BACKGROUND:

his full name is kieran jaxon halliday his mom and dad were two wildlife biologists who met while working in south africa and fell in love while tending to a baby lion cub that had gotten a nasty bite from a snake.

they named the cub jax and that’s where kieran had gotten his middle name

his parents made a decent living with their careers but his dad’s side of the family - the halliday’s, were made of money and gold baby!!

the halliday’s are a pretty prominent family. they own a law firm that’s been running since the 1950′s and is dedicated to famous politicians and celebrities

his grandfather expected kieran’s dad to take over the firm after him so you can imagine the shock when his son had chosen zoology as a major.

kieran was born in south africa - and lived there until he was 13

really loved everything about it especially the wild life, the nature and the freedom. when they would visit the states to see his mom and dad’s family he thought it was too congested and tamed and mundane

his dad picked them up and moved them back to the states when he found out that kieran’s mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer

it was like a domino effect - first the breast cancer where the doctors were hopeful that with enough treatment she’d be in partial remission in no time- that was until it started to spread and within two years the two halliday’s had lost the most important woman in their lives

while it impacted both of them - it seemed that it really hit his father in a different way. he basically turned his back on kieran and turned really cold and decided to take over the law firm and threw himself into work

this changed kieran in the sense that he had to adapt to living in the states seeking out different thrills to make him feel, to make him numb, to make his world exciting again, to forget and to piss off his dad

he instantly became a trouble maker - got kicked out of various private schools, was caught drinking in school, took his dad’s cars out for joy rides, has had various dui’s and has been caught high as balls by the police multiple times but this never breaks out to the public - his dad sweeps in and the charges, the potential scandals, everything all vanish overnight.

yale was his top choice for school and while his family’s name obviously got his foot in the door and he coasted through his classes - his grades were above average and honestly if he truly applied himself he would be deadly

he started an underground fight club at yale during his freshman year which he made quite a profit off of, and also he’s just really into fighting in general so it gave him a place to do it without having to pick fights with random frat boys.

known around yale as the american god for the kind of power he holds, his looks, and the way he carries himself.

his mom was born and raised in monterey before moving to south africa

while they spent a good chunk of time in monterey when they moved back to the states, after his mom died, kieran and his dad moved full time to new york city where his dad took over the halliday law firm.

their monterey home is right by the water with their own private beach area. basically before his dad moved them back, he had his mom's dream home built for her. now, his dad hardly ever comes back but kieran's lowkey a sentimental bastard and splits him time during the summers in monterey and the hamptons

end of sophomore year he messed with the wrong guys and got kicked out, they ended up ratting out his underground fight club lmao and after being threatened a bunch of other students came forward and confirmed it. so that mixed with all the other shit he’s pulled and a couple other lies about him -- he got booted out

his dad is actually so pissed at him and embarrassed bc their name and money couldn’t even stop that shit from being made public ?

like halliday son kicked out of yale for starting underground fight club? an iconic headline but unwanted by his dad 100%

he’s been threatened with his trust fund, he’s been blacklisted from all other ivy leagues

the only reason he got into hollis is because his mom went here and was .. v well loved. catch her picture hanging over in the zoology building

his uncle on his mom’s side is also on the board of admissions so once again, his name got him through the door!

PERSONALITY:

very into anything that’s going to endanger his very existence - picks fights, drinks until he passes out, street races, jumps off cliffs u name it.. kieran has done it. it’s almost a miracle the boy is still alive. just recklessly lives on the edge and will willingly take the fall

( i say this bc he is somehow genuinely invested in so many things at once and his interests are ridiculously varied . he just ! loves things a lot ! for example , he thinks the bachelor is the fakest show on the planet , yet watches it religiously , and he cries shamelessly while watching roman holiday and yells at the tv while watching soccer ! he uses the word Bro as if it could be Any part of speech and also is very proud of how well he can do a dutch braid ! i don’t know how he isn’t constantly exhausted . okay , anywAY )

the backstory that he’d insist is Not Tragic but uh ... kinda is :

homeboy grew up in a fairly normal , middle-class home by the beach , loved musical theater and every sport under the sun , and was a pretty typical kid

and then at age 11 he was diagnosed with a nasty case of leukemia and his parents ( his mom is a psychology professor & his dad is a high school english teacher ) were understandably super freaked out

once his hospital bills started rolling in , his parents had to go grovel at the feet of his very waspy , cashmere-loving grandparents who live in the richass suburb of newport beach ... and whom they were estranged from for good reason , so cal’s leukemia was the catalyst for some additional tension in his family

at least at first , he was pretty lonely and suffered under an intense bout of depression because facing his own mortality before he had graduated middle school was … admittedly the Worst

while he was fighting his disease during his pre-teen/teen years , he got into poetry ( aka sobbed while watching dead poets society & almost got in a fistfight while defending byron … while in a wheelchair )

oh , did i mention that he LOVED 90′s boybands ? because he definitely listened to the classics religiously . like the backstreet boys ? boyzone ? *nysnc ? 98 degrees ? he’d regularly tell his nurses that cancer couldn’t take 90′s music away from him

there was a period of time where his prognosis was veeery poor and the doctors were giving him only a few months to live . as a result , tiny 13 year old cal wrote and published his own obituary . it’s still pretty easy to find with a well-worded google search , but he hates it when people bring it up . he’s truly the king of pretending like his near-death experience wasn’t traumatic as hell

with the like . truly extraordinary support system of his family and a few close friends , he managed to brave the storm and , after three and a half years of being in and out of the hospital and doing all kinds of treatments , he was given a clean bill of health

once he was living as a mostly-normal high school kid , his life goals really formed , which are to 1) love and give back to the people around him as much as humanly possible ( but especially his family because the stress of his health was truly a burden / caused a lot of tension between his parents ) and 2) carpe diem the hell outta everything

from that point on :

everything was fairly normal for him and his family ! once cal got accepted to hollis , his grandparents insisted on covering what his academic and soccer scholarships wouldn’t ( they also bought him a sailboat but that’s beside the point lmaooo )

cal chose to major in sociology and minor in creative writing bc he just ... loves people and interpersonal connections ... wanted to learn more about them and create art about them ! this boy has such a pair of rose-colored glasses and is too soft pls don’t @ him

homie is known to say things like “ i’m gonna send her an edible arrangement . as a thank you for sleeping with me . ” or “ i cherish you , bro . i cherish you so hard . ”

he’s still kinda like a kid because he feels like he missed out on so much of his adolescence and he loves being goofy and having fun ( think like … jake peralta or winston bishop kinda demeanor )

he’s also such a jock tho . like , if prompted , he can talk about messi’s footwork or alex morgan’s speed with such enthusiasm . he loves soccer ! he loves seeing the fruits of his hard work ! and he especially loves being a part of a team !

and , on that note ... caleb is the DEFINITION of a ride or die . he’d fling himself into moving traffic for the people he cares about … and he may care about someone after one ( 1 ) conversation about how cars ( 2006 ) is a masterpiece

this boy hella cares about people . like , maybe too much . he’s not afraid at all to show affection , whether that be through physical touch or through words of affirmation … ( this is stolen from the 5 love languages ! i’m a white suburban Mom on the inside ! ) he will hug you ! he will tell you that you are brighter than the north star !

his father was the famous reginald ‘ reggie ‘ forest , one of the most known and popular basketball players in history .

his father was a single parent , his mom being a one night stand of a widely popular basketball player then leaving the hospital as soon as she could once mason was born .

because his father is so well known , mason was shown in the public eye a lot . his father told everyone that he had no doubt that mason would be just as successful in athletics as he was .

mason grew up being in every small basketball league and game around their hometown , almost every day being at practice to get as good as he possibly could .

BACKGROUND

was born in auckland, new zealand and moved to the states when she was 13. she’s still got hints of a cute lil kiwi accent!!

her dad was originally from miami florida and moved the valentine’s back to take over his dad’s law firm when he decided to retire

mom was born in the phillippines and was all about that pageant life , came really close to making it as the representative for miss universe

moved to new zealand for school and that’s where she met leo’s dad and eventually became an interior designer.

leo is the youngest out of 4. her three brothers happen to be triplets!! they’re 5 years older than her

they desperately wanted a boy.. cried when leo was born and refused to call her eleanora and thus the name LEO was born and it just kinda stuck with her??

though she’s pretty chill with all other nicknames. rarely goes by eleanora bc it just feels too formal for her

she grew up really close to her brothers but always kinda felt like the odd one out and left out. but it’s not like it was their fault, or that she blamed them. they were triplets and boys and 5 years older than her and were just naturally closer to each other.

while her whole family kinda poked fun at football when they first moved to the states, her dad and brothers ended up falling in love w it ! (leo ended up too but mostly so that she could keep up and talk to her brothers and dad about it :/ )

her brothers became .. sort of royalty at their hs and eventually at their college too.

the valentine triple threat is what they called them… acting as quarterback, running back and center. it was like surgery watching the boys play, every move and pass was like second nature they knew how the other moved and could predict what the other would do even if the play went off book.

NFL teams had their eyes on the brothers even before all 3 of them got accepted to texas a&m on a full scholarship and played their first game, time and time again proving they were destined to go to the NFL.

now 2 of them play for the dallas cowboys and 1 plays for the 49ers.

hollis was leo’s dream school and while her parent’s lived comfortably, it definitely wasn’t something they’d be able to afford without a full scholarship and a loan. BUT now that her big brothers are playing in the big leagues ? they’re treating their baby sis to her best life !

PERSONALITY

runs off of coffee and sarcasm

her room is probably filled with books - has an ever-growing pile of books that’s on her to-read list but probably hasn’t touched it in months and keeps going back to old classics

the type who cannot keep still. always needs to be moving, always needs to be busy, probably the type to bounce her knee a lot or get antsy during long car rides, rolls the window down and fidgets with all the buttons

is all around nice.. will probably always give u the benefit of the doubt

likes to be right.. would rather stick a pin in her eye than admit she was wrong about something!! :/

also v competitive and can’t back down from a dare

has a little bit of an insomnia issue so catch her sippin coffee or red bull to keep her awake during the day !

so, here we go. this is finley. she’s pretty chill. she’s a 19 year old pre-law and musical theater major who grew up in los angeles her whole life. from a young age, fin had everything kind of just handed to her. her mother, hunter, was a savy business woman who had inherited her father’s fortune at a young age and only really made it grow. seamus, finley’s father, has never really been all that interested in making money, and why should he be? he was lucky enough to marry into money when he was pretty young. finley has two siblings, moore and owen.

her mother is funneling money into her bank account because she’s in school right now, not that fin thinks that will ever end. with the lack of responsibility given to her, she really doesn’t understand accountability in most things she was on broadway as a child and that was the best time of her life. she had always known she had talent, but it was great for others to realize it as well! as soon as the show ended she knew she had to be back on the stage and she had been fighting to get back ever since.

finley stands out in a crowd, not just because she is tall, either, finley is a mouthy girl who is usually right, but did she really have to say it like that? she cheers currently and used to be a gymnast but has given it up in order to have more time to focus on school. she can be pretty sardonic in her humor, not afraid to hurt other’s feelings, but is unafraid to lash out the moment someone makes a joke at her expense. she had a very fragile ego, no matter how big it is. she wears glasses occasionally, just for the drama. she is very into meditation and the idea of inner peace.

though she’s only 19, she can party pretty hard. one of the main reasons she is going to hollis is because her mother wanted to make sure she was close to home if she got into any trouble. she went through a rough patch junior and senior year where she was a hardcore party girl (connection possibility for any older students bc i feel like she would have def come to college parties)

though hella pushy in almost every way, fin feels a lot better when she doesn’t have to take charge of a situation she is very much at ease as being someone’s right hand woman, in real life that is. she doesn’t do very good with competition on the stage. she has a sharp tongue that she uses every time she gets the slightest bit intimidated. romance wise? this girl defines herself as homoflexible because while she’s not usually attracted to guys, she doesn’t want to cut herself from the possibility. though, she hasn’t really ever dated-dated anyone because she is pretty self-absorbed and when you love yourself that much, is there any room for anyone else?? though yes there is because internally she’s just this sweet bb who needs validation and someone to just tell her shes talented so she can stop yelling it at people herself lmao. she really needs some friends though, tbh. she can be a really ride or die when she likes you and/or you dont threaten her view of herself of her talent.

valencia montero was born on the 27th of december of 1999 in madrid, spain . with no older siblings to act as babysitters, she relished in the luxury of growing up an only child; nearly everyday was a “bring your child to work” event as she darted between the shelves of her father’s business: a small convenience store . with the family’s income boosted by her mother’s career as an attorney, it was a given that valencia would be supplied with whatever her heart desired . ultimately, she grew up with no need to differentiate between needs and wants .

while some parents wrote heartfelt notes on the napkins that they packed in their child’s lunchbox, valencia’s mother spoke to her daughter via copies of her favorite motivational poems . undoubtedly, her mother’s contagious passion for art easily spread to valencia . at the mere age of 4, her mother enrolled her in ballet classes, hoping to live vicariously through her as she was handed opportunities her self-made mother had only dreamed of . regardless of her mother’s selfish intentions, valencia fell in love with the art of dance, using it to express her joy and pain through much of her childhood .

the remainder of secondary school passed by in a blur for valencia . she left the emotional outlet of dance behind, the memories of her mother all too fresh with each performance . thus, peer pressure and a general discontentment with her life left her resorting to alcohol or drugs to temporarily ease her emotional pain . unwilling to face her father in such conditions, she would avoid going home for days, crashing upon the couches of friends for multiple nights in a row . unable to maintain his gradually failing business by himself, her father had no choice but to close the small corner store and file bankruptcy .

the way of living that valencia had grown accustomed to throughout her childhood was seemingly uprooted overnight . with the two of them now relying on her father’s measly unemployment benefits to scrape by, lavish living was no longer an acceptable option. purchases were made on a need-by-need basis . valencia took a rapid tumble down the social ladder . it was impossible to maintain friendships based upon popularity and social status when she no longer had access to the financial means necessary to arrive at school in the trendiest outfits or with the newest iPhone .

as valencia observed the life of the wealthy elites from the sidelines, a small bug named jealousy bit her, injecting her with a resentful longing for their popularity, their material possessions, their mere comfort in life . thus, when the family’s pro bono attorney was finally able to reach a settlement (albeit, a disappointing one) regarding her mother’s death, valencia packed her bags to attend university in claremont, california . she saw an opportunity to reinvent herself in a different country, where nobody was aware of her background . she saw a flicker of hope that she could climb the social ladder yet again .

she arrived to the university as a slightly worse version of her old self . she was very materialistic and high maintenance, continuously expecting the best and nothing less out of herself and everyone else . she would only be seen in seemingly “designer” clothing and accessories, even if they were made of faux leather or were blatant knock-offs . she continuously sought to surround herself with friends of wealth, prestige, or fame . she had a role to play, and even if it was exhausting, she did everything in her power to showcase the image of herself that she wanted others to see .

ultimately, valencia’s one honest portrayal of herself in university was her academic plan . she declared a major in business with a minor in english . although it wasn’t uncommon to see her in class intoxicated by the effects of alcohol or drugs, she was making a genuine effort to graduate with a decent gpa . after feeling guilty and partly to blame over the loss of the family’s business, she entered university with the plan of someday opening up her own corporation, ensuring that she’d have the resources to take care of herself and her family without struggling .

unsurprisingly, largely surrounding herself with the wealthy while she’s tirelessly living as a double agent, desperately attempting to live amongst them while secretly attempting to stay afloat financially, has done nothing to tame her snappish attitude . ultimately, she’s prone to irritability, and exhaustion only exacerbates it . she lets small, insignificant inconveniences pile up until suddenly, she explodes, and whoever happens to be around at that moment becomes collateral damage .

she’s not one to back down from an argument or fight . she will stand her ground until her opponent merely gives up or walks away . always has an offensive remark at the tip of her tongue, and she typically can identify the telltale signs that she’s getting under someone’s skin . similarly, she’s prone to tears of frustration and/or anger . she will 100% shout at someone with tears falling from her eyes . embarrassing? yes, 100%, but not as much as forfeiting a conflict .

“'cause i feel like i’m the worst, so i always act like i’m the best” could describe her entire personality, honestly . she can occasionally have an aura of haughtiness and pompousness, but it’s mostly a self-defense mechanism to avoid actually having to confront her low self-esteem . ultimately, she’s continuously feeling as if she’s screwing things up and disappointing those around her, which leads to those lingering self-doubts concerning if anyone truly wants her around and truly loves and/or cares about her . despite the cold exterior, she’s actually a softie ? she just wants to feel loved and cared for .

she has a tendency to become absolutely panicked if she’s forced to acknowledge her insecurities . she has built up a whole wall of potential defense mechanisms solely to avoid having to cope with her problems – drugs, alcohol, sex, whatever . if someone blatantly makes note of her insecurities, she’ll be subjected to that heart-pounding, lump-of-anxiety in her throat, dizzying and exhausting sensation of just … pure and utter panic .

she doesn’t really express affection through straight-forward statements . frankly, hell will probably freeze over before you hear her speak the words, “i love you,” platonically or romantically . however, she does show affection in her own unique ways . directing playfully sarcastic quips towards someone, reassuringly squeezing someone’s hand, ensuring that someone gets home safely . ultimately, she’s an “actions speak louder than words,” type person, so if she cares about someone, she won’t waste meaningless words on them; she’ll prove it .

she drives a used 2007 toyota camry solara (claims it “has character”) . sleek red exterior, black interior, and a convertible top ? completely matches her aesthetic . furthermore, she’s the type of impulsive, reckless person you’d expect to drive like a speed demon, but she’s surprisingly cautious behind the wheel . that, along with a mild case of road rage, stems from the anxiety of not being completely in control of every situation occurring on the road . catch her cursing someone out every time she gets cut off and has to slam on her brakes .

red and black are her signature colors . every piece of clothing in her closet, every eyeshadow palette or lipstick tube in her cosmetics’ bag – it’s all red and black . her current style paints a stark contrast against her style choices growing up . catch her wearing every color in the rainbow in those old, sentimental childhood photos she keeps laying around .

she’s not a professional photographer by any means, and doesn’t even own a legit camera . however, she’s continuously reaching for her cellphone to snap photos, and always having to delete old photos to clear space for new ones . ultimately, she became a bit obsessed with preserving memories after losing her mother . so, her close friends can expect a minimum of one selfie or unexpected candid photo per visit . she has a box filled with nothing but photos and sentimental mementos at this point .

she speaks both english and spanish fluently . however, in the united states, she only uses spanish if she’s speaking to another native spanish-speaker, if there’s not a direct english translation for a word, or if she’s speaking too fast for her mind to truly catch up with what she’s saying . thus, unless one is a native spanish speaker, they’ll probably only hear her speak spanish when she’s angry .
