diagnostic and repair utilizing an advanced system of robotics, hydraulics and magnets. In only rare cases is a Neopian engineer even needed on board at all! Designed this way so Sloth wouldn't have to bother himself with ship repairs, he never expected the technology to get loose, and never to reach Starfleet. Oops!
Navigator Zirax Arnora the starry Ruki
Despite graduating top of her class at Starfleet academy, and setting a new record for the fastest any cadet earned their interstellar pilot's certification, Zirax insisted on joining Captain Marcohn's crew instead of a promising-- safe-- position aboard a research vessel in the alpha quadrant. Young and headstrong, working and living aboard the Happenstance isn't everything she'd hoped for, but it's certainly not boring.
Dr. Pricari the ghost Yurble
Once the first licensed medical practitioner in Neopian space, Dr. Pricari originally died over a hundred years pre-warp era in a tragic shuttle accident. For some reason he returned as a spirit, but got right back to work doing what he did best in life. He doesn't like to talk about it.
Chef Ringo the jelly Zafara
Able to morph and change their shape at will, the NSS Happenstance's chef and resource proprietor Ringo is often roped into using their abilities in dangerous situations. All they want to do is cook and chat with the crew, but they keep getting turned into props and weapons and thrown about like a toy.

your neopets posting has inspired me to get back into it but i haven't played in like. 15 years lmao. do you have any tips on getting back into it and ways to rack up NP (easy games with good payout, tips for completing quests, etc.)? i looked at the subreddit but there's just. so much info it's a bit overwhelming :(
YES thank god a reason to talk about neopets <3 i agree the subreddit can be very confusing! i know things like food club and the stock market can rack up a lot of NP fast but tbh i’ve always found them so complicated (esp food club) and unpredictable and i’m not a fan of risking my money SO i’ve mostly been making money with restocking and dailies.
for dailies i highly recommend using jellyneo because they have them all compiled in one place and if you make an account you can have a customized list. the dailies i do are anchor management, apple bobbing, bank interest, coltzan’s shrine, daily puzzle, deserted tomb, forgotten shore (you need a map for this one but you can find them on the trading post or in stores for like $2k total), fruit machine, grave danger (petpet needed), healing springs, meteor, rich slorg, TDMBGPP, tombola, both kings, and trudy’s surprise. trudy’s surprise is very important to do every day without skipping because over time as your streak gets longer, you can start raking in $19k a day guaranteed and $100k by the end of the month!
game-wise the tragic aspect is that flash wiped out like 80% of the games :( fashion fever is still there and you can send score on it 3 times a day for 300 NP each time, which is pretty good considering all you have to do is drag clothes on the little kougra. other than that i really only play hasee bounce because i find it enjoyable and you can get 500 np pretty easily!
restocking is my main way of making money and it’s really not as confusing as some people make it sound. as a beginner, you probably wanna start at neopian fresh foods in neopia central or kayla’s potion shop in meridell castle. these shops stock very lucrative items for relatively low prices in bulk. in fresh foods esp you can get neggs (worth about 16k and stocking in bulk with about 20-30 at a time, so you don’t even have to be lighting fast) or even purple neggs (worth like $110k). in kayla’s the items i have the most luck with are jar of forest earth, mano root elixir, cooling balm of the warrior, and energising elixirs. i realize this probably sounds hard to remember BUT luckily jellyneo has a shop directory, so you can find specific shops and sort their inventory based on price to see what’s lucrative and what isnt. there’s more info on restocking in some guides like this one!
being part of the discord has been absolutely game changing for me because you can 1. see when shops clear and 2. learn from other people which items are lucrative just by watching them. plus it’s just fun to talk to other people about neo <3 if you wanna neofriend me my username is maggiemay726 (childhood UN everyone look away)! i hope this helps!!

...growing up, I gave one of my neopets the most trans story ever.
I adopted half my neopets when I was seven. They were all boys, mostly by accident. I created two as boys, adopted the other two that happened to be male. It wasn't really a big deal until you could put clothes on them years down the line. lol.
So. Anyway. One of the two adopted boys had a bit of a curious name: Kiria. It didn't strike me as a very "male" name.
Over the years, I eventually concluded that "he" was originally meant to be a "she" and his original creator literally clicked the wrong button. Very tragic for poor Kiria.
I am the kind of person who will never be able to eat most easter candy because I imagine the inner lives and feelings of chocolate easter bunnies and marshmallow peeps. I give emotions to everything. It was only a matter of time before I started imagining how awful it must be for Kiria to be stuck as a boy he was never meant to be. I set about trying to figure out how to rectify the situation. At the time, changing a Neopet's gender was no easy task and I was relatively poor. The best I could do was paint him a color that had inexplicable eyelashes (this being the only gendered trait of most neopets) and hope for the best.
Years later, I did finally manage to find one of the items that let Kiria transition to female. All's well that ends well - she was spoiled absolutely rotten, as were her brothers, and I guess they're probably still out there, somewhere, bopping around Neopia.
Funny thing is, I don't think I fully grokked that trans humans were a thing until a couple of years later.

Hey, another example of me fucking lying. I absolutely played the lottery again. And won again. WTF. I only have the email telling me that I won, but the lottery page hasn’t been updated so I genuinely have no idea if the neopoints were awarded or if I just had the correct numbers and, surprise! Hilarious.
Did get a sweet trophy out of it, and while we’re looking at the trophies...
Tumblr media
Oh, hello Kadoatery. I’m learning the names of the folks who loiter around there throughout the day. I can only imagine if they’re like, ... who the fuck is this chick.
What genuinely confuses me is when the times are updated in the chat board, why the posters feel obligated to change their avatar, signature, etc. for each new post. Is it purely for flex purposes for people like me who are clearly utilizing the board but aren’t known among the users? It’s just odd, because all of the avatars being cycled through are retired or stamps; ones clearly no one is going to have. IDK. Makes me a little hot, but whatever. I cannot dictate how people choose to play this game!
The Library of Neopia
If I’m not loitering at the Kadoatery, I’m hanging out in Moltara, hoping to pick up some rare books for the gallery. While I know there’s only 64 total books from this shop, I only have 10 left to get! I have yet to see the high-dollar ones pop through; I wonder how long it’ll be before I even get a glance at them.
Additionally, I have undoubtedly spent more money buying the books from this shop versus using the SW, but I’m finding that I am enjoying this a lot more. The thrill of the hunt!

Also got a codestone in there when I was smashing refresh with the Kads.

As a kid neopets is my jam too. I'm pleasantly surprised that the site is still up to this day. ☺️
I'm surprised that, despite the rampant inflation going on in Neopia, it still exists as a game. I hear that they've got new management that's helping to reduce the rampant inflation that's happening, along with unretiring some of the stuff so that it can circulate back into the economy. I very much hope Paint Brushes are part of that as well!
I've always wanted a Draik as a kid, as they were the most dragon like out of all the dragon-esque Neopets. I might make one of my Neopets take the Darigan Paint Brush, just to make them more dragon-like. Maybe my baby Xweetok, Xwettokirk...
