Dunno if you're following POB news but José Martinez bless him has made good on his promise to announce casts early.
Inès McIntosh debuting as Clara in Nureyev's Nutcracker alongside Paul Marque this winter (her first leading role!!!)
Bleuenn Battistoni debuting as Lise in La Fille Mal Gardée next spring.
Personal fave Hohyun Kang debuting as Kitri alongside Pablo Legasa.
Guillaume Diop will debute as the Prince (in the Nutcracker) with Dorothée Gilbert, and as Colas with Léonore Baulac.
And in general lots of of premiers danseurs and sujets cast in leading roles which makes for an interesting season!
This is all super exciting, great to see big chances given to various rising stars! Hopefully all will go well! I also saw on insta that Inès McIntosh will debut Kitri as well? It's going to be a big season for her, her career is about to really take off.
I am happy that José Martinez is fulfilling his promise, it shows he has great confidence in his dancers - sometimes casting is withheld from the public because the management is unsure or as a way to influence dancers. Releasing the casting in advance is a much more holistic way of doing things in my opinion.

Soirée Balanchine - POB - 18/02/2020
Well that was a very nice evening
Serenade
Marion Barbeau
Emilie Cozette
Letizia Galloni and Marc Moreau
Fabien Revillon
First performance of the triple bill. I was left a bit wanting. I adore Serenade, imho Balanchine’s best work after Jewels. Here the POB dancers’ performance was a bit muted. I would have liked more freedom and abandon. Also the corps sometimes struggled with the placement and synchronization.
Emilie Cozette gave the worst performance of the entire evening. She looked clumsy and tired on stage. Mostly she gave a sense of being out of her prime. One glaring mistake during the performance.
Letizia Galloni and Marc Moreau were nice but lacked the spark.
Marion Barbeau was the heart and soul of Serenade. Lines, musicality, fluidity, presence. I thought she could give more energy but that was very good.
Concerto Barocco
Valentine Colasante
Hohyun Kang
Stéphane Bullion
Alice Catonnet, Aubane Philibert, Ida Viikinkovski, Camille Bon, Laure-Adélaïde Boucaud, Héloïse Jocqueviel, Alisha Brash, Lillian Di Piazza
Kudos to the corps for managing to keep the unisson and the rythm. Valentine Colasante and Stéphane Bullion were nice, but Hohyun Kang outshone everyone. As soon as she appeared on stage, she completely stole the show. She was a breath of fresh air, a burst of energy and joy. Received massive applause at the end, totally deserved.
The Four Temperaments
Theme:
Letizia Galloni and Axel Ibot
Clémence Gross and Daniel Stokes
Caroline Osmont and Fabien Révillon
Melancholic
Mathias Heymann
Alice Catonnet, Hohyun Kang, Juliette Hilaire, Claire Gandolfi, Héloïse Jocqueviel, Adèle Belem
Sanguinic
Valentine Colasante and Stéphane Bullion
Lydie Vareillhes, Luna Peigné, Nine Seropian, Zeudi Testa
Phlegmatic
Yannick Bittencourt
Roxane Stojanov, Camille Bon, Laure-Adélaïde Boucaud, Camille de Bellefon
Choleric
Ida Viikinkovski
all the dancers
Highlight of the evening. First time for me seing this ballet, and I loved it. It’s just so quirky and fun. The audience was laughing. The dancers were having a blast. Everyone was on! Two stand-outs:
Mathias Heymann was wonderful. Such a musical and refined dancer. Really high class. Of all the Etoiles dancing that evening, only he showed star quality.
I absolutely adore Ida Viikinkovski, since I saw her in Cinderella last season. She did not disappoint. I’m in love with the way she dances. She dances big. She knows how to occupy the stage, how to present herself. She was swift and powerful. I really want to see her one day as the Tall Girl in Rubies. I think she would splendid.
Also the corps were absolutely stunning in the Phlegmatic variation.

POB Q+A (trying to get caught up)
Speaking about up and coming talent at POB, have you seen anything from Guillaume Diop ? He seems very good, danced Roméo, Solor and Basilio while still in the corps, and now seems to be cast as Siegfried with Dorothée Gilbert. If it's not management preparing a future étoile, I don't know what is.
I have seen him dance, he's got an excellent sense of placement and very good balance. Not surprising to see his promotion and such an elegant, precise dancer like him is very likely to keep going up.
what do you think about the results of the recent concours at POB?
Honestly pretty much agree with the results. Bleuenn Battistoni was a no-brainer after her emergency Giselle and I'm happy for her. As discussed above, Guillame Diop's promotion was also not a surprise.
While I knew a lot of people wanted Ines Mcintosh to be promoted, I understand the administration wanting to wait a bit more to promote her, she's still a touch young to be a principal. She's still clearly 'ahead' of the game, the two very talented women promoted to sujet, Hohyun Kang and Clara Mousseigne are around the same age and just now reaching the same rank as Mcintosh.
Thoughts on Marie Agnes Gillot?
Terrifyingly good, especially in roles like Raymonda, O/O and Myrtha. Her presence on stage was so strong, so intimidating yet I could never look away, even from the videos. I know a lot of people find her cold, but I think that was part of what made her so hypnotizing, apart from her immaculate footwork. And then there's her control, she could hold poses forever and really showed the beauty of lowering her legs elegantly and exaggerating those moments musically.
Hey there, hope you're doing well! Any chance you can rate your favorite POB dancers?
It's coming sometime soon I promise. Just don't have the time for long posts nowadays and it keeps getting put off.
Thoughts on ballerinas being photographed by male photographers like Stephane de Bourgies (who’s been known to photograph a ballerina from POB “independently”? Is there sometimes a “sexual” component/interest to these type of photo shoots lead by male photographers do you think?
I don't know much about this particular photographer, I looked him up and I don't recognize much of his work. I will say that independent photoshoots are quite common, especially in the current IG marketing era. A ballet dancer's body is both their livelihood and their biggest marketing tool...these are very thin lines for exploitation. I'm certainly not going to pass judgment on this case as I don't have nearly enough information. However, while there are great, professional photographers around, I have definitely seen some questionable shots taken and posted by certain photographers and also know of some incidents that have turned inappropriately sexual..
