i saw this OC question meme on twitter i wanted to do for acorn, but i don’t know if anyone there cares about him so i think i’ll just do it here instead (and without needing to jump through the likes-hoop)
1. What's their favourite beverage - alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic?
He's not particularly picky when it comes to drinks - he'll try most everything, and some things he'll like more than others, but he doesn't have any favourites. He doesn't like alcohol, though, not even the smell and generally would rather not be around it.
2. What's their favourite flavour? (spicy, sweet, sour, etc.)
He likes savory foods the best, but likes sweet foods as well. He doesn't dislike spicy foods, he just can't really handle them, and he's not sure how to feel about sour things.
3. What's their favourite food?
He likes warm, savory foods the most, as well as baked goods.
4. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks - which do they look forward to the most?
ALL OF THEM. Please feed him
5. Do they have a food or flavour they absolutely hate?
I don't think so? If he were to run into a taste that would remind him of his time as a slave, then that.
6. Can they tolerate spicy food?
Not really, though he still tries! The food he was fed as a slave was plain, flavorless slop, so his mouth isn't used to spicy stuff.
7. What is their favourite animal?
He likes just about all animals, though he's particularly fond of squirrels, foxes and birds.
8. What do they wear to bed?
The same thing he always wears.
9. What position do they like to sleep in?
Curled up into a fetal position. It not only helps him keep warm, but also makes him feel safer.
10. Are they a morning person or a night owl?
A bit more of a morning person, mainly because since he can't see in the dark, there's very little he can do besides going to sleep once night falls.
11. Are they a heavy sleeper or do they wake up easily?
Mostly a light sleeper, but when he feels REALLY safe and REALLY comfortable he'll sleep like the dead.
12. It's a rainy day, what will they do cooped up inside all day?
While living in the forest, not much, just waiting for the rain to pass.
13. Do they have a favourite scent or smell?
He likes the smells of nature, and the smell of food.
14. What do they smell like? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
He doesn't wear any perfume or cologne, I would imagine he smells mostly like moss and soil.
15. Baths or showers?
Baths I guess?
16. How good are they at cooking?
He's never tried, so currently Very Bad.
17. What's their favourite time of the year and why?
He likes spring and summer the most, because it's warm and bright and finding food is easy. He also likes all the animal babies that pop up during the spring and early summer.
18. Do they have a favourite holiday?
He doesn't know of any holidays.
19. Do they prefer buying or receiving gifts?
He prefers giving, though the gifts he can give aren't much (hope you like nuts or berries). He has conflicting feelings about receiving gifts.
20. How tall are they, and how do they feel about their height?
Very short. Among monsters he doesn't really mind, because monsters come in wildly varying heights and sizes, but with humans he feels intimidated.
21. Can they play any instruments?
Nope, he's never had a chance to try. Ren made him a little wooden flute/whistle, but there aren't a lot of melodies one can play with that.
22. Do they have a nice singing voice?
He's never tried.
23. Do they talk to themselves?
Nope.
24. Do they enjoy music? What kind?
Sure. He's not picky.
25. Do they make friends easily?
Not really, he's very shy and reserved towards strangers.
26. Surprise birthday party! How do they react?
Ignoring the fact that no one - not even him - knows his birthday, he would be startled, confused, and then would eventually probably just cry from the fact that someone cared enough to arrange a party for him. If it was a big party, he might get overwhelmed at some point, but he would still appreciate the party a lot.
27. What is their favourite flower, if they have one?
Legit no idea lol. Some kind of wild flower probably.
28. How does your character feel about wearing jewelry?
He doesn't like it.
29. If they wear jewelry, what's their favourite piece?
While he doesn't like jewelry in general, if someone he cared about a lot gave or made him something, he would cherish it and wear it. Something simple and easy to wear that doesn't get in the way would be ideal.
30. Fashion forward or fashion disaster?
Probably a fashion disaster in some people's opinion, but honestly he doesn't stand out too much.
31. What kind of underwear does your character wear?
He doesn't.
32. Do they wear makeup? What kind?
Nope.
33. Do they paint their nails?
Nope (He's a skeleton so technically speaking he doesn't even have nails)
34. Are they quick to get haircuts or do they often let it grow out?
He doesn't have hair.
35. Do they know how to whistle?
Can skeletons whistle? If so, then maybe? Maybe he would see travelers whistling and would try to mimic them, eventually learning? Or maybe Ren could teach him?
36. Or how to braid hair?
Nope.
37. Are they scared of anything in nature - bugs, snakes, lightning, being on the water, etc?
Not unreasonably so. He isn't really scared of any animals, mainly because he's a skeleton so they aren't really interested in him, but also because he's so fast and nimble that he can easily get away from anything that might pose a danger to him. Lightning is pretty scary to him because it's loud and he's seen it strike trees and such.
38. Have they ever though they were about to die?
Many times.
39. How do they react to getting sick?
He retreats to a solitary place where he feels safe and waits for it to pass. There's not much else he can do.
40. Are they afraid of blood?
Nope.
41. How do they earn money?
He doesn't.
42. Are they satisfied with their occupation or long to do something else?
He doesn't have an occupation, he's just a litle creacher
43. How creative are they?
He hasn't really had the opportunity to be creative, so no idea.
44. Do they know how to draw? How skilled are they?
He's never tried, so he's probably not very good.
45. What do they carry around with them during the day (ie. in their pockets, a bag, a purse...)
Not much: a small bone knife he found, and often some nuts and berries. After Ren makes him a flute/whistle, that as well.
46. Do they have a sweet tooth?
He likes sweets about as much as he likes all food (which is to say a lot).
47. Haute cuisine or cheap eats?
Cheap eats, one hundred percent. He doesn't care what the food looks like, as long as it's good.
48. Do they know how to swim?
If skeletons in general can swim, he probably can somewhat keep himself afloat for a period, though it might not count as "swimming".
49. Do they have any scars? How did they get them?
Yes, many, from his time as a slave.
50. What kind of handwriting do they have? Neat, messy, cursive...
He can't write.

acorn doesn’t speak a lot, and he practically never raises his voice, but there’s a time and place for everything

a festive little forest gremlin. since acorn lives deep in a forest somewhere, he normally wouldn’t be anywhere near towns or festivals (and would be too timid to attend one anyway), but i do like to imagine that once he befriends and starts journeying with his traveling companion, he starts to get more brave and confident to the point that if they did come across a town with a festival (perhaps even the traveling companion’s home town), acorn would also have the courage to attend. as long as it was with a person he trusts and can depend on - and maybe occasionally hide behind - of course.

Last time I saw you said you don’t know how he got out of captivity with the slaves and my brain went ham.
I know he isn’t /supposed/ to be a Sans but I imagined an AU Tori anyways.
A Monster allowed to live among humans one way or another she meets Acorn by chance and- appalled his misery- frees him, gifting him her furry scarf she was wearing for this cold season and a random set of clothes she bought while helping him escape.
She bids him farewell and watches him disappear into the forest, hoping he will be safe.
I based her design a little on the Japanese-inspired clothes Acorn has and how humans find monsters subservient to them so her Horns are always filed down. I’m not solidified on how she’s supposed to look, I just thought maybe you might like this? Maybe? I know you might not be thinking of stuff like this right now (With DBD lookin’ real good right now) But I just decided to send you this on impulse, you can delete it if you want
awww, i love this, and i love this idea!! i haven’t been giving too much thought to what the role of toriel (or, y’know, a character with her appearance) would be in acorn’s story if any, and i like this idea a lot! it also solves the mystery of where acorn got his fuzzy scarf thing, haha!

so uh. i saw a lot of really cool original sanses on my twitter feed and got the urge to try creating one myself, and this boy happened? he’s not related or connected to any existing worlds or characters (original UT included) and besides his appearance has basically nothing in common with the original sans, he’s just this nervous little gremlin who lives in a forest somwhere eating twigs and nuts.
(his name is Acorn, he named himself that)

that comic reminded me of a little problem i have with acorn’s story: i can’t decide if he would actually hunt for meat or not. i have no problem with him eating meat, and he wouldn’t be opposed to it either, but i really don’t know if he would have the heart to kill anything. at most i think he might eat fish if he managed to catch some in a stream, but i can imagine him catching something like a small rabbit or something and just...not having the heart to harm it.
